NEW JERICHO TOWER
1:12 PM
Hank finally made the annoyingly-long drive to the defunct Cyberlife tower. 'Shit, now I can see why he didn't make it all the way to my house, that took forever in a car...' A female android approached his left window. She seemed familiar, probably Markus' girlfriend or something. "Human! What business do you have here?"
"Uh, I'm here to see Markus. It's about Connor."
"Oh, of course. Then you must be Lieutenant Anderson?"
"Yup, that's me..."
The android signaled for someone to open the large gates. The word "CYBERLIFE" on it had been replaced with "JERICHO" because the number of letters in both of the words was conveniently the same. "Please proceed."
Hank drove down the long.. Drive.. To the building. He parked out front and got out of his car to head inside. The moment he entered, he was met with uncomfortable glares, and muttering from the deviants inside. 'Damn, they fought so hard for equal rights and now they're gonna treat humans like zoo animals..' He thought. 'Hypocrites.' He didn't walk ten feet before North stopped him. "I'll escort you to where Markus is."
"Eh, no thanks, I know where I'm going."
"We can't have a human running loose in the tower."
'She thinks I'm a terrorist.' "Alright, I understand.."
North led him to the elevator.
TOP FLOOR OF NEW JERICHO TOWER
1:14 PM
The elevator doors opened to a room that looked like a conference room. There were two white leather sofas in the middle of the room, next to a table. Every room in the tower had been completely remodeled since the revolution ended. It looked nothing like how it did the day Sixty held him hostage. Thinking about that made him feel stupid. 'Can't believe I let that asshole hold a gun to my head.. I mean, he was just following orders.. Still kinda glad I shot him.'
"Lieutenant?" Markus called out to him. Hank blinked. "Oh, hey."
"You wanted to see me about Connor."
"Uh, yeah.. Have you seen him around..?"
"Not for the last week, no. I'm beginning to worry about him, actually.."
"Me too... Have there been any suspicious-acting deviants around, lately? Anyone holding a grudge against Connor?"
"Unfortunately, most of New Jericho is very guarded around him.. They only see Connor for the machine he was, instead of the person he's become.."
'Those assholes.. He's done so much for them and what do they do in return? Jackshit.' "So, you're more like humans than we thought, huh.."
"I suppose.. Anyway, there has been a group of deviants spreading terrible rumors revolving around Connor and his past, they're.. The reason why he left."
Hank's hands tightened into fists. "Fuckin' jerks.. Are they still here?"
"They left soon after Connor."
"Who are they?" That was when he got a text from Fowler.
"We got an analysis on the thirium, it belongs to Connor."
"Shit."
Markus tilted his head. "What?"
"Got a text from the captain of my precinct.. Connor was assaulted in front of my house this morning." 'In broad fuckin' daylight.. Can't believe I didn't do anything about it..' Even though he couldn't have done anything, he still felt guilty. Like it was his fault..
"I knew I should've done something about it, shit.."
"I feel the same way! Do you have any information on the suspects?"
"Yeah, three GJ200's named Albert, James, and Joey."
"Thanks. I should be going before those-" He interrupted himself. "..Before they hurt other innocent people."
"Good luck, Lieutenant."
Hank took his leave of the tower.
