It is unclear how long and how far Detective Jake Peralta and Sergeant Amy Santiago ran in the sewers, but now they realize that they are somehow lost inside the sewers. They couldn't find a street ladder to try and ascend from but they managed to distance themselves away from the creature.
They immediately stopped at an intersection of the sewers to catch their breaths, as they place their hands on their knees, which has been sore after running for some time.
"Oh My Goodness…I have no idea how big that monster is, and it seems I am crapping a little bit in my pants!" Jake said through japed gasps for air.
"I…realize…that…" Amy sputtered. She looked back down the sewer pipe to make sure the creature still wasn't in their sights. "We need to figure out what in the world is that thing so that we can get out of here alive."
"Well, it doesn't look like an angry alligator, I can tell you that!" Jake said, as he catches his breath still terrified and shock from looking at the creature directly. "But anyway, do you have an idea exactly where we are."
"I've got no idea, Jake." Amy said, then later remembering she has the map of the sewers. "Wait a minute, the sewer maps! It can tell us where we are exactly!" she exclaimed, frantically searching her uniform pockets for the sewer map.
"I'll immediately radio in Rosa, she'll find us." Jake said, later realizing that he lost his walkie-talkie. "Oh shit, I lost my walkie-talkie! Amy, is yours still working?"
Amy saw her walkie-talkie and takes it out of her belt. "Let me try." She said, as she turns it on and tries to radio in Rosa on her frequency. "Rosa, it's me, Amy. Please come in." She said through her walkie-talkie, but there is no response.
She tries frantically again. "Rosa, please come in. It's me, Amy. Me and Jake just spotted the creature but we ran away because it is now bigger than we thought and it is chasing us. We need help. We don't know where we are, but if you can hear me, please find us and get help. Can you hear me, over?" She said, but again there is no response from Rosa on her walkie-talkie.
"Rosa, please. Can you hear me, over? Please respond. We need help!" She said, but still there's no response. Amy decided to check the walkie-talkie's battery level, and she realizes that the battery is only at five percent.
"Jake, my walkie-talkie's battery is only at five percent!" Amy said, with Jake looking very terrified and worried.
"Oh great!" Jake said, terrified and shocked. "But, did you know where we are? Do you see any identifying marks anywhere while we are running for our lives?" Jake asked, as he looks out for the creature if he appears again, while Amy found the sewer maps in her pocket and looks frantically for where they are.
"Hold on, let me see if I can figure out where exactly are we." Amy said, as she looks frantically at the sewer map for any indications on where they are. She took a quick peek off the map, looking for anything that can help her identify where they are on the map.
But the sound of the creature hissing interrupted Amy in which she quickly looked at the map and has given up on where they are and decided on a quick solution.
"You know what, just run this way! Over there!" Amy said to Jake, and they immediately dashed into what seems to be the direction to the rendezvous point.
But just as they are near the entrance to the rendezvous point, the creature has somehow blocked the entrance in a quick and fast speed.
"HOLY SHIT! How is he able to do that?!" Amy exclaimed in surprise and shock.
"Whoa, looks like someone has been eating his Wheaties!" Jake said, in absolute shock.
The creature's huge eyes blinked. Then, it turned its head around and shot some acid-green poop at the entrance of the rendezvous point and at the other two exits.
"We're gonna die! We're gonna die! WE'RE GONNA DIE!" Jake said in fear. "This is it, Amy! We're gonna die in here!"
"I don't know how he did it, but I am not going down in the 99th Precinct's history as the First Latin-American Female Sergeant of The Uniformed Officers who died from a dangerous creature in the sewers!" Amy exclaimed.
Jake reloaded his gun and fired again at the creature, hoping to find a weak spot. But again, it picks the bullets off its body and it roared with annoyance. Amy used her gun and emptied the clip at the creature, but again it stills roars with annoyance and takes the bullets off its chest. This gives time for Jake and Amy to think of what to do next or in this case, write down their wills and say their final prayers.
As Amy moves closer to hug with Jake, she looks at her married husband and they recalled in their memories the day they got married at the precinct, which will be the last memory they will have before they die.
"Jake, this is it." Amy said in shock. "We will never see our parents again."
"No Amy." Jake said, with a little 'Die-Hard' moment. "This is not gonna happen, we will get out of this alive, together!"
"How Jake?" Amy asked and Jake had came up with a plan.
"I am going to try and distract the creature." Jake said. That will give you time to run and get as far away as possible."
"Jake, I'm not leaving you!" Amy shouted.
"It's okay, I will be fine." Jake said, looking at Amy's eyes. "I will try to use my gun which is now empty to distract the creature, giving you enough time to run. I will try to catch up with you as soon as the cre- "
Jake got interrupted on his plan when there is a sudden, bright flash of purple behind the creature. Which causes both of them to get down and cover their eyes. "OMG, it's bright! What in god's name is now happening!?" Jake said, as he and Amy's eyes are covered.
