Heyya, how ya doing all? So this is a new fanfic, yay. For the people whom are here for the story, don't worry I'll continue that one as well. Just experienced some writer block with that one mid writing it.
As for this new story, yeah it's one of those Jaune based stories. Please don't crucify me yet please. Imma try to make this interesting, aight? Anyways, here we go! Also, this is a non-fall AU, but it might happen later down the line. Also, here is the OC and OOC warning. Though I would expect most people would realize that this would be somewhat OOC. The OC's aren't self-inserts, just people that I need to make this work.

It was a beautiful morning. The sun was rising, birds were chirping, little layers of dew can be seen on the green grass of Beacon's courtyard. On this morning, a young man woke up relatively early. Said young man's name was Jaune. He was a man determined to get stronger and become a great hero in the name of his family and glory. A man that could stand up against an army of grimm without breaking a sweat. A legend, one would say. This, however, is not the young man's dream anymore. His dream changed into something similar, yet very distinguishable from his previous from his original dream. So what changed?
For that, we need to go a year and two months back. This was around two months before the third semester ended of team JNPR's first year. It was around this time that both team JNPR and team RWBY got to know more people of their year on a more personal level. They got especially to team FLWR (flower) and a girl named Melody.
Team FLWR consisted of their leader Florence, a lion faunus with a big spear that also could be used as a harpoon with dust capabilities. He was a kind person, but he also could be rather prideful and headstrong from time to time. He loves to spend his free time training and with his friends or tinkering with some machinery. Something else he loves doing is sleeping in, because for some reason it's almost impossible to wake him up, unless you shout at him that there is meat ready for him.
The second person was Lucian. He was the mysterious quiet type that every team apparently had. He loves nothing more than reading a book at candlelight with a good cup of tea. He is a bit of a distant person and can be condescending from time to time, but he is very intelligent and is a good mediator for his team. He almost always wears a purple suit and uses a sniper/assault rifle with a bayonet as his main weapon. He always carried around different dust rounds if specific kinds of dust is needed for a specific situation.
The third person is the energetic country girl Whitney. Whitney grew up on her family's farm, but decided to become a huntress instead of farmer. She wears typical cowgirl clothing and is the one to always up the mood in the team. She can be somewhat loud and rowdy from time to time, much to Lucian's annoyance, but she is a valued team member all the same. She often refers herself as the cowgirl, mostly because of her past and because she is a cow faunus. She uses a revolver, a lasso and a small hand axe as her weapons.
The final person of team FLWR is the local party girl Roxanne. She is wild girl with a love for shopping and rad parties. She's a great dancer and would never miss a chance to out. Outside of her party-loving life, she is known as a very motherly figure, especially towards people whom she cares about the most. She always carries some form of medical supplies and a water bottle on her in the case of an emergency. She learned to do first aid from her mother. She is also known as rather seductive person, but would never go further than flirting. Nobody who knew her would try to do anything towards her, be it a prank or something else. The reason for this is that she is a very terrifying vengeful spirit once angered. She uses two machetes which can mecha-shift into a double edged glave. In machete form she can shoot dust projectiles from her machetes and in glave mode she can use it to give her weapon an element of her choice. She has black hair and wears typical Rockstar/club clothing.
Finally, we have Melody. The sweet and innocent girl without a team. She is a very skillful fighter, but outside of the ring she's an absolute sweetheart. She can often be seen volunteering for charity work and loves music more than anything. She is also is an amazing cook. You can find her often in the music room or the kitchen. She can very shy from time to time, but can really be herself around her friends. The uses a violin for a weapon. As strange as it sounds, it is for her the perfect weapon. This has to do with her semblance: symphony. She can use her semblance to buff/debuff people and even can do damage with soundwaves that are hard enough to send a wave of grimm flying. Furthermore she can shoot dust by playing certain cords on her violin or just smack people with violin and slash people with her weaponized bow.
These five people got very close to team RWBY and team JNPR in a rather short time. Ruby and Nora got especially close Whitney. The chaotic energy created by the three of them was almost impossible to contain, even coming close to blowing up Beacon multiple times. They are known throughout Beacon as the chaos trio and/or as the bane of Beacon's budget.
