Homura Akemi opened her eyes to the ceiling of the hospital room. "Another failure..." she thought as she rubbed her eyes, fixing them, as well as the rest of her body, with her magic. Getting out of the bed, she quickly made her way to the door.

"So you're the source of the loop?" a voice said behind her. Homura quickly turned and pulled out a pistol, aiming it at the newcomer. She was a young girl, a couple years older than herself but around her height. She had bright short red hair falling just past her ears with a silver streak going through it, deep blue eyes, and a shallow scar on her right cheek.

"How did I not see her!?" Homura steadied the gun and readied a time stop.

"Well that's just rude," she said as she pushed off the wall near the foot of the bed. She wore a black leather jacket with a cloth hood over a dark purple shirt, with a pair of dark jeans that had a black belt looped through the waist with a spade tail at its end and a rose gold buckle, and she wore a pair of black boots. "Though I guess I did spook you." She pulled her hand out of her pocket and placed it on her chest. With a slight bow, she said, "I do apologize for that."

"What do you want?" Homura demanded; she didn't like it that this girl took a gun aimed at her head so casually.

"Simple" –she put her hands up and over her head– "I want to see why there's a time loop and stop it from continuing. I got some business to take care of and this loop is getting annoying."

"Are you a Magical Girl?"

"No, I'm a hunter of sorts; is that what you call yourself?"

"Did Kyubey send you?"

"Who?" She cocked her head to the side.

"I don't know why you're here, but you better back off, the less people involved the better." She needed to get away from his girl fast; if she had to kill her, so be it.

"I highly advise against that, we can help each other easily." With a stern look, she took a step forward.

"I warned you." Homura stopped time and fired three shots, two to the chest, one to the head, and bolted for the door. If she stayed she would have seen the girl's head following her out the door.

She let out a sigh. "Looks like we're doing this the hard way." She walked up to the bullets and grabbed them out of the air.

Homura ended the time stop just as she left the hospital. Walking out the doors, she made her way to her home. "Nice trick." Homura, on instinct, stopped time again and got into her magical girl outfit. "Oh you have a cute little outfit too!"

"H-How!?" She took a step back as the girl simply waved her fingers at her while her time stop was still up. "Y-You should be as still as a statue, let alone dead!"

"Oh." She put her fist out and opened it, letting the bullets she fired fall to the ground before the time stop froze them in place. "You mean these?"

"Now I just want to-" She wasn't able to finish her sentence before a bullet missed her head by mere inches. She saw Homura running down the street before she stopped time again. "Ugh... Why do I always get the stubborn ones...?"

Homura eventually ran to an empty construction yard. She hid behind a pillar and looked to see if the girl followed her.

"What're you looking at?" Yep she did, she was behind her again.

"How can she find me so quickly...?" She turned to face the redhead, carefully readying for a fight.

"I'm surprised I can keep sneaking up on you; you can't feel my presence?"

No she couldn't. It was obvious this girl had magical abilities if she was immune to her time stop, but how come she can't sense her?

The woman turned her head a bit, as if she was talking to someone on her shoulder, before she nodded. "Yes that could be it..." She took a deep breath and slowly let it out.

A shiver violently went up and down Homura's spine as a red and purple aura developed around the girl's body. "W-What are you!?" The energy she felt wasn't like any Magical Girl she encountered before; it was almost like a Witch's but this girl was clearly human. "It's like I'm in the presence of something from Hell itself...!"

"Something you obviously haven't encountered before." She let off the energy and went back to normal. Homura collapsed to her knees, trying to regain control of herself. "I'm not here to hurt you." She knelt in front of her. "I need your help, and in return I'll help you. You're doing the loop to prevent something, the what and why I don't really need to know." She stood up and smiled at her. "It's obvious that you need help, and I'm happy to oblige." She held out a hand to help Homura up. "So what do you say?"

She stared at the hand for a long moment. "I've done this on my own and failed to save Madoka every time..." She slowly reached for the hand. "This might be my only chance...!" She grasped it and was lifted up with ease.

"Now I believe proper introductions are in order." She shook hands. "I'm Roszen Goldwoth."

"Homura Akemi."

Roszen gave her a big smile. "Good!" She put her hands on her hips. "So what are we hunting?"

Homura then gave her the rundown of what a Witch was, a creature that prayed upon people, and spread their influence with each person they killed, and why Magical Girls, such as herself, hunted them. "So... not too much different than what I normally hunt..." Roszen muttered.

"And what would that be?" She looked at the redhead with a criticising glare.

She looked a little shocked, probably not realizing she spoke aloud. "Ah well... What's the point of hiding it?" She leaned back a bit. "I hunt demons. From what you told me they're similar to your Witches, but where the Witches just want to destroy anything and everything, demons just want to rule. Over themselves and humans." She let out a quick sigh. "Doesn't help that human blood is not only a food source for them but can empower them very easily."

"How come this is the first I'm hearing about them?"

"Not your job, not your problem." She shrugged. "How much do you know about the Dark Knight Sparda?"

"A little, just know he saved humanity from something, allegedly."

"Well here's the quick and easy version: he's the reason why we don't have demons crawling all over the place."

"Interesting..."

Roszen shrugged again. "It's ancient history now." She turned to the exit of the construction yard. "Let's get out of here. And talk about this more later."

