more to come

It was dark. It was dark and warm. Kagome didn't know where she was but that was all she knew was it was dark and warm. Her first instinct kicked in and she began feeling her body, checking for wounds. Always make sure your well enough to fight, the rule was drilled into her mind even in her sleep.

Slowly she reached her hands out, trying to find something she can use to help her recognize where she was. Nothing, she was just completely surrounded by darkness, slowly she stepped forward, arms still out. Reaching for anything to help stable her. Nothing. She continued forward, forcing her eyes to try and see anything. Nothing. She strained her ears to try and pick up the slightest sound. Nothing. She felt like she was stumbling around in the dark for hours, the only thing solid around her was the floor she was cautiously sliding across.

She continued forward, arms moving in an arc motion to make sure she wouldn't run into anything, if anything was there. Her fingers brushed against something. Cold. Solid. She immediately reached for it, not wanting to lose the only thing she could feel in this darkened hell.

Her hands rubbed against it, a wall? She stepped closer, inspecting it even more, no, a door she thought, feeling the knob on the right side. Grabbing the small brass turner with both hands, she twisted it. It gave easily, far easier than she expected, she pulled but it didn't budge so she pushed and heard a soft creak as it opened.

Her hand reached out into the darkness, making sure the opening was big enough for her to fit through. Quietly she slipped inside, still trying to see all she could, but her eyes couldn't get passed the cloak of darkness that surrounded her. Where was she, she wondered, what the hell was going on?

A soft glow caught her attention, making her turn swiftly to the left. It looked like it was coming for under yet another door. Carefully she made her way over, placing a foot out cautiously before making a step. Reaching the light, she was tempted to bend and put her hands in it, just to see if it was really there but instead, she touched the door. Firmly she pressed an ear to it, trying to hear all could, but it was hard to hear anything above her own heartbeat.

Stay calm, she told herself, taking a moment to slow the rapid tempo. Making sure she was in control of her reaction; she found the doorknob and twisted. The door gave much like the other one to the gentle push. Kagome slowly inched the door open before simply poking her head in.

She blinked rapidly to help her eyes adjust to the soft light, it was a warm glow, almost welcoming. Kagome stepped into the room and looked around, something was itching at the back of her mind, telling her she shouldn't be here. It looked to be an ordinary bedroom, a child's bedroom at that.

A sudden block of ice dropped in her stomach, this was her and Kikyou's old bedroom. All the pink was just muted by the orangish glow of the light, it made everything look bronze. Kagome took a deep breath, trying to calm the swirling in her tummy, not wanting her nerves to get the best of her.

A shadow moved and she turned, trying to follow it. Movement was heard, making blue eyes turn again, Kagome spotted a door on the other side of the room. She frowned, if she was correct, then that would be the door to the hall, meaning she just stepped out the bathroom.

More noise caught her attention, she took a step farther into the room. It was coming from the hall, she figured. She moved closer, it sounded like someone was fighting. The door suddenly slammed opened.

" NO, STOP!"

Kagome blinked; a transparent blue version of her sister was being dragged in by her hair. Kagome looked over to the tall shadow pulling her twin towards her hello kitty sleigh bed, " What the hell?" She shook her head, watching the dark man like creature toss the small Kikyou on the bed.

" What the fuck?" she mumbled, then frowned seeing the shadow climb on top of her, " What the fuck!" she screamed this time, launched herself forward, " Get off my sister!"

She flew through the ghostly figure, hitting the floor with a loud thud. Little Kikyou screamed, kicking at the assailant on top of her, " No, please!"

Kagome jumped to her feet, " Get off of her!" trying to grab the shadow from around its neck but her hands passed right through him. Tears touched her blue eyes, she couldn't stop it, there wasn't a way to stop it.

Thick, sharp claws tore at the tweety bird shirt the little girl was wearing. " No!" Kagome screamed, " Take me instead! Please!"

The head of the shadow snapped over, its grin feral and horrifying, " Little pig, little pig, let me in."

