Here's my first chapter of Changeling Unlimited. Sorry if this took so long, I was more focused on my version of Static Shock. Anyway, I hope you like this chapter.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters. They belong to DC while I only own my OC, Thomas.

Starcrossed

Outside of Metropolis was a Changeling named Thomas. He has a black, carapace-like, body, short blue webbed hair, blue non-reflective eyes, fangs, a bent horn on his head, jagged ears, insect-like wings on his back, sharp claws on his finger and toes, and a forked tongue. He kept on flying and flying until he got to Metropolis. He landed next to a building with a huge golden planet statue.

"So this is Metropolis? Wow, it looks a lot cleaner than the Hive." Thomas said as he looked at the buildings.

But then, he looked up and saw a giant warship floating in the air.

"Whoa, what is that?" Thomas said as he looked at the warship.

"Halt, human!" A male voice said.

Thomas turned around and saw two male Thanagarians.

"Show us your identification, or you will face punishment!" The first Thanagarian demanded.

It didn't take long for Thomas to figure out what was going on. It turns out to be an invasion that makes the Thanagarians the bad guys.

"I'm sorry to say this, but I'm not actually a human." Thomas said as he was wrapped in a quick blue glow before he changed into a Gorilla.

The Thanagarians' eyes widened as they saw him change into a Gorilla.

"I'm a Changeling!" Thomas said as pounded his chest like a real Gorilla.

He ran toward the Thanagarians and smashed them at a wall as they were knocked unconscious. Once he was done, he changed back. He looked up and saw a giant ship.

"Wow, that's a big ship. I better go see what's in there and stop this invasion." Thomas said as he flew toward the ship.

Thomas managed to get inside as he walked quietly without being seen. As he was walking through the halls, he saw a room that revealed Hawkgirl and Hro Talak on the screen. He overheard Hawkgirl asking how are the Justice League doing and heard that they were still in prison as the hologram went off.

"It looks like I'm going to have to free the Justice League." Thomas said as he changed into Hawkgirl.

"Let's hope I can find where the prison is without causing anything suspicious." Thomas said in Hawkgirl's voice as he walked away.

A few minutes later, Thomas managed to find the prison. When the door opened, he walked inside and saw the Justice League. They looked at him with angry looks since Thomas was disguised as Hawkgirl. Shayera Hol aka Hawkgirl was a member of the Justice League until she betrayed them when her people invaded Earth. Not only that, she told the Thanagarians all their weaknesses. He tried not to change his monotone expression so he doesn't cause any suspicion. As he kept walking, he stopped when he looked at Wonder Woman. She was tied up with her golden Lasso as she looked at Thomas with an angry look. Thomas just looked at her as he walked towards her cell and punched the control panel, releasing Wonder Woman.

"Why are you helping us?" Wonder Woman asked with suspicion.

"It's complicated, we better get out of here before they find out what's going on." Thomas said.

"Wait. Let me ask you something." Green Lantern said from his cell.

"What's my favorite movie?" Green Lantern asked.

"Uhhh...What's a movie?" Thomas asked.

"Imposter!" Green Lantern yelled.

"What? No, no, no, you have it all wrong." Thomas said with a hint of fear with her hands up.

"Drop the act, we know you're not the real Shayera." Green Lantern said.

"(Sigh) Okay, fine. You got me." Thomas said with his real voice.

He changed into his real appearance as the Justice League were shocked by what they saw.

"So, you're a shapeshifter?" Flash asked.

"Yes, and who are you?" Thomas asked.

"We're the Justice League. We fight to protect the Earth and the people who live on it." Superman said.

"Wow, that's amazing." Thomas said.

However, the alarms went off as they saw the door open with some Thanagarians storming into the room.

"Free your friends, I'll handle these guys!" Thomas said as he flew toward the Thanagarians.

He slashed, punched, and shoot green beams from his horn, leaving a pile of unconscious Thanagarians. He kept the other remaining Thanagarians busy as Wonder Woman helped free the rest of the Justice League. Thomas was amazed that they had superpowers. Wonder Woman had super strength and flight. Flash has super speed. Superman has super strength, and flight, and can shoot lasers out of his eyes. And J'ohn has super strength, flight, and can turn intangible. While Green Lantern and Batman didn't have any superpowers.

