Chapter 7: Friendships, Feuds and Forgiveness

Snoopy was still walking in the woods, still feeling sad and lost, when he spotted the cabin. After getting the tears out of his eyes, he then noticed the smoke coming from the chimney was purple and green. "Barney?" He hoped his friend was in there. He made it to the door and entered. Snoopy gasped happily to find Barney, sweeping the floor with his tail. "HEY!" the beagle rushed over to hug him.

"Snoopy!" Barney exclaimed, hugging the beagle. "Where were you?"

Snoopy then mimed everything to his friend. "Good to know you're safe, Snoopy. Where're the others?"

"I have no idea!" Snoopy exclaimed.

"Don't worry. We'll find them." Barney reassured.

"So, how did you get here?" wondered Snoopy.

"I found this place, with the help of woodland critters."

"Sounds like something out of Sally's books. I'm surprised."

"You and me both."

Later that night, Barney and Snoopy were getting ready for bed. "Thank goodness you found this place. It's so cozy." Snoopy smiled before remembering about Woodstock. "I miss Woodstock though."

"Don't worry. We'll find him." Barney smiled. "Hopefully we'll feel much better after a good night's sleep."

"I hope so." Snoopy sniffled before rolling out his sleeping bag.

"Want anything to eat?"

"Oh you know it! It'll be easier to find Woodstock, after a good meal and a restful slumber."

Barney then walked to the oven and pulled out a tray of chocolate chip cookies. "I made your favorite." Barney smiled.

Snoopy wagged his tail in excitement. "You always know what I like!" Snoopy smiled.

"Of course. We live under the same roof."

"True. Hey Barney, not to be rude, but got any-"

Barney pulled out a carton of milk. "Yes I do."

"Now we're talking. Maybe the nice woodland critters would like some, too."

After eating and sharing some of the cookies and milk, the two finally went to sleep. But then, there was a knock on the door. Snoopy groggily got up and went to answer it. He was then face to face with the same bear that saved Barney. "Do you have the time?" the bear asked, scaring Snoopy.

"AHH!" Snoopy screamed as he shut the door. Outside, the bear screamed too and ran away, clearly scared.

Snoopy then hid under his sleeping bag, shuddering in fear.

"Oh boy...I HATE bears..." Snoopy whimpered, howling aloud.

Meanwhile, in the woods, Woodstock was shuddering too, feeling more scared than ever.

The girls were all huddled together near a fire, but when they heard a noise, they screamed. "LINUS! Where are you?! I really need you?!" Sally screamed.

"I want my mom and daddy!" Lila screamed.

"Hey troops, we gotta get a hold of ourselves!" Peppermint Patty said, hoping to help her friends.

"I WANT BJ!" cried Baby Bop, in tears.

"Shush, it's gonna be fine." Marcie reassured. "Tomorrow, we'll reunite with the boys and hopefully Snoopy and Woodstock will be with them."

"Don't forget Barney." Lucy said.

The very next day, the girls were all tired. "Well not only have we not found Big Purple, Snoopy, And Woodstock, But now we're lost as well." Peppermint Patty said.

"Exactly." Lila said, carrying a slumbering Baby Bop in her arms.

"Maybe it'd be better if our leader wasn't a D minus student!" Lucy shouted.

"Girls, let's keep ourselves together and keep moving." Heather said.

Meanwhile, Barney was doing more cleaning while Snoopy was preparing to go out to search for Woodstock.

"I'll be back in a few!" Snoopy called out, before deciding to warn Barney about the bear. "Also, there're bears in the area. Be careful!"

Barney blinked at that. "Okay. Make sure you know you're way back."

Snoopy winked at that before exiting the cabin.

Meanwhile, the boys continued on their search. "BARNEY! SNOOPY!" Kenneth called out.

"And Woodstock." Schroeder added.

"BARNEY! SNOOPY! WOODSTOCK!" shouted a few of the boys, as BJ whistled loudly.

"Great!" Carlos sighed exasperated. "Not only did we not find them, but we're lost too."

"Please, we can do this. We just need to keep ourselves together." Linus smiled.

"Wouldn't this be coming from the blanket toddler who destroyed one of my art projects?" Carlos sneered. "It took forever to build a marshmallow replica of the Empire State Building!"

"I tripped!" Linus defended himself. "Why are you still holding a grudge against me for that?"

"Guys, no fighting. Please." Juan whimpered. "I don't like it."

"Juan's right. Everyone, please calm down." Charlie Brown pleaded.

"Besides, remember that time when you tricked Franklin into thinking that there was a tiger in the treehouse?" Linus sneered back.

"You did what?" Franklin asked.

"With a costume, for proof!" Linus added.

"YOU'RE TOO LOUD!" Juan screamed.