Kagome jumped back, now getting scared, a memory trying to surface but refusing to budge from the back of her mind. She gasped, " What's going on?"

She took a step back as the shadow stood, " Little pig, little pig, let me come in."

She shook her head, fear crawling up her spine, her mind trying to tell her something, " This isn't real." she mumbled.

The ghostly shadow laughed, stepping closer, " Little pig, little pig, let me in."

Kagome shook her head, " Who are you?"

The shadow grew taller, his claws sharper, Kagome gasped at what stood before her. Kagome could just shake her head, confusion clouding her mind, " Who are you?"

He laughed, those eyes twinkling with resentment, " Little pig, little pig, let me in."

Her eyebrows frowned, even more confused, " I know that voice..."

Those plump lips frowned, " Of course you do."

" But how."

His crimson eyes narrowed, " Little pig, little pig, you are not alone. Since before your time, written in stone. A set of twins with powers untold. The first born will carry the souls."

Kagome frowned, trying to understand what she was hearing, " What?"

He just stepped closer, cutting her off, " On that night, you set me free. Let me in and I'll give you what you need."

Kagome frowned, taking a step back, " You're the voice in my head when I was a kid."

He laughed at that, " The anger you feel, I made it your friend. Little pig, little pig, let me in."

Kagome took a step back, her brain flooding of a shadow, tall and clawed, watching her, following her, quoting that same nursery rhyme. Always asking her to let her in; she turned to run, not knowing what was happening but knowing that she didn't want to be here.

Strong hands grabbed at her shoulder and slammed her against the wall, " You hid me away for long enough, a war is coming to test just how tough. Little pig, little pig, let me in, it's the only way you can win."

Kagome grabbed at the hands on her shoulder and swung out her foot. He caught it as it hit his side, pinning it there and spinning, slamming her again into the wall.

She grunted at the impact, " I can't let you out, bad things will happen."

He punched her in the gut, making her topple over in pain, " Bad things happen all the time. Little pig, little pig, it's our turn to shine."

Kagome collapsed to the floor, taking deep breaths, got damn that hurt, if anything was in her stomach, she was sure it would have come back up. Grabbing her ponytail, he lifted her off the floor, again slamming her against the wall, " You trapped me here for all those years, I've watched your life through a mirror."

He slapped her, her face slamming into the wall, " I made you who you are, I made you able to defeat all."

" You made me crazy." Kagome hissed out, grabbing at the hand that still had a strong grip on her hair.

He let her go, his knee rising, again striking her in the stomach. Kagome again fell to the floor, coughing up blood, trying to take the pain. He looked at her, disgusted at the person he was a part of. He bent next to her, yanking her head back, she screamed at the force he was using to pull her hair.

He just smiled, " It's okay little pig, don't pout, don't frown. Just let me in or..." He paused, grabbing her forehead and slammed the back of her head into the wall, " I'll burn.." he pulled her head forward and slammed it back again, " This fucking..." he did it again, " house..." and again, " To.." and again. " The ground!"

Blood oozed down her shoulders, blurry eyes trying to blink away the concussion she knew she had. Again, he just laughed, bending, he leaned over, licking the blood that dripped over her ear, " Let. Me. In." he whispered, laying his lips over hers.

A fire burned in her windpipe, quickly she tried to push him off her again, but this time he was not letting up, grabbing her face, holding her against him. She struggled, trying to gasp for air as the burning filled her lungs. Sizzling ashes poured down her throat, choking her on the heat. She couldn't breathe, her insides were on fire, her eyes flashing with flames before being fully consumed in red before everything faded to black.

Sesshomaru was walking through the doors of the RDSVU headquarters. It was all over the news, some kid got a cell phone video of Kagome colliding with a demon midair and literally falling out the sky. He had immediately called her phone, but it went straight to voicemail. He called the office here but there was no answer. He called the palace, his maid telling him she was not home. He then checked every hospital in this district and every no he received made his heart sink just a little deeper into his stomach.