The few remaining Thanagarians were quickly defeated by the Justice League. However, another group of Thanagarians attacked from behind. Thomas changed into a Maulwurf and slapped away a bunch of Thanagarians out of the sky. Thomas saw an overweight male Thanagarian carrying a huge cannon. It fired the cannon at Thomas' chest, but it had no effect as he roared loudly at him.

"What is that thing?" Flash asked.

"I don't know, but it looks like it has a really thick hide." Batman said.

Thomas grabbed the cannon with his teeth and chomped it into pieces. Thomas then slashed a hole in the wall as the city could be seen below. Thomas changed back and fire a green beam from his horn to knock out the remaining Thanagarians.

"You guys get out of here before this ship crashes!" Thomas said to the Justice League.

Superman flew out, carrying Batman with J'ohn carrying Green Lantern, Wonder Woman carrying Flash, and Thomas following them as he flapped his wings.

"You know, it could be possible, and I may be wrong, but I think that guy may be on our side." Flash said as Thomas and the rest of the League flew away.

Back at Metropolis, Thomas and the Justice League hid behind an alley as the Thanagarian tank passed them. They ran toward another alley and stopped when they saw more Thanagarians in front of them.

"Go." Green Lantern said as they ran away to another part of the alley.

Thomas sniffed the air as he smelled something coming.

"Guys, I smell some Thanagarians coming this way." Thomas said as the Justice League hid behind two dumpsters.

They got out of their hiding spots as the Thanagarians left. But then, Thomas' ears twitched as he turned around and saw a light along with the shadows of some Thanagarians coming their way.

"We've got to hide and fast." Thomas said as he and the Justice League ran out of the alley.

They ran toward a building with a back door as Wonder Woman ripped the door open.

"Everyone inside." J'ohn said.

"Could you give me a hand with these?" Green Lantern asked as he held out his cuffed hands.

Superman used his laser vision to get the cuffs off as they got inside before covering their tracks. When they got inside, they were in a clothing store.

"That X-ray vision working again?" Green Lantern asked.

"Just enough to see Hawk soldiers still patrolling the skies." Superman said.

"They'll have the whole city covered by now." J'ohn said.

"That's not good." Thomas said.

"Who knows? Maybe they'll get tired and go home." Flash said as Thomas and the Justice League looked at him.

"Yeah, I know. But a little optimism at a time like this couldn't hurt." Flash said.

"This is the voice of the Thanagarian occupational authority. Your so-called Justice League is in violation of our martial law. They are to be considered an enemy and dealt with on sight. Any person found aiding or harboring them will be summarily punished." A Thanagarian said.

"You clearly don't know anything about invasions, do you?" Thomas said with a deadpan expression.

"I guess not." Flash said.

"For the time being, we're gonna have to go underground." Batman said.

"How exactly do we hide when the entire planet is looking for us?" Wonder Woman asked.

"Well, those Hawk soldiers only saw you guys in your costumes. So, if you disguise yourselves as citizens, we'll be able to avoid getting caught." Thomas explained as he changed into his human disguise.

His human appearance is a man with fair skin, blue eyes, and short black hair. He was wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt, grey pants, and blue converse shoes.

"He's right. Without our costumes, we are merely ordinary citizens." J'ohn said as he shifted into a man wearing a brown trench coat.

"Hold on a second here. What about the whole secret identity thing? I mean, I trust you guys, but what about him?" Flash asked as he jerked his thumb at Thomas.

"It's okay, you guys don't have to worry about me, trust me. My name is Thomas." Thomas said.

"Bruce Wayne. Flash is Wally West. Superman is Clark Kent. Green Lantern is John Stewart. And you know Diana and J'onn." Bruce said as he took off his mask.

"Cool, nice to meet you all." Thomas said as the Justice League changed into normal clothes.

They got out of the store as they saw a bunch of Thanagarians still patrolling Metropolis.

"We need to split up. They'll be looking for seven of us, not pairs." John said.

"A rendezvous point?" J'ohn asked.

