Della and Donald approach each other, in what seems like a touching moment... only for them to start yelling at each other, as somewhat expected.
"Where have you been?!" They each say.
"If you were home when I got back, you'd know I was stuck on the moon, which by the way, is invading us!" Della shouts.
"I know! I warned you!" Donald snaps back.
"We didn't get a warning!" Della snaps back as Dewey starts to break them up.
"Stop yelling at each other." Dewey says, before turning to Donald and attacking him. "I could've been named Turbo! You owe me 11 years of Turbo!"
Della picks up Dewey off of Donald. "Don't change the subject! Just because I missed you doesn't mean I'm not mad at you!"
"I missed you too, ya big dummy!" Donald says, after which they hug tearfully.
"Oh boy, I love a reunion!" The Melon 'says'.
"Whoa!" Della backs up. "Has the melon been a thing the whole time I've been gone or...?"
"No, that's new." Huey says, everyone concerned.
...
Huey, Dewey, and Rebecca look at Donald in bewilderment, as Della simply stares while the Melon 'explains'.
"What is going on..." Rebecca whispers, a tad scared.
"Thank goodness you found us! After Penumbra helped Donald escape those evil Moonlanders, why, he crash landed on this island." Melon 'says'.
"Where I met my best friend." Donald says in his normal voice, having the melon kiss the side of his head.
"You met Penny on the Moon? Is she okay? I miss her constantly trying to impale me." Della says.
"Uh, we've been having a real good time. Sharing sandwiches, drinking sea water smoothies to drown our sorrows..." Melon 'says'.
"You've been surviving on sea water and sand this whole time?" Webby asks.
"But now I'm saved!" Donald cheers.
The kids and Della gather and hug Donald.
"You must have been searching for him for months!" Melon 'says'.
"Yes! We totally knew you were missing and not on a cruise." Huey lies, nervously.
"Did we?" Dewey asks.
"Yes. That's why we're here." Webby also lies.
"That's what the Melon said." Della says over Webby, the two also nervous.
"I told you your family would never forget about you! Which is why you have to go back, my friend." Melon 'says'.
"Lunaris is a monster! We gotta go help Uncle Scrooge!" Donald says.
"Yeah!" Rebecca cheers.
"Now that we found you, we can all fight Lunaris together!" Louie says as all they head for the Sunchaser/Cloudslayer, but are stopped by Della.
"No way. The plan is to keep you as far away from danger as possible. Besides, Scrooge knows exactly what he's doing." Della says, waving off their concerns.
"Ugh!" Rebecca groans, and tries not to curse.
Later on, Della has fixed up the wreckage to be their new home.
"Ta-da! Welcome home!" She shows the pitched tent and lockers with the kids' names on them, Huey and Webby sharing one locker, Dewey and Rebecca another, as Louie has his own. "We can live here as long as we need. Look, kids. You have your own rooms." To which Louie's falls over, a crab crawling out,
However, the kids are paying no mind, instead trying to figure out how to escape.
"So let's see, we've got this tree, sand, and water." Huey says as he draws a tree and the water in the sand. "Whole lot of both. How can this get us home?"
Louie begins to ponder, holding a hand to his beak/chin.
Dewey raises his hand. "Oh! Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh!"
"Keeping in mind, Dewey can't surf us to safety because he does not know how to surf." Louie says.
"We don't know that until I try!" Dewey says while pointing to himself, before taking a makeshift surf board made from a piece of the plane, but is immediately pushed back to the island by the waves, on his face.
"Welcome back!" Webby greets.
"We could use the metal from the plane and some trees to make a raft." Rebecca suggests in the meantime of Dewey's antics.
Then, Della cuts in. "Who's up for beach volleyball? Melon, I'm looking at you because we're gonna need a ball." She says.
Donald shield the melon protectively. "No!"
"We don't have time for games. We need to get back to Duckburg." Huey says.
