My hand flies to tessaiga hilt, as one of the men that pointed his weapon at me earlier steps forward, raising his weapon. The man steps closer and throws the weapon on the floor, bowing deeply. "W-What-" I stutter, as every villager drops to a deep bow, every single one of them saying thank you in low voices. "Lord Inuyasha, we are so sorry for being rude to you when you arrived, we didn't recognize you. Please forgive our rude behavior towards you and Lady Kagome."
I let go of my sword, and look over my shoulder at Kagome, who is just as shocked as me.
"Lord?" was all that came out of my mouth. The healer walks over to us, calmly looking over Kagome and handing her a small cup of clean water. "Drink child" I see Kagome accept the cup and make a slight bow, drinking the water slowly, and I can see the strain on her face. 'She must still be in pain.' I move behind Kagome, moving her loose hair from her shoulder and running my hand softly over her back and shoulders. "Are you okay?" she smiles and looks at me, moving her hand to rest on my chest. "I'll be okay Inuyasha" she says in a low tone, moving closer to me and I have the chance to wrap my arm around her, bringing her closer. She straightens her back, looking regal and smiles politely looking to the crowd of people still waiting for us to answer them. "All is forgiven, we are sorry to have disturbed you so suddenly. Thank you for letting us stay here." Her voice soft yet powerful, it just made me stand straight and tall besides her, almost puffing my chest feeling proud of her. "Yes, of course Lady Kagome, you are both welcomed to stay as long as you need, we are still in debt with you for saving our children months ago." I hold Kagome close and speak loud and firmly. "We were attacked by some of Naraku's demons, and Lady Kagome got badly injured. We hope you could let us stay here for a day or two, that way Lady Kagome will be able to rest and recover for our travel back home." Kagome blushes looking at me surprised, 'Lady Kagome, it really does sound regal, it's a title she deserves'. I slightly smile back at her and look back to the crowd in front of us. "Why yes, you can both stay in my humble home for as long as you need. I'll set up the rooms for you both." We both follow the man, who turns out to be the headman of the village, slowly thru the street. Kagome was walking very slow, small beads of sweat going down her face. 'that's it, she ain't walking' I stop her for a moment and, before she can answer me, I pick her up, holding her in my arms softly. I move slightly faster to catch up with the headman and lean my head down to whisper to her. "You should have told me you were in pain; you know I don't mind carrying you. And before the thought even crosses your mind, no, you are not a burden. You are hurt and need healing." She looks up at me, surprised with a few tears in her very pale face. I kiss her forehead, and she leans into me, as I hold her tight and walk behind the headman as we arrive at what it seems to be his home. "Please follow me, I will take you to one of our outside homes so you may be alone and undisturbed." He walks a little further and between two big sakura trees is an average hut. He stops in front of it and bows deeply to us. "You may stay here for as long as you need, one of the maids from the main manor will come shortly with dinner, you can ask for anything you might need to her." I thank the head man briefly and step inside the hut. The hut is big, with a firepit in the middle of what could be the common area, with many pillows and blankets surrounding it. I set Kagome down on the pillows, moving some of them to help her lay on them. She groans slightly and sighs. "Thank you Inuyasha." She looks too pale, and so fragile the sight makes my chest tighten.
Kagome's POV:
As Inuyasha is setting me down on the pillows, I cannot contain the groan that slips thru my lips, my wound has been burning and pulling since the village healer checked on me. I know the poison was supposed to be demon slayer poison, but I feel so ill. After I thank Inuyasha, I can feel his intense gaze on me. When I look at him I almost wince, he looks in pain and scared. He slowly moves to sit besides my legs, facing me and giving me the opportunity to move my hand up and caress softly his face. He leans into my touch, closing his eyes tightly. "I am going to be alright Inu. Please don't be so worried, it's straining on you." Inuyasha lays his hand in my thigh and looks at me as he sighs. "I've never seen you this fragile Kagome. It scares me to see you like this…" I look into his eyes and see the pain in them. I hold his face and pull it closer to mine kissing his lips softly. As we kiss, his hand moves up my thigh to hold my waist, his head tilting slightly as our kiss grows more intimate. He pulls me slightly closer, holding my body against his as he stops our kiss to rest his forehead against mine. "I cannot lose you Kagome" I move my hands up to softly trace his demon marks with my fingers and then hold his face softly. "You won't lose me, Inuyasha" We close our eyes and hold each other. I don't know how long it has been, as we curl in each other's warmth, but we hear a soft knock on the front of the hut and slowly Inuyasha gives me a long kiss before getting up to see who it is.
As I lay back on the pillows, I feel a slight pull like that of a jewel shard, but it felt more powerful and more connected to me in a strange way. I close my eyes and try to concentrate on that pull, but I feel as my body has been struck with lightning and my head starts pounding. I move a hand up to pinch the bridge of my nose, willing the pounding headache to go away. I turn my head and look towards the way Inuyasha disappeared to, spotting my bag in the entry way. I can hear soft muffles voices coming from within the entryway, but I can hear a far voice whispering my name. And as I look around the common area of the hut, I realize it's in my head. 'Okay now I am turning crazy, what is going on with me?' I close my eyes and, again, try to concentrate on that voice but I feel the same struck of lightning and the pounding in my head intensifies. I set my jaw tight, pulling a hand to my forehead trying to breath deep and calm, without success, the headache I now have. 'My head is going to split in two, UGH' I try not to grunt, for I know Inuyasha will hear me, but it gets difficult as my chest tightens, and it turns hard to breath. I take a deep slow breath and calm myself. 'Either I try to stay calm, or I'll end up having a very anxious puppy besides me' I say to myself as I lay my hand on my chest and finally calm down, my head still pounding but my breathing getting normal, yet never turning lighter.
