Sokka and his friend Aang had just finished their last class period and were on their way to go home from school until something caught Sokka's eyes.
"Over there!" Sokka shouted, pointing to the flower shop right across the street. "Come on, I think I still got some money left to buy something."
"Um, what do you need flowers for?" Aang asked.
"Great question, Aang. I'm not sure if Air Nomads celebrate it on their temples but today is actually Valentine's day." Sokka told.
"Oh Valentine's day, what's so special about it?" Aang shrugged.
"You know, it's that time of the year when couples share their love and spend time with one another," Sokka said, giving some Water Tribe coins to the flower vendor in exchange for a bouquet of Scarlett roses.
"You're a little short on money, the flowers are twenty silver pieces. You only gave me fifteen." The flower girl told.
"Oh shoot! That's all the money I have left." Sokka yelled. "Aang you wouldn't happen to have five silver pieces on you that I can burrow?"
"Sure hold on, let me check my pockets," Aang said. He started checking every pocket on his pants, all of it was empty. He then took out his backpack, opened it and nothing was there except for his adorable little pet lemur, Momo. "Sorry, Sokka. I forgot I didn't bring any money today."
"Didn't bring any-? Wait a minute, how did you buy lunch today?" Sokka asked.
"Sir, will you please hurry up? You're holding up the line." The flower girl told.
"Okay fine, how much for this?" Sokka asked, pointing his index finger to the white Lily on a small pot.
"Fifteen silver pieces." The flower girl said.
"For that single flower!?" Sokka exclaimed. "What, did you pluck this up from the spirit world or something?"
"Take it or leave it." The flower girl sighed in frustration.
After a few seconds, Sokka decided to buy the white Lily. He held the small flower in his hand, hoping that it would be enough to potentially help him get a Valentine's date.
"So do you really think, you can get a date with that small flower?" Aang asked.
"Wanna bet on it?" Sokka smirked.
"You're on." Aang chuckled. Both of them shook hands to make the bet official.
"You see that girl there near the window?" Sokka told. "I've been wanting to ask her out for a month now, but I just couldn't find the right time to do it."
"A month? Wow, seems to me like you really like her." Aang said. "Why wait until today to make your move?"
"I don't know, I guess I'm just scared that she'll reject me," Sokka said. "Hopefully I've gathered enough courage to talk to her."
"You know, my friend, Gyatso once told me that if you are feeling an overwhelming amount of doubt within yourself, you just got to take a deep breath and take a huge fart," Aang told.
"Wait what?" Sokka winced, his eyebrows raised in confusion.
"I'm just kidding!" Aang laughed really hard, making Sokka shake his head.
"Wait, where is she going?" Sokka noticed the girl he admires, walking towards the library exit.
"I think she's going home," Aang said.
"Oh man, I was just about to ask her out," Sokka said, his shoulders slumping from disappointment.
"Maybe you can still ask her out if you follow her," Aang suggested.
"No Aang, I don't wanna look like a stalker or something." Sokka sighed. In his frustration, he kicked a tiny pebble that was on the ground, hitting Jet behind the head.
"Ouch!" Jet shouted. "Hey, were you the guy that threw this pebble at me?" Sokka and Aang looked at each other and gulped when they saw the angry teenager and his pack of edgy friends march toward them.
"Okay, which one of you did it?" Jet asked, holding the tiny pebble in his hand.
"It's me, Jet. I'm sorry I didn't mean. It." Sokka said.
"Yeah, it was an accident," Aang said.
"It wasn't an accident, I saw him aiming the rock toward you." The Duke, one of Jet's best friends told.
"What?" Sokka glanced at Jets friends, clearly lying just so they can have an excuse to beat them up.
"Okay, boomerang boy. You wanna pick a fight with me?" Jet growled.
"I really don't like where this is going," Sokka muttered. "Come on Jet, you know me, I don't want to fight you. I even got you that cozy sweater for Christmas, remember?"
