Meanwhile, in Avalor, somewhere deep within the mountains, a dark light was pouring from a cave while a red magical barrier faded in and out of sight.

"Freedom," came a ghostly voice from the cave. At the same time across the kingdom, dark clouds had formed in the sky.

"This can't be a normal storm, right?" asked Elena who was standing on a balcony at her castle.

"I don't know, but it definitely can't be good," said Mateo.

"Oh, you don't know the half of it," said Skylar as he flew down to them with worry written all over his face.

"Do you know something about this, Skylar?" asked Elena.

"Just an ancient legend passed down in the Jaquin culture which warns of a group of monsters called the Lunar Army," said Skylar.

"They are creatures that grow stronger in the darkness, especially at night when the moon is in the sky," he said.

"You mean like that?" asked Isabel while pointing out a tear in the clouds that revealed the night sky to everyone and was spreading out toward the sea.

"Just how are they able to do this?" asked Mateo.

"Is that magic barrier we talked about ready yet?" asked Elena as they heard the cries of beasts in the distance.

"We haven't tested it, but everything is in place, and it should form around the whole city," said Mateo.

"Then this will be the test, and let's keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well," said Elena. Mateo then used a spell which activated magic stones all around the city.

"We look to be holding good for now, but we don't know how long this will actually last," said Isabel.

"Skylar, is there any way to stop this Lunar Army?" asked Elena as she looked at the glowing barrier that had been formed around them.

"Only the magician Zalasar knows how to deal with them, and no one knows what happened to him as it's been thousands of years," said Skylar.

"Then right now we're just fish in a barrel," said Esteban with a worried expression.
