We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.

The school system, the way it is set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. And, a school sporting event, can bring out the best and worst of the students that are playing. This is the competitive Junior year.

The tugs theme then plays

Junior's POV

I woke up the following morning, with my head still resting on Bertha's naked chest. She then asked me if I could take my pants off, so I can finally get inside of her. I politely declined, telling her that I wasn't quite ready for sex, and she understood. We then got dressed, and went down for breakfast. Izzy was of course being Izzy, and asked us if we got to second base. There was no way in hell we were telling her what we just did, topics that involve anything past the casual kiss, is not something you talk about at breakfast. After breakfast, the two of us went to the grocery store.

Reader's POV

Junior and Bertha were in the cereal isle, and Bertha was confused about the advertising that was on the boxes. "I cannot believe the cereal is called Pebbles, when it's actually Fred and Barney on the box art" said Bertha. "I don't even think they had cereal back then" said Junior. "Hey guys" said a voice. "Leonard then walked up to them. "Oh hi Leonard, I saw you at the game" said Junior. "I'm shocked that you two plan on getting married, and never having kids" said Leonard. "What would lead you to think something so stupid?" asked Bertha. "It's because you're the only female player in your league" said Leonard. "I always thought that the reason why there were more male athletes than female athletes, was because in order for a couple to have kids, the female has to carry the child, and competing while pregnant is incredibly dangerous." "I always thought women didn't have time for sports, because they wanted to start a family."

Junior's POV

He isn't 100% wrong. While I don't think that's the number one reason, I think it is a minor factor. I always thought the claim about males being better athletes than females, was never true. The reason why people think that, is because in the early days of sports, women were not allowed to participate. Society is still trying to come to terms, even though the restriction was lifted a long time ago. Four our next game of the season against Checkered loop, Bertha almost didn't make it in time, due to her grandfather having a stroke. Thankfully, her grandfather made it out alive, and Bertha arrived at the match just in time. As we were the visiting team, we were going to be batting first.

Reader's POV

Once they got through the national anthem, it was time for the game to begin. Bertha was the first one up to bat, and upon hitting the ball, it ended up hitting the pitcher's groin. Because the ball wasn't picked up fast enough, Bertha was able to make it past first base, but was tagged out at second. The next batter got a single, and then they immediately got into the bottom of the inning, courtesy of Checkered loop pulling off a double play. Once the bottom of the inning started, things began going downhill for Bronzestone. Before they got three outs, Checkered loop successfully got three home runs, one of them being a grand slam. Once the first inning was finally complete, they were leading Bronzestone seven to nothing. Bronzestone had some work to do if they wanted to win this game.

In the second inning, Bronzestone really showed what they were made of. Before they even got their first out, they managed to get all nine of their batters to home plate. They were then taken out in a triple play. Checkered loop was close to repeating their success, but only got eight runs instead of nine. Going into the third inning, Checkered loop was leading Bronzestone 15-9.

Before the third inning started, the pitcher for Checkered loop had to be taken out of the game, due to really bad pains in his pelvic area, due to his earlier hit. He thought he might have broken his pelvis. He then left the stadium, to see a doctor. ""THAT'S THE SECOND INJURY SHE CAUSED!" shouted and angry fan. Bronzestone then went on to get seven runs before getting three outs. Checkered loop on the other hand, was only able to get six. They were still leading Bronzestone going into the fourth inning, with the score being 21-16. Bronzestone was slowly catching up. At this point, the sun was starting to set.

In the fourth inning, Bronzestone took a small step backwards, when it came to how many runs they got per inning. This time they were only able to get three. But in the bottom of the inning, Bertha successfully struck out three batters in a row. Checkered loop was still leading going into the fifth inning, with the score being 21-19.

In the fifth inning, every time one of the Bronzestone players would get a run, it would immediately be followed by an out. As such, they only got three runs. Checkered loop went back to the way they were in the first inning, and began to pull away, managing to get five runs. They still led Bronzestone going into the sixth inning, with the score being 26-22. Now, the sun had completely gone down, and the stadium was under the lights.

In the sixth inning, after getting two outs, Junior managed to knock the ball over the fence while Edward Francis was on second base, getting themselves a two run home run. After they got their third out, Checkered loop just continued to pull away from them, by getting an impressive six runs. They were leading Bronzestone going into the seventh inning, with the score being 32-24.

In the seventh inning, after getting two outs, Bronzestone was able to get the bases loaded. Bertha saw Hudson standing on third base, and she was shooting him a death glare. She was still pissed at him for insinuating that it was Harold's own fault he got injured. When the ball was thrown to her, she pretended the ball was Hudson. This ended up working, as the ball went outside the park, scoring them a grand slam. Their next batter was then struck out. In the bottom of the inning, Checkered loop continued to pull away, getting two grand slams. They continued to lead Bronzestone going into the eighth inning, with the score being 40-28.

In the eight inning, Bronzestone realized that they were running out of time, and they had to pick up the pace. Once again, they got all nine of their runners onto home plate, before they got their first out. They then had to endure three strikeouts in a row. In the bottom of the inning, Checkered loop got seven runs before getting their third out. They were nearing the end of the game. Going into the ninth inning, Checkered loop was leading Bronzestone 47-37.

Going into the ninth inning, the Bronzestone team knew that they needed to mount a serious comeback. If they were to have any chance at winning this game, they would need to get at least 10 runs. With the amount of pressure that was put on them, it felt like the inning was taking much longer than it should. Eventually the bases were loaded, they had gotten four runs, but they had two outs. Junior stepped up to the batter's box, and got the team a grand slam. They were just two runs away from tying the game. The next batter hit the ball towards towards right field. The ball hit the ground, and was picked up by the right fielder. It was then tossed, and was caught by the first baseman, getting the batter out. The game was over, Bronzestone had lost. Everyone on the Checkered loop team ran out of their dugout, and began celebrating. They had just won, with the final score being 47-45.

By the time the Bronzestone team made it back to the dugout, it was midnight. "This has been one of the worst nights in my entire life" said Hudson. He then turned towards Bertha. "Thanks to you, that pitcher will probably never have kids." "Why the fuck did I ever consider you a friend?" "Every time you play, you become a danger to those around you." "Don't expect me to show up at your wedding."

Junior and Bertha were then taking a bathroom break in the locker room bathroom, in stalls right next to each other. "Any respect I had for Hudson, has now gone out the window" said Junior. "If he changes his mind and wants to come to our wedding, he is officially uninvited." "He was right about one thing, I'm a danger to everyone around me" said Bertha. "That is the second game in a row where I have almost killed someone." "Maybe I should resign from the team, this is a male sport anyway." "Bertha listen, injuries in sports are more common than you think" said Junior. "I love you, and I have faith in you." "Nobody becomes an MVP player overnight, you just need to take time, practice makes perfect." He then put his hand under the stall. "Can you please give me some toilet paper?" "My stall doesn't even have a roll."

Junior's POV

Had we actually won that game, Bertha probably wouldn't be so hard on herself. She decided that as soon as visiting hours were open after school on Monday, she was going to visit Uncle Harold in the hospital. Even if he was unconscious and couldn't hear her, she still wanted to apologize for badly injuring him. But that is a story for another day.

Authors note: I realized that actual Character named Pebbles was absent from the box art, When PhantonStrider pointed it out in his top 10 cereal failures video.

While I don't 100% think that's the number one reason, I think wanting to start a family is a contributing factor as to why there are more males than females in a lot of sports.

In baseball, if the ball hits a player on the opposing team after being hit by a bat, play continues as normal. If it hit's a player on the same team as the batter, that player is out. If it hits the umpire, it's a foul ball.

Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
