Hey y'all author here:

Gonsmoss, really appreciate your comment, Will keep that in mind but I already have something set up for Jaune

That and holy shit it's been long aint it

"We need to get rid of that Overgrown chicken" Jaune growled as the building shook, The Nevermore's roar echoing as they made their way up the building as more and more feathers pelted the brick walls, Some piercing through and almost hitting them as they advanced up the stairways even as the Nevermore pelted the ruins

"Once we get up there, We need to make sure that thing doesn't divebomb us" Weiss said as everybody nodded, The rotting wooden door at the top was the only thing between them and the Nevermore, Jaune looked back to see everyone ready with determination in their eyes and he mentally prepared himself as he expanded his shield and slammed through the door

With no hesitation, All eight of them fired off their weapons and rained hellfire upon the massive flying Grimm as it screeched in pain and anger, in the back of their minds, they knew their bullets barely made a difference but that did not matter, all they needed was for one good shot and the battle would be over

"WEISS, BLAKE, GIRL WITH THE HAMMER, I GOT AN IDEA" Ruby shouted out as everyone turned to her, Weiss's eyes narrowed but she moved towards Ruby anyways while she fired off more dust, Blake and Nora didn't hesitate as the three huddled and started discussing the plan that Ruby had until the Nevermore fired off another barrage of feathers towards them

"SHIELD" Jaune screamed as both Pyrrha and him rushed to the front of the group and raised their Shields just in time to block the oncoming feathers, Unfortunately their shields were only enough to cover some of them as both Shield-wielders felt their aura slowly dwindling at the impacts of the remaining feathers cutting into their skin and armor

"Are you guys alright?" Yang asked with concern when Jaune retracted his shield and started firing off shots again, He grunted in affirmation before he heard the glyphs being formed, he turned to see an familiar sight of the pitch-black glyph pulling Ruby back with the ribbon acting as a slingshot while Nora was standing behind her with her hammer

Huh why is Nora there the-? The mental question was answered when Nora swung her hammer into the glyph with a menacing laugh and Ruby was launched at almost triple the speed he was used to, they watched as Ruby crashed into the Nevermore and pinned it to the cliffside, Weiss groaned in exhaustion and a trail of glyphs appeared on the wall as Ruby propelled herself faster and faster before finally beheading the giant Nevermore with an incredible amount of Rose petals blowing in the wind

"wow."

" Jaune Arc ,Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, and Pyrrha Nikos shall form TEAM ABRN (Auburn) , Lead by Ruby Rose... Pardon my breaking of tradition there" Ozpin announced as the crowds of students cheering for the newly created Team ABRN while they made their way down from the stage

"Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao-Long, Lie Ren, and Nora Valkyrie shall form Team WYLN (Wyvern), lead by Weiss Schnee" Ozpin presented proudly as Weiss basked in the glory, An proud and satisfied smile playing on her lips as the crowd cheered before they too made their way down the stage and waited for the assembly to end

"I can't believe my sister is team leader" Yang cheered as she hooked her arm around Ruby and pulled her into a hug all the whilst laughing, The rest of team WYLN look on in amusement as Nora went back to bothering Ren, Weiss chatting with Pyrrha (who looked incredibly uncomfortable) and Blake... well Blake being Blake

"Seriously Auburn? Could they not have picker a better name? Weiss's team gets named after a dragon and we get named Auburn?" Jaune muttered to himself as he heard a soft laugh beside him, He turned to see a small smile gracing Blake's lips as she continue to read her book before Ozpin announced the end of the initiation and the moment of silence for the unfortunate souls that they had lost today

Way to ruin the mood Ozma Jaune thought as he internally facepalmed but he still bowed his head, It wasn't Ozpin's fault that children had died this time but rather the fault of the arrogant and foolish thinking along with the played-down danger that the grimms still pose to those with aura, Jaune wouldn't fault Ozpin for that but he will contribute some of the blame to the old wizard

"Alright, Let's check out our dorm" Ruby said confidently and walked down the hallways that lead away from their dorm as the three looked at each other, shrugged and followed their team leader into a hallway that hopefully looped around

