In the evening, Elisa met with Sato and Sandy, and they all went up to the castle before sunset. They were going to explain the details surrounding Brooklyn's kidnapping and torture.

They were soon at the recovery room just as the sun went down and there were six gargoyles that awoke in there, Brook included.

"You're healed." Goliath greeted him with a smile. Brook remembered Goliath saying that to Angela the night after being attacked by the first Hunters they had encountered. They had almost killed her but thanks to Elisa, her life was saved.

Brooklyn stretched his limbs and even his middle area but felt some pain in his stomach still. He grunted in pain. "Depends on what you mean by healed." Brook disagreed. He put a hand on his belly.

"Hi, Brooklyn." Sato greeted.

The red one looked over at him. "Hi."

"It was so early this morning that your body didn't have enough time to realize what had happened to it perhaps why it's still painful. But I need to examine you before you can leave this room." Sato explained.

"Sure." Brook agreed.

The clan watched as the doctor examined their still sore Second. Sato saw there were no stitches left at the site of the incision, but when he applied some light pressure there, Brooklyn instantly winced and cried out.

"Yeah, there's bound to be some pain for tonight. Just take it easy tonight though you are welcome to get out of bed. Just eat some gentle foods tonight." Sato urged.

"Ok. I'll see to it that he does." Broadway stated. "I'll go and make ya some soup." He said and left the room to go get started.

"I'm not really that hungry right now." Brooklyn sat up.

"You need to get your strength back, Brooklyn." Goliath said.

"I know."

"I also have some news for you all." Sato stated and it got the gargoyles' attention. "What I took out of Brooklyn's stomach this morning was both the missing diamond and at the lab, it was found to be something that had poison in it. If you had eaten any solid food, any food particle going into the intestine would have touched it and it would have spilled some poison into your intestines, thus it wouldn't have been pleasant." Sato explained.

"In other words, more pain." Brooklyn declared.

"Yes. Afraid so."

"Good you got it out then, Doctor." Hudson decreed.

"Yep. Well, Brooklyn, you seem alright to me tonight if very tender. You're free to go to your own room now if you wish." Sato said.

"Thanks for your information." Lex stated. "What's to become of the men that did this to Brooklyn?"

"They are going away for a long time since they escaped and stole the jewel. I'm sorry I can't get them for punishment to Brooklyn because of you know, the public not being so popular of you right now." Elisa explained.

"Thanks, Elisa." Goliath said. He gave her a hug.

Brooklyn was happy to be able to leave the medic ward and go to his own room. "Do ya need company, lad?" Hudson asked.

"I'll be fine. Thanks, Hudson." Brook said gently as he went into his room and shut the door. He went over to his bed and leaned back, being careful of his still tender stomach. He had a hand over it as it hurt to put any bend in it. It was mainly just bruising inside it from last night but that should be healed by a second stone sleep tomorrow. There was still lots of night left.

Broadway soon came into the room with a tray and a bowlful of chicken noodle soup and crackers. "This you should be able to take down pretty easy." The aqua male said.

"Thanks, Broadway. It smells delicious." Brook's mouth watered. He picked up the bowl and began to put it into his mouth. Brooklyn had been starting to feel hungry when his bro had returned. He finished the whole bowl slowly so he wouldn't get sick and then ate the crackers. He also drank the liquid in the soup, hence not needing water at the moment.

"Thanks. It was great." Brook stated. Broadway was pleased and he took the tray and bowl out to the kitchen. At least so far, Brooklyn's stomach seemed to be doing well this night despite the surgery he had had last night.

…..

Later in the night, Goliath assigned patrols for the clan, not including Hudson and Brooklyn. Bronx was going along with Broadway tonight. Being young, even the gar dog needed to get out for exercise too. Angela, Goliath, and Lex were going together tonight.

Brooklyn wished he could go but he was too sore to go tonight. He hoped he wouldn't see those evil men ever again. He and Hudson went to hang out in the tv room tonight. They watched all sorts of shows. Hudson even let the red male pick his own favorite shows.

The clan returned by morning, all fit and healthy. Hudson and Brooklyn greeted them on the parapets as they turned to stone for the day.

…..

The next night, when Brooklyn awoke, as he felt his belly muscles stretch, there was now no more pain. Stone sleep was a life saver for them. It sure beat healing the long way, like so many other living creatures had to endure while healing from traumatic injuries.

Brooklyn wasn't going to let some humans get the best of him from going out and protecting this city with his clan. It was what gargoyles were supposed to do, despite the risks. As for the diamond, it was taken back to the museum after it was done being used as evidence against the men that had taken it.

The Manhattan gargoyles of New York would continue to watch over this proud city, united and strong.

The End

This story had been inspired by an old movie from the 90s. This had been fun to write. Reviews are greatly appreciated.
