A/N: Frankly, I have little to say here, other than the fact that the chapter title is simply 'Clash of the Ten Thousand Warriors Part 2' in French. I opted for French since there are more than a few French Connections (pun intended) in Sailor Moon, including an entire Paris themed album. As for the title itself, I decided to keep it the same as last time because this chapter is more of the same, albeit with comparatively more action and less exposition.

Also, just to let you know I am involved in a discord called 'Moonlight Legends' which is dedicated to sharing all sorts of Sailor Moon fanworks, including other fanfics. If you would like to join so you can share your own work, get help with your current projects or just connect to other fan creators shoot me a PM and I'll send you an invite. All are welcome!

P.S. 'X' = Chi and 'Φ' = Phi

Chapter 5: Le Choc des Dix Mille Guerriers Partie 2

Kaolinite and the Witches 5 discover that they aren't the only ones capable of causing magical mayhem

A quarter of a mile East of the Circle of Serenities, Kaolinite levitated into the air and began zapping energy bolts at the surrounding Senshi. Fifteen feet beneath her, the Witches 5 had formed a ring and were following their headmistress' lead.

A ballerina Usagi deftly dodged Viluy's electrical attack, but made an odd quacking sound when a blast from Eudial's staff wrong-footed her. Kaolinite swiftly followed up with a blast of her own that was only narrowly deflected by a rapier wielding Usagi in a dark blue blazer, complete with white epaulettes and gold aiguillette.

Kaolinite took aim again but was distracted when a red flare narrowly missed her face. Scowling, she scanned the terrain for the culprit, finding a silver haired Usagi in black robes emblazoned by a yellow badger crest. The teenager took aim with her wooden wand and began to speak, but the elder magus was too quick for her, igniting her staff for the kill.

Kaolinite's attack completely missed when a blast from above disarmed her. Something zoomed past her eyeline and she was suddenly hit by another blast, this time to her stomach. She crashed to the ground, her students hurriedly attempting to help her up. Barely reaching her side, they were almost immediately sent scattering when a red sports car accelerating towards them!

Kaolinite only just managed to evade it, rolling away and within grasp of her staff.

"Huh...I was sure I'd finished you off. That'll teach me for thinking I could relax a little."

From all fours, Kaolinite looked up, only to find a twelve-year-old Usagi in a short-sleeved white blouse with a red vest and skirt.

"You little brat I...wait…You're no Senshi? How could you have attacked me up there?"

"Well, that is supposed to be a secret ...but…"

The Usagi opened up a compact mirror and muttered something as she beheld her own reflection.

"Tekumaku moonakon!"

Kaolinite blinked and suddenly the girl's clothes had morphed. Her vest and skirt had become a short red dress with a white bib-like collar, complemented by similarly white knee-high socks. More bizarrely she was sitting atop a hovering broomstick. Kaolinite's jaw had barely dropped when the little witch [Secret Witch Usagi]thrust out a finger and sent a stream of sparkles into her face. Kaolinite howled in pain as she was sent flying across the battlefield and out of sight!

Her apparent death cry was abruptly drowned out by the roar of the returning sports car as it made its way towards the other witches. It was still in motion when the passenger door opened up and a Usagi in a blue and white mod-esque mini-dress leapt out.

Mid-leap, she tapped her necklace and, with a flash, her clothes vanished! A second later, her hair turned silver and her nude body was garbed in a red and white cat suit with a diamond cut out over her chest. [Cutey Honeymoon] Channelling her momentum into a somersault, she landed directly in front of Viluy, elegantly drawing her rapier and skewering the witch.

Mimete was nearby and attempted a retaliatory blast with her staff. However, the weapon was soon wrenched from her grip when a black wire attached to a microphone wrapped around the shaft. The staff clattered at the feet of a Usagi who looked like a veritable idol.

With her heavy blue eyeshadow, knee high yellow socks, bodice tutu-esque skirt and flowy puff sleeves, she seemed primed to sing rather than fight. Mimete realised too late that for this Usagi they were one and the same thing. The idol [Creamy Mooni]sang a few melodic notes into her microphone and Mimete soon found herself breaking apart as the tune reached her ears.

Mimete's remains were unceremoniously scattered when the sports car sped through the scene en route for Eudial and Tellu. However, the two witches were ready for it this time, aiming attacks at its tyres. The pair leapt out the car's path as it momentarily spun wildly before finally coming to a screeching halt.

