Things Done While Kissing Prompts
(Lipstick) – after the kiss ends, sender pulls away to reveal the sender/receiver/both have lipstick marks on their face afterwards.
The brief respite was very much appreciated, Jackie decided as she drank her tea. Especially as she'd be working tonight.
Of course, she could thank the man sitting across from her for that.
Still, the quiet in Michael's office was nice. And she wasn't sure she'd get another chance to be alone with him today.
Something must have shown on her face as he asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she shrugged. "Just thinking about tonight's stakeout."
His smile was a tad grim. "I know it's not the best part of the job."
She scoffed. "I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who enjoys stakeouts."
"True." Silence briefly befell them as they sipped away at their teas. "By the way," he reached into his trouser pocket, "you forgot this."
She blushed when she saw her watch. Thoughts of the night before entered her head. Judging by the smile on his face, he was reliving the same memories.
"Sorry," she said before she adjusted the watch on her wrist.
"Don't be." He was still smiling, and Jackie couldn't help but smile back.
She drank the rest of her tea and tossed the cup in the bin. "Well, duty calls."
Jackie got up from the chair, and Michael left his desk to follow her.
"I know you would rather do something else tonight."
"You can say that again."
"I can make it up to you." His eyes showed a hint of mischief and she fought back a smile.
"How?"
"Well, this for starters." He leaned forward and softly kissed her.
"That sounds like a good idea," she said once they broke apart.
He grinned. "I thought you'd agree."
Their lips met again. Michael cupped her cheek as the kiss deepened. For a blissful moment, work ceased to exist as they savoured this brief time to themselves.
The first thing she noticed when they broke apart was the lipstick on Michael's lips. She retrieved a nearby tissue and wiped the remnants of her lipstick from his face.
When she finished, he smirked.
"What?"
"Your lipstick's all smudged."
She smiled in reply before she got another tissue and wiped her lipstick off her lips. No doubt that whoever saw her within the next few moments would be able to surmise what had just happened.
"I should probably re-apply that."
Michael nodded before she turned to leave, but his voice stopped her.
"You know…" she looked at him expectantly. "When you're finished tonight, you could come over if you want."
"It might be late." The excuse was said half-heartedly. His small smile showed her that he knew that.
"Well, you could tell me how the stakeout went." His eyes gleamed at her.
Good thing she could see through his excuses too.
Nights spent apart were becoming a rarity. Ending her nights – and starting her mornings with Michael, was fast becoming one of her favourite things.
The fact that he felt the same was only one reason why she was confident their relationship would last.
"You can count on it," she said finally.
They shared a smile full of understanding and love before she left his office. Their encounter left her with such a warmth that she only paid half attention to Robbie's teasing.
Sometimes life really was sweet.
