Author's Note: This is the most cursed thing I have ever written...I'm sorry.
New Kyiv, 23:20
Deep in the tunnels underneath the city, UMP 45 and UMP 9 cautiously moved down the passageway leading into the laboratory. They were here on a simple collection job, child's play compared to their usual assignments, but the pay was simply too good to pass up.
UMP 45 gave her map a quick check as the duo approached an intersection. "This way." She said, motioning for 9 to follow her.
Doctor Doge stood alone in his laboratory, calmly taking samples out of the containment unit. He'd been tipped off that people were coming for him, but he wasn't going to just hand it over. No, this was his masterpiece, his life's work, he wasn't going to make it easy for them.
"It's sheer perfection." Doge spoke as he admired one of the samples. "My precious Gamer-Girl Bathwater, no-one will ever take you away from me."
Just then, the door to his lab swung open and pairs of heavy footsteps pounded into the room. They had arrived sooner than he had expected, he had hoped to be out of town by the time they had arrived...But no matter, he'd make his stand here. He quickly slammed the case shut and cradled it in his left arm, while grabbing his handgun with his right.
"There he is!" UMP 9 shouted, her and 45 quickly trained their weapons on the doctor.
"Doctor Doge, you'll hand over the Gamer-Girl Bathwater...Quietly." UMP 45 calmly commanded.
They really thought it was going to be that easy, Doge couldn't help but snicker. "You think I didn't know you were coming? This is my life's work! I'm not handing over ANYTHING!" Doge shouted in protest.
"We have our orders, Doctor. I'll ask you one more time..." 45 calmly issued another warning.
The Doctor had heard enough, there wasn't going to be any talking his way out of this, there was only one option for him now. The Doctor quickly raised his pistol to fire on the mercs, but before he could pull the trigger, a searing pain shot through his arm and quickly threw him off balance. An orchestra of gunshots rang out at the world went into slow motion, he felt the impacts tearing through his arm and torso one by one as his body was riddled with bullets.
"Enough! You might hit the sample!" 45 cried out as the Doctor lifelessly slumped against the cabinet behind him, leaving a red streak as he limply slid down it.
45 casually kicked the Doctor's gun to the other end of the room and deftly cracked the case open for a quick peek.
"Yep, that's it alright. Okay, let's move out!" 45 quickly picked up the case, her and 9 filed out of the room just as quickly as they had entered.
416 was bored sick. Why the hell did 45 even bother dragging her and G11 to this job if they were just going to stand around? Were they afraid they were going to get ambushed by a giant rat? That was the only sign of life in these tunnels, nobody else dared venture down here. 416's train of thought was interrupted by the sound of snoring at her feet, G11 sat leaned against the wall, peacefully slumped over as she drifted off to sleep. Of course she'd do this, and this time she couldn't even blame her.
416 let out a frustrated sigh as she moved her hand to her earpiece. "Alpha team, have you retrieved the sample yet?" She called out impatiently over the comms.
"Affirmative, we'll be at the rendezvous point in one minute." The response came in.
"Roger." 416 replied, her frustration lifting from her tone as she spoke.
416 turned and gave G11 a quick kick to the side.
"Ow! Hey! I jus-" G11 was quickly cut off
"Get up. We're leaving this rathole."
"But I was just starting to get comfy..." G11 lamented.
416 groaned as she rolled her eyes, and pulled G11 to her feet forcefully.
Doctor Doge sat slumped against the cabinet as he felt the life draining from him. Damn, if only they had killed him quickly, he wouldn't have to endure the shame of watching them just grab his samples from him and walk off. He wanted to at least make sure they didn't walk away without a bloody nose, but they had taken him out and gotten the samples like they were out getting lunch. He could barely move his arms, agonizing pain engufled the entire side of his body. He could feel a steady, warm flow pouring out of his shoulder as he felt a cold tingling sensation all throughout his arm. They had gotten his subclavian artery - he knew he was done for.