From the driver's door emerged a Usagi in a white tunic and cape, the red lining of the latter matching the colour of her jewelled mask. [PoitrineMoon] Eudial motioned to attack, only to scream and clasp her hand. In one swift motion, PoitrineMoon had removed the feather in her cap and tossed it like a dart, disarming the witch.

Another, positively angelic, Usagi exited from the passenger door, this one wearing a stunning white wedding dress adorned with peach coloured flowers. [MoonPeach] She noticed Tellu snaking a pair of thorny vines towards her just in time and grasped her bouquet of red and white roses to her chest. The bouquet lit up and disintegrated the vines, causing Tellu to recoil in pain.

MoonPeach followed up by brandishing the ring on her left hand, which emitted a ruby light. Within a second, a rod tipped with a massive crystal materialised from the illumination. With far less fanfare, PoitrineMoon removed a wand-like device from the holster on her belt, pulling on the tip to fully extend the shaft of the weapon. In unison the masked beauty and veiled bride targeted the witches who were blasted clear across the battlefield!

A moment later, Secret Witch Usagi, Creamy Mooni and Cutey Honeymoon had re-joined them by the car when something exploded close by! The quintet began evading a hail of blasts from two fronts, a task made more difficult by the smokescreen the explosions were creating.

In perfect synchrony, Cyprine and Ptilol cackled from their parallel positions across the nearby terrain. That was until, in equal synchrony, they were both tackled to the ground from behind.

Their assailants were a pair of blonde and silver haired Usagis in long gloves and leg-warmers. The latter sported a black cropped top and shorts, with pale pink ruffles accenting parts of her outfit. [BlackMoonCure] The former wore a short white dress with similar ruffles, albeit in pale blue. [WhiteMoonCure]

"Where'd you two…" began Cyprine.

"…come from?" finished Ptilol.

"The car," responded WhiteMoonCure, deducing the other half of the question.

Ptilol struggled against her grip "But how'd you…"

"…all fit? " grunted Cyprine.

The BlackMoonCure smirked. "Magic."

Ptilol managed to break free and kick out WhiteMoonCure, buying her time to get airborne. Cyprine meanwhile broke BlackMoonCure's grip when an ominous roar from within the smoke screen distracted the Senshi. Cyprine also took to the air and zeroed in on her sister. However, their assailants were too quick for them.

In a few leaps and somersaults, the duo had landed on the roof of the car and joined their hands. Black and white lightning crackled around them as they raised their free hands skywards.

"Sailor Planet Attack!"

A corkscrew composed of ebony and ivory bolts was unleashed into the sky!

"Cyrpine!" screamed Ptilol. She'd moved just in time to avoid the attack but her twin hadn't been so swift.

Her remains had barely dissipated when another roar resounded from within the smoke. The BlackMoonCure and WhiteMoonCure leapt to the side as a claw swiped at the air they had occupied mere seconds earlier.

They'd barely landed when they were wrapped in thick green vines. The quintet of Usagis they'd rescued had also been ensnared, all eight of them being drawn towards what could only have been Tellu.

Except she had transformed into a hideous fanged creature with vine-like tentacles in place of her limbs. Another roar drew their collective attentions to Eudial, who now resembled a gorgon-esque behemoth.

Finally, a third utterly indescribable monstrosity appeared. "Take them!" gurgled Kaolinite!

At the elder magus's order, Eudial rushed forth! Then stopped.

With a roar, Eudial recoiled in pain from the barrage of pink arrows that had struck each of the snakes adorning her head.

"Who dares! "shrieked Kaolinite.

Similar arrows ripped through the vines, freeing the ensnared Senshi.

"I dare."

As the smoke cleared, Kaolinite's glowing eyes fixed upon another Usagi standing on the car roof, this one in a puffy pink dress and holding a longbow made from a tall thorny rose stem, the flower itself crowning the top of the weapon. [Sailor Moondoka]

Kaolinite hurled her entire mass at the young Senshi, who fired another arrow straight into the sky where it split into dozens of shafts. The shafts rained down upon all three monsters and vanquished them all at once!

"Wow!" panted, Sailor Moondoka. "These witches are way easier to deal with than the ones back home!"

She and her rescued comrades were so delighted by their victory that none of them noticed the flaming eyeball flying high above them…

"Basically we need to alter the search conditions."

"We need Sailor Moons with as similar magical frequencies to Sailor Cosmos as possible."

"Or at least ones who're in the middle of performing their healing techniques"

"Right. But we also need to screen out anyone nasty, like that Usagi who tried to kill Saban Moon."

"And elderly people."

"And Usagis, Serena's, whatever, who aren't fighters at all."

