Ace Combat 5/RWBY crossover I don't own either

Jaune stood quietly with his head down as the elevator rose to Ozpin's office. His day had started off quite well, he'd just got back from the forever fall trip. Eating lunch with his team and team RWBY when a message pinged all of their scrolls. Apparently, Cardin didn't care if Jaune saved his life, as he had sent the entire first year class a simple message.

'Jaune Arc is a fraud.' Jaune's hear shrunk upon reading the message. His day went downhill from there. He had to run to his dorm room to escape the flood of angered words and violent actions sent at him from the cafeteria. Soon after arriving at his dorm room, he received a message from Ozpin calling for his immediate presence.

So here he stood. In the elevator with Ms. Goodwitch glaring holes in the back of his head. Jaune shrunk even more as the doors opened to reveal a blank faced Ozpin and a portly man in a blue military uniform.

"Jaune Arc. Please step forwards." Ozpin spoke quietly. Jaune did as he was ordered and walked towards the large desk. He stopped just before the desk and raised his head slightly revealing slightly red, puffed eyes. Ozpin continued his blank gaze before gazing at the portly man next to him then back to Jaune.

"The council has ordered me to take you into custody. Forged transcripts can end with a 5-year sentence in prison." Jaune flinched at his words. Ozpin rubbed his eyes before gazing back at the boy.

"I believe that the sentence is too severe for one such as yourself. You passed initiation, which is enough of a testament to me. So, I've called a 'friend' within the Valean Air Force," he gestured to the man beside him, "This is Colonel Orson Perrault, Base Commander of the Sand Island Air Force Base on the eastern coast." The portly man stepped forwards and sneered down at Jaune.

"So, you're the brat to cause all this trouble?" the base commander asked. Jaune nodded slowly. Perrault growled lightly.

"I need you to speak up brat." he ordered. Jaune looked up, fearfully.

"Y-Yes sir." he spoke. Perrault nodded before looking to Ozpin. Jaune glanced over at the headmaster as the two adults seemed to have a silent conversation. Ozpin looked at Jaune.

"Jaune Soliel Arc. In place of your criminal charges, you've been enlisted into the Valean Air Force. Your charges shall be cleared depending on your cooperation with your superiors and wing mates." Ozpin spoke before looking at Perrault, who gave a slightly sinister grin.

"Welcome to Wardog squadron." he sneered.

Sand Island Air Force Base

Valean East Coast

2 weeks later

1200

Jaune looked up from the trashcan to see what his new home would be for the foreseeable future before heaving his lunch back into the trashcan. Other cadets looked down on him in pity, wondering what cruel person would send a kid with motion sickness to an air force base. Jaune felt someone rub his back, slightly helping the churning sensation forming in his gut. He briefly glanced behind him to see one of the most beautiful people he'd met. She was a faunus, due to the pair of black cat ears on the top of her head, slightly hidden by sort black hair. Jaune caught himself staring and quickly turned back to the trashcan.

"Thank you miss." he spoke weakly.

"Nagase, Kei Nagase. And, you're welcome." she giggled softly. Jaune felt blood rise to his face and hid his face in the trashcan a little more.

"My name is Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, roll..." he began before the airship lurched, causing him to vomit once more. Nagase rubbed his back a little more before grabbing under his arm and lifting.

"Come on, the base commander is waiting for us." she spoke, slightly strained. Jaune weakly rose to his feet and grabbed the strap of his duffle bag. He stumbled his way out of the airship and hefted the bag over his shoulder. In front of him were the other cadets. In front of the group were two people, the base commander, and a middle-aged man with crewcut hair and olive drab flight suit. Jaune walked slowly to the line of cadets and set his bag by his feet as the base commander spoke up.

"Good morning, and welcome to Sand Island. I am Colonel Orson Perrault, the commander of this here airbase. Now let me set the record straight. I don't care if you're faunus, or human. Piss me off and you'll be on the first bullhead off the island and sent back to Vale. Understood?" he shouted.

