Gilligan's Island: The Hunt

Days had passed since George Barkley had left the island and left the castaways still stranded. Everyone was upset that they hadn't been able to get in contact with the mainland, however was happy that George hadn't been able to collect the money from the contest. Especially since the money had been in the radio the whole time, and he had thrown that into the sea to stop them from contacting anyone to tell him, he hadn't indeed been alone the whole week. Since there wasn't any reason to be upset about something they couldn't control, the castaways went about their daily routines.

One morning however Gilligan woke with a headache and was feeling slightly cold. He figured it was just from not sleeping under his blanket the night before so he got up and went to check the lobster traps. After breakfast that morning, he realized he felt slightly better but knew if he still felt bad later, he would go and talk to the Professor. Once he got his chores done, Gilligan went down to the lagoon to relax for a while.

After a while of listening, he noticed the radio had a lot of static. Since he figured it was a storm elsewhere, he turned it off but then looked up when a Bell 47 helicopter flew over him landing in the lagoon. He watched with excitement until he realized he needed to go see who was there. He hoped it would be someone to rescue them this time and not some person who promised them, and then break it like others had done before. As he approached the edge of the lagoon, he watched two men come out, both dressed as hunters.

"Hey! Hey we're saved! Hey mister!" Gilligan yelled, "I'm so glad to see you!"

"Name's Kincaid, Jonathan Kincaid." The man with the hat smiled.

"I'm Gilligan, boy am I glad to see you. We been shipwrecked for so long."

"You mean there are others?" Kincaid questioned.

Gilligan nodded, "Yeah there's seven of us, on the other side. I gotta tell them about you, please come!"

When Kincaid saw Gilligan about to leave, he stopped him, "Hey do you have any game on this island?"

"Games? Skipper's got checkers." Gilligan smiled.

"No I mean animals, wild boar."

"Oh no, we don't have anything like that. Come on, got to tell the others." Gilligan rushed off.

Kincaid waited until Gilligan had left before he turned towards his companion Ramoo, "We're going hunting!"

"No game though." Ramoo remarked.

"Not four legged, but I think it's time I track the most challenging game, humans." Kincaid grinned evil as he began walking towards the camp of the others.

A few minutes passed before Kincaid and Ramoo entered into the camping area finding the seven castaways waiting with Gilligan. They all rushed forward pleading for him to rescue him. While he explained a boat would be here in a few days, what he didn't really tell him was that he was going to hunt one of them like an animal. And if he managed to succeed, there was no way he was going to tell anyone about of the castaways.

Each of the castaways disappeared to go and pack what belongings they had. Kincaid questioned Ramoo which one was going to be their victims. Ramoo remarked it didn't matter to him as Kincaid made it a chance of going around to talk to each of them. He asked certain questions that would help him with making the big decision. He knew the women wouldn't prove a good challenge, so he focused on the men. Mr. Howell would be out of the game very quickly, and the Professor knew too much about books, not sports. That left him with Gilligan or the Skipper. He went to talk to them finding them packing in their hut.

"Gilligan, hand me my chest would you?" Skipper asked before noticing Kincaid was there, "Oh hey Kincaid, what do you think about our little island?"

"It's a nice place, but I'll be glad to get back on the mainland." Kincaid commented.

Gilligan grabbed the chest and lifted it up onto the table but was hit with a wave of dizziness as he reached out to grab the table, "Whoa."

"Little buddy, you alright?" Skipper looked concerned.

"I'm okay Skipper, just got dizzy." Gilligan stated, "I think I need to sit down, the room spinning."

The Skipper grabbed onto Gilligan finding warmth coming off of him, "You're warm little buddy, here sit right here. Kincaid, could you get the Professor?"

"Sure no problem." Kincaid smiled.

The Professor came within minutes with his bag checking over Gilligan and asking him questions about how he had been feeling. After a while, he told Gilligan to get some rest and asked the Skipper to come outside. The Skipper looked worried as he sat down at the table waiting for the Professor to tell him what was going on. The Professor explained that Gilligan must have caught a bug or cold from George Barkley. And although it wasn't serious now, they should still get him checked out once they got back to the mainland. For now, he would just let him rest in his hammock until dinner time and then he check on him again.

