Author's Note (Monster): Hi guys! I'm alive, still. I wrote a couple of chapters for American Tragedy but unfortunately, those chapters don't happen until 30 chapters later lmao. I'm working on another requested drabble as well but it's mighty long. So the mood to write is there but time isn't always on my side. Had this request lying around for a while now. Enjoy.

How does it feel being Charlie's brother? X3 01:25am
Jake huffed when he opened his DM's. How does it feel? Well, for starters 'Charlie' was just Jordon to him. The stupid big brother who used to sit on his face when mom left the room and laughed when Jake yelled for mom because mom couldn't hear him. The fucker of a brother he used to annoy the fuck out of by holding his finger less than half an inch from Jordon's face, insisting he wasn't touching him when Jordon yelled "STOP TOUCHING ME!".
At least, until Jesse stomped into the room to pick them apart. He lay on the bed in his apartment, scrolled mindlessly through social media.
Jake
Your fangirls keep DM'ing me about you at random times 10:30am
Jordon
I'm amazing, ofc they do 10:35am
Jake
Del Taco? 10:40am
Jordon
Fuck yeah. You're paying 10:41am
Jake
Like Hell I am! 10:42am
He grumbled at his phone, got up and made himself presentable to go outside. Not to see Jordon. Fuck that. Jordon saw him in every awkward phase of his life, he'd never make himself presentable for that fucker.
Del Taco was two blocks away. He rounded the corner on one block and could see Jordon standing there waiting for him. He had his jacket zipped up to the top, hands deep into his pockets. He hadn't spotted his brother yet and his face was the definition of a storm cloud. Jake wondered if Jordon had always had a resting bitch face to begin with.
"Watch it, you'll kill someone with that look."
Jordon turned his head and immediately picked up a bright smile. "Hey man, took you long enough. Only two blocks away and still slow as fuck."
"Hey not everyone replaces a 10min walk with a car ride", Jake huffed. "Now quit whining and go inside."
Jordon rolled his eyes and entered. "I'm not entering because you told me to but because I'm hungry as Hell."
The two sat somewhere in the back and enjoyed a nostalgic meal. Jordon stuff his face like he'd been starving for weeks.
"Do you, like, not eat when you're in the studio with the guys?" Jake asked.
Jordon shook his head. "They insist fast food is not healthy enough."
"Who's they? George and Dylan for sure, right?"
Jordon smirked. "George is hellbent on weight loss and training his way into being ripped. He's well on the way."
"And how's the recording going?"
"Pretty okay. We recently finished Usual Suspects. I got a good feeling about that one", Jordon sighed after speaking and something seemed off but Jake couldn't quite put his finger on it.
They were disturbed when Jordon got a call. There was a look of annoyance on his face before he got up. "Sorry, gotta take this."
He walked off and picked up the phone. Jake could only hear. "Yeah, George?"
Jake took out his phone and pretended to be busy, just to avoid having people think he came here alone and ordered two meals. He didn't really understand why Jordon left him alone to take a call from George of all people. They went way back! He knew George. He could've taken the call here. It wasn't noisy at all. Scrolling through every bit of social media he had on his phone, he started to notice Jordon had been gone a long time.
Like 15 minutes at least.
Just when he was about to get up and check on him, he returned. Jordon sat down. The storm cloud on his face had returned but lost some of its vigour. It was more like a rain cloud now. "You okay?"
Jordon looked up and flashed him a weak smile. "Never better."
Jake knew he was lying but he didn't press the issue further.
Over the course of 2 weeks, Jordon asked to meet up for lunch a lot more often than not. He didn't usually get to see his brother that much anymore but now, it seemed like Jordon had all the time in the world. Recording was going well, yet there was a distant look in his eyes whenever Jake asked.
He knew Jordon's stupid passion for music. He knew it from the day Jordon got his guitar and put up a show for the family, singing some country at age 13. He wanted to play music. Whenever anything to do with his music was mentioned, dude got passionate and heated, full of life. Now, talking about it seemed to drain the life out of him. There was something wrong and Jake had a feeling it had to do with the phone call from George.
"Did something happen with George?"
It was cold outside so they walked together to keep themselves warm while talking. Jordon froze in response to that question. "What? Why?"
"You've been weird."
Jordon shrugged.
"You've been more weird than I know you."
"Oh fuck off", Jordon punched his arm lightly but there was no life in the exchange. Jake sunk his hands into his pockets. "You know you can tell me, right?"
"I know", Jordon sighed.
They walked together in silence for a small distance. Jordon inhaled sharply. "He dumped me."
"Dumped you?"
"Yeah."
Jake furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said. He dumped me. Broke up with me", Jordon huffed. He was purposely looking away from his brother.
"Why did he dump you?" Jake asked. He didn't even know they were dating in the first place.
"Said we worked better as friends", Jordon shrugged.
Jake took a few steps with him in silence. "Did you?"
Jordon looked up at the sky, small clouds leaving his mouth in the cold air. "Maybe. I don't know. I think he gave up as soon as we hit a bump in the road."
"Was it the call when we were out for lunch?" Jake aked.
Jordon shook his head. "That was just some stupid fight. We broke up when I got home."
Jake hummed, not sure what to say. "You love him?"
Jordon nodded slowly. "I think so."
"That sucks."
"Yeah."
"You'll find some other asshole who loves your dumb face", Jake offered.
Jordon chuckled. "Thanks."
"Try Dylan."
"Dylan's with Danny – Wait, I didn't mean to sound like I would if he were single", Jordon quickly corrected himself. Jake laughed. "Right, man, too late. You want Dylan."
"No, I don't!"
"Sure."
They continued their walk, not another word spoken about George. They talked about dumb crap, about Jesse, about mom. No pats on the back, no "there there", no tears. Jake was sure Jordon knew he supported him and that he could always talk to him, but they'd never have any chick flick moments. Not now, not ever.
At the end of the walk, Jordon smiled to himself. "Thanks… for the walk."
"No problem."