"Yes sir!" the crowd chorused, other than Jaune who mumbled it. Perrault nodded and gestured to the man on his right.

"This is Captain Jack Bartlett, your squadron leader and new teacher. He will teach you how to fly, even if you've never set foot in an aircraft." the portly commander said, eyeing Jaune in the crowd. Jaune swallowed his fear back before paying attention to the captain.

"Welcome to the Island. The buildings on my right are the male barracks, that is where you will leave your things. There is a logistics officer there to give you rooms and roommates. On my left us the female barracks, same story. If you're caught feeling one another up, have fun on the way home. Your first lessons begin at 1600 today. Dismissed." Jack waved the cadets away before turning to the base commander. The crowd began to disperse, with Jaune following the crowd of guys.

"Jaune Arc!" he heard Bartlett yell out. Jaune flinched and made his way over to his new Captain. Jaune stopped before him and gave a salute, though he knew it was sloppy. The captain waved his hand in front of him.

"No, don't salute. I just wanted to clear some things up about your background." Jaune gulped but nodded.

"So, the Colonel told me you were a student at beacon. Correct?" Bartlett asked. Jaune swallowed his fear before answering.

"Yes sir."

"So that means, you've never gone to flight training." Bartlett questioned.

"Correct sir." Jaune answered. The captain raised a brow slightly before rubbing his eyes.

"You do know what you're here to learn. Correct?" he asked.

"Yes sir." Jaune answered. Jack sighed loudly before looking at him.

"Drop your stuff off and go meet me in hangar 5. It's the one over there." Bartlett pointed to a large building next to the female barracks. Jaune nodded before giving a salute and making his way to the barracks. Upon entering the door, he bumped into the ever-shortening line of cadets. Slowly but surely, he made his way down the line until it way finally his turn.

"Name and Rank." the officer asked.

"Jaune Arc, cadet." Jaune answered. The officer glanced up from his computer and gave Jaune a look.

"I know you're a cadet. I mean rank, Lieutenant, Sergeant, private?" the man spoke in slight irritation. Jaune rubbed the back of his neck before chuckling nervously.

"Um, I don't know for sure." the officer gave him a blank look before searching his name on the computer. The computer beeped and the officer sighed in exasperation.

"Alright. I've got your right here," he handed Jaune a plastic card, "your room is 1203, it's on the second floor and on the right." the officer spoke before leaning in his chair.

"Thank you." Jaune said quickly before heaving his bag on his shoulder and walking up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, he turned right and started walking down the hallway.

"1199, 1200, 1201, 1202, 1203. Ok here it is." Before Jaune could open the door, he could hear rock music blasting out of it. He opened it slightly to see his new roommate rocking it out to a record he had set next to a bed.

"CAN YOU TAKE IT ALL AWAY

CAN YOU TAKE IT ALL AWAY

WELL YA SHOVED IT IM MY FACE

THIS PAIN YOU GAVE TO ME

CAN YOU TAKE IT ALL AWAY

CAN YOU TAKE IT ALL AWAY

WELL YA SHove..." the music grew quiet as Jaune turned the volume down. His roommate looked at him.

"What the hell man! I was listening to that!" his roommate yelled. Jaune flinched before replying.

"Yeah, and so could the rest of the barracks." he said simply. His roommate was about to say something then stopped himself. He took a deep breathe before looking at Jaune.

"Hehe, sorry about that. So, you're my new roommate?" he asked.

"Yeah, my name is Jaune, Jaune Arc. Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue. Ladies love it." Jaune mumbled the last part. His roommate grinned.

"Oh, I'm gonna like you kid. My name's Alvin, Alvin H. Davenport. But you can call me Chopper." the newly name Chopper spoke before raising his hand. Jaune smiled slightly before shaking the extended hand and setting his bag on the other bed across from Chopper's.