"Says the kid whose snoring kept some of us up all night." Carlos groaned. "I've got your back, Carlitos"

"Guys, let's calm down." Shawn said, trying to cool things. "Besides, what you guys did is no worse then when Schroeder sold Kenneth's baseball bat to buy a new piano."

"Uh oh." Schroeder gulped as Kenneth glared at him.

Meanwhile, things weren't looking better for the girls side. "Lucille, next time I would appreciate it if you didn't make fun of my grades!" Peppermint Patty barked.

"Sure. You're right, Patricia." Lucy smiled, seeming to actually calm down. "After all, we have a very good leader. You're an all star athlete, great in gym, an amazing artist, have a great imagination. But there's something else...oh yes. And, YOU TRADED MY HANNAH MONTANA WIG AND AUTOGRAPHED CD TO FRIEDA FOR A STRAWNERRY ICE CREAM BAR TWO WEEKS AGO!" The girls went wide at Lucy's outburst.

"That's because...I COULDN'T STAND HEARING YOU SING BEST OF BOTH WORLDS IN THE TREEHOUSE!" Peppermint Patty screamed back.

"CAN YOU KEEP IT DOWN?!" screamed a cranky Baby Bop.

"Oh sure!" Lucy rolled her eyes. "The girl who snores like a mountain lion can't stand Miley Cyrus, who is the best singer, ever! But what I can't stand is you talking for days about pointless baseball stats, ridiculous football stats, and stupid Pokemon stats!"

"Better watch it, Lucille!" Peppermint Patty snarled.

"Or what?" Lucy snarled back.

"Or I'll just tell Min about what you really thought about her ballet recital last spring." Peppermint Patty smirked, causing Lucy to gasp.

"What did you say?" Min asked with an arched eye brow.

"I said..." Baby Bop huffed, slapping Lucy with her blankie "...KEEP IT DOWN!"

"Why aren't you napping, Baby Boppity Bop?" Peppermint Patty wondered.

"You're being too loud."

"We'll be quiet, so you can continue napping." Lucy said.

Baby Bop shrugged. "Well, I'm awake now, I wanna see what's going on."

"Okay. Now where were we? Oh yeah! Do that and I'll tell Julie about what your real thoughts were about that haircut she got last autumn!" Lucy sneered.

"Oooh. Drama." Baby Bop giggled.

"Lucille thought that your recital was not that good." Peppermint Patty smirked. The girls all gasped as Min became extremely hurt and Lucy gulped. "And she also said that the sugar plum fairy ballet costume was not cute. At all." The girls gasped again at that. "And, she thought the recital would have been better if she was in it." Min then glared at Lucy who continued to gulp.

"I've asked you to come to my dance classes a bunch of times!" Min yelled, very sad and angry. "But you never took me up on my offer!"

"Well, I would have come, but I was still kind of hurt that you didn't get the present I asked you to give me for my birthday party!" Lucy shot back

"I did! I gave you a toy hotel Tipton! Like the one from the Suite Life of Zack and Cody!" Min said.

"I wanted a present from the Suite Life on Deck!" Lucy yelled. "That's the show that is in now! The old one's not in anymore! And I thought you would know that!"

"Well I didn't." Min realized. "They both have 'Suite Life' in the title."

"Anyone else would've made the same mistake." Marcie shyly said.

"Guys, guys, no fighting. Please?" Lila asked.

"And don't even get me started on what you thought of Julie's haircut, calling it a wreck, when YOUR hair is just as bad!" Lucy shouted.

"EXCUSE ME?!" Peppermint Patty roared.

"Oh! Burn!" Sally laughed a little.

"Come on, girls, let's get away from this drama." Lila said, carrying Baby Bop away from the scene, while Sally walked besides a scared Lila.

"This is not going good." Lila gulped. "Clearly we wouldn't be having this much drama if Barney was with us."

"I doubt it." Sally said. "We're all just stretched out, because we're looking for him."

"Stressed out." Lila corrected.

"Whatever." Sally shrugged.

"Sally, can you distract Baby Bop for a few, while I try to negotiate with the girls?" asked Lila.

"Okay." Sally said, as she scooped up Baby Bop. "So, while Lila does that, are you up for a round of Mr. Knickerbocker?"

"Sure, why not?" shrugged Baby Bop.

Lila smiled a little, before walking back towards the group. "Girls-" she tried to speak.

"I gave you that football as a present! How could you lose it?!" Julie screamed at Peppermint Patty.

"It's a long story...Marcie and I were playing with it and it accidentally got stuck in a tree and we couldn't get it down." Peppermint Patty said.

"Girls, listen to-" Lila inhaled, before sighing and realizing that arguing was pointless. "Never mind."

She then walked away from the group, then smiled as she spotted a turtle. "Hello little friend. Would you mind if I followed you for a while?" Lila asked.