"It's too dangerous. We don't know what's waiting for us back there." Della argues.
"But the earth needs our help!" Webby counters.
"Scrooge will handle it."
"And who will help him?!" Rebecca adds in, getting panicky and desperate.
"And how are we supposed to survive?!" Louie adds.
Della starts to get desperate. "It's fine... Everything's fine... We got a bunch of sand, zero contact with the outside world, a crashed plane we could use as a house, and.. hey! Shoo!" She runs after a crab stealing a plane part. "Monster taking my stuff!" The crab clamps onto her foot. "Aah! Living here is great."
"No offense, Mom, but we might as well be living on the moon." Dewey points out.
Della is shocked by that. "What?!" She suddenly goes wild-eyed in denial, laughing hysterically. "You must be delirious from hunger! Here, have some delicious Oxy-... Chew..." She comes to her senses as she realizes. "Oh, no! No, no, no! This is the Moon all over again!" She kicks the melon out of Donald's hand and into the ocean.
"See you real soooooon!" Melon 'says'.
"Noooo!" Donald cries out.
Della then storms off into the plane, angry.
"M-mom?" Rebecca asks, panic setting in as she realizes.
...
Louie had gone into the plane to check on Della, while the others continue to try to figure out a way off the island while Donald mourns the loss of his 'friend'.
Then, Huey and Dewey hear what sounds like sobbing. They look over and see Rebecca, curled up, facing away from them. They approach her, cautiously.
"Sis? Are, are you okay?" Dewey asks.
Rebecca turns and looks at her brothers, eyes red from crying. "No, I'm not. Our mom is running from her problems, refusing to face them. That's not the Della Duck that Uncle Scrooge told me about. She, she always ran head long into danger, tried to solve problems by beating them to death, not turning tail and running!" She says between sobs.
"Hey, hey, relax. It'll be alright." Dewey assures.
"...What if we're why she left?"
"What?" The two brothers ask in shock.
"She is running from her problems now, so... What if she had second thoughts about being a mother? What if she took the Spear because she was afraid to raise us? What if... What if she didn't want us?"
"Sis, don't say stuff like that! Mom loves us! Always had!" Huey says, horrified.
"I don't doubt that but, what if she was afraid? Afraid she'd be a bad mother so she ran? I don't know! Why else would she just, abandon us?"
Unsure how to answer, they try to resolve the issue another way.
"You know, there's this one song Uncle Donald sang to us every night and, it helps us when we got stressed out or scared." Huey says as he takes a deep breath, nodding to Dewey. " Look to the stars, my darling baby boys... "
" Life is strange and vast, filled with wonders and joys... " Dewey sings.
Then, before Huey or Dewey can continue, Rebecca chimes in. " Face each new sun, with eyes clear and true. "
The three then all sing together, in harmony. " Unafraid of the unknown, because I'll face it all with you... "
"Rebecca how do you know that lullaby?!" Dewey asks, the brothers shocked.
"Uncle Scrooge would sing it, or a version of it, to me when I was younger, when I woke up from nightmares and came to him, too scared to sleep. He said mom sang it to my- er, our eggs every day until, you know..." She explains.
"He, sang to you?" Huey asks.
"I sometimes pretended to be scared just so I could be with him, just to hear it. He, really was my Uncle Donald..." Rebecca looks at her brothers, calmed down. "Guess we shared one last part of mom even if separated." She smiles as the three hug, Webby tearing up with joy until Rebecca sighs and signals her over to join in, before walking to the wreckage with Donald to see that Louie and Della have made up.
Then, as Della and Louie walk out of the wreckage, out of nowhere, a voice calls out.
"Ahoy there!"
They all look to the source, and find Fethry and Gladstone atop Mitzy the giant krill, Gladstone holding the Melon, as Mitzy pulls the Gladyear blimp.
"It that a giant krill?" Rebecca asks, bewildered.
