"Are you guys seriously eating pizza? And playing video games?" Ed asked. "At a time like this?"
Virgil and Cassie sat on the couch, stared vacantly at the screen like drones, almost comically. Kind of odd Garfield of all people is still buying top of the line video games, even after what happened with the VR gogs. That's what addiction does to you. There was an open pizza box there with some cups and plates on the coffee table. The big screen TV was quite a beauty, as was the sound system, though they had the courtesy of turning it way down right now. The room was lit well with a nice white yellow, and there was a new nice white fur rug at their feet. Beast Boy was trying to make the place feel more homey.
Static and Cassie usually go for their nighttime jog around this time. They liked working out together and it's a good thing too, physical training was almost a requirement on the path of a crimefighter. But they were human, and it's always best to eat pizza hot rather than go out there in the cold.
"Hey don't judge Ed, we each got our, er, own ways of coping," Bart Allen said, chomping down on a slice. Bart was a flashy, hyperactive guy, fun to be around.
"Might be in poor taste but that's how it's gotta be," Virgil said, half-joking. "I mean I know I'd rather just ignore our problems than mope." It was also kind of cruel to admit it, but he barely knew most of the people that died. They were colleagues at best. He only worried for his family in Dakota.
"Tch. You need to learn how to be a hero outside of just the public eye. Amistad might have more cognitive function than you," Eduardo said under his breath.
"Hey, I'll admit it, we aren't the best role models in the world, but if you're going to lecture us about maturity- you should be holding everyone else to that standard. Why don't you go and tell Nightwing that that kind of exercise, isn't exactly the 'appropriate' way to deal with grief?" Virgil asked. "Maybe then people can finally get some sleep around here."
It only took a second date for the newly added member Kory to declare she's waited long enough to take their relationship to the next level. Since then, their bedroom has been a carnal den filled with their moaning nearly every night. It took some time to getting used to, and everyone did their best to play dumb. Static lost a bit of respect for Grayson as a leader.
"No clue what you're talking about." Ed must be feigning ignorance. A small child next to Bart watched. "Don't suppose Raquel will appreciate you exposing her son to violence either." Eduardo said. Bart was the one who did most of the babysitting, having the most experience from taking care of Barry's twins.
"His mom's a superhero, he should start getting used to it." Bart joked.
"That's not-! We are not about violence." Ed really knew how to kill the vibe sometimes with his intolerance of anything that can make them look bad. He was always trying to be a role model to look good in front of the camera, his students, the public, anything. Gets a little old when you're at home vibing.
"Yeah we're really the sparkling image of pacifists." Static said. Much as he would like a world where superheroes weren't all about violence, but a lot of heroes tend to act like paragons and hypocrites, which kind of explains the amount of backlash they have been receiving on top of all their failures, though that isn't without some successes. The bad always seems to drown out the good. And holier-than-thou superheroes on TV acting like they're above everyone really set him off.
Virgil has morals, sure, but he wasn't going to pretend he had the answers to life's questions like everyone else did.
"Right, Ed. Mind going with us to Dakota tomorrow morning?" Cassie asked. "V needs to take care of some business."
He paused a moment to process the new info. "You mean to bring your father to the Watchtower?"
"Yeah. Him, and maybe a few others. It's a six hour long trip from here to there. Princess Diana offered to take us on her jet." He was relieved Cassie was over being really upset with Diana. Or at least, was putting it aside because of everything going on.
"I'll go." He didn't have to think or complain about it this time which was nice. Even if it was deflating having him around, he was still dependable. And he was his oldest friend on the team. "Bart coming with?"
"No can do," Bart said, being tugged on by Amistad who wanted some attention. "Got stuff with Blue. Crap. Speaking of. Save my spot, I'll be right back." He needlessly dashed away, making Cassie's long blonde hair flow from wind. Amistad must have gone along with him, as he was nowhere to be found. Hopefully Bart wasn't going fast enough to give the poor kid whiplash.
