The Dark Side of the Moon
Chapter Twelve
Rumbling roared across the sky as lightning flashed often. It would strike the earth but never set foot in Camp Half Blood until now.
Everyone was running around, from the guards, teenagers, children, teachers, nurses, along with Celeste and Dionysus. They helped smother the constant fires popping up from the bolts of lightning.
Dionysus stumbled back as a lightning bolt almost struck him. He ran over to Big House dodging lightning bolts along the way. Opening the door, he looked up to see Jeremiah on the couch Typing away on his laptop while Grover looking over his shoulder.
"The weather is going crazy all over the world," Jeremiah said.
Dionysus looked at the screen, it showed massive blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes even the random lighting events they were getting here. But it was the next video the shook him to his core for it was a dark shadow covering up the sun.
Dionysus heart and mind were beating a mile a minute. The house shook from the rumbles of thunder. They were lucky lightning hadn't hit this place yet.
"Where is Hazel?" Dionysus asked.
"She's in Chiron's office," Grover said.
Dionysus ran back to Chiron's office. The moment he went inside he saw Hazel writing like crazy on the whiteboards. She pulled two more whiteboards together and kept writing.
Dionysus looked over what she had written. From all the major disasters all over the world to the lightning attacking the camp she was writing at an alarming speed. The moment she got to the third board there was light tapping coming from the windows. After a few moments it got louder.
They both turned noticing the rain transformed into hail before their very eyes. Hazel went back to writing while Dionysus kept his eyes on the windows. Soon the wind picked up as it wailed through the cracks of the windows. Dionysus pulled Hazel out of the room as hail the size of baseballs smashed through the windows.
Dionysus looked down at Hazel who was watching the destruction before her eyes unfold.
"The sun has gone dark and the world is dipping further into chaos. Yet there is only one thing missing," Hazel said.
"What's that?" Dionysus said.
Before Hazel had a chance to answer Grover shouted.
"You guys need to see this!"
Dionysus and Hazel ran to the living room. Grover pointed out the window. They all watched as Celeste and the guards were fighting countless demon fiends that were bubbling up from the ground. Every time one or more fell more popped up in an unrelenting cycle.
"The rise of the chaos creatures will bathe the earth," Hazel said.
Dionysus' sword materialized in his hand.
"Grover you're with me," Dionysus said, looking to Hazel and Jeremiah. "Get a hold of Chiron and the others, tell them what's going on."
Nodding Jeremiah typed away on his keyboard and Hazel send out text messages.
Dodging hail, pushing forward against the wailing wind, hopping out of the way of fallen trees and lighting bolts. Percy, Annabeth and Chiron with Kitten Selene continued on.
Annabeth pulled out her cellphone that was beeping like crazy. She glanced over the messages from Hazel before showing it to Percy and Chiron. They watched a video of Celeste, Dionysus and Grover fighting demon fiends. They watched as a dark purple goo bubbled up creating more and more of them.
"Hazel said this weather is happening all over the world," Annabeth said,
"The fiends are as well." Percy added.
"We need to move on," Chiron said, pushing through more wind.
Chiron looked at Kitten Selene who looked right back at him, her eyes filled with sadness.
"Chiron,"
"I know, but I won't give up."
The kitten meowed, filled with renewed courage. Percy and Annabeth followed behind them. Taking a hold of Percy's hand, Annabeth squeezed it lightly.
"I am scared Percy," Annabeth admitted.
"As am I, but I know we can do this, we just need a little more help."
Meanwhile, walking through the rough weather Catherine and Erica were getting closer to the lab.
Erica winced at the uneasiness she was feeling. It was as if her insides were being twisted. She leaned on a tree to catch her breath. Catherine turned around and helped Erica to keep going.
"Are you okay?" Catherine asked.
"No, but this feeling in my gut is so intense," Erica said wincing.
A thought came to Catherine's mind. "You can sense the chaos energy and with this worsening weather it could only mean…"
"Yes, she has been awakened, but something is wrong,"
"Mr. X," Catherine said, angrily
"He awakened her too early, she's unstable,"
"Do you think we can stop her?" Catherine asked.
Erica took a deep breath. "I don't know,"
Soon the two of them heard footsteps close by. They looked forward and there stood Percy, Annabeth and Chiron with a kitten on his shoulder.
Percy's eyes narrowed as they remained fixed on the two of them. Annabeth placed her hand on her daggers while Chiron glared at the two of them. The kitten meowed loudly as it nuzzled roughly against Chiron's neck causing him to calm his gaze.
Catherine put her hands up and Erica did the same.
"We mean you no harm," Catherine said. With her hands still up. "I know what I did was wrong let me make it right."
"So, you are Catherine," Chiron said.
"Yes, you all briefly met Erica." Catherine said.
"Oh, how could I ever forget, looks like you got a name now, forgive me if I don't care," Annabeth said.
"That's enough," Chiron said.
Soon a whooshing sound erupted behind them from a dark green and brown building. They looked up a noticed a large dark tornado swirling from the top of the building.
"Looks like were in the same boat, care to help us save the world?" Chiron asked.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," Catherine said.
The ground shook as cracks formed. A dark purple liquid oozed out from the cracks. Seconds later the liquid formed into dozens upon dozens of demon fiends that blocked their path leading to the building.
Pulling out their daggers and swords, Catherine clinked her gauntlets and braces together on her as they glowed.
"So, the prophecy has come true," Chiron said.
"Yes, but she is unstable," Erica added.
"Doesn't make this job any easier," Percy said.
"It never does," Annabeth replied.
Inside the lab, Dark Selene looked toward the entrance of the lab as the chaos energy around her increased.
"What is it?" Mr. X asked.
"Company," Dark Selene said.
Mr. X glanced at the monitors in Catherine's office. It showed the video feed from outside of the building. His eyes narrowed as he saw Catherine, Erica, Chiron, Annabeth and Percy fighting their way through waves of demon fiends to get to the building.
"Come, let's go and say hello," Mr. X said, followed with a smile.
Dark Selene nodded and walked toward the lab door.
"Such obedience, I like it," Mr. X murmured.
Dark Selene stopped at the lab door. Turning around she gave Mr. X another cold stare that shook him to the bone. Mr. X didn't understand why she made him feel this way. Shaking it off he followed her out of the lab. For it was time to deal with all of his enemies once and for all.
