The Dark Side of the Moon

Chapter Eight

A smile spread across Mr. X's lips as he and Catherine looked over the video feed. He read through Catherine's notes as they repeatedly watch the video of the last fight. After a few moments, he looked over at Catherine with a huge smile on his lips.

"Very good. I am impressed," Mr. X said.

Catherine smiled. They both looked over at the lab when Violet appeared. Mr. X stood up and walked out of the office, with Catherine right behind him.

Mr. X walked around Violet, her eyes flickering as she kept eye contact.

"Marvelous. You are an amazing creation." Mr. X said. With you under my control…"

"I will not obey you," Violet said. "You are not my master."

Mr. X scoffed. "You were created by the chaos energy I supplied."

"She is my master. She created me, not you." Violet said standing beside Catherine.

Mr. X's eyes narrowed as Violet followed suit. The moment his eyes flickered, so did hers.

"What is your name, child?" Mr. X asked.

"Her name is Erica," Catherine said, standing in front of her. "She was created a few hours ago. I haven't had a chance to teach her. Please forgive her rudeness."

Mr. X's eyes no longer flickered as they went back to normal while Erica's eyes remained narrowed.

"I see," Mr. X said, looking at Erica. "I shall return and when I do, I will not be as nice."

"I understand," Erica said, her eyes still looking at him.

Mr. X nodded as he walked away. He stopped at the doorway with his back to the both of them.

"When I return, I expect the chaos usage to be a 100%," Mr. X said, walking away.

Catherine nodded. Taking a deep breath, she glared at Erica, whose head flinched back slightly.

"What did I do wrong, master?" she asked.

"Mr. X supplied the chaos energy that created you. Please show him respect."

Erica sighed, then nodded as she kicked at the floor. "Yes, Master."

Moments later, Erica smiled as she jumped in front of Catherine, causing her to jump a little.

"Thank you," Erica said excitedly.

"For what?" Catherine asked.

"Naming me, I like my name," Erica said, followed by a smile.

Catherine smiled as she scratched the back of her head.

"Uh, you're welcome,"

Erica smiled. Catherine smiled again as she rubbed her chest. What was this? She wondered. How could Erica's smile make her feel so warm inside?

"Is there something wrong, master?" Erica asked.

"No, come on let's clean up the lab."

Nodding, Erica started picking up debris. As Catherine looked at the Chaos energy lever. 100%, she could look into in it after cleaning up the lab, Catherine thought.

"She's not ready," Erica said.

Catherine looked at Erica when a thought entered her mind.

"So, the red light on the meter is an indicator to proceed?" Catherine asked.

Erica nodded. "When she's ready, I will let you know."

Catherine nodded. The two continued cleaning up the lab. Beside she had a dozen of tests to do on Erica, anyway. She didn't know why, but she found it nice to have someone to talk to.

Erica stopped cleaning when her eyes flickered. Catherine stopped and looked at her.

"What's wrong?"

"Are your monitors still running?" Erica asked.

"Of course, why?"

"Because I left a surprise that I know you will like."

Back at the Camp Half Blood infirmary, Nurse nymphs were running back and forth between Annabeth, Grover and Percy. Dionysus, Chiron and Celeste could only watch as the nymphs worked their magic to save them.

"They did well, but it wasn't enough," Celeste said, fanning herself.

"Yeah, this is what I was worried about," Dionysus said.

"But they wouldn't want it any other way," Celeste said, still fanning herself.

"Are you okay?" Dionysus asked with a hint of worry.

"Yeah, I just need to get some air," Celeste said, walking away.

Dionysus nodded, as he stood beside Chiron.

Chiron looked at Percy, Annabeth and Grover as their breathing grew worst with each moment. He wanted more than anything to give them ambrosia, but they needed to be stable for it to take effect.

Sighing, Chiron looked down at the floor. He never thought this would happen. He thought he was careful. But even he couldn't predict everything that would happen in battle.

He let his emotions get the best of him. He was so worried about finding Selene that he forgot his job in protecting them. Another sigh escaped Chiron's lips as Dionysus pat Chiron on the back.

"Don't go beating yourself up, they knew the risk," Dionysus said.