"I thought he had a fast metabolism." Cassie said.
"Guy still has to take a dump. At least.. I think he does." Static said.
"He means he's going to speak to Jaime." Eduardo said.
They exclaimed an "Oh," in stereo. Eduardo sat in silence while Cassie continued her chat with him while playing their beat 'em up game. It's not all on Eduardo for their friendship kind of souring. Virgil and Cassie have been copying this social media celebrity Jesse James and pulling practical jokes on everyone for a few months or so. He was the only one on the team Virgil was familiar enough with to be able to do some funny junk and get away with it. So they gravitated towards Eduardo. As someone easily bothered, his reactions are often the best out of anyone.
Cassie continued her glum accounting of how she's perceived while playing with him. "It's not even like a vocal minority, it's a lot of amazons that don't like me," Cassie said. "It's always Donna, Donna this, Donna, Donna that. I'm her biggest fan out of anyone but I'm always being compared to her and Princess Diana. I'm recognized for being pretty, these days. Being pretty!"
"I mean I've heard worse." Static's heard his fair share of bullshit, so he held the opinions of the fine American people with low esteem. "Just got to prove them wrong, like we always do. Besides, who even cares what they think? I know that if there's anyone who deserves the mantle of Wonder Girl-"
"Womantle."
"Womantle," he corrected himself, "It's definitely you. I mean I can't imagine this team without you. Saved so many people and our butts as well plenty a times. What makes them say you're not deserving of the title anyway?"
"Well I wasn't born on Themyscira for starters. Wonder Girl is supposed to be an amazon representative, when I'm just like any other human girl across the street." Cassie's voice became a bit frail. "They really like to go into a girl's history. Tweets, my home life, even have pictures of me in middle school. Anything that can do to cast some doubt. I want to say it doesn't bother me, but it does."
Static went through the same thing. His dad always told him that's just the way things are right now, especially for people from Dakota.
"It makes me feel like the things people are saying are just the truth- I'm just a dumb kid way in over my head." Cassie said.
"That senile old boomer from GBS says a lot of things that are kind of true," Static said. "Let's face it, maybe you can be clumsy, even an airhead, that's fine.."
"You're not all that smart either, Hawkins." Cassie pouted.
"Let me finish now- that wasn't an insult.. exactly. If you were smart, you'd exploit people, use your gifts for self-gain. That's what sets you apart from the average person, we're dumb but we're.. the good kind of dumb, I guess. That kind of optimistic, hope shit. That make sense?" Static was no wordsmith, but, "You get the idea."
"Count me inspired." Cassie said flatly.
"Indeed, that is quite profound," Forager agreed innocently. "Earth would be a better place, if people cared more about optimistic hope shit."
This Forager was the most alien member of the team being from New Genesis. The girl was Halo, a girl with sepia skin and a childlike curiosity.
"Oh. Violet, Forager." Static said. "What up?" He was kind of glad they interrupted before he was about to say other things too. He was never real good at being sentimental as it was pretty embarrassing just speaking from the heart. He wanted to reassure her, but it was hard to do that in a not weird way. Cassie was the most important person to him on this team and it's been this way since they met two years back.
"I'm sorry if I'm interrupting your comradery but an old friend of mine from Happy Harbor has come to visit." Violet said.
"What? Right now?" Virgil paused his game. Not really in the mood for a fan greet, and he wasn't exactly doing hero work for the love of the people. At least, that's what he told himself.
She explained, "He happened to be in town and wanted to drop by before going home. Said he's your superfan, Static."
"This guy cool or are you just trying to be nice?" Even if it was her friend, that doesn't make them his. Cassie gave his arm a light nudge. He took the hint to listen to Halo who has been feeling the aster for the past few weeks, so now was the time to do her a favor. "I mean, yeah let's go then. I'm aching to meet dedicated fans."