"We're about 30 miles from Gotham City. We can regroup at my house there. But try to keep a low profile." Bruce said.

"That I can do." Thomas said as they walked away.

"Thirty miles through Hawk-infested territory. No problem." Wally said sarcastically.

"Just as long as we don't cause any suspicion." Thomas said as he walked with Bruce and Diana.

Hro and Shayera were on the Thanagarian mothership as they were looking at images on the screen. They revealed a creature with insect-like wings, a horn, and sharp claws. A creature that had the ability to shapeshift into Shayera and a giant Mole-like creature. Even Shayera was shocked by how the creature was able to look and sound just like her. Seeing that it can shapeshift into anyone or anything, it could make this creature very difficult to defeat.

"Be aware that the Justice League has escaped, due to the interference of a strange, shapeshifting creature. Stand ready for an attack." Hro said.

"Let them come. It would only be suicide," Paran said.

"Keep me informed of your progress. And, Paran, let nothing delay you," Hro said.

"By your command." Paran said as the screen was turned off.

"Humans working as slaves?" Shayera asked.

"Unfortunate, but necessary. We are on an unforgiving schedule and if we're going to finish the hyperspace bypass in time-" Hro explained but was interrupted by Shayera.

"Bypass? I thought we were creating a force field." Shayera wondered.

"That was merely our cover story." Hro said.

"So when were you going to tell me your real plans? Or didn't you think you could trust me?" Shayera asked.

Hro and Shayera were silent for a few seconds before Hro put his hand on her arm.

"Come." Hro said as Shayera followed him.

They entered a room on the ship, where Hro brought her to a large screen.

"For decades, the Gordanian home world has been protected behind an impenetrable defensive line. But this chain of hyperspace bypasses will allow our armadas to jump behind their defenses, and make a direct assault on the heart of their empire." Hro explained.

"Earth is the last link in that chain. Once the chain is completed, we can attack and wipe out the Gordanian threat forever." Hro finished.

"But if we open a hole in hyperspace, it will destroy this entire planet." Shayera said.

"Sadly, yes. For Thanagar to live, Earth must die." Hro said as Shayera had a shocked expression.

Down in Metropolis, Bruce, Diana, and Thomas walked through the streets. Bruce and Diana were thinking about Thomas for he seemed like a nice guy but weren't sure what he can do.

"Thomas?" Diana asked.

"Yes, Diana?" Thomas asked nicely.

"I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about your powers." Diana said.

"Of course. You see, I have the ability to change into any person I see and hear. I can also change my voice to match whatever person I see." Thomas explained.

"And what can you change into?" Bruce asked.

"Well, not only can I shapeshift into humans. I can also turn into any type of animal that's alive, extinct, or imaginary. Even aliens. When I change into a metahuman, non-powered superhero, supervillain, animal, or alien, I'm able to use the same powers they have. I can even turn into a rock. I can make my appearance look just like the person I turned into, whether it's a man or woman. I can also alter my appearance to look exactly like that person from body type to eye and hair color." Thomas explained as Diana and Bruce had shocked expressions at how many beings he can change into.

"The only downside is that I don't have knowledge of the person I turn into. This means that I don't know anything about their likes, dislikes, personalities, and their thoughts. I also don't have their memories." Thomas said.

"What other powers do you have?" Diana asked.

"Well, I have a great sense of smell and excellent hearing. This helps me pick up someone's scent about 10 miles away and helps me listen out for any dangerous sandstorms or any dangerous threats coming my way. I can shoot green beams from my horn and can fly. I'm also very durable, super strong, and can heal from serious injuries. I also have transformable claws which means that I can make my fingers turn into claws to climb on any surface." Thomas finished.

Diana and Bruce were even more shocked. Thomas was even more powerful than he seems.

"What kind of creature are you? I've never seen anything like you before." Bruce asked.

"I'm a Changeling." Thomas answered.

"What's a Changeling?" Diana asked.

He was about to say something until they heard a Thagarian talking.

"Your identification. Now!" The Thanagarian said as he grabbed a woman's purse.

"Hey, leave her alone!" A man said as the Thanagarian shoved him to the floor.

Diana was about to walk toward the Thanagarians until Bruce grabbed her arm.

