Chapter 34: Defector from Paradise

She wasn't the first of the four to try and get back into the wardrobe, but she was the last before they were sent back home on the train. The sturdy wood back of the wardrobe felt like a condemnation and a part of Susan's soul froze as her finger tips touched it.

It was the exact same feeling when Alsan proclaimed her and Peter too old for Narnia, and it was the same feeling again when she heard Lucy sobbing in the night after she and Edmund come back from staying with their relatives.

It isn't worth it, she decides, and it probably never was to begin with.