"Ecstatic even?" Cassie said. She seemed completely unashamed of what she just said as she stood up. As much as he relied on her, that girl honestly was more of a physical pain to him than anyone else, and he fought criminals weekly. She was shamelessly proud of her groaners. "I'm going to do a little cardio and hit the shower. Play nice, you two."
Cassie was always there to reign him in a bit, and that included when he was being too lazy or a big dick. A little nice fresh air couldn't hurt anyways. The nice, fresh, freezing cold air in the middle of winter. The only time that made California look like a bad place to live in, though winter basically made everywhere he went look ugly. He forced a smile. Best to get this over with.
"Splendid!" Violet exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
Virgil eyed Cassie who smirked, she liked getting her way, even for petty stuff. Kind of bothers him that she is so used to that. Even so, he hoped Cassie would keep her chin up. No one can see Cassie the way he did. As long as a girl like her had his back, he knew he could handle anything.
Static put his right arm behind is back and pointed it at Cassie.
Cassie yelped as her admittedly nice butt was zapped with static electricity. Violet and Forager turned back surprised.
Their close friendship wasn't stopping him from getting payback on some occasions.

Bart and Amistad were in Jaime's room. It wasn't exactly personalized, just all the usual stuff, posters, computer, drawer, books he probably never reads, bed, mirror, workout equipment, desk, pictures.. Garfield had the idea of making Jaime's entire room blue themed, and it was predictably awful.
Jaime was taking the recent losses a lot worse than the others. He was in his room again, out of costume of course, with that weird little robot given to him by that man. He was obsessed with it. There was information in it that detailed the world's history. Well, not exactly. It retrieved information from another source. This thing is limited in it's capability though. The specifics of what happened has to be public knowledge, hence why it's from a news source. And Jaime needs to search using categories. Specifically, Skeetz needs a name, a date range, and a tag - usually Jaime uses the words died, body found, and attack. Most of what they found were clickbait articles, rumors, and sometimes just made up theories.
For obvious reasons Jaime only searched for death when it was within a week from now. This was for four reasons. Firstly it's because it's the most relevant and something he can affect directly. Two, telling a person to avoid something months from now might not do a thing or not have an impact at all. And third, Jaime was specifically told by the man who gave him this tech not to go down that rabbit hole, because if he looks up how a person dies, whether it's gruesome or not, that's the only thing Jaime is ever going to be able to think about and will overshadow anything else. Finally, the fourth reason is that the details of most deaths are kept from the public. Heroes get memorial holograms and their colleagues claim they retired quietly. No point in searching for articles that aren't there.
This android, Skeetz, belonged to the late Ted Kord's best friend, who felt guilty and left this strange thing to Jaime as an assistant. Most of its functionalities can't be accessed by anyone other than Jaime, though Jaime swore to this man he wouldn't speak about this to anyone. Jaime thought to use this so he could save lives, but it's been made apparent that this robot can make errors about the time, and doesn't have as much of the details as Jaime would have liked.
Jaime said. "It doesn't make sense. Coast City shouldn't be destroyed, and there was nothing on those people dying. This isn't right."
As bad things are getting, at least it was better than the future he left. "Take it from me, Blue. You won't be able to save everyone." The speedster from the future was kind of desensitized to the passing of heroes. Coast City definitely still exists from Skeetz' data about the future. But there wasn't anything on a fake Superman.
Jaime went silent for a moment. Usually this was because he was listening to his scarab. With the help of Skeetz, they were able to warn people ahead of time, tell their friends about disasters before they happen, and even stopped assassination attempts. Jaime and Bart have been going around keeping what they know a secret, and going to certain places on their own to ensure a person isn't killed. Bart can't say for sure about what's happening. Time can be just as big of a pain for the bad guys just as much as it is for the good guys. No use in thinking about things that can't be helped.
"Way I see it we have been doing a little too much crashing Jaime, and that's coming from me. Don't get me wrong it was good what you did, but you're spending a little too much time listening in on future news and what not, heck, just looking at today's news is depressing enough.."