"Diana, no." Bruce said.

"You would stand here and do nothing?" Diana asked angrily.

"We can't risk giving away our identities." Thomas said.

"Hey, bird heads, go back to where you came from! Get off our planet!" A guy yelled as he and another guy threw rocks at the Thanagarians.

A Thanagarian shot a laser beam at the men and broke off the roof of the building. Diana grabbed the couple and moved them away from getting hit as Bruce kicked the Thanagarians unconscious.

"Over there! It's the Justice League." A Thanagarian said as they shot laser beams at them and flew after Bruce, Diana, and Thomas.

"So much for blending in." Thomas said as they were running away.

They ran around a bend as Thomas used his superstrength to grab a light pole and swung it at the two Thanagarians. Until two more Thanagarians shot some laser beams as Thomas ran away with Bruce and Diana.

"In here." A man said as he pointed inside the restaurant.

Bruce, Diana, and Thomas stopped as they turned around to see the Thanagarians catching up.

"Please. Hurry." The man said.

"We can't stay here. If they find you helping us..." Bruce said.

"Here. Sit here." The man said as Bruce, Diana, and Thomas sat down with a woman wrapping a scarf around Diana's head.

Three Thangarians entered the restaurant as Bruce and Diana kissed. While Thomas took a menu and pretended to be looking at it.

"We're looking for two dark-haired men and a dark-haired woman." A Thanagarian said.

"If, perhaps, you could be more specific..." The man said as the restaurant revealed many people with black hair.

"Has anyone entered here recently?" The Thanagarian asked.

"No." The man said.

"What about those three?" The Thanagarian asked as he pointed his finger at Bruce, Diana, and Thomas.

"Ah-ha, the lovebirds. Been here for hours. And that boy is their third wheel." The man said as Bruce and Diana kept kissing while Thomas hid his face with the menu.

"Let's move on." The Thanagarian said as they left.

Bruce and Diana stopped kissing as Thomas lowered the menu.

"Sorry." Diana said.

"Don't be." Bruce said with a smirk.

Thomas could see that they were in love. Being a Changeling means that he can detect love and knows how much a person loves and care for someone. Bruce and Diana walked out of the restaurant.

Bruce, Diana, and Thomas got to Bruce's house along with J'ohn and Clark as Bruce sat on his chair in the Batcave. Thomas was amazed by all the stuff Bruce had in the Batcave. They turned around to see Alfred walking toward the entrance.

"Your guests have arrived, sir." Alfred said as John and Wally walked inside.

"You're late." Bruce said.

"Nice to see you too." John said sarcastically as Wally saw a T-Rex that was next to a giant penny.

"Hey! That's a giant dinosaur." Wally said as he pointed his finger at the T-Rex.

"And I thought Batman was the detective." Alfred said as Wally walked toward Thomas and the Justice League.

"We were just speculating why the Thanagarians are really here." J'ohn said.

"Obviously not to protect us." Clark said.

"But if the Gordanians aren't actually anywhere near Earth why do they need to build that force field?" Diana asked.

"If it is a force field." Batman said.

"Then what is it?" John asked.

"I can tell you." The sound of Hawkgirl's voice said as Thomas and the Justice League turned around with shocked expressions.

They saw Hawkgirl walk out of the shadows with a monotone expression.

"You've got a lot of nerve showing up here." Clark said angrily as he took off his glasses.

"We should thank you. It saves us having to hunt you down." Diana said angrily as the Justice League except Bruce walked toward Hawkgirl with Bruce getting out of his seat.

"I didn't come to fight. I came to help." Hawkgirl said.

"Hawk people all over the planet, martial law, us getting chased like dogs. I don't think we can take much more of your help." Wally said angrily with his arms crossed.

"Wait! Let her speak." Thomas said as he got in front of the Justice League and held his arms out to protect Hawkgirl.

"WHAT?!" The Justice asked in shock

"Do you have any idea who she is?!" Clark asked angrily.

"Or what she's done?!" Diana asked with an angry expression.

"No, I may not know her as much as you all do. But why would she risk coming here if she knew the consequences of coming into the Batcave to tell you something important? We should at least hear what she has to say. She might actually help us save the Earth if we give her a chance." Thomas explained.