I still need to modify my weapons a little but to sleep first... hopefully

"SCREEEEEEEEEEE"

Jaune shot up instantly and reached for a weapon that wasn't there only to realize that they were inside a room, Memories of what had happened finally caught up to him and he started to relax

"Ruby...? What's going on?" Pyrrha asked groggily as she sat up, Her hair all over the place and tangled as she covered up a yawn while her fellow redhead was bouncing all over the dorm room

"Today is officially our first day at Beacon" Ruby said excitedly as Jaune groaned and collapsed back onto the bed, His mind threatening to drift back to the sweet bliss of oblivion known as sleep now that the adrenaline rush has worn off, Only for the whistle to be blown again and forcing the three other occupants of the dorm to flinch and glare at the cursed object and it's wielder

"I'm going to get food then" Jaune stated blandly as he started to get dressed, he knew that the time on his scroll said it was only six in the morning but he really needed some fresh air and time to think, This was another mess than RWBY and JNPR. It was ABRN and WYLN's mess this time around and those team mix up either created for the best adventures or the worst tragedies

tragedies that I would make sure would never happen Jaune promised himself as he left the dorm, His body taking an already memorized path through the courtyard and to where the Statue would be, Jaune sucked in a breath as he walked into the sunlight and stared at the Statue of

"Huh, Joan Warner..." Jaune mumbled to himself as he took some time to look at his namesake, Dancing Swordsman that weaved in between warriors and struck them down like a well-choreographed dance which earned her the nickname, really self-explantory but somehow his team never really understood how she gathered her title until he showed them some of her forms

"I'm surprised you know of her Mr. Arc, Not many recognize the Hero that we have enshrined here even though without her and her partner we would be wiped from the maps" The familiar calm voice served only to irritate Jaune before he crushed the feeling and turned to the headmaster with a mask of indifference, The buzz in the back of his head only grew as he came face to face with the man

"Headmaster, Joan Warner was my great grandfather's partner and whom I've been named after, I've even picked up some of her techniques. Be a shame if I didn't know her right?" He replied casually, hoping that his act was solid and convincing enough that Ozpin wouldn't pry further and force him to reveal any of the cards hidden up his sleeve except for the ones he willingly throws out there

"Oh? Warner's Technique? I thought it was faded out years if not decades ago" Ozpin asked offhandedly but Jaune could pick out the hints of interest in his body and eyes, the way he tilted his cup towards his body, the tensing of his neck and the curious gleam in those eyes that Ozpin thought he was able to cover up Hook

"Noo, There maybe a few surviving members of her family or practitioners but my family wanted to honor her so... Yeah here I am" Jaune taunted more, covering it with the disguise of a child wanting to show off and prove himself to the headmaster of a prestigious school, Something that Ozpin would have seen trhough if it had happened in his lifetime

if

"Oh, Then perhaps you would like to demonstrate a few to this aging hunter?" Ozpin asked politely, covering his smile by taking a sip from his mug as Jaune nodded almost eagerly before freezing and 'realizing' that he didn't have a sword line

"Oh headmast-" Jaune started off almost innocently for a warrior before Ozpin cut him off with a wave of his mug, The brown liquid inside somehow staying INSIDE and not spilling which made Jaune wonder if Ozpin ever blessed his mug with the remainder of his magic

"I do not need to see the weapon to understand it's form, visualize as if you are holding a sword, The motions should suffice" Ozpin said, brushing off the concern as the curiosity in his eyes almost burned through the façade that he was putting up, his body was nearly shaking at the thought of knowledge and power of one of Vale's most famous and powerful swordsmaster Sinker

"Sorry Headmaster, I would show it to you but I am not skilled enough to do so without a weapon, and my team needs the food" Jaune excused himself with a sheepish smile, The immortal man sighed in disappointment before shooting him a smile and waving him off, Jaune had nearly bursted out in laughter at the sight of anger that flashed across Ozpin's face when he thought Jaune wasn't looking