When the light subsided, the sewer is still there along with the rendezvous point…but all of the green acid was gone. And the creature is still picking the bullets off its body but it is now smaller, much to the shock of Jake and Amy.
Shocked, the two stood there in silence for a long, bewildered moment as they find the attacker now small. However, this unexplained madness is now a logical moment for Detective Jake Peralta. Even Amy Santiago, Jake's wife who is also the sergeant of the 99th Precinct's uniformed officers was also in a state of shock.
As if on cue, Amy sputtered, "W-what the hell just happened, Jake?"
"A miracle, I believe." Jake said in relief. "That thing would've killed us eventually."
But Jake shook his head and took out his now-empty gun. "I do not know how, but…just what is exactly going on here? And there has to be a logical explanation to all of this, there has to be…"
"Jake, come on, just calm down." Amy said but Jake ignored her and pointed his gun to where the light had come from.
Alarmed, Amy also took out her gun and pointed at the same direction. "Uh, Jake? What is going on?!" Amy asked as she and Jake moved slowly to the area where the light is from.
"Somebody had to flash that light. It didn't appear out of nowhere, that's for sure." Jake said, as his mind is trying to process what has happened. But he relied on his instinct, which is taking some sort of control over the current situation. "NYPD!" He shouted at the area where the light came from. "We do not know where you are hiding but whoever you are, show yourselves now!"
"Great Alex, now you're going to get us arrested. I knew someday this would happen." A voice echoed from the direction of the light. The voice however was distinctly male, but…younger, like a teenager. Another teenager's voice, this one however a girl's, replied to him.
"What? That we'd be fighting a lizard-looking monster and expose magic in front of two cops? Talk about freakishly accurate paranoia." She spoke.
"Very funny, Alex. I meant that you'd be arrested by the NYPD one day, and taking me down with you." The male voice replied.
"Justin, you're the one who started talking. If we'd just stayed quiet, no-one would've known we were even here!" The girl's voice replied, in a harsh tone.
"Okay Alex, that was my bad. But I can't help it, authority figures makes me nervous. Especially where there's guns pointing at me!" The male voice also replied in a harsh tone.
Surprised, both Jake and Amy exchanged confused looks. They heard the teenage voices loud and clear, but for some reasons the speakers were still hidden. And for some reasons, the odd conversation topic just made the situation much worse than the precinct's ant infestation.
"Wait a minute, 'Magic'? And how the hell are we pointing our guns at him when he isn't even there?" Amy asked Jake, confused and shocked with her gun still in her hand.
"Seriously, what the hell is going on here?!" Jake said as his gun is still held out in front of him and he demanded again. "Okay I do not know what is happening, but show yourselves right now!" He shouted.
"All right, all right! Just please don't shoot!" The male voice pleaded.
There was another spark of light, this one however was blue. When it cleared, they were surprised to see that they were average New York teenagers who are actually Justin Russo and his sister Alex. Jake and Amy see that they were a boy and a girl who looked like they could be siblings, but what made them shocked was their appearance and what they were holding in their hands. They see that the boy is wearing some kind of silver cosplay costume that is in silver with a black vest that covered his upper body while the girl is wearing black boots, black trousers and a black shirt with a red jacket. They also noticed that they were both carrying weird sticks on their hands, the girl's stick is red and decorated while the guy's stick is simple wood.
Jake and Amy are in shock, but showed faith as they put their guns back. Shaking with nerves, the boy seemed like he was about to pass out at any second. And while she put up a brave front, Jake and Amy could sense that the girl was equally afraid. They weren't sure as to what it was, maybe neglected maternal instinct, but they could felt as they were just kids who ended in the wrong place at the wrong time, despite their unusual behavior. But of course, they were not about to drop their tough cop images yet.
"Okay, I want your names along with an explanation." Jake demanded, with his arms on his hips. "What in the world is going on here? And you guys will possibly save a trip to our precinct if you tell us the truth the first time."
Both Justin and Alex exchanged looks. Finally, Justin cleared his throat and introduced themselves. "I'm Justin Russo and this is my sister Alex. And, uh…"
Alex sighed. "We're wizards. We have wands, and magic powers." She said as she held up hers'. "My brother is a monster hunter, so we are tracking down that creature." She pointed to the miniature sized creature, which is still picking the bullets out of its body. "That's what killed everyone here in Brooklyn."
"Alex!" Justin admonished, with frustration in his voice. "Again, didn't you learn anything from Crumbs' test? You don't expose magic, ever."
Instead of showing remorse, Alex rolled her eyes. "Well, what was I supposed to tell them, that we're aliens or something?" At Justin's 'that would've been better' expression, she shrugged. "Eh, what can I say, I guess I'm going through the honesty phase? It'll pass, I'm sure."