By dinner, Skipper was relieved that Gilligan was looking better and the Professor allowed him to come sit with them. They had put up a banner saying farewell to the island, and even sang for Kincaid. However Kincaid soon turned from the gentle man, to explaining he was there for a hunt and a hunt is what he was going to get. He looked at all of them remarking which one he should hunt. They all looked shocked and swore they weren't going to be hunted, that it was cruel. He just crossed his arms remarking that the only way they were going to be rescued if he hunted one. If the person lasted 24 hours without being found, then he would save them.

"I think I chose you Gilligan." Kincaid smirked.

"No, take me!" Skipper shouted when he saw his little buddy pale.

"He's not well, it wouldn't be proper!" Professor shouted.

"You're beyond evil, I don't want to be rescued." Ginger told him.

"Same here." Mary Ann agreed.

Mr. and Mrs. Howell nodded, "We rather be stuck here, than see you hunt the boy who is not well."

"Whether or not you want to be rescued, I'm going to have my hunt. Ramoo take the others to the cave we found earlier, Gilligan, get some rest for tomorrow the hunt begins." Kincaid stated.

The others argued they weren't going until Ramoo held up the gun which he assured them was loaded. They all told Gilligan they would figure out a way out of this situation, and not let Kincaid do anything. Gilligan nodded but didn't feel right, although he was glad it had been him. He couldn't stand by and know that one of the girls was going to be hunted. Or even Mr. Howell, or the Professor let alone the Skipper. He went to his hut and lay in his hammock trying to figure out his strategy for tomorrow.

The more he tried to think, the more his head was beginning to hurt again and his nose was feeling stuffy. He grabbed his blanket and curled up with it trying to drift off to sleep. He wished he could feel the heat but it was so cold and knew tomorrow was going to be the longest day of his life. After a while he managed to drift off to sleep, but it was restless with him tossing and turning in the hammock. By six the next morning he was being shaken awake by Kincaid. Gilligan groaned and got out of his hammock feeling the room spinning again. He took deep breaths knowing he had to survive the 24 hours in order to get the others rescued. And he wasn't going to let them down on this one thing. Kincaid took him out to the trees and told him he would give him a ten minute head start. Gilligan didn't have to be told twice as he took off in through the trees.

Kincaid went to check on his prisoner's glad to see Ramoo had his spear pointed at them while they were stuck behind a wall of bamboo as a cage. They all yelled at him remarking he would never catch Gilligan. Kincaid remarked that he would find their friend and put a bullet through his chest once he caught him. Each of them cried out for him to take them instead of Gilligan, but he just smiled and walked away. He pulled his gun off his shoulder and began the hunt. One that he knew he was going to enjoy and then once Gilligan was dead, he would come back to either destroy the rest or leave them in that cave.

As the hours passed, Kincaid was beginning to wonder how he hadn't spotted Gilligan any. Not even once had he crossed the kids path and knew if he didn't find him soon, the hunt might be lost. And he never lost any hunts, and he wasn't going to start now. Meanwhile Gilligan had been hidden at the top of one of the palm trees. He had curled up in a ball and was currently listening to see if Kincaid was around. While he was thirsty and wanted water, he didn't dare leave to go down. He had been up there for hours and his neck and face was burnt from the sun, but no matter how red he was, he still couldn't feel the heat. His body shook from the cold and he had curled up in order to keep himself from being seen.

"Gilligan!" Kincaid yelled, "I know you're out there!"

Gilligan jerked awake not realizing he had passed out, almost falling out of the tree but managing to hold on. He looked below and saw Kincaid holding his rifle looking around the trees. Luckily Kincaid wasn't looking up or he would have seen Gilligan leaning over the palm tree leaves. What Gilligan didn't expect was Kincaid to raise his rifle in the air firing a shot. As pain flared up on his right shoulder, Gilligan bit down on his lip to keep from screaming out. He looked at his arm noticing luckily it was just a graze but knew he would have to get it wrapped up soon. But that would also mean leaving the safety of the tree which he wasn't sure he wanted to do or not.

Meanwhile back at the prison, the castaways all jumped when they heard the gunshots. Mary Ann and Ginger held onto each other fearing the worst as they waited for Kincaid to come back. But as the minutes went by, Kincaid didn't emerge and that meant Gilligan was still alive. Skipper had been trying to break the bars in order to get to Ramoo, before going after Kincaid to hurt him if he hurt Gilligan. He manages to get one part broke but Ramoo rushes over with the spear pushing him backwards.