"Yeah, but I still can't help it," Chiron said.

"I understand. Come on, we need to figure out what our next move should be," Dionysus said.

Nodding, Chiron followed Dionysus out of the infirmary, but not before looking back at them once more.

"Please get better."

The moment Chiron and Dionysus walked out of the infirmary, both men sighed. Dionysus looked around, only to find Celeste nowhere in sight.

"Celeste said she needed some air. I wonder where she went?" Dionysus said, still looking around.

Hazel walked up to both Dionysus and Chiron, bowing slightly.

"Catherine's last creation wiped us out," Dionysus said to her.

"She seemed to absorb the power from the fallen creatures….I am afraid to say, does that mean she is unstoppable?" Chiron asked.

"No, everything is stoppable. It just might take a little longer to get there." Hazel said. "Come with me. There is something you need to see," Hazel said, walking away.

Chiron and Dionysus shrugged and followed her.

Meanwhile, sitting by the lake, Celeste continued fanning herself as she splashed water over her arms, neck, and face. But no matter how much water she used, she only felt hotter. Followed with a massive headache and a rapid heartbeat, she knew something was wrong.

Then she felt a shift in her train of thought. She was thinking about what they should do next, but then she thought about wanting to hurt all the demigods in the camp. Shaking her head, Celeste hoped it would go away only for it to change to Violet and how she needed to get even with her.

A smile spread across Celeste's lips as she rose to her feet. Celeste glanced back at the two guards walking toward her. They bowed at Celeste.

"What do you want?" Celeste snapped.

"We were told to look for you," one guard said.

"Chiron and Dionysus are looking for you," the other guard said.

Celeste turned around, looking at both guards with a smile across her lips.

"While you might not be her, I guess it doesn't hurt to have a little practice,"

Both guards' eyes widen as Celeste ran toward them.

Back in the forest, Chiron, Dionysus and Hazel walked to where they were found unconscious.

"I grew curious after you all were found here," Hazel said. "That's when I found something glowing in the grass."

Hazel, Chiron, and Dionysus looked around the area when Chiron noticed something peeking out from behind a large rock. The moment it made eye contact with him, it hid behind the rock again.

Curious, Chiron moved closer to the rock. His ears twitched at the sound of whimpering.

"I won't hurt you. Please come out," Chiron said soothingly.

Moments later, out walked a glowing crystal white kitten. Chiron looked down at the kitten's crystal blue eyes, they looked so familiar to him. He watched as the kitten swayed its tail back and forth.

The white kitten stretched and yawned before walking over, brushing itself against Chiron's legs.

"Meow," the kitten said as it looked up at Chiron.

"I found you."

A familiar voice bellowed with in Chiron's mind. Looking down at the kitten, he smiled. Picking up the kitten, he held her close to his heart. He hoped he wasn't hearing things. He prayed the voice he heard in his mind was true.

"And I have found you."

The kitten purred as she snuggled close and drifted off to sleep.

Dionysus and Hazel walked over to Chiron. The two looked at the white kitten sleeping in Chiron's arms. A smile crept across their faces. They couldn't explain it but, in that moment, they felt a since of calm.

"So cute, yet quite intriguing," Hazel said, gently touching the top of the kitten's head.

"Uh yeah, but that glow… it's not your normal kitten," Dionysus said, staring at the kitten. "Its strange. I feel like I have no worries in the world."

"Like wise," Hazel said. We should discuss this back at Big House."

The three nodded and headed back towards camp.

Once they returned to camp, two guards bowed to them and looked at Dionysus.

"What is it?" Dionysus asked.

"We sent two guards to find Celeste and they haven't returned," one guard said.

Dionysus nodded and sighed as he looked back at Chiron and Hazel.

"I am going to find out what's going on. I will join you later," Dionysus said, following the two guards.

Nodding, Chiron went to the infirmary with Hazel right behind him. He wanted to check on Percy, Annabeth, and Grover before heading back to Big House.

The kitten opened her eyes and hopped on Chiron's shoulder as they entered the infirmary. Chiron and Hazel walked over to the cots where Percy, Annabeth, and Grover were. The medical nymphs nodded to the two of them before bowing slightly.

