(Invader - Jim Johnston)
Nakano: The vast ocean has two different sides. One side contains the darkest secrets that has yet to be discovered, the other side contains exotic life we've never seen on the surface.
Shadow: And one of them are the mythological Mermaids. And today's combatants has the traits, beauty and power of one.
Nakano: Misty, the Gym Leader of Cerulean City and 4th Sensational Sister.
Shadow: And Ranamon, the Warrior of Water Digimon. She's Nakano and I'm Shadow.
Nakano: And it's our job to analyze their weapons armor and skills to find who would win... a DEATH BATTLE.
Misty goes Sensational for DEATH BATTLE
(Pokemon Theme Song - Pokemon)
Nakano: Ash Ketchum always wanted to be the very best, to catch Pokemon and become a Champion. But things didn't start out that way. See, when he and Pikachu were being chased by a flock of Spearows, he bumped into a girl named Misty. He was forced to "borrow" her bike in an attempt to escape.
Shadow: We all know were this is gonna goes: Pikachu saves Ash from the flock of Spearows, Ash saw Ho-Oh, Misty caught up to him and demanded that he pays for her and damaged bike, Team Rocket appeared, blah blah, blah. Turns out, Misty has three other sisters, Daisy, Lily and Violet who are called the Three Sensational Sisters, and Misty was being left out so she joined Ash and Brock on an adventure and make a name for herself.
Nakano: But first, she needed her most trusted Pokemon for the job. For this battle we're only sticking to the canon anime and the current Pokemon she is carrying, so any Pokemon in training or has been released will not be included.
Staryu
Bubblebeam
Rapid Spin
Double Edge
Swift
Water Gun
Shadow: First up is Staryu. This Water-Type Pokemon is Misty's favorite and most used fighter. Its attacks Swift launches star projects which never misses. The Bubblebeam can fire a co which lower's an opponent's speed. And the Rapid Spin can, well, make the user spin evry fast for a fast attack
Nakano: Water Gun squirts out a large water ball and the Double Edge allows Staryu to tackle an opponent at the risk of taking 1/4 recoil damage.
Psyduck
Psychic
Confusion
Water Gun
Disable
Shadow: Then there's Psyduck. And fun fact, Misty didn't capture this golden duck in the wild. Misty accidentally fell when she tripped on a rock and one of her Pokeballs rolled over to Psyduck, who allowed himself to be captured. Also, Pysduck always has a constant headache and not exactly the brightest tool in the shed in Misty's team.
Popup: Ironically despite being a Water-Type, Pysduck has hydrophobia and can't swim.
Nakano: But that doesn't mean his attack are just as strong. Confusion delivers a powerful mental and physical attack with a chance to confuse your target.
Shaodw: And apparently whenever Psyduck's gets more severe, he can do crazy shit like Pyshic and Disable. Psychic is a powerful telekinetic attack that lowers an opponent's Special Defense and Disable nullifies the victim's ability to use the same attack for several turns.
Corsola
Spike Cannon
Recover
Mirror Coat
Nakano: Corsola is Misty's most recent Pokemon in the Alola Region. Corsola's Mirror Coat could reflect special attacks back at the sender. Recover can restore half of his health and Spike Cannon allows it to fire spikes two to five times in a row.
Gyarados
Hydro Pump
Flamethrower
Whirlpool
Crunch
Hyper Beam
Rain Dance
Hurricane
Mega Gyarados
Shadow: But if you wanna talk about a Pokemon with size and intimidation, then Misty's Gyarados is the one you have to pick.
Popup: According to the PokeDex, Gyarados is capable of destroying cities in a fit of rage.
Nakano: Misty had Gyarados as a Magikarp. However, when it became hostile upon evolving, Misty was forced to lock him up. Eventually, he and Misty reconciled and are a powerful team and with a Mega Stone, it can turn into Mega Gyarados, a Water/Dark Type Pokemon!
Shadow: Despite literally being a Water-Type, Gyarados can unleash a burning Flamethrower from his mouth or deliver a powerful bite with Crunch. Hyper Beam fires an extremely powerful energy beam Gyarados can fire from his mouth at the cost of recharging for several turns.
