Hello everyone! I know I have been inactive...Actually, there is a reason behind that. There is an announcement at the end so...Read to the end please. Enjoy!

Marinette couldn't help but sit in the corner as she waited for him.

Her thoughts were racing as she held a guitar pic safely in her hand. The orange sunset glowed through the window. She waited for Luka to smile through the window again like he always did.

But Marinette was already hurt, knowing this would be different from all the times Luka returned home. She mentally prepared for pain but the thought of him coming home smiling and Marinette having to tell him made her want to cry.

She closed her eyes and tried not to tear up, not wanting Luka to come home to see her crying. And then, after ten minutes of grounding herself, she finally saw her handsome boyfriend through the window. And then her heart nearly stopped after hearing the door open.

"Hey Marinette! I missed you!"

Luka called out to her as elated as usual, his blue eyes sparkling like aquamarines. Marinette breathed in and stood up. Luka was busy putting his stuff down, and Marinette walked up to him. Luka turned to her but immediately noticed that something was troubling her. Marinette winced, knowing that Luka knew the song of her heart too well and the truth was about to come out.

"Are you alright Marinette?"

Marinette should've known she couldn't hide the worry on her face. She wanted to throw herself in his arms and cry for hours, but instead, she kept herself grounded by taking his hands quickly.

"I'm glad you're back," She looked him in the eye, and he smiled down at her again. And he held her hands gently and made her feel safe. But she knew she couldn't let this go on, or else she would miss his touch.

Marinette tried her hardest to hide the hurt in her eyes to the point where she was frozen in place. She felt Luka wrap his arm around her like a shelter from the storm.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Luka asked. His voice was enough to comfort Marinette.

"I'm fine," Marinette said firmly.

There was a silence between them before Marinette found her strength again.

"I said I wanted to tell you something when you got home," Marinette said.

Now Marinette felt herself holding on to Luka, as selfish as it was. Luka kept her steady in his arms.

"You seem a bit uncomfortable. Maybe this should wait," Luka said. Marinette was about to drift off from the comfort of his voice.

"No!" Marinette cried as she placed her hand on Luka's chest.

"I need to tell you this now," Marinette said.

But Luka knew the melody of Marinette's heart too well, and he heard every note of sadness in her words. He took her chin with his hand and moved her face so their eyes could meet.

"Marinette… What's wrong?"

Marinette was ready to tell him. He gave her the strength. But as much as it hurt her, she pulled away from him. And Luka looked so confused, and a bit hurt that she recoiled from him.

"It has to do with you going miles away to pursue your dream," Marinette said.

Marinette found it harder to hide the pain in her eyes as Luka looked like he was broken as well. And Marinette never wanted to hurt Luka with words. But as much as Marinette didn't want to hurt him with a sad melody, she also couldn't keep a mockingbird caged.

"What?"

Luka uttered that one word as if the very idea was absurd.

"Luka…"

Marinette started to hold herself as she looked away from him and tried hopelessly to fight the tears forming in her eyes.

"I think you should do it…."

Marinette turned her back to him and wiped some tears from her eyes.

"This is the part where I let you go," she said softly.

And Marinette tried her hardest not to fall apart after saying every heartbreaking word.

Luka placed his hands on her shoulders, and Marinette's eyes burned as more tears streamed from her eyes.

"Marinette…"

There was so much devastation in Luka's voice as Marinette predicted. But Marinette shook her head.

"No Luka!"

She turned back to him and gave him a serious look, but she couldn't fight back her tears no matter hard she tried. And now, Marinette saw the pain in Luka's eyes as well. Since they both knew the possibility of this was out there. And for weeks, Luka was at a crossroad. But Marinette knew he would choose her over becoming a famous musician. And she couldn't allow that, no matter how much she needed her shining star in her life.

"Please don't stay here for me," Marinette said.

Luka didn't respond. He only wiped some tears from her eyes because he knew Marinette's melody was filled with so much pain. A melody of trying so hard to make a painful decision.

"Marinette, I love you," Luka said. This time Luka looked as if he was trying hard not to fall apart as well. "I told you I could never do this without you. That my dream wouldn't be complete without you."