Until he said fuck it and grabbed his suit jacket and left his office. He was sure her adoptive father would know where she was at. And if he couldn't find him fast enough, he was going to hunt down her brother. Stepping off the elevator Sesshomaru glanced around the office, it was empty but there was a strange energy in the air. He turned, heading towards her office to see if M was behind her desk. Something was definitely going on here, the weird electricity sparking around him made the hairs stand up on his neck.

Opening the door that led to the lobby of her office, he frowned, there was someone here, but he couldn't scent out who with the odd power coating the walls. Reaching forward he opened her office door and immediately ducked. A bolt of white lightening striking the spot where his head would have been.

He blinked seeing his miko's team trying to hold her thrashing body to the floor with Gruff on top of her, his hands glowing an emerald green, pressed firmly against her seizing chest. He stepped forward, " What are you doing? Get off of her."

Hampton looked up, seeing the demon lord about to slice all of their heads off, " Wait, we need your help to hold her down."

He shook his head, moving closer, the odd power was coming from her, " Why isn't she in a hospital?" he demanded.

Ayame held on to the kicking legs with all her might, " Please, help first, questions later." a knee hitting her in the gut, skidding her across the room.

With her legs free, the thrashing became harder, Gruff frowned, eyes still closed in concentration, " Keep her still!"

Hampton looked over, " Help me!"

Sesshomaru blinked, then nodded, bending, taking hold of one of the kicking legs as Ayame took the other. Gruff was speaking a language he has never heard, Kagome's head snapped to the side as if she was slapped. The ancient words affecting her. Unconscious lips opened in a small gasp. He kept chanting, using the spell he used once before when she was younger. Kagome's back arched on a sharp intake of breath.

Gruff felt the body beneath him heating, small sparks sizzled from her fingertips. He grabbed her sleeping face in both hands, " Fight it mini me! You fight it! NOW!"

Her fist balled in her sleep; her body shook uncontrollably for a moment more before she became dead weight. A heavy sigh was released from him as he climbed off from on top of his daughter. He shook his head as he sat on the floor for a moment, catching his breath, " She's gonna be okay."

Ayame sat back on her knees, wiping the sweat from her forehead, " That's good."

Hampton nodded, agreeing, " How long she gonna sleep this time?"

Gruff glanced to his daughter, " A day and a half, maybe two days."

Hampton helped Ayame to her feet, they knew they both needed to rest as well. Ayame leaned against him, too tired to fully stand on her own, " I need a bed."

Hampton nodded, helping her out the door, Sesshomaru watched them go, then looked to the man still staring at his sleeping miko, confused as ever, " What was that?"

Gruff blinked, then looked up, almost forgetting for a moment the demon lord was here. He shook his head, feeding him the story he told the team the first time something like this happened. " Her powers were trying to heal her, but she was holding them back. The more severe the injuries the more power needed to heal them. The purity that escapes can kill all demons up to a 10-mile radius. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, so I try to contain and heal her until she has control once more."

Sesshomaru blinked, it sounded off, it sounded like a cover up. The one thing he knew about Kagome was her ability to control her powers. And she told him she had to be in water to use her healing powers on herself. It didn't make sense that point would change if she fell unconscious or not. Besides he knew a healing spell when he heard a healing spell and regardless of the language barrier, that was not it. He stood, knowing he was going to have to look into this on his own, " I'm taking her home."

Gruff stood too, he knew the demon lord didn't believe him, the distrust was pulsing in his aura, but he wasn't going to question him. He wasn't going to explain even if he called him out on his lie so he just agreed, " Yes, she will need lots of rest, I will consult with the council once they arrive and take over the investigation until she is better."

Sesshomaru nodded, he didn't want to deal with the council right now anyways, bending, he scooped his wife up with ease and headed towards the open door. Gruff watched him go with his daughter in hand, she wasn't going to remember anything once she woke. He made it that way, since that night all those years ago, he has been putting this particular spell on her to purposely make her forget. She didn't need to remember what really happened in that house; she didn't need to remember her body is not her own.
