19: Attack Of The Frieza Force Soldiers

The attack was soon full-scale in moments. Frieza Force soldiers zoned in on the streets in gleeful anarchy. Screams danced through the air, and everyone shoved each other in attempts to get away from the alien onslaught. The attacking force was merciless and relentless. They fired their blasts at cars and buildings whilst laughing wickedly. It had been some time since Frieza had plotted an attack on West City of this scale, so among fear, shock and confusion danced about.

Turles watched the rampage from his ship high in the sky. His hands were clasped loosely behind his back, and his dark, menacing eyes traced over each surface. Impatience flared within his chest. He strongly desired the female Saiyan. Since the entire Saiyan race was virtually wiped out, a female was needed to bring the race back up. She was the key. And Kakarot was keeping her all to himself. He didn't understand how important she was. Why didn't he understand that with her, they could rebuild the race that was taken from them? He grinned privately to himself at the image that came into his head. Of him alone reviving the Saiyan race and being the ultimate ruler of the expanding universe.

In due time, Kakarot, I will have that female Saiyan you insist on keeping from me. I will rebuild the Saiyan race. And Earth will be the first planet I destroy with my new army.

...

"Earth is under attack!?" Goku shouted, his eyes wider than saucers.

"Yes, now you need to get here! Hurry!" Bulma replied through the green sphere of Whis's staff, her voice somewhat staticky. Then she disappeared without another word, leaving the three Saiyans, the Namekian, the God and the Angel standing in utter silence on Beerus's home planet, each of them contemplating their next moves.

Goku's mind raced. Turles! It has to be him! He's relentless. We can't let him get Basil. "Come on, Vegeta, we gotta go."

"Bulma said the Earth was under attack." Vegeta began. "But I'm pretty sure Turles only had six members of his little team, himself included. That's hardly enough for a full-scale invasion. Did he team up with someone?"

"Probably." Piccolo said with a heavy sigh. "He must have known that he couldn't attempt to take Basil with just his small numbered crew."

"But who did he partner with, then?" Goku asked, scratching the back of his head.

"Turles is a bad guy, right?" Basil asked as she buried herself in Piccolo's long white cape.

"Yes, a bad guy who wants to take you." Vegeta grumbled, then turned to Whis. "Can you hold her here until Kakarot and I clear this mess up? She'll just get in the way."

"Don't think you can just pass her off onto me." Beerus snapped. "I'm a destroyer God, not a babysitter."

"This is important, Lord Beerus. If he takes her, he'll use her to make more Saiyans." Goku said, panic painted onto his face. "She needs to stay out of his sight. She'll be safe here, though. I don't think Turles knows about you, and I doubt he would even know how to get to this planet."

"I wanna go." Basil said happily, leaping out of Piccolo's cape with a wide smile adorned on her face. "I wanna fight Turles with you guys."

"It's too dangerous." Goku said, placing a hand on Vegeta's shoulder. "Just stay here. We'll be back once everything is taken care of." He placed two fingers onto his forehead, and the two Saiyans vanished into thin air in the blink of an eye.

Basil gaped at the spot where they had been moments before, blinking rapidly. "W...what? Where did they go?"

"It's called Instant Transmission." Piccolo explained. "Goku can basically teleport to any location he's been to before, as long as he knows someone in that location."

"I wanna do that!" Basil beamed. "Man, Goku and Vegeta have all the fun."

"Alright, Whis, you're on the clock." Beerus said, spinning around on his heels, heading towards the large and very much dead tree. "I'm taking a nap. Keep her quiet, will you?"

"My Lord, aren't you at all concerned with what's happening on Earth?" Whis asked after him.

"I'm sure the two Saiyans can handle it perfectly fine." Beerus replied with a wave of his hand.

"I wanna go with them." Basil stated firmly, stomping her foot. "I can fight...kinda. I'll just use the skills that Goku taught me."

"Those won't be enough, trust me." Piccolo said. "Turles is powerful and merciless. He won't hesitate to kill anything in his path. Innocent or not."

Basil slouched. She didn't understand. Vegeta had said that Saiyans were bred for fighting. Bred for combat. If that was true, why weren't they letting her fight? She wanted to help, but everyone kept saying it was too dangerous. She understood that she was inexperienced, but what she didn't understand was that she couldn't help. Sure, she may not be very useful, but she at least wanted to try. To be able to prove that she very well could handle herself. She kept herself alive after Planet Vegeta was destroyed. If she could do that, why couldn't she defend herself against this Turles, who wanted to "take her," as Goku had put it.

Am I that weak? Do they not want me fighting alongside them out of fear that I'll get myself killed? What can I do to change their minds? I know I'm nowhere near as strong as Goku and Vegeta, but I want to test what strength I do have. Maybe it will be enough to stop Turles and his friends.

While Whis and Piccolo spoke amongst themselves, Basil held two fingers up to her forehead like she had seen Goku do. Then she placed them against her forehead, closing her eyes. Seconds passed. Then those seconds turned to a whole minute. Basil opened her eyes, and found that she hadn't gone anywhere. "Aw, it didn't work?"

Piccolo turned to face her, eyebrows raised in confusion. "What didn't work?"

"My Instant Transmission thing. It didn't work like it did for Goku." Basil pouted, her tail limp at her feet.

Piccolo sighed. "Let's have a talk."