"When we get out of this, I will get you!" Skipper yelled.

"Ramoo don't care." He remarked.

Professor growled, "You will when we get done with you, let us go!"

"Not time yet, 24 hour not up." He replied.

"I don't care, let us go!" Mr. Howell yelled, "Our poor boy is out there trying to stay alive."

Ramoo ignored them as he turned his back towards them to await the time when Kincaid came back. Another couple of hours passed for Kincaid and still he had yet to find or even spot Gilligan. He thought that gunshot he let out would have scared Gilligan out of hiding. But either Gilligan wasn't around, or he was smarter than he thought. Gilligan however was getting so thirsty he thought he was going to die. His throat was dry as a desert and he needed water, plus his arm was bleeding slightly since he hadn't gotten anything to wrap around it. Eventually his need for water won out on him as he slide down the tree as gently as he could but with his arm hurting, he wasn't able to hold on as tight.

As his feet touched the ground, he felt his legs buckle underneath him and he fell to his knees. He began to shiver uncontrollably as he grabbed his arm and tried to get up. He knew he had to get to the water trough they had so he could get some water before he went back to his hiding spot. Quick as he could, he began going through the trees until he got there. He had gotten to the water and was kneeling down to get a drink of water when he heard the rifle being cocked. He gulped and took off running as he heard a shot knowing he had to get away.

A few minutes before that, Mrs. Howell had gotten fed up with waiting. With more strength than the others gave her credit for, she untied to bamboo and stepped out. She faced down Ramoo and then when she started walking past him, Ramoo started to go after him. Skipper and the Professor grabbed Ramoo dragging him back until Mr. Howell knocked him out. They tied him up with some vines and left him in the cave before the guys went after Kincaid while the girls went back to the safety of the camp. The Skipper, Professor and Mr. Howell traveled until they came across Kincaid aiming at Gilligan who was knelt in front of the water. They could see he had been wounded, and it was at that moment Skipper saw red.

Before the other two could react, the Skipper rushed to Kincaid knocking him down as the gun went off and Gilligan was running through the trees. Skipper began pushing Kincaid down and punching him until Professor and Mr. Howell was struggling to pull him off. The Skipper grabbed for the gun and slammed it against the tree watching it break as he turned to Kincaid telling him to go get his goon and leave the island to never return. Kincaid barely nodded as he scrambled to get to his feet and head off. As the men were running through the woods to find Gilligan, they saw the helicopter taking off glad to know their friend wouldn't be harmed.

They came across Gilligan curled up behind a rock, holding his arm and rocking back and forth pleading for Kincaid not to find him. The Skipper looked to the Professor and Mr. Howell who told him to go. Skipper nodded gently kneeling down next to his little buddy touching his arm gently. Gilligan instantly bolted upright and was backing away pleading for him to leave him alone. The Professor came over noticing Gilligan wasn't looking at them. They all began to gently talk to him until Gilligan seemed to blink a few times and see them.

"Skipper, Professor, Mr. Howell?" Gilligan looked puzzled before he began shaking, "No you have to leave or else he will find you. You have to go please!"

"Little buddy, Kincaid left. I took care of him, he won't bother you again." Skipper smiled.

"But the hunt isn't over…." Gilligan felt confused.

"It is my boy, we took care of him. You won." Mr. Howell said.

Professor nodded, "Yes, you won."

"Skipper I was so scared!" Gilligan lunged into his friend's arms crying and shaking, "I hide in the trees, he didn't find me. But I was thirsty, I wanted water but then I heard the gun and I was afraid."

Skipper gently picked him up glad to see the wound on his arm was nothing but a graze from the rifle, "Shhh little buddy, it's all over now. You just relax and let us take care of you. Professor, he's burning up."

"Let's get him back to the huts, I need to examine him and get that wound cleaned up." Professor remarked.

"I'm so cold….Skipper." Gilligan grabbed onto his friends shirt taking in the smell of the sea.

Mr. Howell took off his jacket draping it over Gilligan, "Here you go my boy."

"But my arm…I'll get jacket dirty." Gilligan tried to push it away.

"I have plenty my boy, just let's take care of you." Mr. Howell smiled.