"Long story..." Dewey says to Rebecca.
"Cousin Gladstone! Cousin Fethry!" Della says in surprise.
"Della? Donald? Huey? Dewey? Green kid? Girl kid 1? Girl kid 2? Airplane? Palm tree?" Fethry says, to which Gladstone shoves the melon into his mouth the silence him.
"Hey, fam'! Want some melon?" Gladstone asks.
...
After Gladstone gives an explanation of how they escaped the invasion, while eating the Melon to the shock and horror of Della, Donald, Huey, and Dewey, Fethry speaks up.
"You guys need a lift?" He asks.
Later, the kids and adults are riding atop Mitzy, Webby up front as the quadruplets strike the same poses as their adult counterparts, to which Dewey realizes something.
"Aw, man! Am I the Uncle Donald?!" Dewey asks.
"Hi, Uncle Scrooge!" The nine all say as one, having arrived just in time to save their uncle.
"None of this makes any sense!" Lunaris protests.
"Yeah well that's earth for ya!" Rebecca says smugly, as, soon, Lunaris' plot is foiled and the rocket is sent back toward the Moon, everyone cheering as they dismount from Mitzy.
Then, Scrooge decides to berate Donald for taking an 'extended vacation'. "About time yew came home! Ae hope you had a relaxing vacation while the rest of us were defending the planet," He then sees the others shaking their heads behind Donald, who is getting upset, and realizes, "Oh, was he not on a cruise then."
"Yeah, about that..." Rebecca cringes.
They then see the massive engine aim for earth, and getting closer. At top speed.
"Oh, that's not good." Rebecca remarks as Glomgold makes a run for it as Lunaris intends genocide.
Della then notices an unoccupied golden rocket. "Don't I owe you kids a trip to space?" She asks, giving the kids a wink.
Soon, the family are manning the rocket and flying to stop the engine.
They quickly come under fire, but Donald pulls the ship out of the way.
"All right, we have to take out that engine before it hits earth!" Scrooge orders.
"Yes, sir!" Della says, flying but not able to get close due to all the laser fire. "But I can't get near that engine while his laser turrets are on."
"Kids, knock out those lasers!" Scrooge adds.
The kids acknowledge, Huey and Louie taking one turret, Dewey and Webby the other, while Rebecca mans the convenient third gun herself, taking out any turrets the others miss.
As Della flies, even while fighting with Donald for control, the kids swiftly take out every laser as the ship narrowly evades. Soon enough, they make their way to the rear to take out the engines, but are caught between the firing arc of way too many rearward lasers and the engine exhaust.
"What are you doing?!" Louie asks.
"I can't find an angle out!" Della answers, all hope seeming lost, when...
The ORIGINAL Spear of Selene, piloted by Penumbra, crashes into the engines, taking them and the lasers out, crippling the ship into an earth orbit.
Then, Penumbra is ejected into the family's rocket's window.
"...Hiiiiii, roomie!" Penumbra greets.
"Penny! Didn't see that one coming! Anyway, this is my family! You know Donald?" Della starts to introduce.
"Let me in!" Penumbra requests as she starts to slide off.
"Oh, right." Della says, letting the Moonlander in before they head back to earth, victorious.
In the aftermath, Ian and Dickie are freed from their restraints, same as everyone else captured, rubbing their wrists.
Dickie then kisses him on the lips, the two entering a deep kiss, Ian dipping her. The boys, of course, snap photos, the girls rolling their eyes as afterwards they all soon join in for the massive group photo, Webby and Rebecca on either side of Scrooge, the family once again victorious and united.
"Well, this is wonderful! Almost like the 10 years Donald and Scrooge split up the family never happened." Ian lets slip.
"You two did what!?" Della snaps, furious at her uncle and brother, who gulp.
"Ooh, yeah, we kinda forgot to tell you that." Rebecca says, inhaling as her mother chases her uncles to likely murder them.