"Wait." Homura stopped Roszen. "I want to see what you can do first. You can stop time, like me, but I know personally you'll need more than that to defeat a Witch."

Roszen looked back and smiled at her. "I don't mind putting on a show. Know any Witches nearby!"

"Yes." She took the lead to where they needed to go. "One is about to show up near here. If we hurry we'll beat some of the other Magical Girls there."

The two girls stood on top of a tall apartment building near the edge. Roszen pinched her nose as she waved a hand through the air. "What's wrong?" Homura asked.

"This place reeks of corrupted magic; if it wasn't for the lack of sulfur, I'd think this was a demon's nest."

"That must be annoying at times."

"Yeah, can never get used to it."

"Anyway." Homura pulled out her soul gem; it was pulsing fairly rapidly and brightly. "We're here, I'll open the labyrinth now." She put her hand in the air and tore away an opening like it was made of paper.

What Roszen did next was quite surprising. Thousands of clothes lines traveled up into the air with school uniforms clipped on, flowing in the wind. The Witch of this labyrinth crawled on the lines as graceful as a spider danced upon its web.

The Witch was huge, almost as big as a house. She was dressed like a schoolgirl, but with no visible head and had six pairs of arms, two replacing her feet and four normal looking arms.

"Didn't expect it to be that big." Roszen scanned the Witch for any weak points.

"This is Patricia; she's a fairly weak witch. I'll only intervene if you can't handle this."

Roszen scoffed at that. "Just sit back and enjoy the show, kid." She slammed her fist into her palm; red and purple energy flowed over her body as she summoned rose gold armor over her jacket. Her right arm was covered completely with a rose shaped shoulder Pauldron; her left arm only had the gauntlet. Sabatons covered the boots while greaves with knee guards protected her shins and knees. All over the armor were engravings of vines and blooming lilacs or roses that flashed with the energy she summoned. A long sword appeared on her back in a black scabbard, with a V-shaped rose gold hand guard with either a rose or a lilac on either end of the cross guard. The handle was black and the pommel rose gold.

"Alright now." Roszen pulled out a pair of long Kukris knives from her waist, one a deep red and the other a rich purple. Twirling them, light shined off of them. "Time for our dance to start!"

Homura didn't even register Roszen moving when she suddenly saw her halfway up the clothes line. "She didn't stop time; I would have felt it..." The Witch let out a scream as it saw Roszen blitzing up the line. Chairs and desks soon began to rain down from the skirt of the Witch. Roszen dodged a chair and jumped on a desk, then bolted to a desk or chair as a better way up. "She's just simply that fast...!"

Roszen landed on a desk. "Not much further..." But before she could make another jump, a pair of legs came from her flank. She quickly parried away an ice skate and jumped onto a line. "You must be one of her familiars." The pair of legs was only the bottom portion of a school girl uniform, with ice skates under the shoes. "Hmm... Definitely not the ugliest thing I've seen, but I'm going to have to put you down, so forgive me if I'm a bit too fast for you!" She suddenly disappeared from view and reappeared behind the familiar. She plunged her knives into the minion's hips and then on top where the spine should be. She kicked her off the line, severing a thin thread, making the thing go limp before it could hit the bottom.

"She found out its weakness that quickly...?" Homura muttered aloud. Roszen rushed up the line again, dodging school furniture and severing more of the threads connecting Patricia's familiar to her. "She's definitely a seasoned fighter." Roszen was now close enough for the Witch to swat at her. "But Witches are a different breed than their familiars..." The Witch began to swing its arm at Roszen. "What will you do...?"

As the giant arm came swinging by, Roszen hoped on it, Patricia not realizing what happened when she hitched a ride. "Time for my grand finale!" She ran down the arm before turning into a buzz saw of blades, cutting down the arm in a spiral, up the skirt, over the stomach, and finishing off on the opposite arm. She landed just in front of Homura, shocking the girl a bit. Homura saw the damage she did. The cuts twisted and turned like vines on a tree. "Vines..." She looked to Roszen and saw the engravings glowing.

Roszen stood up. "Bloom like-" and slowly sheathed her knives, "-an endless spring." As soon as her knives clicked into place, Patricia essentially exploded into rose and lilac petals. A Grief Seed fell between their feet as the labyrinth collapsed.

Roszen saw the seed and picked it up. "So this is what you MGs are after?"

"Yes, this is how we purify our soul gems." She brought out her gem that showed a nice bright purple color. "The darker it gets the closer we are to death."

"Mind if I hold on to this?" She jiggled the seed a bit.

"Why?" Homura sharpened her gaze. "As far as I know you have no need for it."

"I want to study it, see what makes it tick." She looked at the seed in her hand. "Might find out something that could help you, I don't know." She looked back up to her. "So what do you say?"

Homura stared between the redhead and the seed. "There's a good chance she'll find out what Witches actually were..." She stared into her blue eyes, searching for any deception. "But could she find a way to reverse it...?"

"Fine. Go ahead." She turned away a bit.

Roszen bowed to her. "Thank you for your trust." She then rubbed the back of her head. "So um... Know any places to stay for cheap?"

"You can stay at my place." Homura began to walk away.

"Oh! Thanks!" Roszen quickly caught up with her.