Gilligan took the jacket wrapping it around him as the Skipper carried him back to the huts where the girls were all sitting around the table. Upon seeing Gilligan, they all cried out and rushed over to him but were held back by the Professor. He instructed Skipper to take Gilligan into his hut and lay him on the bed. While Skipper took Gilligan, the Professor asked the girls to bring some water and bandages. They rushed off to do as asked while the Professor went into his hut to start looking over Gilligan. He saw the sunburn Gilligan had gotten from being up in the tree for so long. He wished he had some aloe on the island, but knew coconut milk would help as well. He would have to get someone to get him some but first, he wanted to take care of the bullet graze.

The Professor wished he had dealt with Kincaid as well but was relieved to know Skipper had taken care of him instead. Speaking of the Skipper, Professor looked around and noticed Skipper standing towards the door as if he was afraid to approach Gilligan. Professor sighed going over to the Skipper, assuring him that Gilligan would be better with time. The main thing was the fever and the bullet graze. Skipper wrung his hat in his hands swearing he had wanted to kill Kincaid. Professor agreed with him on that but stated that he was now gone and knew he wouldn't come back.

"Skip…per…" Gilligan moaned trying to look around and get up.

Skipper rushed over to him gently pushing him back down, "Easy little buddy, I'm here."

"Hurts….cold….what happened..?" He blinked trying to focus.

"Here's the water and bandages Professor!" Mary Ann came into the hut holding the water followed by Ginger, plus the Howells, "Gilligan!"

"Girls….safe?" Gilligan questioned.

"Everyone is safe thanks to you my boy." Mr. Howell assured him.

"Alright everyone out except the Skipper, I will need his help." Professor ordered seeing everyone's drawn faces, "However if I could get a few of you to get me some coconut milk, I'm going to need it for Gilligan's sunburn."

They each rushed out to try and find some coconuts to bring back to the Professor. Professor knelt down beside Gilligan examining the wound knowing he would need to clean it with water before he wrapped it up. He instructed Skipper to hold Gilligan since it was going to hurt. Skipper gently held Gilligan down assuring the Professor he was ready. Gilligan had gone quiet again but when he felt pain, he cried out and tried to move away. Skipper tightened his grip on him whispering that it would be over soon.

"Please Skipper….make it stop!" Gilligan pleaded.

Skipper felt a tear come out, "Sorry little buddy but it's going to be over soon. Professor has to clean the wound."

"Almost done Gilligan." Professor assured him.

"Stop…please Professor…I'll do anything…" Gilligan pleaded wishing they knew how much it hurt and how bad he was feeling.

The Professor could see Skipper trying to hold back the tears as he continued cleaning the wound before he finally announced that he was done. Gilligan went still as Skipper began to panic but Professor assured him that he had just passed out. The Skipper took one of the rags the Professor had in the corner before he dipped it into the water beginning to wipe down Gilligan's face which was burning up with fever. After the arm was bandaged, the Professor assured Skipper he would be just fine soon as they get his fever down.

"Professor," Mary Ann called out from the door.

"It's alright Mary Ann, you can come in." Professor smiled.

Mary Ann entered holding a few coconuts, "I hope this is enough for you."

"It's plenty, thanks. Maybe you could fix some soup for Gilligan to drink when he wakes." Professor asked.

"Oh yes of course I'll start right away." Mary Ann smiled rushing out of the hut.

Gilligan sat on top of the tree waiting for Kincaid to leave. He watched him until he was out of sight before he dared climb down to look for water. His arm was bleeding but he didn't feel any pain as he climbed down. He ran through the trees as fast and quiet as he could before he got to the water. He managed to take a few sips before he heard Kincaid's rifle behind him. He went to stand up and run but heard the shot.

Gilligan jerked up in bed instantly grabbing onto his arm as he felt pain. It was bandaged, but he hadn't done that. Kincaid, his mind cried out, he had to get away. He had to stay far away from the huts so that his friends were safe. But as he went to stand up, his knees betrayed him and he fell to the ground. When he heard the door of the hut opening, he scrambled to hide underneath the bed. He knew it was stupid but at least he would have a slight chance if Kincaid didn't see him crawl under. When hands reached to pull him out, he began screaming and crying out.

"Gilligan!" Skipper yelled.

