A/N: These are a series of vignettes which take place at various times during the fourth season and after the series ended. The first takes place before the tag of "Unfinished Business." The title comes from the 10,000 Maniacs' song "These Are Days.".
Unfinished Business
He approached their graves. A day after taking the Promazipam, the drug had left his system and his mind was clear, but the memories remained. Despite the risk the drug had represented, and Billy's outrage, he did not regret taking the drug. Without it, no one would know the truth about Blackthorne.
Reaching their graves, Lee bent down and touched each of their headstones. "Hi, Mom, hi Dad. I'm sorry I haven't been here in a while, but I've been pretty busy."
He stopped talking with a frown. "That's not true. It's been hard for me to come here. There were some issues I had to work out, but Amanda helped me in so many ways. I doubt I would have made it without her. Mom, Dad, Amanda's the kindest person I've ever met. She's smart, funny, beautiful. I'm so lucky, how lucky to find her. She's changed my life in so many ways." He gazed at their grave site, a small smile playing on his face. "I love her. I think she loves me too, but I haven't had the guts to tell her yet. I guess I'm afraid she'll laugh at me. I will tell her."
"I found out what Blackthorne did to you. He killed you, then filed a false report with the CIA. They put a black mark on your files." Despite his efforts, he could not keep the anger out of his voice. "He pulled a gun on me, and I shot him. And God help me, for the first time in my career, I'm not ashamed I took him out."
"My boss is trying to get your records cleared, but I don't have much faith in that happening. Billy will try his best to help."
He looked around the cemetery, then looked up into the sky. The late afternoon sun warmed his face. Sensing someone approaching, he turned and saw Amanda walking towards him, carrying a vase of flowers. It was right that she was here.