Meanwhile, the boys were getting worse. "YOU SOLD MY BASEBALL BAT?! TO GET A NEW PIANO?!" Kenneth yelled at Schroeder.

"I had to! It was the only way I could have my insurance pay for it after Lucy threw my old one down the sewers!" Schroeder yelled.

"I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!"

"Guys, please don't fight!" Juan gulped, before running off to hide.

The boys arguing just got worse. Charlie Brown sighed, finally having had enough. It was time to lead. "STOP IT!" Charlie Brown yelled at the top of his lungs, finally getting the boys to be quiet. "Look at us! We're tired and lost, and we all forgot what we're doing: finding Barney!" The kids felt guilty immediately. "He would not wants us fighting like this! We're friends. Friends should not fight! We're suppose to help each other."

"He's right." BJ sighed.

The boys remained quiet before Linus spoke up. "Charlie Brown is right. We shouldn't be fighting over silly stuff." Linus said, tearing up a bit.

"Exactly! So let's all just start over and start looking for Barney, Snoopy and Woodstock." Charlie Brown said, before realizing something. "Where's Juan?"

Meanwhile, Juan was walking through the woods when he spotted the cabin. He then gasped happily when he saw the color of the smoke. "Purple and green smoke? Barney's in there!" Juan smiled. "I gotta tell the others!" He then ran back, only to find himself lost. "Carlos? Shawn? Linus?" There was no answer. "Uh oh."

"What am I supposed to do?" asked Juan to himself. "Whistle! I'm supposed to whistle!" he tried to whistle, but failed. He then looked at his plastic whistle. "Oh, THAT kind of whistle."

"He has to be here somewhere!" Carlos exclaimed before they heard the whistle.

"Follow that whistle boys!" Charlie Brown said.

"There's Juan!" Carlos exclaimed, spotting his little brother. "JUAN! Where were you?"

"Hiding...from you guys...fighting." Juan said, with a small sob.

"It's okay. We kissed and made up." Schroeder said. "Expression."

"Good! Look what I found!" Juan pointed at the cabin.

"We could use that cabin as headquarters for our search party." Linus suggested.

"Look at the smoke." Juan pointed out.

"Purple and green smoke?" Charlie Brown asked.

"And..." Juan said.

"Reminds me of..." Charlie Brown began.

"BARNEY!" the boys exclaimed.

"He's alright!" BJ exclaimed.

The boys rushed to the cabin and smiled at seeing Barney simply standing around. "Oh there you are!" Barney smiled as he noticed the boys.

"BARNEY!" the boys happily exclaimed, rushing over to hug him with happy tears in their eyes.

"We thought you were a goner." Linus sniffled.

"No, not a goner. In a sticky situation though." Barney explained. "Snoopy's out looking for Woodstock, but he'll be back soon."

Meanwhile, Snoopy was out looking for Woodstock when he hear his whistle. He finally spotted his birdie friend on his wooden raft in the lake. "HEY!" Snoopy smiled.

"Are you okay?" Woodstock asked.

"Just peachy. Come on! Let's get you to dry land!" Snoopy insisted.

Meanwhile, Lila followed the turtle, playing with him until she realized she got lost. "Uh oh." Lila gulped.

The girls continued to argue before Heather, on the verge of tears, finally had enough. "STOP IT!" Heather screamed at the top of her lungs, making the girls stop in place. Their eyes went wide, knowing that Heather is usually sweet and rarely gets angry. "Look at us! We're fighting with each other! You girls got so caught up in your petty slights that you forgot why we left the race: TO FIND BARNEY!" The girls then frowned, finally remembering about Barney, feeling incredibly guilty. "He would not love to see us fight. Not with all the stuff he taught us, and the best fact: he's our very best friend." She then began to sob, feeling extremely sad.

"REMEMBER WHAT HE TAUGHT US!" Heather added, in between sobbing.

The girls became extremely sad themselves before Kathy finally spoke up. "He taught me that presents aren't the most important thing in a birthday party." Kathy said.

"He taught me that sharing is caring." Lucy croaked.

"Thank you for chiming in, Kathy and Lucy. Anyone else?" Heather asked.

"He taught us that saying 'be careful' means I love you." Min croaked.

"He taught us that every family is different, and very special." Heather whimpered.

"He taught me not to be afraid of the doctor." Marcie croaked.

"He taught us to love ourselves, no matter what, because we're special." Peppermint Patty cried loudly.

"Can someone get this girl some tissues?" asked Lucy. "Oh forget it, we all need a good, long cry."

The girls, minus Lila, Sally, and Baby Bop, finally broke down and sobbed their hearts out. It was awhile before they finally collected themselves. "We shouldn't be fighting with each other." Tosha said, wiping her tears.