"Skipper…you have to leave. Kincaid is coming!" Gilligan pleaded with his friend.

Professor sighed, "He's delirious, Gilligan, you have a high fever. Please come out and let us help you."

"Kincaid is gone little buddy, your Skipper took care of him." Skipper assured him.

"You got him?" Gilligan asked inching out of the bed.

Professor chuckled, "Yes, he beat him good."

"Here little buddy, let's get you back to bed." Skipper gently picked him up and laid him on the bed putting the wet cloth back on his forehead.

"Cold…arm hurts…" Gilligan muttered.

"You're going to be just fine. The Professor is going to take good care of you, and we even put some coconut milk on your sunburn to help." Skipper smiled.

"I did good…right Skipper…I stayed away….he never found me." Gilligan shivered.

"Yes you did excellent little buddy, now get some rest." Skipper nodded, "Mary Ann is making you some soup to drink later.

Gilligan drifted off to sleep as the Professor pulled the blanket up over him. Together they took turns watching over him, and keeping the rag cool on his forehead. When the soup was ready, Skipper gently woke him and helped him sit up slightly to be able to drink. Ginger brought the soup in and began feeding Gilligan while telling him a story about a brave knight and an evil wizard. By the end of the story, the soup was half gone and Gilligan was sleeping sitting up. The Skipper eased him back down and thanked Ginger for the story. Ginger smiled and assured it was nothing as she took the bowl away. Since he seemed to be resting easier, Skipper and Professor went to get some food as well.

Gilligan was at the water when he heard Kincaid. He started to bolt but stopped when Kincaid yelled that he should stop if he wanted his friend to live. Gilligan turned back around to find the Skipper tied to a tree and Kincaid aiming his rifle at him. He shook his head demanding he take him and not the Skipper. The Skipper told him not to worry about him, and take care of everyone. Gilligan began crying wanting nothing more than to save his friend. He couldn't lose his friend, he needed him and everyone else. But Kincaid didn't seem to care about that as he told him to make his choice.

"Let him go!" Gilligan yelled.

"No I think I'm going to just go against you. I've gotten tired of the hunt and figured just shooting all of you one by one is much fun. Starting with your precious Skipper." Kincaid smirked.

"No Skipper!" Gilligan pleaded, "Take me!"

"Sorry, not your choice. Goodbye Skipper." Kincaid fired aiming right at Skipper's chest.

"Skipper no!" Gilligan shot up in bed covered in sweat.

The Skipper had been at the door watching everyone eating breakfast when he jumped at Gilligan's screams. He rushed over to him, "Gilligan, it's me. It's alright, it was just a nightmare."

"Skipper, you're alive." Gilligan looked up.

Skipper nodded, "Yeah, Kincaid didn't get me remember."

"Oh Skipper!" Gilligan threw himself against his friend sobbing into his shirt.

Skipper maneuvered them both on the bed as he held Gilligan while he cried, "Easy little buddy, it's alright. Skipper's here and no one is going to hurt you ever again."

"But Kincaid…he shot you." Gilligan sobbed.

"It was nothing but a nightmare, I'm alright. See no wounds." Skipper smiled showing him before Gilligan clung to him.

"Skipper?" Professor called out from the doorway with the others.

Skipper turned to look at everyone motioning them to come in, "His fever broke. I think he's going to be just fine."

Professor came over touching the back of Gilligan's neck nodding, "You're right, thank heavens."

"I'm scared Skipper…afraid he'll come back." Gilligan whimpered.

Skipper turned Gilligan to see everyone, "I want you to listen here, if Kincaid dares show his face on this island again, he won't have me to deal with, but all of us."

"That's right my boy, a Howell never goes back on his word." Mr. Howell nodded.

Mrs. Howell agreed, "Yes, we are here to protect you."

"I would love to beat him up just like a movie I was once in." Ginger remarked.

"I had brothers, I know how to fight." Mary Ann promised.

"You are safe Gilligan, now get some rest. If he comes back in your nightmares, we will chase him away." Professor promised.

"Thank you everyone…stay." Gilligan pleaded as he drifted off to sleep in Skipper's arms.

"We aren't going anywhere little buddy, that's a promise." Skipper smiled knowing they wouldn't break their promise and stay with him until he was back to their clumsy little buddy.

The End.