Everyone paused for a moment. Until Wally broke the silence.

"He does have a good point." Wally said.

Not hearing any arguments, Thomas turned around to see Hawkgirl.

"Okay, what do you have to say?" Thomas said.

"The situation is worse than you think." Hawkgirl said as she walked toward Thomas and the Justice League.

"They're building a hyperspace bypass. When it's activated, it'll destroy the planet and everything on it." Hawkgirl explained as she walked toward Bruce.

"Here. This has all the information on the project." Hawkgirl said as she gave Bruce a remote-like device.

"Believe me. I didn't know the magnitude of Talak's plans." Hawkgirl said as Bruce looked at her with an angry expression.

"We'll check it out." Bruce said as he grabbed the device from Hawkgirl's hand.

"There's the door." Bruce said as he turned around and walked away with the rest of the Justice League following him.

Thomas looked at Hawkgirl and could see that she didn't mean to betray her friends. Then, he noticed Hawkgirl giving John what looked like a green ring as she flew away.

Playing on the screen was a simulation of the bypass in action. They watched as the simulation's Earth was consumed by a white crackling light as the bypass activated.

"Ingenious." Bruce said.

"Yeah, I'm impressed. Let's go wreck it" Clark said as he took off his glasses again.

"How? It's behind a force field." John said.

"A force field controlled from the command ship." Bruce said as he typed on a keyboard.

After he was done, the computer showed an image of the Thanagarian flagship, and a particular section of the ship was highlighted.

"Go shut it down. I'll take care of the generator." Bruce said.

"That thing's the size of a city. What are you gonna do, throw a Batarang at it?" Wally asked.

"Something like that" Bruce said.

A few minutes later, Kragger and an army of Thanagarians broke into Bruce's house as they flew inside the Batcave as the Justice League was gone.

"Spread out. They're hiding here somewhere." Kragger said.

Just as he said that a green beam sliced through Thanagarian's cannon. Then, they saw Thomas in her normal form with his horn glowing green.

"Who said anything about hiding?" Thomas said with a smirk as he knocks two Thanagarians back with a slice of his sharp claws.

"Come and get some." Green Lantern said as he flew up, dodging the Thanagarian's attacks and firing green beams at them.

Wonder Woman and J'ohn worked together with her lasso to knock them out as Flash ran through as many as he could with his super speed. One Thanagarian attempted to aim a pistol at Flash but screamed in pain as Superman crushed both his hand and the pistol he was holding.

"Let's use our inside voice, shall we?" Superman said as he punched the Thanagarian into a wall.

Thomas then threw two Thanagarians toward Flash who spun a small tornado with his hands to knock them into the giant penny in the Batcave. The penny then fell over onto the two Thanagarians, knocking them unconscious.

"Tails. I win" Flash said with a smirk.

After a few minutes of fighting, the Justice League managed to defeat the Thanagarians and walked out of the Batcave and back into Bruce's house. Alfred was sweeping up the broken glass off the floor.

"Mind the glass, sir." Alfred said as Thomas and the Justice League walked toward the broken windows.

"I want you, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Thomas to go to the command ship and shut down the force field." Batman said.

"And the rest of us?" J'onn asked.

"You're gonna help me retake the watchtower." Batman said.

"It's crawling with Thanagarian soldiers. How are you planning on getting inside?" Flash asked.

"With that." Batman said as he looked at the ship that the Thanagarians had arrived in.

In the night sky, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Thomas were flying toward the flagship of the Thanagarian fleet. However, the fleet of Thanagarian ships began to swarm toward them.

"Pretty bad odds." Wonder Woman said.

"For them. But they don't stand a chance." Thomas said as he change into a ROC.

(A/N: A Roc is a giant bird of prey from MLP: FIM episode, Molt Down.)

Thomas squawked loudly as he flew toward the Thanagarian ships and destroyed them by sticking his talons out.

"Hera." Wonder Woman said with an amazed expression as she, Superman, and Green Lantern joined the fight.

