Chapter 1.
"I have unfortunate news; the Planet Vegeta has been destroyed by a meteorite. There were no survivors." The message that came over the scouters had relayed. "Lord Frieza sends his regards and regrets that this unfortunate incident could not be avoided." As the message came across the scouters there was nothing but silence from the listeners currently on a mission to eradicate the life on yet another unfortunate planet that Frieza had set his sights on. "Planet Vegeta has been destroyed? And there were no survivors? How?" questioned an older Saiyan by the name of Marjoram. She falls to the ground and punches the ground leaving a crater where her fist was. "This doesn't make sense how in the hell do we get surprised by a meteorite that could destroy a whole planet?" she asked. "Careful, turn off your scouters you never know if they are listening right now." Remarked another Saiyan by the name of Thyme. All the Saiyans nodded and proceeded to turn off and remove their scouters from their faces. After confirming that they will no longer be overheard Thyme continued, "This meteorite story is bullshit our satellites would of detected something that size months in advance, I would bet my life that Frieza himself was the one that destroyed our planet. I mean it isn't no coincidence that he makes the order for us to come back to the planet and all of a sudden a meteorite destroys the planet with everybody on it." "But why, would Frieza do that when we work so hard for him and are his best warriors?" Paprik, a younger male Saiyan asked. Thyme responded to the younger male Saiyan "There has always been tension between the Saiyans and Frieza, I would assume that he figured it would be best to take care of us before we became too much of a problem that he couldn't handle…In his mind the loss of us as warriors wouldn't outweigh the cost of us getting too strong and one day overthrowing him." The group took in the words of Thyme and realized that his words rang true and that this situation was going to come to a head eventually. The last of the group a young female Saiyan by the name of Okara spoke, "So besides us, all the Saiyans are dead? Is there a chance that there were those who didn't follow his recall order like us?" "There is always a possibility that others are in the same position as us but I think it wise we focus on our situation now." Marjoram answered.
After the initial shock of the sudden announcement of their planet and species demise had passed each of the Saiyans sat in silence wondering about their fate. The older Saiyans watched as the younger Saiyans' emotions went through multiple phases from confusion to anger and finally to sadness once they realized everything that was lost due to this dire news. As they sat on this unfortunate planet which they were sent to for a mission of exterminating all life on it and preparing it for sale, Thyme couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of the entire situation. To think they spent their whole lives going from planet and planet and wiping out its inhabitants just to have the exact fate befall them. The planet that was once beautiful filled with cerulean waters and a lavender sky with a gentle breeze that carried aroma of the colorful plant life that inhabited the planet was now just a burning wasteland tattered with the bodies of its unfortunate inhabitants as their green blood flowed and stained the ground where the Saiyans sat. Marjoram looked over to Thyme and directed him to an area where the younger Saiyans could not hear their conversation. "What do you think our next move should be, Thyme?" Marjoram asked, "If what you say is true, do you think Frieza will continue hunting for any other Saiyans that could possibly have survived the planet's destruction?" Thyme shook his head "Frieza is quite arrogant and lazy at that. He has destroyed a vast majority of the Saiyan race I doubt he will be too concerned with the handful that are left. He was probably more afraid of us as a collective rather than a singular threat." Thyme continued "But I highly doubt that if we were to cross paths with him again, he would let us continue to live and it would be best if we stayed under the radar and out of his way. We need to remove anything that will be able to allow him to track us or destroy it if necessary. Let's take care of that first then we can move forward." Marjoram silently agreed and went over to tell the younger Saiyans the current plan.
"I just can't believe this, everybody is gone." Paprik said in disbelief tears welling up in his eyes. "I know, it's a lot to take in as far as we know we are the only Saiyans left. Now what do we do?" Okara asked as she watched Paprik try to hold himself together and not fall victim to the same emotions. She felt completely powerless and was at a loss on how they would continue to live due to this new situation. She realized that they had no home to go back to and they had no allies to help them at this point and all they had was this planet that they just ravaged of its resources. Suddenly a scream and an explosion go off. "DAMN IT HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? I WILL MAKE THAT BASTARD PAY." Paprik screamed with tears in his eyes the frustration and hurt mounting on him. He recklessly continued to throw ki blasts at random destroyed buildings until he was stopped by Okara, "You need to calm down, I understand that you are upset but this isn't helping at all. Let's wait until Marjoram and Thyme get back and then see what we can do." After a bit of convincing Paprik finally calmed down and sat down quietly and mumbled to himself. Okara breathed a sigh of relief and sat down next to him in silence as she looked around at the planet as tears fell down her eyes the situation just now truly hitting her at just how hopeless things have become.
The older Saiyans came back from their talk and told them what steps they needed to take next. "Paprik you are quite good with technology, right? I mean your father was an engineer correct?" asked Thyme. Paprik nodded "Yea, my father taught me a little bit but I never was as good as he was.", Thyme responded, "Well I will need you to do what you can, You and Marjoram will work on removing anything that Frieza can use to track us so that means our scouters and space pods. The faster we get this done the better, they may eventually start looking for any survivors and if we can delay them finding us it would buy us some time. Okara and I will search this planet for any food or resources that are left that we can use to live off of until we come up with a plan. We did a number on this planet, but there is a chance there is at least enough food and water that will allow us to get by for a couple days if we ration it correctly." With each member assigned their mission they move forward to complete their goal.
Later on, that evening as the group sat around a campfire having dinner with the food, they were able to scrounge up they began discussing their next plans. Okara asked, "So we were able to remove the trackers from the scouters and space pods, what do we do next?" As she looked around looking at the groups for answers Thyme responded "We will lay low for a bit and look for other planets not in Frieza's control and when the time is right, we will move there to live and regroup. Maybe we might be able to find other Saiyan survivors and try to rebuild." Okara responded "Let's say we do find other Saiyans that survived do you think they will be fine working together to rebuild the Saiyan race or will it just be a constant struggle of power? Didn't our original planet get destroyed due to infighting and until King Vegeta basically forced the Saiyans to work together?" "Yes, that is true" Marjoram interjects, "but that just means that we need to get stronger so that we can ensure that we can handle any Saiyans that might not agree with our plan." Marjoram smirks at Okara, "But enough of that. Both of you go to sleep we will keep watch for tonight and we will talk more tomorrow." With that command both Okara and Paprik went to find an area comfortable to sleep for the night.
After confirming that the children were asleep the adult Saiyans stepped away to talk. "How are you feeling right now? Marjoram asked Thyme. "To be honest, I'm feeling overwhelmed, I may seem confident but there are too many unknowns and we don't have a reliable backup plan, this is an all or nothing situation." Thyme replied, "But… I do know one thing that whatever we do we must protect those two for the sake of the Saiyan race." Thyme continued, "As far as we know we are the only Saiyans left and we happen to have a young female still able to bear children, no offense to you." Marjoram chuckled in response, "None taken, that is the life of the warrior sacrifices have been made, unfortunately had I known a situation would of came up like this I would have made a different career choice but, no use regretting the past." Thyme nodded his head in agreement and both older Saiyans steeled themselves for their mission.
Author's Note: Well, that is the first chapter, I never thought I would really be writing anything that I would expect another person to read that wasn't for a grade or for work but I guess there is a first time for everything. I spend so much time reading other people's stuff I figured I should try something new. To be honest I freestyled this chapter and don't really have a plan on how the story should go but I guess that is something I will figure out more along the way. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter.
