His Tenderness, Her Remedy

Love can cure anything… That certainly applies to Dawn as a surprise visit from Ash during her lowest point in life will be what she needed. (AshxDawn) (Pearlshipping) (SatoHika) (One-Shot)

"Dawn, please just let me help you," Johanna, Dawn's mom pleaded, knocking on the blonde girl's bedroom door.

"I'm fine. Just leave me alone, mom," Dawn's voice was barely audible, yet you could just hear the sadness dripping from her words.

The mother can only sigh worriedly. Her daughter had been in such a state ever since returning from Sinnoh for the Contest Cup's end of season break like she usually would. Yes, Johanna knows that Dawn, unfortunately, lost during the finals, which would undoubtedly bring her confidence down a little. But, she has never seen her so empty, devoured of energy to do anything. Seeing her baby girl so down when she returned hurt a lot.

Since then, Dawn would lock herself in her room, only coming out for food and showering. Johanna and Dawn's pokemon tried to think of a way to help her, but none of that worked as Dawn tried to avoid every possible conversation with them.

(Inside Dawn's room)

Dawn was lying face down on her bed motionless, like a deflated balloon, crying into her blanket.

Everything was a mess in her room, including herself. Her hair was messy, something she usually will go crazy about, and her puffy eyes from all those tears shed. Those glaucous orbs have lost the shine they once had, now dull and lifeless.

She felt numb and empty. The last thing she wants is to see or talk with anybody. Nobody could understand her.

Losing was painful, but losing in another final was just too much. She already lost once before. How could she have lost again? How could she disappoint her mom, her pokemon and her friends?

As she lay there, she wondered what went wrong? When did it all go wrong? Memories of how when she and Ash travelled surface in her mind. She used to be so happy. Together, they would do their best, never giving up, even when they knew they couldn't succeed, knowing losses are stepping stones to success. Now though, the only thing she does is worry about victory.

Her room's door creaked open and a familiar voice softly spoke, "Dawn?"

Dawn was startled by the sudden voice and hid under her blanket.

"Why are you here, Ash?" She asked.

"Your mother told me -," Ash was interrupted by Dawn who snapped at him, "You can't help me with this, just leave me alone!"

Ash didn't back off and instead walked towards Dawn's bed and sat down beside her. "I won't until you let me help you with this! Please, Dawn, at least let me see you," Ash said desperately, he wanted to help her no matter what, he cares a lot about Dawn.

Dawn could hear that Ash was becoming more concerned with each word he spoke, his voice filled with concern.

It made her heart ache, as guilt filled her. There's her again making another close one worry for her. With his upcoming Master's Eight matches, Ash already has enough things to worry about, she was certain she was just adding to the pile of troubles.

Dawn finally peeked out of her blanket and looked at Ash for the first time. He was looking directly at her with eyes showing nothing but concern, care and tenderness.

"I'm sorry…" Dawn said with her head down as tears streamed down her face, onto the blankets.

"Don't be, don't apologise for feeling this way or that way. I just want you to know," Ash grabbed both of her hands and gently rubbed them before continuing, "Losses are inevitable but we are here for you. Your pokemon, your mom, I will always be here for you. So, don't lock yourself out from us, okay?" He spoke with a soothing tone, wiping some tears off her cheeks with his thumb.

Dawn nodded before launching herself at Ash, crying into his chest. Which stunned Ash for a bit before he hugged back, stroking her hair.

They stayed like that for a while until Ash noticed Dawn stopped crying and the sobs were replaced by adorable snores. He chuckled slightly before trying to remove her from his soaked shirt until he found there was no escape from the blue haired girl's grasp.

Hence, he could only sigh in defeat and carefully lie down with Dawn still hugging him like a teddy bear before covering them both with her blanket.

Johanna was really glad that Ash was able to help with Dawn. She knows her daughter harbours feelings for the Kanto trainer, even if she tries to not acknowledge it. Hence, she called over the boy to help her to comfort her daughter.

The birds outside chirped as the sun rose over the horizon, starting a new day.

Dawn stirred awake slightly when she realised she was alone in bed. 'Was last night just a dream?' Dream or not, it certainly helped to lift her mood a lot.

That was what she thought until her room's door opened and Ash walked towards her with a tray of breakfast.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," Ash said with a smile.

He placed the tray on the nightstand, before sitting next to Dawn. "Thank you…" The girl thanked him.

"I didn't make these, your-" He was interrupted by the coordinator.

"I mean for last night, I was in a slump and you helped pull me out" She spoke. "Besides, both you and I know you can't cook~" Dawn giggled at the end.

Ash only smiled at that, "That's the way to go, just look at how beautiful you are this way…" Before noticing how strange he worded it as his words left the girl hiding her face in her hands and himself looking away to avoid eye contact.

He cleared his throat, trying to move on from the awkward situation. "So, you want to start eating?"

