Despite Severus's intense worry over the situation, Hugo and Ixora managed to avoid mating with one another for what wizarding society deemed an appropriate length of time.
Harriet's womb stayed empty, but five years after their eldest daughter graduated Hogwarts, Severus found himself seated on a sofa next to Ron and Hermione while the three waited anxiously for news.
"I think they've done a brilliant job with the house." Ron said awkwardly as he looked around and pretended to admire the decorations in the parlor.
Hermione nodded silently.
Severus narrowed his eyes at his former student as he gave him a terses nod in response.
"I'm glad Hugo's wand-making business has taken off." Ron shrugged as he cleared his throat.
Hermione sighed nervously.
Ron's idle chatter irritated Severus.
Rather than forcibly interact with his former students, Severus much preferred to simmer in his own fretful brooding about his daughter and soon-to-be grandchild's well-being.

The Silencing Charm Harriet had cast around the bedroom had managed to conceal the sounds of Ixora's labour.
Harriet held one of her daughter's hands as Hugo held the other while they both encouraged her until a sharp, little cry rang out.
Ixora fell back against the pillows with a wail of relief, but Harriet couldn't hold back the tears in her emerald eyes as she watched the midwife swaddle a screaming, dirty newborn.
"WWWWWAAAA!"
"WWWWWAAA!"
"You did so well, my darling! You did so very well!" Hugo whispered while he clutched his wife close, with their hands still intertwined as he kissed her forehead.
"Here you are, Mrs. Weasley." The midwife smiled as she reached over the remaining swell of Ixora's belly and placed the infant in her mother's arms, "You two have a lovely, healthy new daughter."
Harriet put a hand over her mouth as she watched the awe on her eldest child's face while she fell in love with her first baby.
She could hardly hold back the pride that surged in her heart as she watched the new family enjoy a moment of silent bonding.
"Isn't she beautiful, Mum?!" Ixora gasped as she looked up at Harriet.
"She's perfect, sweetheart." Harriet smiled through her tears as she glanced from her daughter to her tiny granddaughter.
The adorable newborn already had the Weasleys' red hair, but as she blinked her dark eyes open, Harriet's breath hitched.
Ixora noticed it straight away.
While she looked at her baby girl, she exclaimed with a laugh, "Look! She even has Dad's eyes!"

Once she had been comfortably settled, Ixora gave her permission to have the other grandparents come upstairs and meet little Harriet Hermione Weasley
Ron and Hermione respectfully stayed only long enough to congratulate their son and daughter-in-law.
After they briefly whispered hello to their new granddaughter, they allowed the little family time to rest while they went downstairs and prepared a hearty meal for everyone.
As Ixora slept, Hugo remained devotedly by her side.
Across the room, Severus cuddled his first grandchild while Harriet watched.
"I told you she has your eyes." She smiled as she watched her alpha gaze at the baby with mystified wonder on his pale face.
"...Be thankful she wasn't cursed with my nose." Severus quipped.
Harriet laughed quietly as she reached up and pressed a quick kiss against Severus's lips.
While their daughter slept, Hugo looked away, and the midwife packed her bag, Severus allowed himself to indulge by stealing a taste of his beloved wife.
Although he could scarcely believe he had become a grandfather, his joy at holding Ixora's daughter burned as brightly as if Harriet had borne him another child.
Once Harriet pulled away, Severus gazed at her with his black eyes glimmering in silent adoration.
It amazed him how his lonely life had brightened.
Regardless of the fact that he had spent years despising Harriet and blaming her for his sorrows, since their union, his existence had changed for the better.
Severus took a deep breath as he stared into his mate's emerald eyes and recalled their fond memories in a matter of seconds; from their love-making to their deep talks, to the children's births, to happy family moments spent during warm summer mornings and cozy winter evenings.
Harriet Potter had given Severus Snape every enjoyable happiness and in return, he had given himself to her……….always.
