Chapter 1: An apple on the rise
Unsurprisingly, it was yet another busy day of work at Sweet apple acres.
"Aww sis cmon! Let me do the applebuckin on this tree!" the small earth pony filly called out, following her older sister who was approaching to the next tree to buck. Applebloom firmly believed she was at a point where she could be of more assistance to her family and the business, and along with helping others discover their special talents/cutie marks, she especially wanted to be of more help at Sweet apple acres.
"Sorry sis but it's a no, Yer back legs just ain't strong enough yet" Applejack said as she bucked the tree with a plethora of apples falling into the basket. "But don't you worry, when you're a little older you'll get there" AJ said, her voice changing from assertive to comforting.
"Hmph.." Applebloom pouted.
"Hey now, don't be givin me all that, Applebuckin at your age could get you seriously hurt when yer legs aint developed enough. I'm just lookin out for ya. Mac and I were the same way when we were your age. You'll get there, trust me." Applejack said, genuinely wanting to put her little sister at ease.
Applebloom giggled lightly "I know I know.."
The two made their way back to the barn, meeting Big Mac, who had gotten their a little bit before.
'So Mac, good day of buckin?" Applejack shouted out to her older brother.
Big mac confidently looked behind him, with dozens of baskets all filled to the brim with apples. "eeYup." He said just as confidently as he looked.
"Heh, not bad I suppose.." Applejack stepped to the side, revealing what had to have been double the inventory that big mac had pulled in.
As Big Mac stood in shock and speechless, Applejack walked over, "Best step up yer game Mac, remember, whoever pulls in more apples at the end of the week, is on dish duty for the next month" AJ said cocky as ever.
"Just you wait" replied Big mac, not letting his sister playfully cocky attitude affect his confidence.
"Guess I'll leave yall to have yer fun.." Applebloom said as she sighed and gloomily walked off.
Applejack and Mac took notice. The two trotted over the Applebloom."I know ya wanna be more help around her sis, and I promise ya will be, There'll be new opportunities and more ways for you to help out as ya get older, just take it day by day and things might just change sooner than ya think." Applejack said, another very genuine and truthful remark to also attempt to cheer her little sister up.
Applebloom stood in shock
"Change
"Well sure, Granny Smith can't exactly go like she used to, and our business has been especially booming as of late, which is real good, but it also means a whooole lotta work and we don't exactly have much staff, hehe. My point is you'll get there. As things change, s'long as yer hearts still in it, theres no doubt in mah mind you can be Sweet apple acres's best worker." Applejack said as Big Mac nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, yer right, thanks y'all." Applebloom said, though she said this confidently, mentally she did not feel the same. This was a lot to take in for her.
There was a lot to think about.