"Oh yeah! The one that you used to wipe Appa's nose with! That was hilarious!" Aang laughed. Sokka frowned at Aang, telling him to shut up.
"Oh sorry, my bad," Aang said.
Hearing enough, Jet threw a perfectly executed roundhouse kick toward Sokka but caught only air after the water tribe native dodged it.
"Run!" Aang shouted and both of them started doing just that. Jet and four of his friends chased them down the school corridors.
When Sokka glanced behind him, he saw Jet's eagerness to have a piece of him and he could tell that he will not stop chasing him until he catches him.
"You're dead meat, you hear me!" Jet yelled.
Sokka and Aang reached a dead end on the corner of the school's fire exit.
"It won't open," Sokka told. "We're toast, Aang!"
"This is not good," Aang said.
"You're right. It's not gonna be good for either of you." Jet said, cracking his knuckles. "I'm gonna enjoy beating the shit out of you two."
Before Jet and his pack could administer a beating to Aang and Sokka, a teenager with a burnt scar on his left eye, suddenly tells them to stop.
"Who the hell are you?" Jet asked.
"It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is what I'm doing right now and that's stopping a bunch of bullies from beating up defenseless students." The teenager said.
"How about you mind your own business, otherwise, we'll kick your ass too." Jet threatened.
"Try me." The teenager told.
"What did you say?" Jet asked.
"He's calling you out, Jet," Smellerbee told. "Let's teach him a lesson."
Students from all over the school started crowding the scene. All of them are screaming in unison, excited from the anticipation of what's to come. "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!"
The teenager stood with his arms out, asking the bullies what are they waiting for?
Finally, Jet lunges forward to give the teenager a massive punch to the face. But to his surprise, instead of hitting the teenager's scarred face, he hit the concrete wall. Jet screamed in pain, his knuckles aching from the impact.
"What are you all doing watching? Take him down!" Jet yelled. Before they could even retaliate, the fight was quickly stopped when the principal of the school came to the scene.
"Oh, crud! It's principal Bumi!" Said one of the students in the crowd. And just like that, the students that crowded the room had fled faster than they came. The funny thing is even Jet's friends ran away and left him.
"Will someone tell me what is going on here?" Principal Bumi asked.
"Nothing's going on here sir, everything is alright." Jet said, still suffering from the pain that his fist went through.
"Is that so? What happened to your hand?" Principal Bumi asked. Jet remained silent as he glared at Sokka, Aang, and the scar-faced teenager. "Tsk, tsk. Mister Jet, how many times do I have to give you a warning about bullying other students?"
"But they are the ones that started it!" Jet yelled.
"I heard that already before." Principal Bumi told. "I'm telling you now, Jet. If you don't get it together, I will have no choice but to expel you from this prestigious school. Are we clear?"
"Crystal clear, sir." Jet said. Once principal Bumi was out of sight, Jet pointed at Sokka, Aang, and the teenager with a scar. "This isn't over."
"Whatever you say, one punch man." Sokka quipped, making Aang laugh more than he should.
"Hey, thanks for saving our butts back there," Sokka told.
"Yeah, it was a close one," Aang said.
"Don't mention it. I was getting tired of those guys pushing people around." The teenager said.
"Wanna hang out with us for a bit?" Sokka asked.
"Yeah, we were having this bet if whether Sokka can get a Valentine's date with this white little flower," Aang told.
"Yeah well, the girl I wanted to give this to probably already went home," Sokka told. "So I guess the bet is off."
"Bummer," Aang told.
"Sorry guys, I'd love to hang out but I'm kind of waiting for my little sister. I was supposed to pick her up." The teenager said. "Oh wait, there she is."
Sokka glanced to where the teenager was nodding at. His eyes squinted to see the figure walking out of the shadowy hallway. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped right on the floor when it was revealed to him that the girl walking toward them is none other than his beautiful and intelligent high-school crush, Azula.