That is when Jake suddenly remembered, they must be the wizards Doug Judy was talking about yesterday.
"Hey wait a minute, you two are one of the wizards that exist here in New York City!" Jake exclaimed as he got into this confrontation.
"Yeah, that's right!" Alex replied. "We are actually a family of wizards living here." Jake was in excitement when he found out that the rumor was true and that magic existed.
"Wait, wait, hold on a sec, what kind of wizards are you?" Amy asked, she is actually seemed to also be enjoying in this confrontation, also amused by the siblings' banter and amazed by the supposed existence of wizards and magic. "Like in the book Charmed and Dangerous?" Amy asked them and Jake was surprised. "I used to read them when my partner and I were still in the NYPD academy and I loved them so much."
Justin chucked. "Yeah, actually our friend, Harper, got one of us to send her back in time so she could write and sell all those books, which is based on our lives." He said and then he paused. "I'm still wondering how any of us thought that was a good idea. It makes me worried that Alex becomes the family wizard after all."
"Says the guy who panicked and let the mortals know that we are here." Alex snapped. "If we did things my way, we would've been able to capture the lizard creature and sneak away without getting arrested. Sure, those two cops would've ended up in therapy, but again not my fault."
"This is getting way out of hand; I better reconfigure this situation." Jake said to himself. Despite this impossible conversation, he and Amy made sense of this mess. "Hey, 'those two cops' are actually us. I'm Jake Peralta, a detective with the 99th precinct of the NYPD and this is my wife Amy Santiago, the sergeant of the uniformed officers at the 99th Precinct. Look, my wife and I know what is going on, but usually we will take you two down to the precinct where you would wait in jail until your parents take you home which you will tell my other detectives the truth, that is the real truth."
"You know what, I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner." Justin said as he held up his wand. At Alex's look, he explained. "I'll just cast a memory spell on them so they forget the monster and us. Problem solved."
As both Jake and Amy's eyes widened, not knowing and curious by what exactly he meant by that, it is when Jake slapped Amy's shoulder and she stepped in. "Whoa, whoa, what my partner is saying was that we will usually arrest you two and have both of you wait for your parents as another detective demands the truth from you. But here is the deal…how about we both promise to keep our mouths shut and let both of you go?"
"Yeah, and you make this scene looked like that we killed the creature and that you cast a spell which a replica of the monster is here, but dead so that our friends will believe that the creature is dead and we killed it." Jake suggested and with that, both Justin and Alex agreed.
With the help of Jake and Amy, Alex casts a spell in which a copy of the creature was made but in its original form. Justin casts another spell in which the creature is dead and has bullet holes in it, he also casts a spell that had Amy's walkie-talkie's battery charged to one-hundred percent and he even gave her the co-ordinates of their location.
"Wow, guys! It's been an exciting time meeting you two!" Jake said to Justin and Alex Russo as he and Amy shaked both their hands and thanking the siblings for saving them. Jake and Amy both promised that they will never ever tell anyone about them and with that the siblings left with the monster in its cage, waving goodbye. Amy later calls Rosa on her now-magically fully charged walkie-talkie telling them their location and that they are fine.
As soon as Detective Charles Boyle, Detective Rosa Diaz, Captain Raymond Holt, Sergeant Terry Jeffords along with Detectives Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully arrived, they were shocked to see the creature dead, not aware that it is created by two wizards.
"Peralta, Santiago! There you are, you both okay?" Captain Holt asked.
"We're fine, Captain!" Jake said.
"What happened?" Sergeant Jeffords asked.
"Oh, we saw the monster and ran, but not before we killed it with our guns!" Amy said, pointing at the creature that has bullet holes.
"Wow, is that a giant lizard?" Detective Charles asked.
"Sure is Charles, give me five!" Jake said and he and Charles high-fived.
"Man, that is one gigantic-ass creature that I have ever seen!" Detective Rosa said as she looked at the creature that is dead by the bullet holes. "You know, you guys are going to get a Medal of Valor for this."
Jake and Amy both looked at each other and smiled, they didn't tell them that they met two teenage wizards that saved them because they made a promise to both of them.
"Hey speaking of which, let's get out of here. This place is almost starting to stink bad." Detective Hitchcock said.
"I'm also kind of getting hungry, I saw a ladder a couple of kilometers away from here." Detective Scully suggested and Rosa radioed in her walkie-talkie that the threat in the sewers is eliminated and that the mission is accomplished.
And after taking a few photos and selfies of the dead creature, Jake and his entire team head to the ladder that Scully mentioned and left the sewers. Jake and Amy as of now never told anyone including their friends at the precinct about the wizards that saved them. Jake now has learned that wizards do exist and one day, he and Amy will thank Justin and Alex for saving their lives.
THE END