Thomas used his talons to slice the Thanagarian ships apart and created a gust of wind by flapping his wings at the ships which cause the ships to hit each other and explode. Superman swung a ship toward the giant glass window as Wonder Woman and Thomas pushed the ship deeper, making a hole in the glass, and flew inside the flagship. Thomas changed back into his normal form as he and Wonder Woman flew down to the ground. After stopping the bridge officers, Wonder Woman picked up a sword and ran toward the door with Thomas following her. However, there were two separate paths leading in different directions.

"You ready?" Wonder Woman asked as she looked at Thomas.

"You bet I am." Thomas said with a smile.

"You take the left and I'll check out the right." Thomas said.

"Sounds like a plan." Wonder Woman said.

"And let's see who gets to the shield controls first." Thomas said with a smile.

"You're on." Wonder Woman said as she gave out a battle cry and charged down the left hallway with her sword in hand.

Thomas changed into a Lion and let out a loud roar as he charged down the right hallway. Thomas crashed through yet another pack of Thanagarians. Aside from a few cuts and bruises, he was doing fine. He wondered how the others were doing. After fighting alongside the Justice League, he felt that they were becoming his friends. Which was something that he never had growing up. He just hoped that they would want to be his friend too.

As Thomas walked around another corner, he spotted another group of Thanagarians. With a loud roar, he crashed into them, pouncing, slashing, and even biting one with his lion jaws. As he was done, he noticed another Thanagarian, a female with long, red hair. As he turned to pounce on her, she held up her hands.

"Wait, please!" Shayera yelled.

Thomas paused. Sure, she was wearing a helmet the last time he saw her, but that voice sounded very familiar.

"Wait a minute. You're the one who told us about what those bird people are up to, right?" Thomas asked.

"Yes, I was. I'm Shayera." Shayera said.

"Thomas. So, what are you doing here?" Thomas said as he changed back into his normal form.

"I want to help take down the shield controls." Shayera said as she looked down in shame.

"And I want to atone for what I've done. Maybe I can never fully repair the damage I've done, but I want to start here and now before it's too late." Shayera said.

Thomas stared at her for a moment as he understood that Shayera wanted to fix her mistake.

"Okay. Let's go." Thomas said with a smile.

"Huh? You believe me?" Shayera said as she was shocked by what Thomas said.

"Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?" Thomas said.

"You do know I was a member of the Justice League, right? I betrayed them and told their secrets to my people. I'm the reason the Earth is in this situation." Shayera explained.

"But, you came back to help. And all friends make mistakes sometimes, but a true friend is willing to fix their mistake, which is what you're doing." Thomas explained.

Shayera just stared at him in shock as he was so nice and understanding, she couldn't help but ask something.

"How do you know I'm not just lying?" Shayera asked.

"I guess you could say that I'm just a good judge of character." Thomas answered as Shayera sighed.

"Alright, follow me. I'll take you to the shield controls." Shayera.

"Great, lead the way." Thomas said as he followed Shayera.

They didn't encounter further resistance on their way to the shield controls. Thomas and Shayera arrived at the doors to the control room. After Thomas gave a few punches, they opened the door to see Hro Talak beating up Green Lanter. Hro gave one last swing of his axe, shattering the Green Lantern's arm, as he screamed in pain. Hro punched Green Lantern across the room, but before he could Green Lantern, Shayera and Thomas ran inside the control room.

"Hro enough!" Shayera yelled as she walked toward Hro.

"The fight's over. You're a soldier, not a murderer" Shayera said.

However, he slapped Shayera, knocking her next to John.

"I'm a fool! For ever loving you!" Hro yelled angrily.

This made Thomas mad.

"Hey, no one hurts my friend!" Thomas yelled angrily at Hro as he pointed his finger at Hro.

He changed into a Timberwolf and roared at Hro.

(A/N: The Timberwolf that Thomas changed into is the same from MLP: FIM.)

"If you want a fight, then it's a fight you'll get." Thomas said angrily.

Hro flew toward Thomas and sliced his entire body leaving nothing but a bunch of sticks on the floor.

"No!" Shayera yelled.