Lucian got rather close to Weiss, Blake and Ren. The four of them spend a lot of time at the library reading and drinking tea. Weiss would often study during their reading times and Ren would take of the tea and then just relax or study as well. Lucian would delve himself into a good novel and Blake would read her adult art.
Florence is often seen hanging out with both Yang and Roxanne when spending his free time with friends. If he goes training, he often asks Pyrrha to join him, for he is toughest fighter of team FLWR alongside Roxanne. Though whenever he goes tinkering with machinery, Ruby is almost always next to him. Both have already planned and created weapons beyond human comprehension.
Where does Melody fall into this? You'd assume she might spend a lot time with Weiss because they both are interested in music and maybe Jaune, since he is the only one left out of this list. Well the first part of the statement is true that Melody likes to spend time with Weiss, but the person she spends the most time with is Pyrrha. Both of them found themselves talking a lot and enjoying activities together. Both train a lot together, with sometimes Florence joining in and they just hang out as friends who knew each other their entire lives.
So where does this leave Jaune you may ask. Well within a few weeks it became very much clear that the five new people were much more interested in his friends, rather than in him. Honestly, it made him a little sad, but also thought that it really didn't matter all that much. After all, he had seven other friends, right?
Well after a month or so Jaune came to find out that they slowly but surely that his seven friends much rather spend time with their new friends than him. At first it wasn't all that bad, he even liked the alone time. It gave him time to relax and even train on his own. After all, his sword play did need some upgrading and a style fitting of his own would benefit him a lot. Not to say that he is ungrateful to Pyrrha, the opposite actually, but her fighting style is ill-suited for him. He enjoyed the more defensive fighting style after all.
Soon however, he found himself quite lonely. After two weeks he actively tried to get in contact with his team again, figuring that they are the most easy to approach. Up till now they haven't talked much besides formalities and small talk, given the fact that they are almost always around their other friends. He wasn't upset with this, because frankly he didn't own any of them. Their answers however weren't what he was expecting. Honestly, he didn't really know what to expect or to expect anything at all, but this from all three was somewhat surprising. He first decided to approach Pyrrha, because she is his partner. She is the obvious first choice. The conversation went something like this:
"Hey Pyrrha!" Jaune called out. He was laying on his bed with a comic in his hands. He and Pyrrha were currently the only people inside of the dorm. Ever since the Beacon ball he had small crush on her, but beat any thought down about that now. Right now, he was a man on a mission. He got up from his bed and stood up.
Pyrrha turned her head towards him. "Oh hey Jaune." She said with a small smile. She thought about how they haven't spoken in a while to each other, but decided to continue grabbing her stuff. She and Melody had decided to watch a movie together in Vale. It was a rom-com that just came out and they were barely able to get tickets.
"Hey Pyr, it has been a while since we last trained together. Wanna go for a few rounds" Jaune asked. He decided that getting her fighting spirit up would be more than enough to get her to spend time with him.
"Umm I can't." She said with an apologetic smile. "Me and Melody are just about to head towards Vale. We had booked tickets to this new rom-com movie. I'm sorry."
Jaune, who looked somewhat dejected at this, but then quickly came up with an idea. "Can't I just join you girls? I mean it has been a while since we last hung out and I don't think Melody would mind that much." He said in a hopeful tone, only to be disappointed by Pyrrha's answer. "I'm afraid not, all tickets were sold out almost immediately. Again, I'm sorry!"
Jaune waved it off, though he was a little upset in the inside. "It's fine, we can just hang out a different day of this week, right?" The following answer disappointed him further however. "Sorry, my schedule is rather full this week and next week I'm going back home for some a bit. I have some business to attend to back there. I'll probably there until the start of our second year. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner." She said while bowing her head.
Surprise was clearly visible on Jaune's face. A thought entered his mind. 'Did the others know of this? If so, for how long? Shouldn't he be one of the first people to get this information?' He quickly shook his head and decided to ignore the questions in his mind. "It's fine, but a heads-up would be appreciated next time. Maybe after you come back we can hang-out!" He said with a somewhat fake smile. "Yeah, maybe next time." Pyrrha said without much further thought.