"And no more little kids."

"And , we need to get the willing recruits transported directly to Sailor Cosmos's universe. The space station is already pretty packed."

"And most important of all, we absolutely need really powerful Sailor Moons to come along because our abilities are going to be handicapped until that portal closes."

Sailor Saturn gave Usagi0 and Serena an utterly withering look before she replied, her cybernetic arm whirring as she signed out the words, jiggling the wires protruding from it into the computer terminal.

As Saturn continued to sign away, Usagi0's face fell more and more.

"Er, my Sailor Saturn isn't mute so I don't know any sign language. Care to clue me in?"

"Well," began Usagi0 to Serena, "The good news is that, before she needed to power down, Mercury already set the search parameters to omit all the people we don't want. But, you know, all machines have glitches and we're already asking a lot from the probes and transporter. It's a safe bet we won't be getting any more nasty Sailor Moons though. I mean, if they're bad guys, why would they want to come and risk their lives anyway?"

Serena narrowed her eyes. "And what about the bad news?"

"The bad news is that Saturn isn't sure if she can send everyone directly to Sailor Cosmos's universe," explained Usagi0. "It's tricky at the best of times, and Saturn isn't as familiar with this technology as Mercury is."

"You don't need to worry." All three of them turned towards the doorway. As the door finished sliding open, Sailor Pluto, her belt of pocket watches jangling, entered the room. "Me and my little friend here can help you."

"ChibiChibi!" A toddler with fuschia hair topped by twin, heart shaped, buns poked her head around Sailor Pluto's leg.

Within a nearby crater, three figures were huddled around crystal clear projections of the recovering Senshi.

"Do your best to kill the pink one," ordered Zirconia. Xenotime and Zeolite nodded and began to move off.

But just as Zircon began to fly away, a pint-sized Usagi resembling a fairy [Fairy Moon] collided with it, the gold dust from her wings causing the eyeball to shrivel until it went up in smoke.

"Diana'll never believe this," squeaked Fairy Moon.

"WHY YOU!" bellowed Zirconia. The wizened crone grew until she was over fifty feet tall, the 'mouth' on her robes opening wide.

Fairy Moon was momentarily frozen. Whether that was due to the dark energy charging within the 'jaws' of Zirconia's robes, or fear from being swallowed whole was unclear. Regardless, Xenotime and Zeolite smirked from the crater, delighting in the Senshi's imminent demi-

"Crystal Carrot Crusher!"

The circus twins whipped their heads towards a black haired Senshi in a white and pink uniform, rabbit heads affixed to her front bow and hair ornament. [Sailor Rabbit] Zirconia gagged and choked as something orange shot into the 'mouth' on her robes, her body reduced to a massive plume of smoke a moment later.

Concerned looks crossed the twins' faces.

"That Senshi seems pretty tough," muttered Zeolite.

"You're right," agreed Xenotime.

The pair had barely retreated a step when a bullet hit the ground around them.

"Goin' somewhere, partner?" drawled a Senshi in a silver poncho and stetson. [Cowgirl Usagi]

"We-" one of them began.

"Wasn't talkin' to either o' you."

Before either twin could react, one of them went up in smoke. A split second later, a Usagi clad in samurai armour [Samurai Moon] silently re-sheathed her katana. She turned around, receiving a salute from Cowgirl Usagi, responding with a polite bow.

The surviving twin made a run for it, stumbling in her haste. Cowgirl Usagi joined Samurai Moon's side and drew her nine-shooter. "I got 'er."

Her aim was ruined however, when a golden bolt landed a few feet in front of her. It was followed by a barrage of further bolts that forced her and the samurai to flee themselves. More volleys followed, kicking up dust and forcing them to change direction.

"Believe it or not, ChibiChibi has spatial-temporal abilities far surpassing even my own," continued Pluto, "We can help the transporter bring every Senshi who accepts the summons to Cosmos's universe. And, between the two of us, we're pretty sure we can even increase the transporter's capacity too."

"Oh awesome!" chirped Serena enthusiastically.

Saturn and Pluto both narrowed their eyes. "You…don't know what that means do you?" said the latter.

"...Nope." Serena gave an apologetic shrug and turned to Usagi0. "Do you?"

"Of course I do!" Usagi0 proclaimed, a little louder than was necessary. "But, as the princess…I think Pluto would explain it better."

Despite not speaking, Saturn's eye roll made her feelings crystal clear.

"Saturn has discovered that, even giving the transporter everything we can, it can only bring a limited number of Senshi from their universes."