"I can't stop, not now when it's not just our friends that are in danger. Skeets, this time, don't just look into any news about the Outsiders and the League. Any close blood relatives as well. Date range mark for today and seven days from now."
"Acknowledged."
"Why even bother? The thing is hardly even reliable. Remember your brilliant idea of following Cassie around all day? Don't think she appreciated it that much, if at all." While there was no news that she died, she was supposed to be attacked. That was enough for the paranoid Jaime to act even though there was a chance she simply fought them off without trouble. Who's to say it might have even been just a rumor, or a story with the wrong date attached. The news doesn't always have perfect coverage.
"I'm making every effort to protect them after learning what I let happen today." Jaime was such a stubborn fella, even when it came to feeling guilty.
"Dude, there was no way we could have prevented that, some of them we didn't even know where they were." Skeetz could only provide the information the future has, and even if it gets some things right, not all the details are there. There isn't always all the pieces when a person's body is found, like how a murder could have taken place from a different place from where it was found, or how exactly the person died. And that's not even taking into account the idea of the different possible realities, something Bart's had to think about since arriving here from the future. He's started to question if he changed his future, or if that future still exists, and he's merely moved to a different reality.
Anyhow, that stuff really didn't matter anymore. What's done is done. What matters is the now. His friend was obsessed with keeping everyone safe. His heart was in the right place and no one can take that away from him, but it wasn't healthy having the burden of everyone on his shoulders. Jaime was hurting.
"Hey you ever think that maybe Goldie only came to apologize for not being there when the original Blue Beetle died?" Bart tugged on his sleeve and shook his head. "Know what? All it's doing now is saddling you with all this unnecessary stress. You should just give the thing to Courtney and forget about it." Courtney would use it for filming on occasion. The girl just loved filming their adventures, though some people worry she might care more about her image and popularity than doing her job.
"Both of you need to lay off already," Jaime gently swung his arm away. The scarab must be agreeing with Bart. The guy really was working himself to death. "Maybe I would have accepted doing that before but I let a person go missing because I decided to take a day off."
"The only thing Skeetz gave us back then was that Doctor Palmer would leave on a plane to South America. We couldn't have known he would just completely drop off the grid."
Bart didn't know what to make of the timestream with this thing's existence either. When a crisis was averted, Skeetz wouldn't announce changes, or anything. Bart was warned about altering the course of history from Barry Allen, but Jaime wasn't doing that. This tech receives information from some kind of alternate timeline similar to this one, though there have been shown to be differences, and even irregularities or contradictions. Many heroes have apparently died twice, and there's some group called the Titans that were wiped out that Bart was apparently a member of. That was one confusing day. Doctor Palmer's separation with his wife seemed to be the cause of him leaving, both in this time and the other.
There was no explanation for something that's pure theory though. Which is why this thing seemed like a waste of time, no pun intended.
Skeets beeped. "Time module updating.. New information allocated from: GBS news database."
And these updates made him wonder how this thing really functions. Where the information is retrieved and how. It must have extremely advanced tech with it's size and still being able to connect with something essentially outside the fabric of time and space. He whined, "Man this thing is such a headache. Jaime, can we please,"
Jaime raised his finger to his lips and nose. "I need to hear this."
Bart was getting irritated with being ignored by a person he's considered his best friend. No matter how many times he tells him it just isn't worth the hassle, Jaime calls him out and they continue going in circles.
"Blue, you see this kid here?" Amistad has been wandering about the room. He was smart for his age to an extraordinary degree, and he's already able to speak a couple words though he gets very shy when the mom isn't around. He was also very curious about his surroundings. He blinked at Skeets, tapping his little finger on it. "If the Reach had gotten their way, I have a hunch he wouldn't have it as good as he does now." Bart heard stories about him in fact, back in the old future. The son of Rocket was fixated on living up to his mother, and died brutally in a last stand trying to fight The Reach. "He gets to grow up with his mom because we saved Earth. It's fine to feel a little guilty about who we leave behind, but don't forget the good you've done too."