"We finally have them stable but we are unsure for how long," the nurse nymph said.

"Can you use the ambrosia yet?" Chiron asked

"I was about to prepare it," the nurse nymph said.

Chiron nodded. He was glad to hear that, but even with the ambrosia, he knew it would be awhile before they would be back on their feet again.

The kitten meowed loudly, nudging Chiron. Curious, Chiron moved closer to the three cots. Meowing, the kitten hopped off his shoulder and on to Annabeth's chest.

Chiron and Hazel watched as the kitten's paws glowed as she walked all over Annabeth's chest. Meowing, she hopped on to Percy and Grover, doing the same thing to them. The kitten looked back at Chiron, who looked back at her.

"This should be enough."

The kitten meowed and hopped back on Chiron's shoulder. Before he reacted, Chiron's ears twitched at the sound of three familiar voices. His eyes widen as Annabeth, Grover, and Percy opened their eyes.

"Ow… that hurt," Annabeth said.

"Big time. My whole body hurts," Grover said.

"Man… my whole body and muscles hurt." Percy said.

Chiron took a shuttered breath as he wiped away a few tears. Hazel's face held a huge smile across her lips.

"I am so glad to hear your voices again, but please don't get up. You all still need to rest." Chiron said.

"No problem," Grover said.

"Yeah, I am not going anywhere," Annabeth said.

"Okay, but the fight…" Percy said, trailing off.

"We lost but, I think we might have gotten a second chance." Chiron said, looking back at the kitten, who purred and glowed.

Before the three of them could say another word, they drifted off to sleep.

Hazel looked at Chiron, who nodded as they left the infirmary. Within a few minutes, they were standing in front of Big House.

"The kitty healed them," Hazel said, scratching her chin as she continued looking at the kitten who hid behind Chiron.

"Not completely. She only got them out of harm's way." Chiron said. "Now, there will be no experimenting here,"

"Sorry, I am curious. Hazel said. "This isn't a normal kitten, but what or who is she?"

Hazel was about to say thing something else when the kitten pace around on Chiron's shoulder moving back and forth glowing. Chiron went to grab her, when the kitten hopped off his shoulder on to the ground. Looking back at him, she meowed.

"Selene," Left Chiron's lips before he could stop himself.

The kitten looked at Chiron, its lips curved into a smile with a twinkle in her eyes. Turning around, the kitten took off running, with Chiron and Hazel right behind her.

Walking by the lake, Dionysus found Celeste. Her back was turned to him as she stared out at the lake.

"I was looking for you," Dionysus said.

Celeste remained silent as she stood up. Stretching her arms, Dionysus smiled, but it quickly disappeared the moment he spotted two guards on the ground unconscious by the rocks.

"Cel?" Dionysus said, moving closer to her cautiously.

Hissing interrupted the silence as the kitten stood beside Dionysus. Chiron and Hazel joined them moments later.

Dionysus' eyes remained on Celeste. The moment she turned around, her eyes had a dark purple tint within them. He noticed the veins on her neck and arms were also purple.

Dionysus' eyes narrowed as a smile spread across Celeste's lips.

"Oh come now, Dio, why the stern face? I have more power than I could ever dream of," Celeste said.

"This is not you," Dionysus said.

"This is the new me! I tested my power on those guards and I did pretty well."

"Cel, please," Dionysus pleaded.

"Now move aside, for I have a violet hair woman I need to find," Celeste said.

"You're not going anywhere," Dionysus said.

Celeste smirked. "Very well. I guess I will have to show you how powerful I have become."

Chiron was about to pull out his sword when Dionysus shook his head.

"No, this is my fight," Dionysus croaked out.

Hazel could only look on in silence, but she found herself looking down at the kitten.

"Please help us free Celeste," she pleaded.

The kitten looked back at Hazel. Her crystal blue eyes sparkled as she nodded. Jumping on Dionysus shoulder, a small smile tugged across Hazel's lips. Chiron was about to reach out for the kitten when Hazel pulled him back.

"It's okay, they got this." Hazel said.

"You know something, don't you?" Chiron asked.

"Yes, and if the kitten is who we both think she is, then we have nothing to worry about."