At that moment, Pyrrha's scroll rang. Pyrrha looked at her scroll with a message from Melody. [Where are you? The bullhead is about to leave!] Pyrrha quickly grabbed the rest of the stuff and said "I have to go now, Melody is waiting for me." And with that, she left.
Jaune couldn't help but let out a loud sigh. Oh well, maybe Ren and Nora have some time to spend with him. It wasn't like every member of his team + team RWBY wouldn't have time to spend with him, right?
He stretched for a bit before heading out the dorm himself. He knew that today was pancake Saturday, so Nora & Ren would be in the cafeteria. One to eat, one to keep company and keep the former in check.
As he made his way to the cafeteria, he passed Yang and Blake in the hall way. Jaune knew that Ren and Nora were going to be in the cafeteria for quite a while, so he might be able to talk to them as well. Deciding to let Ren and Nora wait for a bit, he goes over to Yang and blake. "Hey Yang! Hey Blake! How are you two doing?" He said with a smile on his face that he knew wasn't completely real.
"Oh hey there vomit-boy. I'm good, how are you doing?" Yang responded with a teasing smile on her face. Blake just gave him a little wave. "I'm good, I was just about to head towards the cafeteria. What are you two up to?" Jaune asked. He somewhat hoped that they at least had some time to spare for him any time soon.
"Oh, me and Blake were planning out our holiday. She promised that she would stay with me and Rubes for a bit." Yang said with a smile on her face. The quiet girl rolled her eyes and said "I promised her that I would stay with her for a bit if Yang would come with me to my original home in Menagerie. I wanted someone to go with me for support." She explained. That last part got Jaune's mind working, but realized quickly that she was talking about her rather strained relationship with her parents.
"Ah I see, I'm glad that someone is willing to go with you." Jaune said with a smile. He was genuinely glad for her that she at least had someone. "Anyways, you two doing anything later today or this week?"
This time Yang responded. "Yeah, me, Blakey-" Blake's eye twitched in annoyance, she hated that nickname. "and Rox are gonna go clubbing tonight. We were about to head out to get our hair done." Jaune hummed for a bit before talking again. "Blake, I didn't take you for the clubbing type." He said while looking at the girl. The cat faunus let's out a deep sigh "I'm not. The reason I agreed to clubbing with the two of them is that I… signed Yang and myself in to do charity for the faunus community. As a way to make up for this, I would go clubbing with Yang every evening she wanted, which in her words is every single Saturday, even continuing this when we go to Patch."
"Maybe I can come as well. I don't mind doing charity work." Jaune suggested. In his mind he saw an opportunity. Sure, he might not be able spent time with them in a normal way of hanging out, but at least it's something. Yet his hopes were quickly shattered once again.
"Afraid you're a little too late vomit-boy. The charity has closed the signing because of the surprising amount of applications this year. More and more people are starting to warm up to the faunus community, even willing to volunteer in massive groups on their own. Things really are looking brighter for the faunus future, right blake?" Yang said with a smile on her face. Blake nodded with a smile in return, but neither saw the somewhat lonely expression on Jaune's face.
In his mind, Jaune was almost cursing, but he knew that it would be selfish and unfair. Seeing that the amount of support for the faunus community brought such a smile to the dopey member of team RWBY, he couldn't be more glad. Besides, he still had a back-up plan for this outcome. Though, that didn't make him feel any less lonely then before.
"Ah, I see. I hope you two have fun with that. Glad that things are looking better for the faunus community." He said with a faux happiness. "I'm gonna head towards the cafeteria. Good luck with your clubbing preparations." He said walking away. "See ya vomit-boy!" Yang shouted through the hallway, while Blake said a small and soft "Bye".
After getting out of hearing distance, Jaune let's out another sigh. 'This is going a bit worse than I expected, but nothing that I can't handle.' He thought to himself.
He slowly made his way through the halls, which felt way longer than normal he might add, and after a bit finally reached the cafeteria. There he saw the couple that isn't a couple yet. One was munching away on a stack of pancakes, while the other was trying to get her to slow down. Jaune quickly made his way towards the table that they were sitting at. The table was completely in the back, so the amount of casualties of a pancake-crazy Nora could be somewhat limited.
