Chapter 2: Origins part 2.
"Good, Good Amidala, excellent form but keep your legs closer together. Kalek, tighten your stance." An older man instructed, watching two of his student's spar.
Both young men were using Vibroswords, and were seemingly equally matched. However the instructor knew better, Barry was holding himself back, obviously not wanting to embarrass his fellow member of the 212th.
The instructor frowned at this but said nothing, it was alright for Barry to hold back in a training session, but out in the field that could be dangerous.
Soon enough though, Barry ended the match with a quick use of the hilt of his weapon, his quick reflexes, and a distraction.
Kalek ended up on his back, Barry's blade to his neck, and his own sword lying harmlessly on the ground.
"Excellent work Barry, take five. Kalek on the other hand, you were to sloppy, up here front and center, its been a while since I sparred." The instructor smirked, causing Kalek to pale.
Their instructor was Commander Cody, the legendary Clone Arc Trooper from back in the times of the Republic.
However, before anything could happen, the door to the training grounds opened, and out strolled a tall, black armored figure with an advanced breathing apparatus.
It was undeniably, Darth Vader, Lord of the sith and supreme commander of the Emperial Navy and Army.
All members of the 212th, including the instructor, snapped to attention. Faces calm and collected.
"Commander Cody, I hope you can forgive the surprise inspection, but I knew a heads up would only give these men time to prepare mentally." Vader stated, the sound of his breathing echoing throughout the room.
"Of course Lord Vader, we welcome the inspection, I am sure all of my men are up to standards and are ready for your test regardless." The instructor replied.
"We shall see Commander, we shall see."
Barry felt some fear towards the dark Lord, but also a slight warmth for being in the same room as the legendary man.
He looked up to Vader, the man was his idol and role model, he wished to one day be as respected and lethal as his supreme commander.
(Vader's POV)
One of the young men in particular stood out to the dark Lord, and for numerous reasons.
The tall, black haired (but with blondish bangs) and green eyed trooper had gained quite the reputation.
He had correctly outed three Rebel spies within months of joining the 212th and had also managed to slice into their equipment, allowing the empire access to vital information and Intel.
But that was not the only thing why Vader was drawn to the boy, oh no. This young man had the same former last name as his late wife, Amidala.
Not to mention he looked similar to Vader in his youth, even down to the curls of his hair and his military stance. However the nose, cheekbones and ears were clearly somebody else's.
Padme. A long dead voice whispered into the sith's mind.
It was impossible, but Vader had to be sure. It was why he had ordered a DNA sample be taken from the boy and compared to his own before he inspected the sqaud.
Amazingly, it was a 99.9 percent match. Meaning Vader's suspicions had been correct, Barry Amidala was his son.
After inspecting the other members of the legion, the sith probed the boy's mind and was delighted to find loyalty, awe and idolization towards him from the young man.
He was even more so delighted to find that Barry was loyal to the empire, and had no love for the hutts or Rebellion.
In fact, Vader felt great pride after watching Barry's memories of how he hunted down an entire cartel of the hutts.
But unfortunately, even though Barry held much darkness within him, his mental state was not ready for that of sith training.
For now he would merely have to make a difference and be used, however the emperor saw fit.
Vader could perhaps convince the boy there was a future for him, a different path. But a nudge from the force warned him that it would be disastrous, and that
The boy had his own destiny. It was as a sith, but not under his father's tutelage.
However, Vader would not have to leave the boy alone. And he refused to even think about doing so.
He would get to know his son, even if it was from a distance.
(Back with Barry)
"Amidala, your reputation proceeds you. Did you know that your mother was a senator, and was close to the traitorous Jedi?" Vader asked casually, wanting to gage a reaction.
To his surprise, Barry merely nodded, although he was shocked Vader knew his family secret.
Barry knew Vader hated lies, and so decided to be honest: "I did sir, I grew up with stories of the bravery and purity of the Order, however once joining the empire, I did some research and was horrified to find out the truth about the Jedi. I have no love or sympathy for the Jedi Order, its members or the rebel alliance." He replied calmly.
"You speak the truth, I am surprised to see the offspring of one of our former enemies in the empire, but nevertheless understand. You are not what your blood makes you, I will keep a close watch on you young Amidala, you may yet impress me." Vader ended with a nod.
"Lord Vader, Barry Is one of the best in the 212th, I think I can say for all of use that we are proud he is one of us." Cody stated.
"Indeed, you have the right to be proud. Consider this inspection now over, as you all were." Vader replied before turning around, walking back out the way he had came.
Barry let out a small breath once he was gone, and the feeling of fear faded.
However, determination replaced it. And Barry promised himself to become someone worthy of Lord Vader's attention and presence.