Those are the stories Amistad wants. At least, that's what he figured. Bart couldn't really tell. The young Amistad was always requesting his caregivers to tell stories. Not just bedtime fairy tales, but about the world and what they were trying to do. Though Amistad wasn't the best at remembering anything. Amistad listens but doesn't retain what isn't relevant, hence why Jaime just kind of let him wander around and is pretty lenient about him listening in, not like Amistad could convey what was being said here.
"Yeah I've heard this one already but thanks for the attempt at pep talk." Words just won't reach him. "I have to do this. From the start I've made it my mission to save lives."
"And the only thing that matters is the mission right?" Bart smirked. "Look how that turned out for Bats and tell me if he lived out a long, happy life." The most miserable person on Earth was one of the greatest heroes of Earth.
The little robot projected a 3D holographic screen, showing a camera feed of a friend bleeding in the snow. It was a good thing Amistad was preoccupied with Jaime's drawer. They were treated to a brutal image, seemingly the last moments of that person's life. What was there was hard to make out, both because of the room's lighting, and the quality of the video clip. Bart and Jaime looked at each other with uncertainty.

They made their way outside. He didn't talk much to Violet often, not out of a dislike, he just wasn't a really good influence, plus, they didn't have much in common. Same reason he didn't talk to the Markarian shorty either.
"Why isn't Forager coming along? Doesn't he know the guy too?" Static asked.
"My friend Eddie asked only that you come," Violet said. "He says he feels.. awkward around Forager."
"I get it." Virgil couldn't find it in him to be alone with the chatterbug for more than five minutes.
It was the middle of winter but it never snowed here in Los Angeles, even though it's nothing compared to Dakota's cold, he must have gotten to the warmth as this was enough to make him feel chilly. He much preferred Hollywood to the awful mess that was his hometown Dakota. The Premiere Building was his real home. Been that way since he started being an Outsider.
Virgil wore his usual clothes, black hoodie, blue vest, though he feels it's getting a bit tight on him because of how much he's been bulking up. He was getting taller too, all from his dad's side. He never really uses his new boyish charm to hit on girls like Beast Boy or Nightwing did, though even when he did, he often came on a little strong. Celia could testify to that. His mentor ragged on and teased him about how he should get a girl already before he couldn't enjoy his youth, but it was hard for him. Maybe he was just looking too hard, or didn't like the idea of commitment.
With everything going on right now, maybe it was a good thing he didn't have one. Can't hurt his girlfriend if he didn't have one. He felt really pathetic, even without saying that out loud it was kind of sad.
"I'm sorry for asking, but, could you tell me about what happened in Coast City? Violet asked. "Artemis won't talk to me about it."
Must be a touchy subject. While the younger Outsiders didn't go, she and a few of the more older members went.
"Man, I can only tell you what I heard on the news and from what I heard from the gang. Coast City was attacked by some group called the Mongul Corps. Well, it's a little more complicated than that. There was that business with that fake Superman first. The real Superman was actually missing, he was out of commission because of something called the Black Mercy. After a couple days of the fake wreaking havoc and making us think Superman went crazy, that's when the bombs fell. League came in to save what was left. Rest is history."
Violet looked down dejected but kept walking. Maybe he shouldn't have told her. "What can you tell me about this Mongul?"
"You must have heard of Sinestro right? A Green Lantern gone rogue- formed his own group.." His mentor's ex-wife told Virgil a bit about the Lanterns before. Even though they are separated, Jeff still got along with her. She was the sister of the Green Lantern John Stewart, so she knew quite a bit of history about them. "Well turns out his fear doesn't exactly inspire as much loyalty as he had hoped, who could have seen that coming.. His Sinestro Corps splintered into two groups. Mongul became the head of this new group, and somehow they were even worse than the ones that came before. Called themselves the Mongul Corps, real creative energy with that name."