Suddenly, a small syringe casually rolled up to his side. He knew what it was - the last sample...This was it, this was his last and only chance to make them suffer for what they had done. He would lose himself in the process, but he was done for anyways, he couldn't even consider it as a price. With the last of his strength, Doctor Doge clasped his hands around the syringe. His hands trembled as he slowly lifted it to align it with his chest - and injected the Gamer-Girl Bathwater directly into his Aorta.
"416...What's taking them so long. I thought they said it would only be a minute, I'm getting tired again." G11 whined.
"Hush!" 416 snapped as she listened intently, either for the team's footsteps or for them to hail them over the comms, when suddenly...
"FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET"A deep growl boomed through the tunnels, shaking the walls as it resonated through the dark maze.
"Wh-Wha-What was that?!" G11 whimpered out.
"Something's wrong. Let's check it out." 416 replied coolly as her grip tightened around her weapon.
"D-Do we have t-"
"I said move it!" 416 growled as she shoved G11 forward. "The sound came from over there!"
The passage was a dead end...45 couldn't believe she lost her cool and took the wrong route. She turned around to find that...thing still pursuing them, slowly encroaching upon them as their backs inched closer to the wall. 45 drew her sidearm as 9 trembled, training her weapon on the monstrosity before them.
"Shoot it!" 45 cried out. 45's command quickly snapped 9 out of her daze.
9 quickly switched her gun to auto - she wasn't going to skimp on the ammo, she was going to kill this thing deader than dead, whatever it was.
"Eat this you freak!" 9 yelled as she held down the trigger. The walls shook as a hailstorm of bullets pelted the creature, but 9's magazine quickly ran empty with a hearty *click*, and the creature continued to approach, seemingly unfazed.
"I-It's not stopping!" 9 cried out in a panic.
"What is this thing?!" 45's said shakily, even she was beginning to lose her composure.
The sound of 45 and 9's collective screaming caused even 416's blood to freeze, stopping her in her tracks. 416 and G11 exchanged a terrified look before 416 quickly snapped out of it.
"Hurry!" 416 shouted as her and G11 broke into a run towards the source of the sound.
416 and G11 quickly rounded the corner to see this...thing standing before 45 and 9, who were sprawled out on the ground as the creature began deftly pulling off their boots.
"Wha-What is this thing?!" G11 cried out in terror.
The monster quickly turned towards the remaining duo and let out a deep growl.
"FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET" It boomed out as it began to quickly approach them.
"FIRE! FIRE!" 416 screamed as she let down the trigger, G11 quickly followed suit.
The creature broke into a run towards them, completely unhindered by the raging torrent of gunfire. It didn't take long to close the gap, it quickly rushed up to G11 and slapped her away like an empty can. Her cries growing faint as she flew down the tunnel, disappearing into the darkness.
"Son of a-" 416 cut herself off by letting off another burst of automatic gunfire, though she quickly felt the bolt of her gun only cycle half-way, locking in place at the rearward position - she was out of ammo. She could only watch in petrified horror as the creature began to slowly encroach upon her, and she let out a scream of raw terror that resonated throughout the network of tunnels.
"FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET"
416 screamed as she jerked awake on the couch, causing G11 to literally jump out of her seat.
"UWAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" G11 screamed in response to the sudden noise.
416 quickly looked around to find that she was safely in her dorm room, and breathed out a sigh of relief.
G11 sat next to her, a small controller in her hand, still playing what looked like the same video game she had started up when 416 fell asleep.
"416! Why did you scream so loud?! What if you gave me a heart attack?!" G11 whined.
"Doll's can't get heart attacks, dummkopf!" 416 snapped.
"W-Why are you so angry?...What did I do?" G11 recoiled.
"Your stupid game gave me a nightmare!" 416 yelled accusingly as she gave G11 a slight kick on the shin, and turned away from her, crossing her arms with an annoyed pout.
What the hell did I eat that gave me such a weird dream? 416 pondered to herself.
Oh well, whatever the hell that was, at least it was just a bad dream.