"That's right. You know what? Marcie, hand me the ballots!" Peppermint Patty ordered. Marcie did just that. The tomboy threw the ballets out into the air, much to most of her friends' shock.

"On top of that, I hearby resign as leader!" Peppermint Patty added.

"WHAT?!" everyone asked.

"It's too much, if it's just gonna lead to brawls." Patty shrugged.

"But then who'll be leader?" Sally pointed out. Everyone then stared at Heather, who was finally collecting herself, and smiled.

"All in favor of Heather?" Kathy asked. The girls, minus Lila, raised their hands.

"Congratulations Heather!" Peppermint Patty smiled. "You're the new leader."

"I am?" Heather asked.

"You helped us remember what we were doing." Min smiled. "And you're more kinder and sweeter. You're the best person for this."

"It's 'kinder and sweeter', but shucks. You're flattering me." Heather blushed a little. "So, where do we start looking?"

"Maybe we should find Baby Bop, Sally, and Lila first?" Julie asked.

"Don't worry. I hear them." Patty said. "Over there."

Sure enough, Patty was right-Sally and Baby Bop were just singing and playing the Clapping Game, to pass time. "How's it going?" asked Marcie.

"Almost done..." Sally said. "One more verse."

"You girls done fighting?" asked Baby Bop.

"Yeah. Where's Lila?" asked Julie.

"I thought she was with you."

"WE thought she was with YOU TWO!" Lucy said.

Meanwhile, in the woods, Lila was cuddled up to Bugs Jr, really scared and sad. "Why did I get distracted by that turtle?" Lila asked herself. "What do I do?" Lila asked herself, before remembering something. "Hug a tree. Okay."

She then fished around her backpack before finding her whistle. Lila then blew it.

"Over there, troops!" Heather yelled, having heard the whistle. "We found her!" the girls then ran to find her.

"Yes! They're coming!" Lila smiled before falling into a bush. "OW!"

The girls then reached where they heard the whistle.

"Lila?" Heather shouted.

"Yo Lila, where are you?" Peppermint Patty asked.

"Are you sure the whistle came from here?" Lucy asked.

"We all heard it." Julie pointed out. They then saw Lila's hand pop out of a bush.

"I'm right here." Lila said.

"Lila!" the girls happily yelled as they helped their friend back up. Lila smiled and happy tears came out of her eyes before wincing in pain.

"Lila, your knee is scraped." Kathy winced.

"Quick! We need a first aid kit! Who has the first aid kit?" Lucy asked.

"First aid kit?" Patty asked Marcie, who got it out of her backpack. "Thanks, kid."

"You're welcome, Sir." Marcie smiled, as Patty put a bandage on Lila's knee.

"Be careful, Lila. You got yourself a boo-boo." Baby Bop stated, placing a few Band-Aids on Lila.

"Thanks." Lila smiled. "I'm just glad you're all not fighting with each other anymore."

"We resolved that, thanks to Heather." Patty nudged the redhead in the ribs. "She got us to realize our actions were very toxic and we needed to calm down and remember the task at hand: finding Big Purple and winning the race."

"Why thank you, Patty." Heather smiled. "You're a really good friend. You might make a good leader one day."

"Nah, you're the better leader." Peppermint Patty laughed a little.

"Now, where are the boys?" asked Lila.

"I heard a whistle, earlier. I think." Sally said. "I think it was Linus calling out for me."

The girls then continued to make their way through the woods. It wasn't long until they spotted the cabin. "Girls, look! Smoke! And look at it's color! Purple and green!" Heather smiled.

"Barney!" the girls happily realized.

"Girls, we found him!" Heather happily exclaimed.

"Last one in's a slowpoke!" Julie exclaimed, as the girls began running up to the cabin. With a giggle, Heather tapped on a window, before ushering the girls to hide below the window.

"Did anyone hear that?" Barney asked.

"Must be the girls." Linus said.

"Nice." Carlos and Schroeder giggled.

Barney then opened the door, only for the girls to embrace him in a big hug. "BARNEY!" the girls happily exclaimed.

"We found you!" Peppermint Patty said, as Lucy flung herself in his arms and the two spun around happily. "Lucille..."

Lucy's eyes went wide wen she heard that. "Glad to you're alright, Barney." Lucy smiled before noticing Schroeder. "SCHROEDER!" She then lunged at him and hugged him.

"Save me." Schroeder pleaded to Carlos.

"You're own your own, this time." Carlos teased.

"We're all happy that you're OK, Barney." Heather smiled.

"Well then..." Barney smiled.

Barney:

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands. (Hands clapping)

Just then, Snoopy came back with Woodstock. "SNOOPY! HEY!" the kids and dinos cheered.

"HEY!" Snoopy happily exclaimed.
