Kae groaned loudly, rolling over in bed. There is something wrong with her stomach that morning.
There is something pressing against the insides of her gut, making her gastric cavity feel constrained and whatever was flowing in there just that much closer to spill out. Her cotton mouth is almost unbearable, tasting something akin to death itself.
The young woman looks over to her nightstand, where a glass of water had been conveniently and helpfully placed for her consumption. She raises her arms, trying to reach it, but to no avail, as she was heavily restrained by a slightly-snoring body mass. Oh, if only she preferred sleeping separately!
She tried to sneak out of the bed, but as she valiantly tries to escape, the more she felt a pair of hands on her waist, trying to pull her closer. She needed to get up and move away, or else she would make a mess on the bed. None of the involved parties have any interest in such a thing, so she pushed the sickness away, determined to get up and stumble into the bathroom.
Kae sat up, her head swimming with nausea.
"Oh, no…" She groaned, scooting to get out of the bed.
There is no way to go through with this with care and patience, so she simply climbs over her husband, nearly tripping over his heaving chest as she got out and towards the toilet.
She quickly made her way to the bathroom, nearly not making it before she emptied the contents of her stomach into the white bowl. The smell of cleaning products and the stupid rose oil that she insists on mixing with them were certainly not helpful in making her feel better.
The alarm clock on the bedside table displayed the hour as being around half past five in the morning. Kae is already in such a pathetic state, and she feels awful about it. She will not last until sunset. She almost feels like crying.
It is then that she feels a pair of hands pulled her hair back, using an elastic to hold it back.
"Can I get you anything?" Nozomu asked.
Kae shook her head, signalling the negative.
"Were you the one I squished? Sorry for that, I was in a bit of a hurry." She asked, coughing into the toilet the last remainders of gastric fluid on her throat.
She could stand to never throw up again, she figures. She would not be so sad about it.
Nozomu chuckled, light-hearted, hoping to inspire his wife to face the day in the same manner. "Yeah, but no worries. I was about to get up anyways."
"To make breakfast?" Kae asked, wiping her mouth on a towel and flushing the toilet.
"You just threw up, and now you want food?" Nozomu asked, arching a brow at her.
She shrugged. "The baby wants what the baby wants. If he's hungry, I'm not about to tell him no."
Moving to the sink, she grabbed her toothbrush to brush her teeth, Nozomu still hovering nearby.
"When you put it like that…" The blond man ponders. "Tell me, then. What does the baby want for breakfast today?"
"Pancakes. With syrup and chocolate chips, please." Kae said, grinning. "Ah, and whipped cream and strawberries, too!"
Nozomu laughed.
"Alright, I'll go get started on that." He kissed the top of her head. "Make sure you wake up lazy bones over there. He'll be mad if we eat without him."
Kae chuckled at the reference of her other husband.
"Yeah, I know how Yuzuke gets with food and mornings." She muttered while brushing. "Thank you! I love you."
"Love you, too." Nozomu said after kissing the top of her head, going out the bathroom and heading to the kitchen of their small flat.
After finishing brushing her teeth, Kae took a second to look at her appearance. At five months pregnant, her bump was looking just right. It is not too large, but it was definitely noticeable. She rubbed it, excited to meet her future little bundle of joy.
Feeling refreshed after brushing her teeth and washing her face, she smiles at her reflection in the mirror and leaves the small bathroom. Moving out into the bedroom, she headed to the bed. Getting on, she crawled over to the far side where Yuzuke was wrapped up in the blankets. She saw his face peeking through and pressed a kiss to it.
He grumbled something incoherently.
"Wake up, sleepyhead. It's time to wake up, already, or you'll be late for work." Kae said quietly. "Nozomu is already making breakfast."
"Perfect." Yuzuke said, rolling over and taking Kae into his arms. He kissed her softly. "How's our little seedling doing today?"
Their little seedling. Theirs. Meaning that all three of them were their parents. They do not technically know if the baby was Nozomu's or Yuzuke's, but to her husbands, it does not matter. They were a family all the same, and none of them feel particularly pressed into finding out which genetic make-up their child turn out to have.
"Not too bad. They're just pressing annoyingly against my stomach, but I guess it could be worse." Kae said, grinning. "He's why we're getting pancakes."
"What the baby wants, the baby gets." Yuzuke said, laughing as he got out of bed and knowing full well that his husband has gotten played. "But it could be a girl, you know?"
Kae shrugged. "I'm sure that it's a boy, but I guess we'll see."
She is baiting him, and if he was a lesser man, he would play along with her scheme to name their child Shion. They will do as she wishes, but it is cute to see her squirm.
Yuzuke grinned. "Come on, before Nozomu ends up eating all the pancakes he makes."
Kae followed Yuzuke out of the bedroom, rubbing her bump. She could not wait to get her hands on those pancakes, with syrup, chocolate chips, strawberries and whipped cream.