"The Justice League stopped the Mongul Corps, correct?"
"I dunnof or sure. You know how it is with heroes letting the bad guys get away - odds are at least a couple of them slipped out before the counterattack."
"And the fake Superman, is he gone as well?"
"He definitely escaped, news saw him leaving earth, but apparently he was beaten. No idea how anyone could take Superman except evil, but, Lightning told me he was defeated." A good thing too. Someone with as much power as Superman would prove to be a big problem. "What got you curious about all this Lantern stuff?"
"Terra. For a long time she has been obsessed with the Green Lanterns and the Sinestro Corps, well, more so with the tale of Kyle Rayner." Violet sighed. "I only hope they are able to find love and redemption in the same way the ones in her story did."
"Oh. That." A lot of girls over romanticize these two, Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu abandoned their duty to their respective Corps for the sake of love. He was about to explain a much different interpretation of it. How it was really about two selfish people rather than some tripe about star-crossed lovers, though, it made him think that maybe it was his mentor Jefferson that misunderstood. At the end of the day though, Kyle Rayner left his post, and for that he is now a criminal. Made some sense for Tara to take a liking to that story, having walked away from the Shadows herself.
"He should be in there." Violet pointed at a the family restaurant.
As they made their way through the rather small, vacant parking lot, they were met with a young man in a hoodie, flanked by two others.
"Oh, Eddie!" Violet said, surprised. "It's been too long. I've brought your favorite Outsider, like you asked."
This Eddie guy smiled back, but it wasn't the friendly 'autograph, please' kind of smile. His sneer seemed very familiar.
Static raised his arm before Violet so she wouldn't go further. "Static? What's wrong?" Violet asked.
"Thanks for coming out Violet. I'm real lucky you're still that sweet, oblivious little girl." Eddie said. Static noticed the others pulling out knives, as well as a person approaching the two heroes from behind with a bandanna covering his mouth. "Seen a ghost, Static?"
"Sure feels like it." He said. Static wasn't intimidated in the least. "Honestly surprised you didn't end up dead in a ditch somewhere."
"Yeah. He expected you might think that. But, sorry to disappoint. One you're thinking of is my brother." This Eddie guy resembled that asshat. One of those loser gangsters from Dakota that liked to mess with Virgil, though Virgil was far from the only person that guy terrorized.
"What is it you want?" Static asked. Violet looked confused. "Assume you're no fan."
"People have been saying the hometown hero is coming back into town," Eddie said. "Thing is, you're not exactly wanted back by everyone, buddy. So, we just wanted to ask you about that." The only people he's told about going home is his team. His old buddy Felix as well, but that was just a few hours ago.
"Huh. You know what's kind of sad? I don't even know what your brother's name even is. Didn't make much of an impression outside of being a creep." Back in Dakota, Hawkins stood up to bullies, and this guy's brother was one of them. Some days Virgil came out on top, but every now and then, they would get the drop on him. Held him down, robbed him of his money, did all kinds of shit to him and many others. He always needed to look over his shoulder whenever he walked home from school. "I have to ask. Is being a two-bit wannabe gangster something that runs in the family?"
"That's rich coming from the wannabe hero. Deep down you're nothing more than a thug from Dakota, everyone knows it," Eddie said. "Without your powers you'd be no one. My bro figured this would be the easiest way for me to prove myself."
Back in Dakota, it was real rough. Virg always acted big to make up for weakness. But Virgil was younger, then. He was stronger now. "Are you friends with this guy, Violet?" Violet looked guilty. "Not anymore right? Good. Not likely I'll hold back. A real shame you came all this way from little Happy Harbor to start a life of crime, just to have all of it end here."
"Don't talk like you know me darkie." He really was just like his douche brother, with the big talk, and that scrawny, lean stature. "Fuck him up!"