"Well, how many can it bring over?" asked Usagi0.

Saturn threw out more signs.

"She says that it depends on the physical size and power level of a Senshi," explained Pluto. "The more powerful they are, the more it demands from the transporter. She's already attempted to transport one incredibly powerful Senshi over five hours ago, and that ate up a lot of power in and of itself. And there is still no sign of them."

"Was it another Sailor Cosmos?" Serena asked hopefully.

Saturn actually laughed.

"Another Sailor Cosmos is too powerful for ten of our transporters to handle," explained Sailor Pluto. "Saturn has conferred with Mercury and adjusted the search parameters to find Senshi within a certain size, age and power range. Accounting for that Senshi who has yet to appear, they estimate we'll have approximately five thousand troops if everything goes well."

"What about pulling out Senshi in the middle of their healing moves?" asked Serena.

"Sorry," apologised Pluto, "it will be pure luck if you get even one of those, most likely the result of a glitch. The transporter almost always zeroes in on Senshi at magically and temporally stable points in their universe. That's why most of the recruits have been untransformed and next to none of them have been mid-attack."

"Alright then, how about finding Senshi with similar magical frequencies?" inquired Usagi0. "Or frequencies similar to this or Cosmos's universes at least?"

"Our ability to detect a universe's magical frequency is limited, let alone compare and contrast them across different universes." Pluto gave them an apologetic shrug. "Beggars can't be choosers."

By the time they realised they were being herded it was already too late. Their backs up against a crystal wall, the cowgirl and samurai simultaneously glared up at nine levitating figures lined up before them in a firing squad.

"How'd you like our little upgrade?" purred Sailor Tin-Nyanko, brandishing a glowing bracelet.

"It was a feature I was working on before my progenitor's untimely demise," said Sailor X.

"It seems Sailor Chaos has a good memory," added Sailor Mnemosyne.

And now she is a Senshi herself, she favours the Shadow Galactica highly. You know what they say about 'birds of a feather'," cawed Sailor Lead Crow.

"Too bad for you."

With Sailor Φ's final word, the Sailor Animamates and other three Senshi followed her lead in raising their forearms and unleashing a barrage of bolts from their bracelets.

But before the bolts reached the pair, a tall, muscular Usagi in red and blue Roman-esque armour appeared in front of them. In a wondrous blur of motion, she began deflecting the bolts with her own bracelets, sending them back at the Senshi.

The Shadow Galactica scattered in the air to avoid the blasts. However, Sailor X and Sailor Mnemosyne weren't fast enough, shrieking as some stray bolts sent them up in smoke.

Meanwhile, a dozen feet away, the skittish Sailor Iron Mouse, flying just a little too close to the ground, found herself receiving an almighty uppercut from one of the massive forearms of a one-eyed Usagi in a sailor's cap.

"I yam what I yam!" She said, observing the Animamate fly off into the distance, her trajectory intersecting with the silver beam a quarter of a mile away. "And she was what she was!"

Iron Mouse's remains were swiftly dispersed by Sailor Aluminum Siren who was flying up the length of the silver beam, trying desperately to shake off her pursuer.

Together, the Animamate and the Senshi flew in a coil around and around the beam, bathed in its almost blinding light.

"Stay away from me!" Siren screamed over her shoulder.

"Get out of the way!"

At Chaos's mental command, Siren realised her flight path had brought her dangerously close to her creator's black energy bolts. The Animamate abruptly swerved, and was immediately ensnared in the clutches of her stalker.

"So many delicious looking victims. It's enough to make you vant to sing." Aluminium Siren's eyes widened in horror within the black folds the pale Usagi's cape. "That is until you realise they don't last. Then you just want to..."

Siren screamed as fangs punctured her neck.

"...Precisely." The vampire handwaved smoke out of her face and sighed. "Vat a nightmare..."

Not for the first time that day, MovieUsagi wondered if she was experiencing a nightmare. But even her worst nightmares were nothing like this.

The cut and thrust of dozens of battles.

The wicked face of Sailor Chaos.

The dark void all around them.

The latter was what truly horrified her. She'd seen visions of what Chaos had done to bring the universe to this point. But the death and devastation was somehow less terrible than the vast nothingness left in its wake. It was as if the entire universe had been consumed by a gigantic black hole.

No. Not the entire universe.

There was still a tiny amount of life out there. A few stray survivors who, once upon a time, might've wanted to go shopping. Or see a movie. Or dealt with bratty little kids tagging along on dates.

Not anymore though.