Nakano: Rain Dance allows him to make it, well, rain as to boost Water-Type attacks for 5 turns and unless you have Sunny Day and Air Lock to counter it, it won't stop. Hurricane can toss an opponent up and has a chance to confuse your target. And Hydro Pump is a devastating water blast that can destroy anything unlucky enough to get in its range.
Feats
Misty is the current Gym Leader of Cerulean City
Misty was crowned Queen of the Princess Festival
After being bitten by Arbok, Pysduck use Disable on Team Rocket and their Pokemon before sending them flying with Confusion
Psyduck defeated Jessie's Lickitung
Psyduck defeated Meowth
Psyduck defeated Kingler
Corsola defeated Harrison's Qwilfish
Corsola defeated Trinity's Gyarados
Corsola defeated Dorian's Mantine despite the speed disadvantage
Gyarados broke free from its cage when it previously could not
Gyarados defeated three Tentacruels at once
Gyarados defeated Colonel Hansen's Shedninja with a Flamethrower
Mega Gyarados hold his own against Ash's Pikachu despite the Type disadvantage
Nakano: Misty has accomplished lot with her Pokemon. After returning to Kanto, she joined her sisters to become the 4th Sensational Sisters and took their place as the Gym Leader in Cerulean City.
Shadow: And Gyarados is a powerhouse of a Pokemon. When he saw Misty shield him from a Tentacruel's attack, it broke free from its cage and easily defeated the Invincible Pokemon's Tentacruels after learning Hyper Beam and Hydro Pump.
Popup: Shedninja's Wonder Guard ability means attacks that are not super effective are useless.
Nakano: Corsola also has managed to defeat Trinity's Mantine despite the Pokemon having a disadvantage at speed.
Weaknesses
Misty has anger issues
Misty is afraid of Bug-Type Pokemon
All of Misty's Pokemon's have weaknesses
Psyduck is dim-witted and stupid
Psyduck has hydrophobia
Most of Psyduck's powerful attacks and notable victories required outside help (Being bitten on the head for example lets his use Psychic and Confusion)
Psyduck is weak to Dark and Electric-Type attacks
Corsola is weak to Electric, Grass, Ground and Fighting-Type attacks
Corsola is defeated by Trinity's Chinchou
Gyarados proved very hostile upon evolving, forcing Misty to lock him up in the first place
Gyarados is weak to Electric and Rock Type attacks
Mega Gyarados is weak to Electric, Fairy, Bug, Fighting and Grass-Type Attacks
Mega Gyarados is defeated by Ash's Pikachu
Shadow: But even having effective team isn't without its downsides. Being an all Water-Type Pokemon means Electric-Type attacks are dangerously super effective. Tell me, have you ever been tased and felt the shock? Multiply that voltage by a hundred million while drenched in water.
Nakano: And for a Pokemon who is literally categorized as Water-Type and a duck, Psyduck is afraid of water. And most of his wins stem from the fact he had to have severe headaches to use his stronger attacks.
Shadow: It also doesn't help the fact that Misty has a temper that can cloud her judgement. Did we mention she's deathly afraid of bugs?
Nakano: And Gyarados has a bad attitude, attacking anyone which forced Misty to lock him up in a cage. But despite their faults, Misty and her team are one to look out for.
Misty: I'm Misty! I'm a user of Water-type Pokémon, and my Water-type Pokémon are tough!
Ranamon gathers her fans for DEATH BATTLE
(FIRE! - Digimon Frontier)
Nakano: Ranamon is one of the successors to the Ten Legendary Warriors and wields the Spirits of a Water, left by the AncientMermaidmon. However, she and the others were ultimately subverted by the corrupted Cherubimon.
Shadow: Though loyal to Cherubimon though, Ranamon rarely acts on her own unless she absolutely has to. Ranamon has a very public idol personality which, combined with her cute looks, generates her a large following, with many Digimon such as the Toucanmon and the Honeybeemon as her fans.
Nakano: As a result, she develops a rivalry with Zoe who is very beautiful. To her enemies and with her other dark Warriors, she is vain, selfish, and remarkably cruel. And after finding her H and B Spirits of Water items, Ranamon is a threat to be taken seriously.
Ranamon
Hydrokinesis
Can bewitched many Digimon
Detachable Arms
Draining Rain
Dark Vapor
Whipping Waves
Can shift between her Human-Spirit and Beast-Spirit forms at will
Nakano: As a successor to AncientMermaidmon, Ranamon possesses the ability to control water and use it to however she sees fit. The Whipping Waves makes her control water to deal heavy damage and Draining Rain lets her sap the strength out of her opponents.