"Awww Ozma, Baited you so hard and you didn't even know it" Jaune muttered to himself happily, his mood lifted and his daily quota of messing with an ancient deity fulfilled as he headed off to grab the breakfast for him and his team before walking back, This time with no interruption via random Headmaster

"SOMEONE OPEN THE DOOR PLEASE, MY HANDS ARE FULL" Jaune shouted as he juggled the amount of food in his hands and trying to knock the door, His only response was grumbling, a loud crash and light censored curses before the door opened and he was met with the sight of a sleepy Pyrrha

"Oh Jaune, You're back" Pyrrha noted as she brightened up at the sight of food in his arms, She quickly got out of the way to let her fellow teammate in before closing the door after, Jaune quickly set down the food before collapsing on his bunk, not in the least tired but still refusing to get up from his bed

"..Which is for who?" Ruby asked after she seen the mountain of food that was stacked upon their desk that was supposed to be there for their study desk only but was refurbish as the kitchen table because why the hell not

"I took a random guess, Sweets for Ruby, Balanced diet for Pyrrha and everything else is for Blake" Jaune muttered, He was going to get everything wrong but in his haste to escape the headmaster's sights and bursting into laughter, he had accidentally gotten all of their favorites instinctually and he had only realized when he was already in front of their dorm door

"oh... wow how did you do that?" Ruby asked as she casually inhaled another cookie while Blake was in her own wonderland with her food, Jaune in his hastiness had simply gotten a baguette for himself, it wasn't a full meal but it was something that filled his stomach in the very least until lunch which is only after five classes

I should really take care of myself more often

"First Match of the day... Jaune Arc and Cardin Winchester please make their way up to the stage" Glynda announced, Winchester was one of the many thing that stayed consistent no matter what universe, He has never met a Winchester that wasn't a bully in the start and he had always changed that, one way or the other

"Arc... let's have a good match" Cardin said smugly as Jaune's eyes narrowed, His newly modified family heirloom sitting on his arm and acting like a vambrace with his sword still sheathed while Winchester brought his mace out and slamming it into the floor with a resounding boom

"Winchester." Jaune greeted simply as he unsheathed Crocea Mors, He saw a flash of recognition and fear in his opponent's eyes before it was replaced with determination and pride, He stood ready as the match started yet neither of the two moved, Jaune didn't expand his shield and Cardin didn't charge in with his mace but both combatant simply stared at each other and trying to find any moment of weakness that they could exploit

"OH COME ON FIGHT ALREADY" Yang's familiar voice called out as Jaune's attention was shifted ever-so-slightly towards her and Cardin instantaneously caught onto that unintentional blunder and charged in with a wide swing, Jaune hissed out a curse when the mace collided into his expanded shield and sent him flying backwards, Cardin might not have been good at much but his monstrous strength was something that helped with everything else

"heard your dad's a world renowned hunter until he disappeared a few years ago.. any news on that?" Cardin prodded as Jaune stood, His sword still at his side and his aura barely damaged while the two circled each other, this time Jaune initiated the attack with a low swing that Cardin dodged before he brought his mace straight down as Jaune brought his shield up only to feel nothing hitting the shield

A feint. Jaune thought as he quickly jumped back to avoid the swing, Jaune clicked his tongue in annoyance as Cardin propped his mace onto the shoulder and taking a more relaxed stance, almost taunting Jaune to make another blunder and allow Cardin to capitalize on it

"heard your dad had another son he actually loved, any news on that?" Jaune taunted and watched as Cardin's features shifted from smugness to rage and finally to fury as he charged in with a roar, all previous tactics and patience seemingly forgotten as he raised the Mace high above his head and brought it down with a resounding boom that echoed the room only for Jaune to reappear and score a slash into his exposed flank

"ARC" Winchester screamed as he dragged the mace across the wooden floor, the steel flanges tore through the wood and slammed into Jaune's shield along with a thick cloud of sawdust, Jaune quickly realized his opponents plan as he tried to jump away but it was far too late as the shining red core of the Mace ignited and an explosion covered the arena