Those tiny, mundane, experiences had been eviscerated by Chaos. And now, they'd never get them back. They wouldn't even have any children who might someday know the simple joys of such mundane things.

Not unless they won. Not unless they stopped this nightmare once and for all.

And so, from the bottom of her soul, MovieUsagi pledged to fight!

Fight for the scant survivors! Fight for whatever remained of the universe! And for the hope of what it could be!

Tapping into a well of power even she hadn't realised she possessed, MovieUsagi poured more energy into the silver beam.

Far behind her, the portal pulsed and shook, as if cheering her onwards...

A/N: With that MOST of the heavy exposition is out of the way!

Now, let's talk a little bit about that opening action scene with the Witches 5. Believe it or not, this was the action scene that took the most time and research to write. In case the references went over your head, I pitted Kaolinite and the Witches 5 (the most explicitly magical of all these wacky magical villains) against versions of Usagi who were references to various Magical Girl (and to a lesser extent Shojo) properties.

For research, not only did I consult a Magical Girl reddit, Youtube clips documentaries and folks from discord servers who know specific Magical Girl shows, but I also watched at least the first episode or so of many of the shows I referenced, plus some I didn't wind up referencing.

All in all I watched:

Pretty Cure

Sally the Witch

W.I.T.C.H.

Jem

Winx

Steven Universe

Cardcaptor Sakura

Creamy Mami

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine

Wedding Peach

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

Cutey Honey F

The latter four were my favourites and I eventually even watched the rest of the episodes…well except for Poitrine because I couldn't find it subtitled beyond episode 2! Would highly recommend them though if you like Sailor Moon.

My aim with the Usagis who defeated the Witches 5 was to pay tribute to the Magical Girl genre and Sailor Moon's place amongst it. To this end, Kaolinite and each of the Witches 5 are defeated by Usagis who reference significant Magical Girl properties from each decade (exempting the 2020s), with the 1990s onwards properties being ones particularly influenced by Sailor Moon.

Secret Witch Usagi: This one represents the 1960s and represents both 'Himitsu no Akko-chan' 'Sally the Witch', the first magical girl manga and anime respectively.

Cutey Honeymoon: Obviously, this is a reference to the 1970s smash hit series, Cutey Honey (sometimes spelt Cutie Honey). However, I gave this Usagi the upgraded outfit specifically worn by Honey in Cutey Honey F. Not only does the white seem more fitting for Sailor Moon, but CHF was a 1990s reboot of Cutey Honey that was heavily influenced by Sailor Moon and retained anime staff from Sailor Stars.

Creamy Mooni: There were several 1980s Magical Girls to choose from. However, Studio Pierrot unquestionably revolutionised and dominated the genre and amongst their Magical Girl shows Creamy Mami was both the first and most iconic. Of course, she had to duel Mimete.

Poitrine Moon: The early 1990s tokusatsu series 'Bishoujo Kamen Poitrine' is an often overlooked influence for Sailor Moon itself, and if you watch even episode 1 you can see the similarities. So I made her the sort of 'leader' of this Senshi group.

Moon Peach: The 1990s was the only decade I referenced twice amongst this group of Senshi. This was because I felt it was appropriate to spotlight both the series that most directly influenced Sailor Moon and the series most directly influenced BY Sailor Moon. To that end 'Wedding Peach', created by a former Sailor Moon staff member, was the only logical choice.

CureMoonBlack & CureMoonWhite: Debuting in the early 2000s, Pretty Cure is perhaps the second biggest Magical Girl property in Japan. Since it centred around a dynamic duo, who better to pit against the twin Witches?

Sailor Moondoka: Madoka Magica might have only just qualified as a 2010s Magical Girl anime but its influence is undeniable. It basically deconstructed everything Sailor Moon instituted.

Revolutionary Girl Usagi, Princess Tusagi, Hufflepuff Usagi: I deliberately left these guys unnamed in this chapter as I thought it would be funnier like that. I couldn't NOT include them in the Witches 5 section though. Harry Potter is the most famous magical property on Earth and Revolutionary Girl Utena and Princess Tutu are perhaps the most famous properties to spin-out of Sailor Moon, being products of Sailor Moon staff members.

Fairy Moon

Sailor Rabbit

Cowgirl Usagi

Samurai Moon

Wonder Moon: Not named, along with a few others, as I found it would ruin the gag to name them in scenes they appeared. I gave her a place of prominence since Sailor Moon is in many ways the 'Wonder Woman' of Japan.

Popeye the Sailor Senshi

Countess Serenity: No fan art that fits my description, so just envision Usagi dressed like this.
