NOTES:

- So, this was actually written in 2020 and I edited it a bit. This story pretty much covers my main theory as to why Yuiren dresses like a woman in Daraku Tenshi: The Fallen Angels. Honestly writing this one almost made me cry a bit as Yuiren has been through a lot. Aside from Haiji, Yuiren is one of my favourite Daraku Tenshi characters and I want to do him justice.

- Again, I will be touching on implied sensitive themes here which are mainly sexual abuse; it is subtle but if it makes you uncomfortable please don't read.

- The ash child refers to Haiji Mibu (another character in the game); yes I do have a slight headcanon in which he has a child with a woman (who died sadly).

- Again as this game has little material I just theorise my own stuff and try to work it with what I can find. My writing to me is rusty but I try my best.

- Please tell me what you think!

Another performance in the Wind Fish was finished for the night. The singer of the bar did what he would usually do, go off into a separate dressing room to remove his clothing and adorned jewellery. He sat in front of a vanity mirror, taking off the golden headpiece and then dabbing away at his makeup with a cleansing wipe.
Whilst erasing his mask, small tears leaked out of his eyes. It was rare for him to cry at times like this. Although he loved to sing from childhood, the suffering that came with being on the stage caused so much pain for him. He would always dread putting on an outstretched, plastic smile whilst filling the room with his heavenly voice. Usually, certain types that roamed in Eden would take their opportunity to go on the stage and try to have their way with him because he was feminine and lithe. These types reminded him of his so-called "father" who once taught him what it was like to "be a girl".
It just made him think of why he chose to dress the way he did; whilst he would question it, it was often for a good reason. The way Eden was, it just wasn't a place anyone would go to. So many with huge influence would do everything they could to get what they wanted in very cruel ways. He knew from experience; him and his sister having no choice but to fend for themselves, even before their parents died. Him having to dress as a lady so if anyone tried to take advantage of his sister, he would sacrifice himself so she wouldn't be harmed. He still remembers the one time a certain ash child left his daughter with him to find her mom; having to wrap the leather jacket around the crying baby girl who yearned for her dad.
The singer kept removing his makeup and his tears. No matter how hard things were, he couldn't cry right now. There was no time to cry. Whilst removing the facial paint, a few knocks could be heard on the dressing room door; of course he knew what was coming.
"The glasses need to be cleaned, you know! I can't do it on my own!"
He chose not to get up, instead continuing with getting his face fixed up the way he always did. The door opened, his sister clad in her usual slinky purple bodysuit standing on the other side.
"Yuiren, didn't you hear me? I said the glasses need to be cleaned." The tomboyish girl peered into the room, looking at her twin facing the mirror.
"Everything fine? You would usually be yelling at me or something..."
He turned to her with that usual smile, the plastic one he used on stage. "Everything's fine, Yuiran. I'm coming." After removing his makeup, he followed his sister so he could help clean out the bar. Of course, he kept that damned plastic smile on and radiated a fake aura of happiness. After all, it was what he did best.
