Robert walked through customs, he had to force himself to walk. He felt like running towards the sliding doors. Cora would be on the other side. It was four weeks ago he had to let her go, but now she would be back in his arms.
Right before the doors he was stopped.
"You have to come with us sir." A woman in uniform said to him.
Robert looked startled. "What is happening? I have somebody waiting for me."
"We need to check your bags sir, please follow."
Robert took out his phone to text Cora, but he got orders to put it away.
"No contact sir. Just follow."
He was taken to a separate room, where they checked his bags. It turned out a sniffing dog had singled out his suitcase. He knew immediately why. Rosamund had made scones and they were inside. Although the scones were clearly what the dog had smelled, his suitcase got a search inside out. Robert got really nervous Cora would think he didn't come.
"Can I please contact my friend. She is waiting for me." Robert said with an unsteady voice.
"Why are you so nervous sir, what are you hiding?" The officer ordered for a male officer to come to do a body search.
"No, I am just nervous that I will miss my friend. Please can I contact her?"
Cora was standing right in front of the doors. Robert could walk through them any minute. She had seen his flight had landed. It took a very long time, she was getting nervous. Cora was sure she heard people with a British account around her. Where was Robert. Why wasn't he walking through those doors. He had texted her he was boarding, where was he. Did he lie? Did he not board?
After what seemed forever, she saw him. His long, strong figure, he was wearing dark jeans with a green sweater on top. He looked flustered and stressed. His eyes were searching the crowd, Cora tried to call out, but there was no sound coming from her mouth. Instead, she walked over to him, well, it was more of a slow run. When Robert spotted her figure coming towards him, he dropped his bag and opened his arms to catch Cora. She jumped in his arms and kissed him with full passion.
"You came." She said out of breath. "You really came, I can't believe it." She kissed him again. Robert twirled her around.
"How good to have you back in my arms, darling." He put her down on her feet.
"What took you so long?" Cora asked while taking his hand.
"In my bag there were scones, baked by Rosamund for you. But a dog smelled them and picked out my bag. They did a search for contraband, and then I acted stupid, by being nervous, so I got a full body search. I can tell you, that is no fun ride in the park." He chuckled.
Cora grabbed his hand a little stronger and leaned against him. "You donk. Thank you for coming, I missed you."
Robert had booked the Royal Suite at 'The St Regis' "Are you coming with me to my hotel?"
"You aren't tired? You had a long flight."
"I have to adjust to the time difference and what better way, than doing that in company of you." Robert smiled at Cora.
The butler had brought Robert's suitcase and bags up to the room. They looked around, it was huge. Robert didn't need all that space, but he was used to staying in the best rooms. It was a long time ago he had stayed in a normal hotel room. He always booked a suite. "You must think, I am crazy for booking this suite." He said a little bit guilty.
Cora laughed. "You forgot the room I booked in London?"
Robert pulled Cora close. "of course, how stupid of me, you are used to only have the best." He nuzzled his nose in her neck and kissed her collarbone softly. He sent chills down Cora's spine. She moulded her body against his.
Her hands were roaming over his back. She loved this feeling. Her whole body was tingling. Robert had a magical effect on her. "You are sure you are not too tired?" She asked.
Robert didn't say anything, he just kissed her. "I only want to wash of the flight." He said after breaking the connection.
"Of course, you take a shower. I will order something to eat."
Robert was enjoying the warmth of the water, he rinsed of his body, when he felt two hands on his hips. Cora slipped into the shower. Pressing her body against his back. Her hands moved to his stomach. He felt his body react, Cora noticed it too and her hand went down. She played with him, while kissing his shoulders and back. "I want to feel you." he moaned. He turned around so he was facing Cora. He pressed her against the wall. She willingly moved with him. His mouth found hers, his hands were playing with her breasts. "Are you ready for me?"
Cora just hmmd, wrapping one leg around him allowing him in. It ended up in giggles, the shower was way to slippery and their bodies were slippery too. "In novels and movies this always looks fun." Cora chuckled.
"We are doing something wrong." Robert laughed. He turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around Cora. "Did you order food?"
Cora looked up. "No, not yet. Do you want to eat in, or go out?"
"I prefer to stay in, but we better go out. Otherwise , we won't eat a thing." He winked at Cora.
Cora had booked a table at 'Eleven Madison Park'. She and Robert had three days together, today was the day he was going to meet her girls. In the taxi Robert had squeezed her hand. "It will be alright. I am sure I will like your girls." he said with a smile.
"I am not worried about that. What if they don't like you. What am I going to do then?"
"Don't think about that yet, we will see how today goes. But give your girls time. Maybe they won't like me instantly, but it can grow. I will behave today."
Cora slapped his arm. "Do not joke about that. I really want this to work out."
"Did we already work out how we are doing this? I mean us?"
Cora lowered her eyes and let go of Roberts hand. "No, not yet. I don't know what to do."
Robert took her hand back in his. "We are going to find a way, we will."
Victoria, Tayler and Olivia were already waiting in front of the restaurant.
"Girls, this is Robert, Robert this is Victoria, Tayler and Olivia." They all shook hands and got in the restaurant.
All three of the girls had asked Robert loads of questions. The afternoon flew by, and it seemed to click between them four.
"Are we going to get a cup of coffee at our place?" Tayler asked.
Robert looked at Cora. "Are we?"
Cora was unsure. "If you girls want that, why not."
Later that evening, Olivia had gone back to her house. She had bought a house together with Max. Cora had helped with the mortgage. Victoria went to Dan's house and Tayler had gone up to her room. Robert and Cora were sitting in front of the fireplace. Cora was snuggled against Robert. He had wrapped one arm around her. They enjoyed a glass of wine and the silence around them.
"You have three wonderful daughters." Robert broke the silence. "They all look like you, but all in a different way. Victoria has your strength, Tayler has your creative mind and Olivia is your sweet caring copy."
Cora smiled at him. "I am glad it went so smooth today. I could not have wished for a better outcome." She turned her face to kiss Robert. "Do you want to stay the night here?"
"Are you sure?"
"I haven't slept with Daniel for over 17 years in this house. He never came to my bedroom." Cora saw Robert's surprised face. "I know, this sound strange, but we slept in different bedrooms. He always said it was because he didn't want to wake me when he came home late from work, or had to leave early. But now I know better, he just didn't want to lay next to me."
Robert pulled Cora even closer. "He is a fool for not seeing what a special gem he had in you. But I am thankful to be here together with you."