As he walked up to the table, Nora noticed him and gave him an energetic wave. "Hwey Jwaune-Jwaune!" She said with at least two pancakes in her mouth. Ren lets out a deep sigh. "Nora, don't speak with your mouth full. Also, hello Jaune." He says with a small smile.
Jaune placed himself on one of the benches at the table and decided to begin with some small talk. "How are the pancakes tasting?" He asked Nora. Queen Thunderthighs swallowed her food first before answering. "They are amazing. Not as good as Renny's pancakes mind you, but they are still awesome!" She said with childlike excitement.
Ren shakes his head at this, but a small smile can be seen on his face despite of this. "So Jaune, what brings you here? Haven't you eaten yet?" He asked his leader. He had a feeling that he wasn't here for food, mostly because he didn't bring any with him. "I'm actually here to ask you two if you were able to hang out later." He said.
"Sorry Jaune-Jaune, but me and Whitney decided to go to the zoo today. Renny here is going to hang-out with Lucian later." Nora responded. Jaune couldn't help but be somewhat annoyed at this point, but decided to try again. "What about any other time this week, I'm sure you guys have some time then, right?" He asked with faux hope in his voice. He somewhat had a feeling that there was going to be something, and he was right.
After taking another bite from her pancakes, Nora is the one to bring him the unfortunate news. "The rest of the week and the next few weeks till the break starts, me, Renny, Ruby, Whitney and surprisingly Weiss and Lucian will go on a super-secret training camp after school hours. I don't know how Weiss and Lucian will react upon you joining us. I know Whitney isn't too fond of you and I don't know if Lucian has a better opinion of you than her. I don't think I need to why Weiss is would be upset with you coming. I know you two are doing better now, but she is still a bit upset about you and your transcripts." She said with a sorry smile.
Honestly, Jaune was hurt by the fact that they would plan something like this without telling him, but he guessed that it was a super-secret training camp for a reason. "Maybe we can do something together in the holiday?" he suggested with a hopeful tone, though in the back of his head he knew there would be something.
This time, Ren spoke up. "Sorry Jaune, but me and Nora are going to stay with some of our relatives that apparently survived the incident. We'll be staying there till the entire holiday. I apologize for the both of us for not telling earlier." He said while sounding regretful. "Sorry fearless leader!" Nora said with an apologetic smile.
"It's alright, I hope you guys enjoy your time with holiday." Jaune responded, though in his mind he was somewhat disgruntled about the whole thing. 'Is everyone making plans now without telling me?' He thought while letting out a sigh. Asking both Ruby or Weiss would be a waste of time. He and Weiss weren't on the best of terms currently, though not so poorly that they wouldn't speak to each other. They did feel somewhat uncomfortable hanging around each other. Furthermore was it already established by Weiss that she would return to Atlas this break, so asking her what she was doing this break would be meaningless.
Same goes for Ruby. He already knew both She and Weiss are participating in Nora's secret-training camp and that she would spend her holiday in Patch. Asking her would be waste of time. Furthermore she's with Florence right now. He accidentally overheard her talking to him about tinkering and fixing their weapons again.
Jaune decided that he wants to go back to their dorm for now. He stood up from their table and made and exchanged small farewell with other two members of team JNPR. As he made his way to their dorm, he couldn't help but notice that everything felt much quieter than before. The halls that felt so long before their conversation felt only longer now.
After ten minutes of walking, he finally reached their dorm room. As he entered the room, he couldn't help but let out one more deep sigh. After the sigh, he says to himself the only thought that crossed his mind during his entire walk from the cafeteria to their dorm room.
"It's going to quite the lonely period, isn't it."
That's it. Honestly, I'm currently thinking of many ideas of this story on where to go with it. I think I want to do ship here, probably with Pyrrha, but I'm not sure yet. This story can go any way from here, so that's nice. Also quick note, neither team FLWR or Melody is evil. This is something often found with stories like these where the person/team who replaces the first person are absolute assholes. In this story, this is way less the case, though the might say a thing or two just for the sake of plot. Also I apologize if this isn't 100% grammatically correct. English isn't my first language.
Anyways, Cya next time everyone!