"Sure…" Dawn muttered, putting her hands down and her sight landed on the tray of food. It had eggs, bacon, pancakes and fresh fruit. "Have you eaten yet?" She asked.

"Yeah, I did- *stomach grumbles*"

"Classic Ash, always hungry huh?" Dawn said while laughing almost uncontrollably, which Ash joined in as well.

This continued for a while until they both stopped and decided to enjoy the meal together.

"That was so good," Dawn rubbed her filled stomach, "Mom's cooking is the best."

Ash could only nod in agreement, although he would say his own mother's cooking just slightly takes the victory. "Well, what should we do now?" He asked.

"Hmm…" Dawn was thinking hard until she realised one thing, it was too peaceful… "Where's my mom?" She knew if her mother were here, it would be inevitable from suffering her teases.

"She told me she will be out to meet some of her old friends, and for me to take care of you today," Ash revealed.

"Well, she didn't do anything embarrassing, did she?" Dawn asked, knowing how her mother can act from time to time.

(Flashback)

"Be careful, Mrs Berlitz!" Ash told Johanna who was on her way to the door, just about to leave.

"I'll be fine. Take care of Dawn for me. And don't give me grandchildren just yet!" Johanna said with a wink before slamming the door shut.

'What the literal * :) * was that?!' Ash stood there frozen thinking. 'How would our children look like? My eyes or her eyes?' He blushed before shaking his head to get rid of the thoughts.

(Flashback Ends)

"Nope, absolutely not!" Ash lied. He did not want to explain what happened.

"Okay…" Dawn said, clearly knowing Ash had lied due to how bad of a liar he is. 'Mom definitely did something…'

"Getting back on track, what do you want to do now?" Ash asked. "I was thinking about a movie?"

Dawn considered that but she hasn't left her room for a long time since returning home from her defeat, so she wanted to go out for fresh air. However, she didn't want to go to someone with a lot of people… She wanted it to just be her and Ash alone…

"Yes!" An idea appeared in Dawn's head, although the sudden exclamation startled Ash a little bit. "I remembered I always went to this place near here when I was young," She said with star-filled eyes. "It has a beautiful field of flowers… Let's go!" Dawn leapt out of her bed, pulling Ash along.

Ash was happy to see Dawn filled with energy. However, he couldn't help but ask, "You sure you don't want to at least comb your hair?" He said, gesturing at her messy hair.

"Nah, not necessary!" Dawn continued to pull Ash downstairs.

"Wow, who are you and what did you do with the Dawn I know?" Ash joked.

"It's a part of my charm!" Dawn smirked. "Let's take my bike, it'll be faster."

"You have a bike?"

"Yes," Dawn deadpanned. "I bought one after Pikachu turned it to dust,"

Ash rubbed the back of his head embarrassed, "Sorry about that, how about I ride and you'll be the passenger?"

"Fine with me!"

Ash got Dawn's bike and she sat behind him. "Ready?" Ash questioned, receiving a nod from Dawn.

He began to pedal through the town with Dawn giving him directions while hugging his waist tightly.

The two's blushing faces were accompanied by the scorching sun beating down on them. After a few hours, they reached the place where Dawn first played as a child.

"We're here!" Dawn exclaimed excitedly, jumping off the bicycle.

Ash could only admire the scene before him. The field was full of flowers blooming in all kinds of colours. A large pond sat by the edge of the field, reflecting the clouds wandering freely in the sky, surrounded by bushes and trees with bright pink blossoms. The most eye-catching part was, however, Dawn. Even if her queen blue hair was messy, she still looked beautiful. In fact, she was even more breathtaking than the flowers around her. With the soft glow of the sun bathing everything around them, the sight in front of him was like a fairy tale, and Dawn is the princess.

Ash felt his breath hitch as he stared into the blue eyes that captured his heart (literally)

Little did he know, Dawn was going through a similar situation…

In her eyes, Ash was the sun itself, blinding her from seeing the real world. All she saw was the light he provided to make her feel warm and happy. He might not be the most romantic or smart person. But, his tenderness, his unwavering support, his hazelnut eyes, and his beautiful voice are what she will only ever need.

Meanwhile, Ash slowly made his way across the field towards Dawn. His steps were slow but steady as he neared Dawn.

Both were mesmerised by each other's curves and edges. They stayed staring at each other, without breaking their gaze, until Dawn could no longer stand it. She closed the gap between them, pressing her lips against his, feeling every emotion they contain.

It wasn't rushed or passionate, just sweet and simple, yet it brought warmth and joy to the coordinator's heart.

The two were lying down on the field of flowers, Dawn's head on top of Ash's chest, listening to each of his heartbeats. They haven't done much other than kiss, hold hands and spend time with each other. However, she didn't mind, because she loved every second of it.

They continued lying there, enjoying the silence and the beauty of the surroundings.

Ash took one of the flowers near him and carefully put it behind Dawn's ear. His fingers traced over her hair gently as he said,

"I love you, Dawn,"

Her smile grew brighter as she looked up, "I love you too."