Shayera couldn't believe that the man she once loved killed an innocent person. She was about to rush into the fight when something amazing happened. The sticks glowed green and reassembled its body. He smirked and opened his mouth to release his green breath as if he hadn't brushed his teeth in a week. His green breath surrounded Hro as he coughed from the horrible stench. Then, Thomas grabbed Hro with his mouth and threw him on the ground. He thought that was the end of it, but Talak got back up with an angry expression.

"Hmm, I think it's time for me to turn up the heat." Thomas said as he turned into a red phoenix with fiery feathers.

The tips of the feathers on his wings, tail feathers, and the top of his head had flames on them.

(A/N: The Firebird that Thomas changed into is the same as Fire Vellumental from Paper Mario: The Origami King.)

He was flying by flapping his wings as he swiped his wing to release a fiery feather at Hro, who screamed in pain.

"Shayera, see if you can shut down the shield while I take care of Hro!" Thomas yelled as both Shayera and John nodded.

Hro knew that he was outmatched for this shapeshifting creature had been powerful before, but his Fire Bird form was almost as powerful as his Maulwurf form. It was probably powerful enough to kill him with ease, but he had a suspicion that Thomas was holding back.

"Are you not going to kill me because you are too scared to bloody your hands?" Hro asked.

"Yes, but I won't let you make me become a murderer. And for what it's worth...you're FIRED!" Thomas yelled as he blew a stream of flames from his mouth.

His fire breath smoldered Hro as he screamed in pain. He was then slammed into a wall and fell to the floor. After checking to see that he wasn't dead, he turned around to see John and Shayera.

"How's it going, you two?" Thomas asked as he changed back into his normal form.

It was hard for Green Lantern to break through the shields of the controls. He was in a lot of pain but managed to push past it. Once the shield fell, he tried to push the plunger-like device down. But he wasn't strong enough with just one arm. Thankfully, Shayera placed her hand over his and helped him deactivate the shield around the bypass.

Thomas, Green Lantern, and Shayera looked at the crater that was the hyperspace bypass through a screen in the control room. Shayera smiled at Thomas and Green Lantern before she looked down with a sad expression.

The moment was interrupted when a few Thanagarian soldiers surrounded the room. The three prepared to defend themselves until they heard screams of pain from the back of the room causing everyone else to turn around. They saw Wonder Woman standing over several Thanagarians that were knocked unconscious. She was also covered in bruises.

"Who's next?" Wonder Woman asked as she raised her sword.

A couple of Thanagarians charged at Wonder Woman as the rest of the Thanagarians stayed with Green Lantern, Shayera, and Thomas.

"Stand down! Lower your weapons." Hro said who was now bruised and burned as the Thanagarians stopped.

"Commander?" One of the Thanagarians asked.

"Our mission's a failure. There's no more reason to fight. Let them go." Hro said as he walked toward Shayera, Green Lantern, and Thomas.

"I hope you're pleased with yourself. It'll take years for us to rebuild elsewhere." Hro said.

"Then you'd better get started." Shayera said as she, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Thomas walked out of the room.

Thomas and Shayera Hol sat next to each other on the couch, watching the news. The tv showed hundreds of Thanagarian ships leaving the Earth.

Shayera turned off the TV and looked down.

"They've been in there a long time." Shayera said.

"Yes, they have." Thomas said.

They were referring to the Justice League, which was now discussing in the dining room about their future and the future of their teammate who betrayed them. Since she betrayed the Justice League, she lost the right to speak her opinion on Justice League matters. Since Thomas wasn't a Justice League member at all, he was politely asked to leave.

Shayera sighed as she leaned back on the couch. Since her regular clothes were destroyed along with the watchtower, Bruce gave her some temporary clothes. She was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with two holes cut away on the back to let her wings out, blue jeans, and brown high heel boots that go up to her ankles.

"Look, I know you're worried about what their decision will be, but if they really are your friends, I'm sure they'll forgive you." Thomas said as he looked at Shayera with a smile.

"Forgive me? After what I've done?" Shayera asked.

"Of course. Believe me, I know what it's like to leave your own kind." Thomas said.

"How?" Shayera asked.

"Well. Where I grew up, my kind are usually aggressive and violent fighters called Changelings. Every Changeling, except me. The others would pick on me for not wanting to fight and none of them wanted to be my friend. One day I realized that I couldn't live with my kind anymore, so I ran away from my home." Thomas explained as he looked down with a sad expression.