Virgil used his powers. A white beam emit from his fingerprints, and using the precision skills he picked up from training, he disarmed them. Their knives flew up into the sky and scattered in different directions. Static held his hands up together taking aim as some out of control bolts raged on the ground. His clothes and hair moved from the power.
That didn't seem to shake Eddie, much less impress him. "Like I said. You're a no one without your powers boy."
Static took that as a challenge and powered down. He breathed in and raised his fists, readying up. This guy should learn his muscles aren't just for show. He realized Violet wasn't readying up or using her powers. "Hey, you gonna help out here Vy?"
"I can't fight kids.." For crying out.. they were teenagers their age at the least. With knives too! He exhaled out his nostrils. He was going to have to handle this himself.
Violet refuses to use her powers against civilians. Just one of her noble qualities that kind of sucks for the people she's fighting with. It never sat right with Virgil that the civilians were turning on them, but like Violet, he wouldn't lay his hand on them or anything like that. But these bitch boys are clearly not worth protecting, no matter how you try to spin it.
The one in the back made the move first, so that's who Static socked in the mouth. There was some blood on his fist. He was happy with that. The other rushed him, Static had the size and weight advantage these days and pushed him off. He grabbed Eddie and threw him into his friend. They bumped into each other's heads disorienting them.
The fourth went after Virgil, swinging wide and missing twice. Static was caught from behind by the mook that might have lost a tooth. He gave Static some jabs into the abdomen and Static returned the gift with an elbow into his jaw and punching him right in the gut, making him keel over.
Virgil punched Eddie so hard his head swung back, again his head hit the same guy, this time it was the back of his head to the front of his. They both fell over. Now only one stood while the others were trying to get to their feet, disoriented.
"We should run while they're down!" Violet said, pulling on him.
"No way I'm letting them think they've won." Thanks to training with the best in the world, Virgil now has superior physicality, allowing him to dominate even the toughest crooks and was only getting stronger, though he was no Kryptonian, he was still able to trade blows with most metas now. Sending in these small fry said a lot about how much people underestimate him even now. Guys like Eddie needed to understand he was a speck of shit, especially after that shit eating grin.
He rushed the one standing while he was still all by his lonesome. Virgil wasn't the most graceful fighter, but Black Canary herself would've admitted that leg sweep was fire. Guy's head was rocked into the concrete, knocking him out instantly. He took one of them by the head and started beating his face in without holding anything back. This kid was going to be ugly for about a week because of the future bruising. Eddie tried to help his buddy, but Static elbowed him in the side of his head for his troubles while trying to pry Static off of him. Eddie went completely limp from the elbow and collapsed face first on the ground.
Static noticed the fourth that had his noggin knocked twice with Eddie's was fleeing. Virgil ignored him and decided to smash this last one's face in for what he tried to pull here, send the rest of them a message that jumping him was a big mistake He continued pummeling for another ten seconds, forcing him up by his shirt with his left hand and wailing on him with his right.
The last one uttered one last profanity he would hear on a common basis. Virgil scoffed like he expected it and raised his arm.
The sound of electricity was so damn satisfying, even still. He could feel the power sparking in his hands. Static readied a finishing blow while fresh blood spilled out from this guy's mouth and onto the concrete.
"Static! He's had enough!" Violet stopped him as he readied a stream of electricity in his hand. Not exactly pleasant to watch Static use his powers, especially on the untrained. It's worse than seeing a cop taser some poor sap. He came to his senses, and the flow of electricity started to dissipate. Virgil looked around to see civilian onlookers from the nearby restaurant that came out to see the commotion. There were looks of horror and murmuring. Maybe he went too far. The weird thing is, Static didn't much care that they did.

Author's Note: Hiya. I'm just going to try to pump these out without much quality control. Love writing this but I'm too busy to edit these days. A lot of the lore, history, and characters are going to be wildly different here, as you can tell.
Thanks for the review, shezow fan. Thanks also to my followers that probably want their usernames kept private.
