A/N: this one gave me some trouble. As always I had some help from doctor Google.

I'm sorry about not updating yesterday but life came kicking and I had to take a mental health day.

If you have requests for F let me know!

E is for E. coli

'Hey Danny, is Grace having another nutrition class?' Steve asks looking at his friends salad.

Danny sighs.

'Yeah, when I picked her up this morning she gave it to me, you want to trade?'

'Your daughter is concerned for your health and made you a special home made lunch and you just want to trade it like it means nothing to you?'

Danny throws a glare at Steve.

He opens the container with his salad and starts eating.

'Heard anything from you mother since last week?'

'No, she's most likely still pissed about last week, just as well because I'm still pissed.'

'She's your mother babe, you can't stay angry forever.'

'Not forever, but a good while longer should be no problem. Why are you not more pissed?'

Danny shrugs wile eating his lunch.

'Like I said last week, I know I lack all those things she told me about,' He raises his hands when Steve opens his mouth to interrupt him.

'That's how she thinks Steve, she's CIA it's all about who or what can be an asset, in her eyes I am no asset and she is entitled to her opinion.'

'But you know she's wrong right?'

'Of course babe, I know fully well that I bring my own skills and knowledge to the table. Though I have to admit that I'm happy we didn't end up taking her case.'

Steve and Danny finish their lunch and get back to work.

Ever since he got home from work Danny had been feeling like crap.

If he was completely honest it had started already some time after lunch.

He had hoped that after laying down for a little while he would start feeling better but instead he was feeling worse.

He had some bad stomach cramps and was feeling sick to his stomach.

His mouth was dry and Danny went to a sitting position on his couch.

As he started to sit his nausea become way worse and he ran for the bathroom only making it just in time to empty his stomach in the toilet.

He thought for a little while if he should move toward the couch or even his bed but he didn't trust his stomach yet.

A strong cramp shot through his body again and Danny moaned.

Crap, is this appendicitis?

I got to try and contact Steve. He thinks as his stomach keeps cramping.

He tries to stand but as soon as he moves he immediately starts retching again.

A couple hours later his stomach is completely empty but the retching never stopped.

As soon as he moved he got sick, after he got sick the cramped would start again and almost take his breath away.

Ultimately Danny closes his eyes in exhaustion, resigned to his fate next to the toilet.

Crap, I'll have to wait until someone comes looking for me.

I'm not due for work until tomorrow, Grace is with her mother and I told Steve I was tired and was taking a rain check on that stake we were supposed to cook.

Exhausted his mind started drifting and he fell into a light, uncomfortable slumber.

'Morning boss,' Kono says when she sees Steve.

'Morning, Kono, where are Chin and Danny?'

'Chin went to see Max and I haven't seen Danny yet, he's unusually late.'

'I think he wasn't feeling well yesterday,' she admits.

'He took a rain check on the stake, said he was tired, he could have overslept,' Steve admits but he had a bad feeling.

Yesterday when they had gone home, Danny was looking paler than usually.

'I'll go check on him, I'll call you when I find him.'

He knocks on Danny's door and waits for an answer.

The silver Camaro was parked on the driveway so he knew Danny was home.

'Danny it's Steve, can I come in?' He asks as he opens the door.

'Danny?' He calls out again.

'Ovr here,' he hears a voice come from the bathroom.

Steve makes for the room and looks shocked at his best friend.

Danny was looking horrible, his skin is pale with a grayish tint, his eyes red from a lack of sleep.

'Shit buddy, you okay?'

'Sick,' is all he says.

'Wait here,' Steve says and turns to go to the kitchen.

'Funny,' he can hear Danny say.

Steve returns to Danny with a glass of water and offers it.

'How are you feeling?'

'Stomach hurts, feeling sick, wanted to call but couldn't.'

Where in your stomach is the pain,' Steve asks as he reaches out to Danny's forehead to check for a fever.

'Dunno, just know it's there… Tired…'

'I know buddy, I doubt you've got appendicitis you'd have a fever and the pain would be noticeable on the right side of your stomach.'

'Food poisoning?'

'Could be, didn't you have a salad yesterday?'

'Yeah, why?' Danny asks as he carefully takes a little sip of the water.

The taste in his mouth was horrible and his throat is dry.

'No fever, stomach cramps, sick, a nice and healthy salad yesterday…'

'Spit it out Steven, I'm not in the mood!' Danny says angrily but comes to regret is right away.

He threw up the little bit of water he had managed to drink and his stomach cramped.

'Ugh…'

'Easy buddy,' Steve says and soothingly starts rubbing his friends back.

'I think you got E. Coli buddy, you'll be feeling like shit for a while.'

'Awesome, next time Grace comes with a salad I'm throwing it into the ocean…'

'Amazing idea, for now let's try and get you in bed.'

'Normally I'd say something about buying me dinner first but I'm afraid I's throw up again,' Danny says but allows Steve to help him up.

His stomach ran empty hours ago and also the stomach cramps seem to have calmed down.

Thank god.

Steve helped Danny into some clean clothes and into his bed after which he went to fetch a bucket.

'Listen buddy, I'm gonna have to go back to work, here's your phone, call me if you need something okay?'

'Thanks Steve, sorry about this', Danny says tiredly.

'Don't mention it, I'm afraid you'll be feeling sick for a little while, it mostly takes five till seven days. If you keep feeling sick and keep any water in let me know I'll have to take you to the emergency room.'

Danny nods.

'And don't freak if you see blood in your stool.'

'I'll be fine Steve, gonna sleep, talk later', Danny closes his eyes and almost immediately falls asleep.'

Through the day Danny kept drinking water and lucky enough more often than not he managed to hold in the water than not.

At lunch Kono visited him with a light broth that he drank slowly.

It had been close but he didn't get sick, the stomach cramps even seemed to lessen somewhat.

However Steve had been right about blood in his stool.

Thankfully Steve had warned him or he would have freaked out.

Seven days later Danny was finally feeling better and went to pick Grace up for school.

'Hey monkey, good morning.'

'Morning Danno, are you feeling better?'

Danny had called with Grace when he was sick but hadn't told her what exactly was wrong.

He didn't think it necessary to make her feel guilty and knowing his daughter as well as he does, he knows she would feel guilty.

'Much better monkey, thank you!'

'I told you, you should eat more salads! So I made you another one!'

Danny blinks and his first instinct was to throw it out the window but looking at Grace's exited face he changed his mind.

'That's very…. Thoughtful…of you Monkey,' he says instead.

He would just have to get rid of it later!

As he walks into the office the team is just heading out.

'Hey Danno, just in time, we got a dead woman at sand island.'

'Mind making a stop on the way?' Danny asks turning around.

'Depends, where?'

'Gotta throw something in the ocean,' Dany says as he holds the container with the salad in it in the air.

As they leave the palace people can hear Steve, Kono and Chin laughing.
