Mariposa took a deep breath and placed her hands on the candle.

"Will you use your gift to honor our miracle? Will you serve this community and strengthen our home?" asked Abuela.

"I will," she replied.

Abuela gestured for Mariposa to place her hand on the doorknob. It swung open as her name and a picture formed in the glow of the door. She gasped at the beauty. "So what is it?" asked Camilo.

"Patience," snapped Abuela.

"Beautiful," said Bruno, standing next to his daughter.

There were three still pools of water evenly spaced across the greenest grass Mariposa had ever seen. Nearby was a large koi pond. And in the distance was a large waterfall.

"Does it have something to do with water?" asked Luisa.

Mariposa continued toward the first pool of water as it began to glow. She stared deeply into its smooth surface, forgetting the world around her as it faded away. Sunlight surrounded her and she saw Abuela addressing the family at the table, breakfast spread across.

"So that's your gift," said Bruno, his smile fading.

"What is it?" asked Mariposa, the room reappearing around her.

"You get visions, too."

"I do?"

"What did you see?" asked Abuela, worry flashing across her face.

"Breakfast?" replied Mariposa, confused.

"Breakfast?"

Abuela took a deep breath and turned to address the crowd. "We have a new gift," she shouted.

The crowd roared with cheers as the family squeezed Mariposa into a large group hug.

"But, what is it?" asked Camilo.

"I think I can see the future," said Mariposa.

"Huh. Don't we already have that gift in the family?" he replied, dramatically gesturing to Bruno.

"Every gift is unique," said Abuela, "No matter how similar."

Mariposa smiled, "I'm special?"

"Very," said Bruno, a hint of sadness behind his eyes.

"What are the other pools for?" asked Isabela.

Mariposa slowly approached the next pool. This time, an image appeared: a large crowd dancing on the grass nearby. "I think it's the future too," said Mariposa.

"What did you see?" asked Bruno.

"Everybody dancing."

"Interesting," he mumbled, "So, this shows the future but not as far ahead as the other one."

Bruno guided Mariposa to the next pool, and she burst into tears. In the smooth water was the image of a woman reading a story to a baby. Mariposa was too young for that to be her own memory, so it had to be a part of her gift.

"Your mother," said Bruno, fighting back tears, "That was one of her favorite stories, she told it to you all the time."

"So, I'm looking at the past?"

"Looks like it," he replied.

"Wonderful gift, wonderful gift," said Abuela, her voice increasing in volume with each word, "Now, let us celebrate. Come, dance, everyone, come and dance."

Mariposa led the crowd to the open field she had seen in her vision and everyone began to celebrate.
