Piper

I'm dead. I know I am. The dracanae's claws ran right through my heart. But I stick around for a little bit, my spirit watching Percy. So does the rest of the seven.

Percy's eyes, once filled with panic, turn from a slightly restless sea to a full-on hurricane. His eyes look like they're glowing. Suddenly, he drops to his knees, his head bowed, as he screams at the sky. The ground shakes in an earthquake created by the grief of the son of Poseidon. I shudder, knowing that that scream will reach every corner of the Earth.

When Percy looks back up at the smirking monsters, his eyes are so stormy, they look almost black. He smiles slowly, and I shiver again, knowing that that smile is not a normal Percy smile. This is the smile of a monster.

Percy laughs, and the monsters suddenly look nervous. "I may not have a sword," he whispers, "but I don't need a weapon to kill the monsters who murdered all of my friends." He makes a grabbing motion with his hand, and all of the monsters freeze. He pulls his hand towards himself, and ten or fifteen basilisks are yanked towards him.

I pale more than I already am, since I'm a ghost. Percy Jackson, the kind boy who can't even kill hellhounds without feeling bad, is controlling the water in the monsters' bodies. I can tell that this method of control is painful by the looks on their faces.

Percy grins crazily. I know that he's never used this power before. He would hate it. Hades, he even hated controlling poison, and that's nothing compared to controlling living creatures. It makes me think he's gone into shock.

He twists his hand, and all the dracanae fall to the ground and start writhing in pain. I see Annabeth's soul turn away with tears in her eyes. She doesn't want to see Percy's… how do I put this? Dark side.

Percy opens his hand and taps his palm. All of the monsters disintegrate into a fine gold powder. He repeats his actions with all the other groups of monsters. Then he pulls forward the cyclops that gave the order to kill us. Annabeth swears under her breath. Hazel pulls her in for a hug. "Don't worry, Annabeth. He's trying to protect us. He isn't evil."

Percy gives the cyclops a once-over. Then his eyes start to glow with a poisonous green light. The cyclops starts to scream, a long horrible scream full of pain.

"Mercy, Perseus Jackson, mercy! Please! I beg of you! MERCY!"

Percy only laughs. "Mercy? You kill all of my friends, all of my family, and you dare beg me for mercy? Never." He clenches his hand, and the cyclops's bones burst through his skin. Percy shapes his hand into a claw, and the cyclops bursts into gold dust. Then Percy's eyes turn back to his normal sea green, but they are filled with tears. All the color runs from his face and he stumbles back. His eyes are filled with disgust for himself and what he's done. I knew that he wouldn't use this power without reason.

He races back to our bodies. "Jason? Leo? Piper?" My heart breaks. He sounds like a child. "Frank? Hazel?" He chokes back a sob. "Annabeth?" No one answers him.

He starts to cry. He picks Annabeth's body up, and holds her like a newborn child. He looks up at the sky. "Curse you, gods!" The sky rumbles threateningly. "Whatever, Zeus! I don't care anymore. Do what you want! Strike me with your big scary thunderbolt that I got back for you! Send down something from the Olympus that me and my friends saved only a year ago! Hades, just kill me! Send me to be with my friends!" Nothing happens.

"FINE! Be that way. I'll just do it myself!" Annabeth gasps. "No! Seaweed Brain! If you commit suicide, when I find you in Elysium, I'll kill you again."

A little voice sounds through the battlefield. "Percy?"

The Seven, including Percy, whip towards the voice. Percy runs towards the source. "Kaylie! You're alive. You're not dead. Oh gods, Kaylie. I'm going to get a medic for you right away." His face pales. "Oh, Kaylie… did you see that? What I did to those monsters?

Kaylie sniffles a little bit. "Yeah. Percy, you were scary. You looked evil."

Percy winces. "I know, Kaylie. Oh gods, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I never want to be that type of person. It's just… certain things bring it out. Like the senseless slaughter of all of my friends." He scowls, and Kaylie shrinks back. Percy sees and turns away.

He flicks his hand and the air fills with mist. He finds a drachma and calls Nico and Will.

Nico notices first. "Hey, Percy! How's the summit going?"

Percy glares, tears slipping down his face. "Awful. Nico… everyone is dead. THEY'RE ALL DEAD!" He breaks down, sobbing. Nico closes his eyes. "Percy, they all got Elysium. We're coming right back."

The shadows collect in one corner of camp. Nico and Will step out. They gawk in horror at all of the bodies laying on the ground. Then they turn in unison towards the crying son of Poseidon. They rush over to him. Percy waves them away. "Help Kaylie," he whispers.

Will gives Kaylie some ambrosia and nectar. Nico feels around the bodies to see if anyone is still alive. He shakes his head sadly every time he passes the corpse of another demigod. When he reaches Reyna's body, he gasps. "WILL! Give Reyna some ambrosia and nectar. She's still alive!"

Percy and Will scramble over to Reyna. Will stuffs her with the food of the gods, and her eyes open with a gasp. "I'm taking her to Olympus to be healed by Apollo," Will says.

Percy shakes his head. "I'll do it. I can get there faster." He grabs Reyna's shoulder and vapor travels to Mount Olympus. Nico turns towards the spirits of the Seven. "Go to the Underworld. You will get Elysium."

We all smile at him gratefully as we disappear.
