It's cold, very cold. I got up off from the crunchy cold ground looking around the white vast snow around me. In a panic I quickly stood upright, to get an idea of where I was exactly. Shivering in my floral pink sweater and shorts and slip on house shoes, I gripped myself for warmth. Shit shit, how did I even get here. Where even is here ?
I was studying in my living room, I know I was in my living room for a fact. Watching my favorite show, Avatar the Last Airbender. I can't seem to remember what happened, to make me get here though. Now what's important is leaving, no way would I freeze to death out here.
I walked and looked around, and stopped dead in my tracks. A fire of smoke signal in the sky. Thank God someone was looking for me. It's better then being frozen out here. I quickly made my way towards to the fogged smoke, in the distance I hear children ? Laughing and light chatter.
I made my way closer and spotted a small snow wall circulating a few igloos and tents. Coming around the entrance, most of them gasped at seeing me. While the others gathered around the entrance to stare at me with there back to the village. I starred at there clothing startled. Immediately a tall familiar brown skinned, pony tailed man came around the corner. In a rush he pushed his weapon towards my face, " Who are you and what do you want?!".
My mind running wild in an instance, 'No way I'm here, I have to be dreaming. If so this is the most realest dream I've ever had. Or did I die, and some how..' "Answer me dammit!", he was persistent like always. My daydreaming got me caught up. I held my hands up in surrender, "I'm sorry, I'm just as confused as you are. I'm lost and I'm not from around here".
He starred at me up and down, his weapon still dead in my face. "How do we know your not sent from the fire nation, a spy, to destroy us?". I smiled gently at him, "No worries I'm not, I followed your signal looking for help or shelter I have no intentions of hurting anyone".
"Sokka put your weapon down she shivering, and half dressed. Why would she come to kill us looking like this, no disrespect" she motioned towards me.
I laughed lightly, "None takin". She took my arm and led me towards and igloo, "I was just getting ready for a bath it's heated, please take it while I go and get you a change of clothes".
As soon as she left I took off my clothes and got into the metallic like tub. Sighing at the warm feeling of heat on my skin, I dunked my head in the water and out getting the snow specs out of my fro. She came back in with clothes similar to hers, and set them on the matt next to me. She sat corner of the tub, then pulled a drape between us to give me privacy.
"I don't mean to pry but are you from our Sister Tribe"?.
"No I'm not, believe it or not but I'm not from around here", I got out the tub and dried off with what she left me and dressed my self and best I could. It was different then what I was used to. My nerves were still pretty scattered, being 'here' was not in the memo. But a part of me was excited to experience this, being here was enough. Being able to help Aang, well if they trust me enough to see me through it. So far getting on Katara's good side was the first step, it's Sokka that that I need to convince that I'm not dangerous.
Pulling back the drapes she gasped at me. " What did I put it on wrong?", spinning around looking for the error. She blushed a little but stared at me with awe, "Your just very beautiful, I never seen someone like you before.". I smiled at her even bigger, "Really thank you, your beautiful too". She thanked me for the compliment, "I never got your name my name is Katara".
"My name is Jasmine, but you can call me Jas for short". We headed back out into the village where everyone was waiting for me to come back, I noticed Sokka and Gran in the crowd. Katara and had me approach the group, "Entire village this is Jasmine, Jas entire village". I waved at them with a smile, "Nice to meet you all". One little girl pointed out my hair, "Mommy look her hair is so big".
I laughed a bit, "Yeah it's a go to style for me". The kids then ran towards me, laughing and jumping around me asking me all kinds of crazy questions about what I like to do for fun and eat. Gran Gran out of the corner of my eye came up to us and asked them to go play elsewhere. She looked at me, "You seem like a wise young woman, and I wouldn't mind an extra helping hand if you'd like to stay". I smiled and nodded eagerly" Oh and you can call me Gran Gran from now on". "Thank you so much I'll surely do my part".
Sokka on the other hand approached me a little close if you ask me.
"Until I know for a fact that your not working with the fire nation, I'll be escorting you around camp the entire time. Do I make myself clear?". Katara tried to butt in on her brother antics, "Sokka you can't be serious?" I just waved Katara off and smiled at Sokka, stepping a bit closer. "It's no worries I'm sure I'll enjoy the company, right Sokka". His eyes quickly darted to my lips and scurried away into a tent I'm guessing that belong to him.
Katara groaned, "I'm sorry he's just really overprotective, and plus he hates the fire nation..they took our mother from us when we were younger", she spoke touching her necklace. I pulled her in a tight hug which I'm sure took her off guard," I lost someone important to me too, but together I'm sure we'll make them proud".
She smiled at me, we heard Gran calling us over. Jogging over to her, "I need you and Sokka to finish your chores Jasmine can stay here with me in the meantime".
"Oh yeah Sokka and I have to go out hunting for fish this evening, it shouldn't take us long". I jumped in there conversation, "Sorry, but can I actually tag along. I'm really good at fishing". Gran looked over at me, "Jasmine are you sure, you haven't eaten since you gotten here I want your energy to be back up before you start chores your self?". I looked over her, loved that she was concerned for me so soon.
" I'm sure Gran Gran, plus Sokka is going to want to keep me in his sights", I stifled a laughed. Katara nodded and we agreed I'd tag along and eat when I get back to the village. It might've seemed like a average fish trip to them but I knew Aang was bound to appear.
I was going to meet the Avatar.
