Watching Private Practice again I see how much Pete and Addison have been wronged. They could have had a real chance and that's what they'll get here.

I apologize for the mistakes, but English is not my language.

Good reading.

Addison can't believe her eyes as Violet's figure emerges from the open door, she shudders and pulls Lucas closer to her chest. The moment Pete asks her to take the little boy to his room, she immediately answers and almost runs with him to the room.

Addison paces with Lucas on her lap, her anxiety making her nauseous as she blames herself for letting herself get so wrapped up in Pete and Lucas. She always knew that this day would come, that Violet would return to her son, that she would try to get Pete back, and that they would become the family they were always meant to be. Addison is so immersed in her thoughts that she doesn't notice Lucas already asleep in her lap, until his little hand falls from her shoulder, she smiles tenderly, kisses the boy's temple and places him on the bed.

Once Lucas is comfortable, Addison resumes pacing the room, wondering what's going on between Pete and Violet in the room. Luckily Pete doesn't take long to enter the room, he gives her a tight smile, but before he can say anything, Addison feels the room spin, her legs weaken and she leans into an armchair. Pete jumps up to her and grips her waist tightly, while asking:

"Addie, what?"

"I just need to...s-sit..."

Addison speaks in a thin voice, Pete holds her tight and leads her to the bed, where he sits her down and kneels in front of her, holding her hands in his. Addison takes a deep breath for a few moments and finally the bad feeling starts to dissipate, she gives a soft smile to Pete who asks:

"Better?"

"Uhm..."

Addison nods still a little weakly, Pete smiles and caresses her cheek before speaking:

"I'll get you some water. Lie down."

He gets up and leaves the room, Addison takes off her clothes while still sitting and crawls under the covers, snuggling up to Lucas. Soon Pete returns, he hands the glass of water to Addison, who drinks it quickly, as soon as she finishes he asks worriedly:

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, it was just stress."

"Uhm."

Addison reassures her, but without meeting her boyfriend's eyes, he decides not to press. After a moment of silence, Pete speaks again:

"Violet arrived demanding things."

"I do not want to know."

Addison abruptly interrupts him, Pete stares at her confused, but she explains herself:

"I don't want to talk about it today."

"Addison..."

"Please, I just want to sleep."

Addison practically begs, Pete nods, knowing it's not worth trying to continue the conversation and then prepares to take Lucas to the nursery. Addison stops him, again almost begging:

"Leave him here."

"Are you sure?"

"Uhm."

Addison nods before snuggling up to the boy again. Pete manages a sad smile, he kisses Addison's temple and hugs her waist, so the three of them sleep hugging, as on so many other nights in the last few months.

Pete wakes up before the alarm clock, he carefully gets out of bed and picks up Lucas, leaving Addison asleep.

Addison wakes up feeling the mattress sink beside her, she blinks sleepily and Pete smiles at her. Addison turns around and jumps when she sees the time, but before she can ask, Pete explains:

"I already called Naomi to let her know I won't be working today and I also told Sam you weren't feeling well. We're off duty."

"Pete, I'm fine, you didn't have to."

"You scared me yesterday, it doesn't hurt to get some rest."

He speaks softly before placing a kiss on her forehead, after a few seconds of silence, Addison asks:

"What about Lucas?"

"I took him to daycare, but we can pick him up at lunchtime if you're feeling well."

"I took him to daycare, but we can pick him up at lunchtime if you're feeling well."

Addison nods but soon shudders, Pete quickly hovers over her asking worriedly:

"A nausea..."

Addison speaks before taking a deep breath, Pete strokes her hair and asks:

"Don't you think we'd better go to the hospital?"

Addison gives a soft smile and takes one more deep breath before speaking:

"No. I must have had mild food poisoning, that's all."

"Are you sure?"

Addison just nods and although not entirely convinced, speaks up;

"Fine, but if you don't get better we will."

"Fine."

Addison still speaks a little breathlessly and Pete asks:

"Want me to make you some tea?"

"No, I just want some more sleep."

Addison talks already snuggling against him, Pete smiles, kisses her forehead and settles down beside her while stroking her hair in a comforting pattern.

Addison wakes up alone in bed, she feels much better and quite hungry. After getting up and taking a shower, Addison enters the kitchen attracted by the smell of food, Pete smiles at her and gives her a kiss on the cheek while asking:

"Better?"

"Yes. And hungry."

"Lunch is almost ready."

Addison nods and sits down picking up a cherry tomato, after eating it she asks:

"After lunch, are we going to pick up Lucas?"

"We will."

Pete speaks with a smile as he starts serving lunch.

So after having lunch, they both go to their son's school, then they take him for a long walk in the park, some shopping, only arriving late in the afternoon with a sleepy Lucas.

Soon he takes the boy from Pete's lap and takes him to the bath.

Once Lucas is asleep, Pete goes into the room where Addison is sitting, drinking a glass of wine and staring off into space. Pete sits next to her, he puts his hand on her thigh and asks calmly:

"We can talk now?"

"Uhm..."

"Addison, I need you to look at me."

Pete still speaks in a calm tone and lifts her chin, making their eyes meet. He smiles caressing her jaw and then begins to speak:

"Violet wants Lucas back, she claims she's recovered and is ready to be his mother."

"Uhm...

Addison just mutters, lowering her eyes. Pete speaks again:

"I'm going to hire a lawyer. I'm not giving up my son after all this time taking care of him alone."

"Are you going to a court fight?"

"If there's no other way, yes."

"There's another way..."

Addison claims trying to look away again, but Pete holds his face in his hands and states with conviction:

"My story with her is over, Addie. It's you I'm with and who I want to be with."

"But..."

"No buts. I need you by my side more than ever. Lucas and I need you."

With those words he sees the tears welling up in her eyes, he pulls her into his arms and presses her to his chest. Addison just grips him tightly and nods, giving the confirmation he needs. Pete smiles and stands there holding her affectionately.

The first chapter was more introductory. In the next ones we will have Violet and the clinic staff.
