Chapter 1 first meeting
As a demon, Sesshomaru could go days without sleeping. Before he met Rin, he had indeed done just that in his travels. Nowadays, they would make camp every night, conscious of the young girl's limitations.
That morning, Jacken was complaining. "Ow! It feels like I've been swarmed by mosquitoes! Look at all these bites."
"I'm fine master Jacken," Rin said sleepily as she rubbed her eyes.
"Hmph! No one asked you! Ooooh it hurts!"
It was a typical dawn. Sesshomaru per usual, bore the noise in silence. He sat against a tree. That was when he felt a strange energy.
"Rin, Jacken, stay here."
"Lord Sesshomaru?" Jacken asked.
He swiftly stood up, not answering their questioning gaze as he came to investigate the blast of energy.

Sesshomaru stepped of the trees and into the grassy plain. He beheld what he had sensed earlier, and it was a bit of a scene.
A young woman had her back to him, dressed in traditional human miko clothes. A large straw hat hung from her neck and obscured her head. At her feet were felled demons, arrows sticking out from them.
Her straw hat moved slightly as if sensing him, then she whirled around, a bow strung and ready to aim at the new intruder. Her eyes narrowed. A purifying energy emanated from the arrowhead. "…Inuyasha?" Her soft voice was alert. "…No. that is my first thought, but you just resemble him." She called out. "Who are you?"
He was unconcerned with the threat of her weapon. He had recognized her face, yet how strange the question "Are you not the wench that travels with my brother?"
A cold smile graced her face. "Hardly." The woman said, but she lowered her bow. "You said 'brother.' You must be the demon Sesshomaru."
There was a tense silence as the woman assessed whether the demon was a threat.
Now that he looked closer, the structure of her face had a refinedness lacking in the other girl. This one's demeanor was different. Looking at the creature before him, the word "woman" came more easily than the word "girl."
Also, she smelled of soil and burnt ashes. Not the smell of a human. Yet he sensed no demon energy. There was something odd about it. He had experienced all manner of different entities, from spirits to gods… 'but one that smelled of clay and burnt ashes…'
"Lord Sesshomaru!" It was Jacken. He huffed as he reached Sesshomaru's side. He was holding something noisy between his fingers. "I've caught a spy! Inuyasha's servant!"
"Me and my damn curiosity! Let me go you ugly toad!" A voice that's weirdly audible came from the small flea.
"Who are you calling an ugly toad- oww!!" The flea bit into the demon's finger!
Myoga was flung away in the air, when he was caugh again. He intended to go free but found himself in a bigger pickle... He stared as his captor, Sesshomaru, had him between his clawed fingers.
"Sesshomaru unhand me you overgrown brat— I mean good doggi- ack!" Sesshomaru squeezed and flattened the puny thing. "Oh, right I'm sorry! Huh-?! Kikyo? What are you two doing with each other?"
"You know this woman?"
"I'm not saying anything to you!" There was a dangerous pressure. "I mean, she's Inuyasha's former lover!"
"Former lover?" He gaze rolled back to the woman. "Is that so…?" Keeping his eyes on her, he asked. "What manner of creature is she?"
The bug was hesitating.
More pressure. "She's a dead woman!"
"Explain."
"She was dead for a long time, but she brought back to life by a demon! She now roams the earth using human souls to fuel her body! Please, I don't know anything else!"
The smell made sense then. He looked at her with slight arrogance. "A walking dead woman. What a wretched sort of existence."
The human merely gazed back, bow in her hands, all through out the discussion. Her face was unreadable. There was a silence.
"Hmph." His interest waning, Sesshomaru flicked Myoga back to Jacken, the flea ending up dazed in the demon's palm. "Let's go Jacken." he turned and left, Jacken in tow. That was the first time Sesshomaru met Kikyo.