"So you ran away from your kind because you were nice and not a fighter?" Shayera asked.

"Yes. I don't really have a place to stay right now." Thomas said sadly.

"But look, even if they don't believe you're a hero, to me you're a pretty good one in my eyes." Thomas said.

Shayera smiled softly, seeing both Thomas and Alfred giving her hopeful smiles, making her feel a little better. A few minutes passed as Shayera and Thomas waited for what the Justice League will do with her.

"They've sent for you, miss." Alfred said as he put his hand on Shayera's shoulder.

"Thank you, Alfred." Shayera said as she got up and hugged Thomas.

"Thanks, Thomas." Shayera said.

"You're welcome. I hope they give you a second chance." Thomas said with a smile as he didn't have a problem hugging someone with wings since he and his species have wings too.

As soon as Shayera entered the dining room, Thomas leaned toward the dining room from the couch and used his enhanced hearing to listen through the wall. He hoped to hear what the League will do with Shayera. When Shayera walked inside, she saw the six Justice League members standing in front of her. With Green Lantern wearing a cast on his right arm.

"Hawkgirl-" Superman said.

"Before you start, I have something to say." Shayera said.

"I came to this planet as a patriot. I had a mission and I carried it out. What I couldn't know was that I would come to care for the Earth and her people..." Shayera explained as she looked at the Justice League.

"...that I'd come to care for all of you. I've spent the last five years torn between my feelings and my duty. I won't ask you to do the same." Hawkgirl continued.

"Therefore I am resigning from the Justice League, effective immediately." Hawkgirl finished.

She turned and walked towards the door, leaving behind the six members of the Justice League. Flash walked toward Hawkgirl and hugged her as she whispered in his ear.

"Tell the others to take care of Thomas. He needs friends right now." Hawkgirl whispered.

After she said that, she let go and walked away.

"Great. No Hawkgirl, no Javelin, no Watchtower. What's gonna happen to the League now? Do we all just walk away?" Flash asked sadly as he looked at Batman and J'ohn.

"No. We rebuild, starting today." J'onn said.

"J'onn's right. Earth still needs us, and we'll never let her down. It's our duty." Superman said as Green Lantern looked down with a sad expression.

Thomas overheard their conversation and he couldn't believe what happened. He may have known Shayera for only a day, but he still counted her as a friend, and now the first friend he made was leaving. He wanted to say something, but he knew that nothing was going to make her change her mind.

"I hope I'll see you again." Thomas said sadly as he gave Shayera one last hug before she left.

She was a lot like him, in a way. They'd both had to leave their kind, and now she was going to find her own way in the world like he was. He wasn't sure what to do now since he has nowhere else to go either. However, as he sat on the couch, thinking about his future, Alfred walked in.

"Excuse me, sir." Alfred said as Thomas looked at him.

"They're ready for you." Alfred said.

"Thank you, Alfred." Thomas said as he walked into the dining room.

"Now then, what to do with you?" Superman asked.

Shayera stood at the edge of the cliff near Wayne Manor as she looked at the sunset with her hair flowing from the breeze while Green Lantern walked toward Shayera.

"You never asked how we voted." Green Lantern said as Shayera turned her head to look at Green Lantern.

"It doesn't matter." Shayera said sadly as she turned back to look at the sunset.

"So, where are you gonna go?" Green Lantern asked.

"I don't know. Someplace where the fate of the world isn't in my hands...someplace where there are no more secrets...no more lies." Shayera said.

"Was it all a lie?" Green Lantern asked as Shayera turned around to look at him.

"I love you, John. I never lied about that." Shayera said honestly.

After a moment of staring into each other's eyes, Shayera turned around and flew high into the sky.

Green Lantern watched her fly away with a sad expression.

"I love you, too." Green Lantern said sadly as tears ran down her eyes.

I'm finally done with this chapter. I'm very sorry to have kept you waiting. I just had a lot going on with school and I was mainly focused on my version of Static Shock. Hopefully, I can publish the next chapters of this story soon. Anyway, Please Review.