Shadow: She can create an acidic cloud with Dark Vapor. And she can detach her arms to for attack or... tickling.
Calmaramon
Spiked tentacles
Titanic Tempest
Acid Ink
Shadow: And by using her B Spirit of Water, Ranamon can transform into her Beast-Spirit form Calmaramon. But damn that's one ugly squid! Looks like I won't be eating calamares for this week.
Nakano: Appearance aside, Calmaramon is a powerful Beast-Spirit. Her tentacles are capable of offensive and defensive capabilities, able to restrain other Digimon like Zephyrmon with ease. Her Acid Ink attack is where Calmaramon literally spits black acidic ink which can melt rocks with ease.
Shadow: And her Titanic Tempest is where she becomes an ultimate squid Beyblade as she retreats back into her squid-like body and starts spinning her body and tentacles to become a drill to deal critical damage.
Feats
One of the 5 Evil Warriors made from the Legendary Spirits at the hands of Cherubimon
Joined the raid on Seraphimon's Castle
Has a massive fanclub
Fought and outmatched Kazemon in a one-on-one battle
Collected her Beast Spirit
Trained to control her Beast Spirit
Fought Zoe several times, even trumping her Beast form Zephyrmon
Alongside Mercurymon, nearly defeated Koji
Acted as a Guardian within Sakakumon, fighting Zoe one last time before being defeated once and for all
Nearly defeated Kazemon in their first battle had her Titanic Tempest not backfire
Held her ground against BurningGreymon as Calmaramon
Nakano: Ranamon is a deadly Digimon the DigiDestined has faced. She's faced Zoe Orimoto time and time again, managing to overpower her Beast-Spirits Kazemon and Zephyrmon, even managing to keep up with them in their fight. And Kazemon is the fastest of the DigiDestined, capable of reaching FTL speeds.
Shadow: Calmaramon's been able to hold her own against BurningGreymon in a fight, who has the power of an active volcano. And just so you know, the energy output of an average volcanic eruption is 186,276 Megatons of TNT, at least 3725.5x stronger than the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful nuclear bomb in the entire planet.
Popup: Beast-Hybrid level Digimon said to be comparable or even superior to that of Champion or Ultimate Digimon.
Nakano: And while Ranamon was the last to obtain her Beast-Spirit form, her first transformation as Calmaramon is able to actually overpower Kazemon with easy. She would've defeated her if her Titanic Tempest didn't send her flying off.
Weaknesses
Very arrogant
Had trouble controlling her Beast Spirit Calmaramon on several occasions, her first attempt to use Titanic Tempest accidentally sends her flying away rather than becoming an attack
Calamaron's ugly appearance caused her to lose her Toucanmon fans in the process
Ranamon doesn't fight on her Human-Spirit form
Defeated by Zoe Orimoto
Shadow: But unfortunately for this (probably) hentai-inspired femme fatale, she has severe notable weaknesses, most notably Ranamon's very arrogant and will get angry if her fans doesn't cheer her on. Ironic that upon using Calmaramon she's ugly and lost her fans for that.
Nakano: Despite having an impressive abilities, Ranamon's not exactly a fighter in her Human-Spirit form, often relying on Calmaramon to do the heavy work.
Shadow: And it doesn't help she struggles to use her Beast-Spirit form, such as the time when she attempted to use Titanic Tempest as an attack, but ends up making her fly. Huh, you don't see flying squids that often.
Nakano: But even with her faults, Ranamon earned her status as the Warrior of Water for a reason.
Calmaramon: In all of my radiant beauty, aren't you impressed?
Nakano: All right, the combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Nakano and Shadow: It's time... For a DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Cerulean City
(Kings of the Sea - Therewolf Media)
Misty hummed as she was on her way back toward the gym with her Pokemon after having joined Ash and Brock to the Alola Region.
Misty: Man, I can't wait to tell my sisters about the adventures we and- Huh?
She stopped herself when she comes across a lake with bunch of water Pokémon ranging from Magikarps to Shellders, who are all in a circle and surrounding something. In the middle of the lake was Ranamon, who was giddily enjoying the attention of the water Pokemon looking at her.
