"On your marks… Get set… EAT!"

CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!

GULP! GULP! GULP!

As soon as the announcer gave the start-off signal, Pac-Man and Kirby set off into motion. The two colourful round balls were competing against one another in an eating race. They darted side-by-side, devouring up everything which lay in their path, both determined to finish first.

"Go, Pac-Man, Go!"

"You can do it, Kirby!"

On the left of the race react was a large crowd all dressed in yellow while on the right were spectators clad in pink. They were all holding up banners and waving flags in their respective team's collar. The stadium was filled to the roof with yells and cheers of support for the pair of racers.

Pac-Man and Kirby paid no attention to the shouting crowds. They were too focused on the contest they were in the middle of. The two rivals were determined to beat one another at what they did best - which was eating anything that stood in their way.

All the food that had been laid along the race track was devoured up by the ever-hungry racers.

They ate strawberries.

They ate apples.

They ate tomatoes.

They ate bombs.

Pc-Man and Kirby suddenly stopped. They gazed at one another, their jaws gaping open in shared horror.

What they had just eaten was not food. In fact, it was downright dangerous. They had been too focused on one-uping each other to notice it in their path. Only after they had swallowed it while had the lair realised their mistake.

Soft rumbling sounds came from the racers' tummies. They exchanged nervous gazes. What they were could hear coming from their stomached didn't sound like indigestion. They knew exactly what it was - and what was going to happen next.

Pac-Man gulped.

So did Kirby.

BOOM!

An pair of enormous explosions filled the stadium. The noise they made shook the roofs as it caused everyone in the crowds to scream. Thick grey smoke filled the entire arena, billowing from the opening mouths of the two stunned competitors.

"Unfortunately, neither Pac-Man nor Kirby has won the contest," the announced called into his microphone. "Although the end of this event was far from anticlimactic. I'm sure all of you watching will agree this event has been a blast!"