Everyone in the audience held their breath as they watched the dust on the stage for any movement, any signs of who was the victor but as the seconds ticked by, it was looking more and more like a draw as their eyes shot up to the Aura gauge displayed above the stage, Jaune's aura sat at an greenish-yellow while Cardin's had dropped near the orange, barely in the fight by a few percent

"Hey Cardin... DONT FORGET I HAVE A FUCKING SHIELD" Jaune's roar could be heard as Cardin's body was seen flying out of the dust cloud, his aura finally dipping below 15% and ending the match as Goodwitch cleared the stage with a flick of her hand, Jaune's battered but victorious grin could be seen as he flicked his blade towards the floor before sheathing it

"And the victor of this match. Jaune Arc" Glynda announced as Cardin lifted himself, His face twisted in fury and rage as he glared daggers at the man standing obliviously on the stage

"This match had many example of how a newly graduated hunter's first human combatant mission goes, For this case we'll use Mr. Arc as the hunter and Mr. Winchester as the opponent, Not that he is a inferior or evil person" Glynda announced as the crowd laughed among itself as Cardin gritted his teeth, his knuckles turning white as he clutched Executioner in hand

"Mr. Winchester had the first drop on Mr. Arc and that is something that typically happens, Something distracts the huntsman or huntress and the combatant takes advantage" Glynda said as holograms appeared, taking shape of Jaune and Cardin in the starting moments of their fight with holo-Cardin's mace slamming into holo-Jaune's shield, the former with a smile and the latter with a grimace

"Your Headmaster has fallen victim to such tactics, I myself have fallen for such tactics and many more notable have fallen for such but what happens next depends on the hunters ability to react" Glynda continued as the holograms followed their path, holo-Jaune charging with a low slash that nearly nicked holo-Cardin's thigh but missed as the taller student sidestepped the blow and raised his Mace

"Cardin's feint here was an exemplary example of misdirection in combat, you've gone over this in your prior combat school but I'll reaffirm, Misdirection and attacking the mind during a fight is as crucial IF NOT more crucial than the combatant's skill in their weapon" Glynda said as she slowly went through the hologram's movements, holo-Jaune slowly bringing up his shield to block a blow that will never land and Cardin bringing the mace from the side instead

"Now Jaune's instinct and experience allowed him to dodge the blow but if it was many of you, The hit would have landed, Always sharpen your reaction time" Glynda stated bluntly as the crowd watched holo-Jaune jumping back to dodge the swing

"And here is where most opponents ensures their fate, by relaxing and thinking that hunters aren't that powerful because they had just graduated, Mr. Winchester I hope you have learnt your mistake" Glynda said as she turned her gaze to Cardin who nodded before the holograms shut off and Glynda dismissed both freshman

"that was an incredible fight, Jaune" Pyrrha congratulated with a smile as Jaune sat down next to his partner, Blake nodded as she turned another page while Ruby was practically vibrating in her seat for her name to be called only for her only to deflate when another student was called but the energy reappeared when she turned back to Jaune

"That was so cool, you two were all like boom crash slash boom bing bang bong" Ruby commented as she made absurd and stiff gesture that resembled some sort of martial art and sword swinging as Jaune chuckled at the display of cuteness and awkwardness in front of him, A child should stay a child. Not be enlisted into a war she hasn't even heard about

"It was a close match, Cardin drained most of his aura in a gamble for that explosion to take me out and it almost did, without the shield he would have won" Jaune said as Blake folded the corner of a page she was reading before putting the book away and giving Jaune a flat stare

"Please, Cardin might have had you on the back legs for majority of that fight, your aura barely budged when you took that hit from the mace, Hits that would have devastated most of the students here. And that explosion dropped you aura by like 20%" Blake stated as Jaune shrunk into himself, cringing at the fact that despite throwing the fight heavily, he still had beaten Cardin quite easily

"Not to mention that you had barely used your Semblance, Even when you were caught off-guard, I... I would like to challenge you actually" Pyrrha said as she gave him a shy smile, Ruby nodding and Blake turning to look at the new fight on stage

"Sure."