I bend my legs and bring them closer to my middle, hoping the pain will subside soon as I lay my head back and close my eyes. I can hear Inuyasha's voice, cursing something about vegetables, 'my man hates his veggies' when I hear his sharp gasp and immediately feel him sit beside me taking the hand that isn't in my chest and holding it tight. When I open my eyes, he is looking at me intensely, frowning. "You smell sick. What's wrong? Are you feeling ill?" he moves his hand to touch my forehead as I smile at him softly. "I am alright Inu, just a headache" 'yeah right' I scoff at myself, as he moves away to take a pot that was in the entryway. "The headman's maid, Huma, brought this for us for dinner, its beef stew. Will you be able to eat some of it?" I look at him a smile softly, even if I'm not hungry I have to, for his sake. "Yeah, I'll eat a bit." He grins from ear to ear. 'So cute!' he looks thru my bag for our bowls and serves the stew, bringing the plates with a water bottle and some spoons. He sits beside me and hands me the food. I say a quick thank you and we both start eating. For the first time I can see Inuyasha eating slowly, but only because I can feel he is keeping his attention at me, his cute ears are pointed my way. "Inuyasha, I won't choke on my food." A dark blush appears on his face and gives full attention to his meal, and I nibble mine and eat what I can. It's hard to swallow and my chest is hurting too much. 'Dear Kami, I feel awful' I put my almost empty plate down and lean back on the pillows, I can hear Inuyasha get up, but I don't know what he must be doing. After some minutes of silence, I open my eyes and see him cleaning every pot and putting everything in a small cabinet. "We will be staying here some days until you feel better." I hum in agreement, I can't even keep myself alright without movement, I can't imagine the pain when we do start moving. Inuyasha gets closer to the firepit, throwing a few pieces of wood and taking off his haori. "I know this must be the tenth time I ask but how do you feel?" he says as he sits beside me, spreading the haori over me, covering my legs and middle, making me move my hands over it. "I'm alright Inuyasha, just sore." I force a smile towards him, I don't really want him to keep worrying. He raises an eyebrow at me, and scoffs. "Liar" he takes both my hands in one of his and drapes his other arm over my shoulders hugging me from the side, using his hand to softly run his fingers thru my hair. "You blush when you lie, and I know you too well Kagome" 'of course he does' he cuddles me into his side, and his warmth sooths me in many ways. I close my eyes, laying my head on his shoulder and sighing heavily. "Alright I might be hurting, I just don't want to keep worrying you, you've already done so much." I feel him sigh and kiss my forehead slowly, whispering against it. "I just wish I could take your pain away." We soak in our warmth staying like so for many minutes, staring into the small fire in front of us.
Then I hear the voice again, whispering my name as if besides me and I turn my head instinctively. "What's wrong Kagome?" says Inuyasha, the arm around me tensing up. The voice momentarily disappears so I move back to lay on Inuyasha. "it's nothing I just thought I heard something." He gives a small scoff and holds me tight. We go back to watching the fire in total silence when I hear the voice again, screaming my name in complete panic and desperation. I don't have the chance to scream or gasp as I feel everything around me turn black and my body go limp, unconsciousness taking over.
Inuyasha's POV
I close my eyes as I hold Kagome in my arms, leaning my head over hers and breathing her scent. It's weird for I can smell the musky scent of illness mixing into her soft lavender scent. After she moved her head to look as if someone had called her, she relaxed in my arms again. Suddenly, I feel her head fall on my shoulder heavily, her arms fall limb against my body and a sensation of dread invades my chest. "Kagome?" I say softly shaking her in my arms, yet she won't budge. She is not fucking moving!
I move my hand to her face, moving slightly to look at her. "Kagome, hey wake up." I tap her cheeks softly, but she doesn't move, I am panicking now. "Kagome!" I slowly move my head to her chest, trying to hear her heart or her breathing, praying that she isn't… 'please don't' I hold my breath and exhale in relief when I hear her slow breathing. 'Thank Kami' I look her over and pick her up gently, carrying her to one of the rooms and laying her down on the futon. I cover her with my haori (and the bed covers) and hold her hand, bringing it to my lips to kiss it. "You didn't fall asleep Kagome; she must have passed out. Hold on for me please" I look at her pale face and wine pitifully. 'Damn it, I just got you Kags, I can't lose you.'
Two hours have passed since Kagome passed out, and I have tried everything to wake her up. 'Damn it, this can't be happening' I cover her with my haori again and as I am standing up, I hear a knock on the front entrance of the hut. Walking outside the room Kagome is in and crossing the common area in half a second, I see Huma in the front entrance. "Hello lord Inuyasha, I have brought you and Lady Kagome some tea and… My lord what's wrong?" I am frowning at her, and I can feel the buzzing of my marks intensify. "Lady Kagome is very ill, would you be able to call the healer?" my voice sounds deeper and lower even to me, and I can tell it's because my demon blood is trying to take over. 'You have your mate in distress, its only right for me to want to protect her.' A deep voice from within me whispers, making my jaw set tight as I recognize it as my demon subconscious. My hand tightens against the frame of the hut's entrance, and I feel wood chips digging into the palm of my hand, small droplets of blood running down my wrist. "Oh my, yes of course, I'll be right back with her." She turns around and runs off, and I don't pay attention to where she is running, I turn around and walk back to sit beside my mate. I take her hand again and kiss the palm softly, breathing into it as I look up at her pale face. "Please Kagome, I need you to wake up. I will go insane without you" I lay my head on her side, looking up at her as I hold her hand to my chest.
