Tyr,
Operation Elbrus is a go. Psions are already interrogating the first of Savathun's captured lieutenants. Hodur will send you the data once he analyzes it.
I gotta say this whole thing is a welcome change of pace after that fiasco with the Witch Queen. I never expected I'd be the one to help kill a Hive God. It's not not my style. You know me. I generally try to avoid gambling the fate of the world on my own skills.
Truth be told if I'd been offered the chance to back out and let the professionals handle things, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat. Left the fate of the world to you, Hodur, Crota's Bane, Saladin's Young Wolf, and the Hero of the Red War. You know, the ones who are used to those sort of stakes.
But these Psi-Ops? Hodur's investigation into Savathun's Throne World? These are definitely my forte.
I've started wielding Void Light again. Been a long time since I've taken up the bow. Feels different. Feels right. I'm probably in the minority with that opinion though. Online forums are full of people complaining about how it used to be better. You ask me half of them don't deserve to call themselves Hunters. Wearing the cloak is all about finding purchase on shifting ground, learning to roll with the punches. Those who can't are better off manning the walls.
No offense to those that actually man the walls. We'd all be dead a hundred times without them.
Void is not the only thing that's new. Traded in my Ascendancy for Hakke's newest prototype rocket launcher. It fires new munitions based on Stasis. Not sure how they managed that. Hodur said something about Condensation and then I stopped listening. As long as it works I'm happy, and given who made it I don't foresee any issues. Hakke, man, they make good guns.
Their auto rifles are nothing to sneeze at either, though how the Drifter got his hands on them is a matter I mean to look into. I don't mind him jacking shipments from Tex Mechanica, especially after that fiasco with the Crucible, but Hakke is a good company full of good people. They don't deserve any trouble from him and his ilk.
I traded in the Nighthawk for new helmet with an upgraded sensor pack. Great for keeping on eye on enemy positions in a firefight. No way they're gonna sneak up on me with this. It's my turn to be the one striking from the flank.
And last, but certainly not least, this Glaive we found on Mars is a real piece of art. Slices through Hive Chitin like a hot knife through butter. The projectiles aren't a laughing matter either, and the shield it can project has saved my bacon more than a few times already. Maybe I'll eventually get bored and pick up my old fusion rifle, but for until then it's slice and dice city.
Hodur says I look like an Airsoft LARPer wearing Hakke's colors. I have no idea what that is. I think he meant it as an insult, so I brought up the time he spent a day looking like a pineapple. He laughed. I laughed. The Hive trying to ambush us laughed. We murdered the Hive. It was an interesting day.
Speaking of the Hive, those Lightbearers are no joke, but Hodur and I found a trick to deal with them. Suppressor grenades, like the ones the peacekeepers use. Shuts down all their abilities and knocks them out of a Supercharged state if they have it active. Should keep them down long enough to finish them off as long as you don't mess around.
That's all I have for now. Hodur and I will keep you updated on everything we learn about the Lucent Brood and their weaknesses. If they make a play for the City you'll be ready.
Luca Ward,
Hunter of the Last City