Curious, Misty reach into her pocket and got a Pokeball out.
Misty: Never seen that Pokemon before, might as well catch it.
Misty raises her arm back and throws it at Ranamon. It bounces off Ranamon's head causing her to yelp a bit, but the action caused the Water-Type Pokemon to swim away. Seeing her new fans run away, Ranamon got angry and glare at the tomboy mermaid.
Ranamon: You brat! You scared off my fans!
Talking to her causing Misty to be surprised.
Misty: You can talk. You must be really rare!
But she is forced to duck when Ranamon attacks her with Whipping Waves. After dodging Misty stand sup with a Pokeball in her hand.
Misty Alright if it's a fight you want so be it. Go Staryu!
She throws the Pokeball to reveal her Pokemon.
FIGHT!
Ranamon blinked at the sight of Staryu before letting out a snort and falls on her back, laughing as she points her finger.
Ranamon: What kind of pathetic creature is that?!
Misty, however, had an annoyed look on her face.
Misty: I'll show pathetic! Staryu use Swift!
Staryu obeys her command and, launch several star projectiles at the Digimon. Ranamon immediately stopped laughing as the attacks graze her skin.
Ranamon: Ow ow ow ow! That really hurts! Whipping Waves!
Ranamon cries out as she summons a wall of water to stop before Misty gather more of her Pokemon.
Misty: There's more where that comes from! Everyone out!
Soon, Corsola, Psyduck and Gyarados all came out and got into a stance. Ranamon narrows her eyes as she eyes her targets.
Ranamon: Show me what you got then! Whipping Waves!
Ranamon unleashes several water attacks that are either evaded or simply do not have an effective.
Corsola then uses Mirror Coat to reflect the attack back at her while Staryu uses Bubblebeam and Gyarados fires a Hyper Beam. Ranamon screamed as she ducks under the the attacks before unleashing a rain cloud.
Ranamon: Draining Rain!
Misty's Pokemon then felt they were being sapped of their strength. The Gym Leader felt hers as well, but decides to pull through.
Misty: Gyarados, Rain Dance!
The Atrocious Pokemon activates a large area of clouds which overruns Ranamon's own, boosting their powers.
Misty: Everyone now!
Gyarados fires his Hydro Pump, Staryu with Bubblebeam, Corsola with Spike Cannon and Psyduck with Confusion. Ranamon screams in agony as she's struck by the combined and sent flying into the pond she was in. Misty and her Pokemon cheers as they managed to take down the Digimon.
Misty: Ha! How'd you like that?!
Ranamon surfaces from the water before spitting out some of it that she swallows. Tick marks grew on her forehead as Ranamon decides to stop playing around.
Ranamon: That's it, Ranamon Slide Evolution!
Ranamon's body glows white before revealing her Beast Spirit form, Calmaramon.
Calmaramon: Calmaramon, ahahahahaha!
Misty is shocked by Ranamon's new appearance as she and her Pokemon step back in fear. Even Gyarados seemed intimidated by the sheer look of the Digimon.
Misty: Holy cow, she evolved!
Calmaramon laughs as her spiky tentacles posed in an intimidating stance.
Calmaramon: How'd you like me now?!
Calmaramon's cheeks puff up before unleashing Acid Ink unto Corsola, the Pokemon attempts to use Mirror Coat, but since it's not a special attack, it bypasses it. Poor Corsola screams in agony as she's melted and killed by the attack.
Staryu uses Double Edge, but it has no effect before Calmaramon catches it in her tentacles and literally crushes it to death, blood dripping from her limb is proof. Misty is horrified that two of her beloved Pokemon are mercilessly killed.
Misty: Staryu, Corol
Psyduck steps back in fear as Gyarados is enraged and uses Flamethrower, but Calmaramon laughs as the flames have no effect on her before grabbing him and Psyduck and starts squeezing them as well. They scream in pain as they were being crushed.
Misty: Leave them alone!
Misty runs to save her Pokemon, but Calmaramon slaps her away.
Calmaramon: Foolish girl!
As Calmaramon squeezes Psyduck's head even harder, the Pokemon's eyes glowed blue before the squid-like Digimon finds a blue aura paralyzing her, via Psychic.
Calmaramon: Huh?!
Psyduck then chucks her away from his Trainer and frees them both. As Calmaramon recovers, Misty uses this as an advantage and brings out a Gyaradosite.
