Boo. Smaller chapter :(
Chapter 2
Mew had been watching the Ketchum boy for several years now. What had once been just another boring assignment by Arceus - one that stopped it from playing around and having fun… had transformed into something… more.
Mew hadn't bought into the Ash Ketchum merchandise craze… not like some of the other Legendaries. But the boring pokemon had slowly found itself caring about the little upstart. The boy showed such compassion to not just the pokemon in his team, but everyone he came across in his travels.
The Chosen One also had a nact of attracting trouble. Exactly how many Legendaries had the boy not only met, but actually helped? And those ungrateful snobs didn't even give the boy anything in return! Ugh, they're children! All of them!
But now wasn't the time for this.
The boy had collapsed… having some kind of meltdown over Ho-oh's blessing. How the boy had never figured it out was outstanding to the pink Legendary, but it had never truly understood human emotions properly. Mew watched for a few more moments, floating invisibly above the sobbing boy - and took note of Ash's slow recovery thanks to Brock.
Ugh… mother would want to know about this. Arceus had never been a great mother… kind of hard when you've got to keep the literal incarnations of time and space under your constant thumb… and the whole, ruler of the world thing. But Mew… well, this Mew had been the first of the God's creations/children. Mew were playful creatures, but while they didn't have any official job titles, they acted as mother's eyes and ears in the world. And as the eldest child - she naturally got more responsibilities…
One of which was to watch over the Chosen One, but to not interfere with their journey. Unless there was a risk of them dying… Oh, how it had regretted that it had failed in that one job once. Mewtwo had gotten it so riled up…
Ugh… with a conscious effort, Mew pulled itself out of that memory, and flew off to the Throne of Creation to report. Mother had always known that the boy would suffer some form of trauma from all of his experiences with Legendaries. So she had instructed Mew to ensure that she was informed when it eventually manifested. How surprising it would come from his first experience with a Legendary… instead of say… one involving the end of the world.
When Mew arrived at the Hall of Creation, it was to find it cram-packed with Pokemon. Weaving through the other Legendaries, Mew slowly made her way to her mother's throne.
Arceus called the congestion to order with her usual stomp, and the hall fell silent. Grateful for the seace in movement, Mew dashed over to her mother's side and whispered her report into the God's ear. Then, she continued to her own seat beside the Creation Trio - a seat set behind Arceus' Throne.
"Legendary Pokemon!" Arceus began, "I have called you here today to discuss a very important topic with each and every one of you. I am sure by now, you are all very much aware of the Chosen One and his accomplishments."
There were some mummers that… the Pokemon that he had helped loved retelling the story as often as possible.
"But for eight long years now… there has been a time dilation enchantment hanging over the boy. Ash has been stuck as a ten-year-old for over eight years!" Arceus was barely holding back from screaming at this point. "Now pray tell," she continued bristling with cold fury, "Who put this enchantment in place, and WHY can't DIALGA, the LORD OF TIME - remove it?!"
The hall fell silent as they digested the God's words. A time-based effect that even Dialga couldn't remove? That meant the effect was getting reapplied constantly!
Slowly, a pokemon stood up… Its once-vibrant rainbow plumage now dimmed and trembling with fear.
"Ho-oh?" Arceus murmured, and quickly motioned for Dialga to pause time. The Pokemon gladly did so, the Creation Trio were always happy to flex their powers - especially in the Hall of Creation. A blue bubble formed between the royalty and the rest of the rabble, and the world crawled to a screeching halt outside.
The God then turned to her four children and sat there for several minutes in careful thought before shrugging, "I've got nothing. Do any of you remember Ho-oh having such power?"
Dialga appeared to frame jack for a moment, before pulling out a Pokedex… wait what? Since when did Dialga get a Pokedex, and where did it pull that out FROM? It wasn't like it wore clothing!
Seeing their disbelief, the pokemon just shrugged. I just teleported and got one. Relax, Lord of Time, remember? With that, the pokemon scanned the rainbow bird outside.
"Ho-oh, the rainbow pokemon. Its feathers ripple with seven colors. It is said that anyone seeing it is promised eternal happiness." the Pokedex chirped.
"Well, that could explain it," Diagia shrugs, "Not like any of us have a particularly good memory. How old is Ho-oh anyway? Few millennia? Honestly Arceus, again, you should have taken some notes."
"Hey! Written language hadn't even been invented yet!" the God complained, "Either way… what we can do about it is a more pressing matter. Let's get back into position and question Ho-oh."
Mew watched her siblings and mother climb back into their uncomfortable seats. They'd been doing this for a millennium… this act, like they were these noble beings who needed to be respected. Honestly, those three were hardly able to stop from leaping at each other's throats, much less properly ruling the world.
Once they had all been seated and looking regal, the time bubble burst, and the session resumed.
"Ho-oh… well, I suppose I should be grateful it was one of us. If humans had gotten their hands on time-warping technology…" Dialga spoke up, "Now pray tell - how does your power work exactly?"
The bird trembled a moment before giving a meak response, "Uh… As far as I can tell, if someone sees me - they stop aging. They can still… uh, die. And they heal from injuries… But uhm…"
"So you don't know," Arceus fumed, "Is what you're saying? Correct?"
The legendary's plumage dimmed even more, as the poor bird gave a nod, "I… I just wanted to give him a happy life, you know? I had this feeling that he'd solve Lugia's prophecy… I don't know if it was cause I'm his duo or what." The pokemon perked up, "And it was this really cool moment, like - Ash had just saved Pikachu, Pikachu saved Ash, and I… I wanted to get in on that action!"
Arceus just shook her head sadly, "I'll have you know, at this very minute - that trainer you wanted to 'help' is bawling his eyes out at Professor Oak's ranch, because of the very same 'blessing' you bestowed upon him."
So... a bit of a legendary chapter, if I do say so myself. Everyone meet Mew, she's the same one from Movie I. She doesn't like to get involved with all of these politics, so there. But Giratina and Palkia were oddly silent huh?