Marinette let out a sob and wiped the tears off her cheek. Hearing Luka's devotion to her killed her inside. He was firm about this with her before, and she felt as if she did not deserve this. But she had to encourage him.

"I love you too!" Marinette cried. "But It's because I love you is the reason I can't be selfish!" She took his hands and bowed her head.

"I can't just sit here and let your dream go unrealized."

Luka frowned, but he didn't once move away from Marinette.

"Marinette, I choose not to do this. It was my own decision. You're not selfish. You're the least selfish person I know, always putting your feelings before others."

Marinette frantically shook her head and started crying again. "No!"

"I am selfish! After everything I've been through in life, you were the one thing that went right! You are the best boyfriend I ever had Luka! And as much as I wanted to love you for as long as I could, I also wanted to hold you and never let you go!"

Luka took a step forward, and Marinette held herself and took a step back.

"I can't leave you like this Marinette," Luka said as he tried to look into her tear-stained eyes.

Luka looked as if he wanted to hold her and never let her go, but he stood still so she could continue talking.

"You were the one who made me feel like I was worth loving," she said.

This time Luka wrapped his arms around her, and Marinette didn't resist as she nearly fell to the ground to cry, but they fell to the floor together. Luka held her close as Marinette took a moment to sob in his warm sweater. And eventually, Marinette found the strength to speak again, and Luka would just shut the entire world out and listen to her melody for as long as possible.

"I…I…" Marinette cried.

Luka wiped away her tears with the sleeve of his sweater, whispering multiple times that it was going to be alright.

Then Marinette finally found stability as she laid her head on Luka's chest as he held her.

"I have been hurt so much that I hated the idea of people only coming into our lives to teach us lessons…."

She placed her hand on Luka's heart. "But now I understand…."

"You taught me how to love myself and how beautiful the world is, and I could never forget that. Even if I let you go now, I won't regret anything."

Luka gently cupped Marinette's face with his hands so she could look at him. "Marinette…"

"I may have learned so many things about life, music, and love because I met you. But you're not a lesson that's meant to come and go… You're the love of my life. And I could never stop loving you."

Tears started streaming from her eyes as she pulled herself away and covered her face with her hands. After a moment of sobbing, she looked at him again.

"Luka…"

Luka met eyes with her again, and he saw the face of a woman who was serious about her decision.

"You can't just stay for me."

Luka placed a gentle hand on her tear-soaked face.

"I can't just leave like this," Luka said. "What if everything goes wrong?"

Marinette placed her hand on his.

"I remember being told that sometimes our relationships need to be put to the test," Marinette said.

Luka sniffed as some tears formed in his eyes.

"I'm… I'm scared," Luka whispered.

This time Marinette cupped Luka's face with her hands. And Luka felt comfort in her gentle touch as a small smile formed on his lips.

"I know you don't want to let me go, and that is the sweetest thing," Marinette said.

Marinette was scared to death, too but staying in the same place was no way to live.

More tears flooded Marinette's face.

"But if we are really meant to be together, then we will find each other again," Marinette cried.

"So please don't stay just for me!"

That final order echoed in the apartment as Marinette wiped the tears off her face. Then there was a silence, and Marinette could hear Luka take a breath.

"Can I hold you, Marinette?"

Marinette sniffed and nodded. "Yes Luka." Marinette felt herself surrender for a moment. "You can hold me as long as you need."

Luka wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. They stayed still in each other's embrace as they shut out the world for a moment.

Luka moved his lips closer to Marinette, but Marinette placed a hand on his chest.

"They are probably waiting for you," Marinette said.

Luka moved his lips closer to her ear.

"I'll make it big for both of us," he whispered.

Marinette sniffed. "I'm so proud of you."

Luka took her hands and looked her in the eye. "Marinette, just know one thing."

Marinette and Luka both helped each other up. And then Luka wrapped his arms around her and held her close.

"You were just as important in my life as I was in yours," Luka said. "I needed you as much as you needed me. This was never a one-sided deal."

