Prompt: won't tell him
"Remember, Sora, let's try to keep this a secret," Riku said as they stood in the marble entrance hall.
"Don't worry, Riku! I won't tell Aqua anything!"
"Won't tell me what?"
"Uhhh," he faltered as he looked to the young woman standing nearby.
"What are you two doing over here, anyway?" she asked as she joined the duo. When neither one answered, she looked to the large doors. "You know it's dangerous outside right now," she reminded, concerned the kids may have been planning to venture out.
"We were going to look for Kairi," Riku confessed. Aqua was taken back by the news.
"You mean she's not inside?"
"It's the only place we haven't looked."
It's not like Kairi to do something like this. "You two wait here, I'll find her," Aqua said with firm authority before heading out.
The quickest way to find Kairi was on glider, which gave a clear view of the somewhat dreary world they currently lived in. The world was once the Land of Departure, though that was difficult to imagine now as it had since been transformed into a very different place. The inviting castle that had been called home was currently in a dormant state; now a foreboding structure filled with halls of desolate white. Even the mountains, streams, and training grounds were gone, replaced by an abyss with a single, winding path connecting to the castle. Once one went far enough down this road, however, the world didn't appear so bleak. A dirt crossroad lined with tall grass awaited at the end, and beyond that were fields of vibrant green. They may have lived in the darkest part of the land, but it was presently the safest, as monsters had begun to roam freely about the worlds ever since the realm had fallen victim to the Keyblade War.
Aqua watched for Kairi from atop her vehicle, struggling to find the girl with all the overgrown grass that covered the area.
"There!" she called when she spotted the child running from a monster.
Kairi fell, and the creature made a jump for her. Before it could strike however, Aqua landed herself in between the two, delivering a sharp kick into the side of the creature, knocking it aside.
Another monster leapt from the tall grass, but was quickly taken down with the Keyblade as transient petals filled the air. With blade in hand, Aqua closed the distance with the first enemy and dispatched it before it could recover from its stun.
A period of silence fell, indicating that the battle was presently over. Aqua let out a breath as she dissipated her weapon.
"It's safe now," she assured as she knelt down to the girl's level. Kairi, who had been covering herself protectively, stood up with a smile.
"Thank you," she chimed.
"I'm glad you're safe, Kairi. But, what exactly are you doing out here?" In reply, the girl showed her the flowers she had been carrying, which were now bent and a few petals short. "You were collecting these?" Aqua eyed the bouquet with astonishment; they were flowers that she only ever knew to bloom in the Land of Departure. I didn't know they could still grow out here.
"Mmhmm," Kairi nodded. "They're for Ven! Grandma always said that flowers help people get better."
"Well, she was right," Aqua said with a gentle laugh. "Ven will love these." Kairi giggled in reply. "But first, promise you won't leave without my permission again," Aqua added with serious worry. "It's not safe out here." Kairi nodded, and Aqua gave her a kind pat on the head before standing. "Good. Come on, let's get these flowers to him."
"Oh," Kairi called worriedly. "You won't tell him, will you, Aqua?"
"It's our secret, Kairi."
