Buffer was up early and down to the wharf to prepare Swaino. To his surprise, 2Dads had turned up. "I know it's my day off, Buff, but Mike was my CO, too."

"Good man," said Buffer and slapped him on the back.

They had fitted a restraining device to keep Mike's wheelchair in place. This consisted of metal plates welded to the boat hull, with four turnbuckle clamps attached. Buffer and 2Dads agreed that if this worked, they could expand to take disabled passengers onboard. They decided to fish off Bessie Point, for Mike's comfort, instead of heading into open waters.

Gregory, Mike and Bomber had already turned up; Robert had chosen to remain behind, wanting to spend the time reading, or so he told Bomber. 2Dads looked up and saw Bomber and said to her, "You know it's bad luck to have a woman onboard."

Bomber promptly swiped him over the head. She said, "I'm not the only woman coming today. Charge and Amy are here and joining us."

2Dads' face lit up. "Charge is here? Awesome!"

As he was speaking, Charge and Amy appeared. 2Dads yelled, "Charge! MATE!"

Charge and 2Dads hugged each other, accompanied with much back-slapping. Charge was equally exuberant at seeing 2Dads. He then turned to his wife and said, "Amy, meet Leo Kosov-Meyer, also known as 2Dads."

"Pleased to meet you," he said, offering her his cheekiest smile and tip of his

hat. He then escorted her onboard, causing Bomber to say, "Hey Sir Walter Raleigh, what about me?"

Buffer and Gregory helped Mike aboard, and fitted the clamps to his wheelchair. Then Buffer said, "2Dads, stop play-acting and cast off the lines."

Swaino was soon sailing away from the wharf, under the expert hand of Buffer.

Mike remembered Buffer's smooth handling from his Hammersley days, and remarked on the name of the boat. Buffer said, "I have three boats in my fleet, Mike, this is my first boat, and I had to name her Swaino. I think you know why." Charge nodded toward Buffer.

"What did you call the other two?" Mike asked.

"The Chloe Bee, and the Katie Mac."

Mike thought, Swain, his daughter and my wife. That's a special tribute.

Charge explained to Amy about the names of Buffer's other boats. Bomber said to Buffer, "That's really lovely that you named your boats like you have."

Buffer smiled broadly.

Buffer and 2Dads navigated to Bessie Beach, and anchored there. Everyone was keen to fish, so the deck reels were baited and let down. The first catch was taken by Amy, to the frank admiration of her husband. Gregory expertly brought the second fish on board, and the deck reels were baited again. The fishing proceeded with Bomber and Charge landing fish, then Mike caught a good-sized fish, which Buffer netted and brought inboard for him.

The fishing party was getting hungry, and 2Dads set up the BBQ. He tried to persuade Bomber to do the cooking, and she refused, saying she was on leave.

When everyone was eating, Charge said, "I was reading about the Battle of the Coral Sea, and I came across a great conspiracy theory, about a captured Japanese Zero." This was met by loud groans from his former Hammersley crew mates; 2Dads rolling his eyes, and Mike said, "We know you love your conspiracies, Charge."

Buffer cut in. "I could tell you a true story from the war. It would knock your conspiracy theory for six, Charge."

Charge sighed, and Amy said to him, "Save it for Emmett, he loves your conspiracy theories."

"Ok Buff. Let's hear it. A slab of beer says my conspiracy theory story could beat yours hands down."

Buffer and Charge shook hands, and Buffer began.
