DISCLAIMER: I do not own Stargate Atlantis or Doctor Who.
Showered and changed, the Doctor took his seat at the table. The others were already there, and were already regarding him slightly warily. Teyla and Ronon were there this time, as well as John, Elizabeth, Carson and Rodney.
"Doctor." Elizabeth nodded at him as he sat down.
"Doctor Weir," the Doctor acknowledged. He looked around. "Where should I begin?"
"You're not human. How about we start with that?"
The Doctor almost flinched at the coldness in her voice. He couldn't blame her – the Pegasus Galaxy didn't have much in the terms of alien species other than Wraith and humans, so it made sense she would be slightly distrustful of him.
"Right." The Doctor took a breath. "I'm a Time Lord and I'm 903 years old. We are similar to humans in most ways, except our long lifespans and two hearts, as well as some extra organs."
"Time Lord?" Rodney questioned.
"Long ago, our people managed to- well, to cut a long story short we achieved control of time and used it to our advantage."
There was a moment of silence.
"You weren't kidding about the time travel, then. Is that how you met the Ancients?" John asked.
"Yep," the Doctor said. "Not the most entertaining bunch. I didn't stay long."
"Hold on a second," Rodney said. "Time travel? I know that Stargates, under some circumstances, can cause the traveller to travel backwards or forwards in time, but the timing has to be perfect. How can you do it?"
"My TARDIS. Time And Relative Dimension In Space. They can travel in space and time, and mine is still on the planet that you found me on. I need it back."
The Atlantis team glanced at each other. "What makes you think that we'll go and get your ship for you?" Doctor Weir asked.
"Because believe me, I will get through that gate. With or without your help."
A tremor shook the ground.
I will aide you if needed. I can see your mind, and that you do not wish to inflict harm on the humans, Atlantis assured him.
The others, obviously not able to hear her, jumped up at the rumble. "Is something wrong? What happened?" John asked.
"It's fine," the Doctor replied. "Just Atlantis telling me that if you refuse to help me, she will."
Blink.
"Atlantis can talk?"
The question had come from Teyla.
The Doctor sighed. He had thought that they already knew that Atlantis was sentient, but obviously not.
"Some species, including Time Lords, are particularly sensitive to telepathy, meaning that the ships that we build are sentient. The Ancients were too, so it made sense that Atlantis was sentient as well. The only reason that you cannot hear her is because the Ancients did not think that one day Atlantis would be inhabited by anyone other than themselves, and so did not include systems that would allow Atlantis to communicate verbally or visually to those unable to speak telepathically," he explained and looked over at Carson. "That's why the wall made that noise when I tried to scan it. I wasn't 100% after waking up and couldn't communicate to her properly, so she let me know not to scan her the only way she could."
"So, let me get this straight," John said. "While we've been up here trying to figure out who the hell you are, you've been having a nice little telepathic chat to our city and getting it on your side?"
The Doctor winced. "Not exactly. Telepathic communication happens to be a bit more comprehensive than verbal communication, and it allows you to see the emotions and sometimes thoughts of the person you are talking to. Atlantis was able to sense what I was thinking and that I really did not want to have to force my way out of here. And Atlantis is a she, not an it. Don't be rude."
Another tremor ran through the floor, this time distinctly positive feeling.
"Alright, but what's to stop us from locking you up in a holding cell?" Elizabeth asked.
Something cold and dark came into the Doctor's eyes.
"I can assure you, that would be a very poor decision on your part. Not only has Atlantis promised to aide me in getting my TARDIS, but I have read your file, Elizabeth Weir. And that does not sound like something you would do."
It was tense for a moment before Elizabeth relaxed, a small smile coming to her lips. "I admire your honesty, Doctor. I always like to know where things stand. I've made up my mind. Major, yours and Major Lorne's teams will head out at 0800 tomorrow morning. Doctor, you'll be going with them."
The Doctor grinned. "Thank you for listening to me."
"Sorry to interrupt, but you never actually told us what your ship looked like," Ronon interjected.
"Right, of course. Its a blue police box-"
"Hey, we saw that!" Rodney interrupted. "We thought it was odd, and it was locked." He frowned. "Bit small for a ship."
"Just you wait."
"Dismissed, everyone. Rodney, I am ordering you not to pester the Doctor about time travel." Rodney opened his mouth to disagree and Elizabeth looked sternly at him. "No arguments. Be here at 0800."
There was a scraping of chairs as everyone stood up.
I told you that you would be fine, Atlantis said.
I will try to upload every other day, but don't be surprised if I miss an upload as I have a lot going on at the moment.
