This is for my piece for the Prompto ship zine Heart and Soul. It was a lot of fun writing for this rare pair.

When Ravus first arrived in Niflheim, he didn't hold a lot of expectations. It was just as cold and barren as he would have thought. He had heard rumors that outside of the winter season it was a more beautiful place, but as if right now his opinion of the landscape wasn't too high.

He was brought through the main entrance of Niflheim's castle, which for whatever reason was called Zegnautus Keep. It was far from a very regal sounding name, but Ravus wasn't going to question it all too much.

Being brought through the halls, he soon entered the throne room, and much to his surprise he didn't see the Emperor there. Instead, he saw a young man with blond hair, styled in the most bizarre way.

It was the Emperor's son, Prompto.

When their eyes met, Prompto offered a friendly smile before bowing. "Hello Prince Ravus Nox Fleuret. I'm pleased to see you arrive safely. Was the journey a safe one?"

"Yes, it was quite peaceful. Where is Emperor Iedolas?"

"He's currently attending to some matters, so I will be here to fill in," Prompto answered.

Ravus hummed. He hadn't expected to have a chance to be around the young prince. There was very little known about him personally, only countless news stories saying that he was the 'sunshine of Niflheim'.

Ravus honestly thought it was all just propaganda. Niflheim always wanted to be the best of the kingdoms so why wouldn't they over glorify the heir to the throne? It seemed just like something that they would pull. All of it was over exaggerated nonsense to Ravus, but he had to hope that the prince was at least competent and not just a figurehead.

At the same time, he could see why Prompto held that title that the throne and public had given him. The smile really was a selling point.

"Please, if you can follow me, I will lead us to a room where we can better discuss diplomatic matters," Prompto said after a moment.

Ravus hadn't even realized he never answered the first time. He had gotten too lost in his thoughts and internally he felt some embarrassment stinging at his sides.

"Yes, of course. I believe that would be best."

Prompto signaled for the guards to go off to their posts and then turned to head down the next hallway. He smiled slightly, motioning for Ravus to follow. Quickly, Ravus moved closer to Prompto, closing the large gap that had been between them.

He watched as Prompto gracefully moved down the halls, the flaps of his royal uniform gentle waving behind him. He walked so regally, just as it was expected of a prince. He was everything that a prince was supposed to be, and Ravus internally apologized for misjudging him.

When they arrived at a door, Prompto unlocked it and held it open for Ravus. "You first, Prince Ravus."

"Please, Ravus is perfectly fine," Ravus said before stepping in.

Prompto smiled and closed the door behind him once he was also in the room. "Oh good. Then please do the same for me. Hearing 'Prince Prompto' all the time really gets tiring y'know?"

Ravus's eyes widened, staring at Prompto whose entire demeanor seemed to have shifted. "Pardon?"

"You know how it feels, servants and everyone catering to you all day. It's really draining. So while we're here, behind closed doors, we can let loose and relax. No need for all the royal protocols."

Still confused, Ravus watched as Prompto walked over to the chair. His energy even in walking was different now, looking much more loose than proper.

"Do you mean to imply that all of that back there was a ruse?"

"What? No! Not a ruse, just uh… guess you could call it my alter ego," Prompto laughed. "I try to keep the masses pleased with all the royal things they expect of me, but honestly I prefer to just relax and have fun. Don't you feel that way?"

"I don't… I've never considered it in such a way."

"Well I guess while you're here, I need to show you the art of 'just relaxing and not doing all the boring prince stuff'. How's that sound?" Prompto offered with another one of his smiles.

Ravus could feel his heart grow warm from the smile. It was truly so infectious that it could reach him from across the room. "I suppose it wouldn't be the worst."

"Good! Now before we get down to business I have one other question."

"And that is?"

"How's that arm?"

Prompto was pointing to Ravus's left arm- his Magitek arm. His arm had been lost in the war, and as a replacement, the Magitek army graciously gave him a prosthetic replacement. While it was a bit large and clunky, it was durable and useful to Ravus. He had grown accustomed to it within a few weeks after the surgery.

"It's as well as an arm can be I suppose," Ravus admitted. "Nothing more than that?"

"You sure? If I'm being honest the army did a really crappy job."

Ravus raised an eyebrow towards Prompto. "And how would you know about something like that?"

A small smirk crossed Prompto's lips. "I may know a thing or two about technology and mechanics."

"More so than the army itself? The army that's full of MTs?"

"Yeah, but they still don't know as much as me. Plus, if I'm being honest, that design is really clunky and ugly," Prompto said.

Now Ravus had his full attention on Prompto. The blond seemed to be rather confident in what he talked about, but that still didn't prove anything. Just because he said he knew it, didn't mean he truly knew the craft.

Though, on the other hand, the way he spoke seemed to be rather convincing. Maybe there was some truth to the mysterious other side of the Niflheim prince. Ravus found the pull of curiosity to be stronger than before, and he wished to know the answers of the questions growing in his mind.

With a hum, Ravus held out his mechanical arm towards Prompto. "Well, what would you do if you could design it?"

Prompto reached over and placed a hand on the arm. He looked up at Ravus and started to grin even warmer than before. It reached all the way through to Ravus's own heart, the warmth echoing inside his chest.

"I would do a complete overhaul. Change up the colors a bit and make it much more sleek. The movements also should be reworked so the fluid motions feel much more free to move around. I've seen you move the arm, it's so stiff and bulky. They really did a crappy job on this."

Prompto then looked up at Ravus, his eyes wide with excitement. "So you'll actually let me do this? Let me rework your arm to make it totally cool and new? I would be so honored if I could!"

"Honored? What reason would you need to be honored?"

"Because!" Prompto exclaimed, leaning forward. "You're Ravus Nox Fleuret! You are the amazing prince who fought in a great war. You lived and became an even more badass cyborg!"

Ravus snorted. "And that's the takeaway?"

Prompto turned his head away, his cheeks turning the slightest bit red. "Well that, but also you're really um…"

He scratched the back of his head, chuckling nervously. "You're really handsome."

Carefully Ravus placed his own hand on top of Prompto's. He watched the young prince flinch slightly, but stare with wide eyes.

"Thank you for the compliment, Prompto. I appreciate your kindness, but you don't need to overly praise me to get in my good graces."

"No, I'm serious! You're so awesome and freaking beautiful! I've never seen anyone else quite like you."

"And you truly mean that?" Ravus asked. "This isn't just some farce to gain anything from me?"

Prompto shook his head. "Ravus I assure you, on my honor as a prince, every word I speak is honest and true."

Leaning his face in closer, Prompto smiled again. His smile was so bright and warm like each time before, and truly Ravus did want to see more of it. If Prompto was true to his word, then maybe he could get just that.