Marinette smiled because hearing that honestly lifted some guilt off her, even if she was starting to tear up again. She thought about her beautiful star traveling around to make the world more beautiful.

"Oh Luka…" Marinette wiped her tears again and then stood her ground.

"I'm not afraid!" She declared. "Our love is strong. Stronger than any other love!" She suggested arrogantly. "But right now we need to move forward."

The two of them turned to see the sunset glow from the window, and Luka took her hand.

"We will meet again!" He suggested arrogantly. "I just know we will!"

And with that, Marinette wrapped her arms around Luka one last time.

"Thank you Luka, for everything!"

Luka ran his fingers through her hair before looking her in the eye.

"Take care of yourself Marinette. I know you are strong enough. And every time you feel alone, know that the music I play is for you," Luka said.

Marinette nodded before placing her hand on his cheek. "Travel safely. I can hardly wait to see you become the star you deserve to be. The greatest rockstar in all of Paris."

They both had a determined glow in their eyes as they moved in for one last kiss. They nearly lost control and kept each other tethered until they broke the kiss and rested their foreheads together for a moment of comfort.

"...I love you…." They both breathed in unison.

Then Luka moved away and placed his hand on the doorknob. However, he stopped when he felt his heart drop, not wanting to leave his precious melody behind.

But Marinette gave him an encouraging smile because by letting him go, he could go and make all his dreams come true. And Luka could become the most beautiful shining star in the world. A star that would never lose his luster and make the entire world a brighter place.

And Luka finally found the courage to smile back at her, taking comfort that the two of them are connected and will only grow stronger.

"Good luck, my love," Marinette whispered.

Luka opened the door, but the two of them continued to smile at each other as Luka slowly closed the door between them. But before Luka could run off to meet his bandmates, he leaned against the apartment door and smiled to himself.

"I will reach for the stars and become a man you can be proud of Marinette. I swear it!"

Marinette stayed still from inside the apartment. She couldn't be happier for Luka, but she knew it would take some time to get used to this. The apartment would undoubtedly be a lot quieter without a certain songwriter.

She would have to take it one day at a time, and it wouldn't always be easy, but she knew she had made the right decision for both of them.

So Marinette placed her hand on her heart and cried some happy tears.

"Good luck Luka. You will always be in my heart."

For a bit of trivia this fanfic is actually an audio drama I written in 2019...I found it in an old notebook when I myself was at a crossroad myself and wondering what to do. Since I have certainly been on one heck of a spiritual journey for the past few weeks.

I decided to turn this audio drama I wrote about a girlfriend saying goodbye to her boyfriend because lately I haven't had the inspiration to write Lukanette at all...

Ok as cliche as it sounds...I am going to leave the Miraculous fandom.

I know it sounds dramatic but I have honestly been on a downward spiral for months. I have been back and forth between having the inspiration to write Lukanette to not having inspiration at all. And then when I reached the bottom the only lukanette fanfic I had the strength to write was a fanfic where Marinette and Luka go their seperate ways.

I mean it's not like I wanted to stop...The past few nights I saw the unfinished Lukanette fanfics that I wanted to finish but I just couldn't! I was nowhere near done writing Lukanette. I first came into this fandom last year in June like a summer meteor shower brimming with determination to fill the world with starlight. But not everything is bright in sunny in this fandom and I was so unhappy that I was watching my own starlight fade away. And I didn't want to fade away completely.

When a ship that is so dear to me becomes way too associated with my trauma then it's probably time for me to leave.

And I apologize...I am seriously wracked with guilt because I know some people counted on me to write Lukanette and Adrigami...And hearing everyone's praise made me so happy.

So basically the last order of business is I am also going to write one last Adrigami fanfic with the theme of saying goodbye...Maybe finish a few more Adrigami one-shots just for the heck of it.

Or who knows...I closed the door without locking it. I even finished this fanfic on an ambiguous note. I am not sure if this is goodbye for good, it's up for the universe to decide. But unfortunately, I can't simply say I am on hiatus. Right now I see greener pastures and much more stars in front of me...And I got to move forward.

So basically all that's left for me to say is, I'll see all of you around.
