He stepped inside the room and closed the door behind him. Cora looked up in shock. "Why would I want to cancel our dinner reservation?" He said.
"Oh Robert! You could have texted me, you didn't have to come over."Cora smiled.
Robert put his hands on her shoulders."You are leaving within a week, and I don't want to regret anything of your visit."
Cora lowered her gaze, but Robert put his hand under her chin to lift her face up again."I made the mistake of not visiting you in New York, 24 years ago. I am not making that same mistake again."He softly kissed her lips.
Cora's body relaxed under his touch, his hands moved to her hips, and he softly squeezed the flesh of her hips. It was a long time she was touched in this way and her body trembled. Robert misread her signals and let her go. He stepped back."Sorry, I don't want to push in."
"No, no. It is not you, it is just."Cora stopped to swallow away the upcoming tears.
"Cora? What is wrong? Why are you crying?"He brushed away a tear of her cheek.
"I haven't been touched in this way for 17 years."
"We don't have to do this tonight. What if we just lay in bed and sleep next to each other?"Robert asked with an unsure voice.
That's what they did, Robert put on one of the pyjamas hanging in the linen closet. Cora opened the sheets for him to crawl next to her. He was laying on his side, facing Cora. She scooted a little closer and rested her head on his arm. She kissed his cheekand closed her eyes. She had the best sleep in years.
When Cora woke up, Robert was already up. He was sitting in front of the big windows watching the view. She stared at him for a while, she was scared it was all a dream, but he really stayed the night. She got up very quietly and walked over to him. She wrapped her arms around him. "Good morning." She kissed his temple. "Did you sleep well?"
Robert turned his face and touched her cheek with his hand. "I did and you?"
"The best sleep I had in years. Do you want breakfast?"
"Breakfast is already coming, I just ordered it. I hope you like a full English breakfast."
"You don't have to work today?" Cora asked.
"I took the day off. That is the best thing about owning a company, you can take a free day whenever you like" He chuckled. "I was hoping, we could go for lunch with my sister Rosamund."
Cora looked at him in surprise. "Meeting the family?"
Robert's cheeks coloured. "Well, uhm, no, not really. Yeah, she is my sister, but uhm, you remember she wanted to meet you when we first met, so well uhm…." Robert stammered.
Cora reached over the table to touch Robert's hand. "I was only joking, I would love to meet up with your sister."
Rosamund was waiting at 'The Dorchester' when she saw Robert entering the building with a lovely woman on his side. She was exactly how Robert had described her. Before even talking to her, she got why Robert never dated anyone else.
"My darling sister, sorry we are a little bit late." Robert greeted Rosamund.
"That is alright, I enjoyed my glass of wine while waiting for you two. You must be Cora?" Rosamund put out her hand to shakes Cora's
"Hello Rosamund, how lovely to meet you."
Rosamund had asked thousands of questions.
"No, I am not married anymore. Unfortunately, Daniel wasn't faithful. We have three wonderful girls, Victoria, Tayler and Olivia. For now, I am not planning on staying in London, I have to go back to New York." Cora saw Robert's face, he tried to hide his disappointment. Cora touched his leg with her feet.
Cora had gone with Robert to his apartment, they were sitting on his roof terrace, drinking a cup of tea. Cora leaned in on Robert. "I am really enjoying myself these days, thank you so much for making the time for me."
"Thank you for coming over to London. You cannot know how happy you are making me."
"Are we really doing this, Robert?"
"Are we doing what?" Robert asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
Cora looked up and smiled. "Trying if this works?"
Robert took Cora's face in his hand. "Why not?" He lowered his head to kiss her.
Cora stretched her neck to answer his kiss. His lips were so soft, she tasted milk and honey from his tea and wanted more. She turned her body so she could kiss him better. Leaning heavily on him, Robert sunk back on the couch, so she was laying on top of him.
Robert wrapped both arms around her and pulled her close. Cora's lips parted slightly, allowing his tongue to slip inside, carefully touching hers. His chest filled with warmth, the smell of her perfume made him dizzy, he felt butterflies in his stomach. He was kissing his Cora, after all these years, she was really here.
Cora's whole body tingled when Robert had pulled her close. His mouth hungry and intense. Cora's fingers had slipped under his shirt. The whole world could tumble down, but her world was here and now with Robert.
Robert, turned Cora around, so he was leaning over her. He moved his kisses to Cora's neck and went down to her chest. His fingers unbuttoning her blouse. He saw her beautiful breasts and softly kissed them, he felt Cora's body tremble. Her chest rose and fell with every breath she took. "I want you" He murmured.
"I am yours." Cora answered.
Abruptly Robert stood up from the couch, scooped Cora up and walked back inside with her. "I don't want to have any audience, not even the birds, you are mine and only mine."