Misty: Gyarados Mega Evolve!
A prism aura consumes Gyarados before it reveals his form, Mega Gyarados. His size now rivaling that of Calmaramon.
Mega Gyarados roars as he closes in on Calmaramon and uses Crunch to bite deep into one of her tentacles. She screams in pain as blood seeps from her wounds.
Calmaramon: You'll pay for this!
She attempts to use Acid Ink again, but Misty quickly sees this.
Misty: Psyduck, Disable!
Psydyck's eyes glowed again. When Calamarmon, nothing came out much to her shock.
Calmaramon: WHAT?!
Misty: Mega Gyarados, use Hydro Pump!
Mega Gyarados whips Calmaramon with his tail before blasting him away with a powerful water beam. Calmaramon shields herself with her tentacles. Misty and Psyduck got into Mega Gyarados back as Calamarmon levitated off the ground.
Misty: You're finish squid lady! Mega Gyarados, use Hyper Beam to end this once and for all!
MEga Gyarados charges his one of his most powerful moves before launching the intense energy beam at the Digimon. Calmaramon scoffs before spreading her tentacles around.
Calmaramon: Titanic Tempest!
Calmaramon spins in a very fats motion before diving. She collides with the Hyper Beam and the attacks are at a stalemate.
Then, slowly, Calmaramon's Titanic Tempest begins penetrating the Hyper Beam. Soon, she drills through the energy beam as Mega Gyarados, Psyduck and Misty could only look on in horror.
Misty: Noooooo!
The attacks struck all three targets, causing them to scream in absolute agony as they were shredded to bloody chunks and sending blood to rain all over the area. Calmaramon stops her attacks and investigates the area. She smirks as she crosses her arms.
Calmaramon: Sucks to be you girlie. Shouldn't have scared my fans off like that.
KO!
* Calamaramon digivolves back into Ranamon and decides to search for a place to gather new fans.
* Misty's sisters Daisy, Violet, and Lily rush to see what was going on, only to be horrified by the remains of Misty and her Pokemon.
Results
(Kings of the Sea again)
Shadow: *Relieved* Sooo, we're not having calamares tonight? Good, considering I've seen hentai to know where this is going.
Nakano: *Rolls her eyes* I swear you've been hanging out with Randy and Adam too much.
Shadow: *Raised eyebrow* And you don't with Alisa and Sara?
Nakano:... Touche. Back to the analysis. Misty and her Pokemon may have the advantage in numbers and teamwork, but Ranamon and her Beast Spirit dominates in everything else. Ranamon on her own is not much of a strategist nor a fighter, but Calmaramon is an entirely different story.
Shadow: Gyarados are said to be capable of destroying cities. To destroy a city in one blast would require at minimum 790 megatons of TNT. That's a lot, but Calmaramon on the other has fought evenly with BurningGreymon who has the power of a freaking active volcano, equal to 186,276 megatons! That is 235.8 times superior than Gyarados' own power.
Nakano: Even if we use Mega Gyarados as a deciding factor, the blast would only be about 1,581.03 megatons of TNT. Not even close.
Shadow: We're not even talk about their speed difference since Calmaramon has tagged Kazemon and Zephyrmon, both who can reach lightspeeds. Pretty sure only Legendary Pokemons like Rayquaza and Deoxys are capable of such speeds.
Nakano: And while Rain Dance can boost Water-Type attacks, sadly, it can also boost Ranamon and her Beast Spirit as well. I mean there's a reason the DigiDestined prefers fighting the Digimon on the ground or up in the air where there's little water.
Shadow: Well looks like this fight got Pokemon fans Misty-eyed. Seems she's DigiDestined to lose.
Nakano: The winner is Ranamon.
* The connections between Misty and Ranamon is that both are people who possess mermaid traits, has a short temper and possess the ability to control water (Specifically Misty's Pokemon)
* Both are known for disliking certain things or someone (Misty has fear of Bug-Type Pokemon and Ranamon has a personal dislike to Zoe Orimoto for the fact her Beast Spirit is more beautiful)
* Both have also had female rivals (Jessie for Misty and Zoe Orimoto for Ranamon). The only difference is that Jessie is an antagonist of the Pokemon series while Zoe is one of the protagonists of the Digimon Frontier series