"Not packing a lot, are you?" Chopper asked. Jaune shrugged as he pulled out his clothes, and uniforms he'd been given.

"I'll be honest. I don't really belong here." Jaune spoke as he pulled his last pairs of clothing out of the bag. Chopper chortled quietly.

"Aren't we both. Come on kid. If you're here, you must've done something right." he spoke in confidence. Jaune chuckled nervously as he put his clothes in the dresser next to his bed.

"Sure." he said quietly as he placed the last article of clothing in the dresser. He then looked to Chopper, who was back to jamming out to his music in the corner.

"Captain Bartlett wanted to see me, so I'll be out until our first lesson." Jaune told him. Chopper didn't seem to hear him as he continued to jam. Jaune rolled his eyes before making his was out of the barracks.

The walk to the hangar was mostly uneventful, other than the flock of birds that seemed to surround Jaune as he made his way over. He slammed the door to the hangar shut as sounds of pecking and squawking could be heard on the other side of the door. He heard someone chuckling and turned to see a beagle faunus, if the tail was to go by, walking towards him. The faunus was ball with a kind smile and a blue jumpsuit.

"Yeah, those birds will get all of you cadets on the first day. My advice is to pack some bread and toss it away from your path. Peter Beagle, but people just call me Pops." the faunus laughed. Jaune felt his face flush with embarrassment before looking back at the man in front of him.

"Sorry sir. My name is Jaune Arc, Captain Bartlett told me to meet him in this hangar." Jaune said. The faunus nodded slightly before gesturing for Jaune to follow him. The two walked down the hangar, passing by a multitude of fighter jets. Jaune couldn't help but feel awe when looking at the fighters, especially one specific one they stood in front of currently. It was a small plane, probably smaller than a bullhead, but looked way more agile. Blue, grey, and dark grey mottled camo covered the aircraft. It had two short stubby wings and tailfins that were squared off at the ends. On the vertical fin was the symbol of the Valean Air Force; two blue axes crossed over a white shield, and the symbol of the Wardog squadron. The side view of a black lab head with thin yellow outlines and a red ribbon around the neck. The front of the aircraft caught his attention the most. As right behind the designation numbers 003, was a painting of an Ace of hearts card with a combat knife lodged into it.

"The F-5E Tiger. One of the greatest planes to ever come from Northrop Vale." Pops' voice came from behind him, causing Jaune to yelp. Pops laughed at his expense as Jaune rubbed his neck in embarrassment.

"It's definitely, pretty," Jaune said hesitantly before pointing at the card, "but what does that mean?" he asked Pops. Pops was about to answer when Bartletts voice came from in front of them.

"That means it's my plane." the captain spoke. Jaune felt himself tense up as the captain looked at him.

"I see you've met Pops." Bartlett said. Jaune swallowed and nodded.

"Y-Yes sir." he spoke. Bartlett groaned before walking up to Jaune and placing his hand on Jaune's shoulder.

"Look kid. You technically, aren't military. So, you don't need to use sir with me when it's just us. I'd prefer if no one used it at all, but being a captain has its disadvantages." Bartlett spoke. Jaune felt an invisible weight leave his shoulders before Pops spoke up.

"What do you mean he isn't military?"

"Do you want to tell him kid?" Bartlett asked. Jaune shrunk slightly under Pops gaze and nodded.

"Um, I was sent here from Beacon. I, may have used forged transcripts to get there. I may have gotten caught, and I may have gotten sent here out of Ozpin's good wishes." Jaune spoke nervously. Pops looked at Jaune intently before looking back at Bartlett who shrugged.

"So, does that mean you haven't been in a flight school of any kind?" he asked. Jaune nodded. Pops looked back at Bartlett.

"Do you still have an Aura?" Pops asked inquisitively.

"Yes?" Jaune answered nervously. Pops felt a light grin grace his face.

"Well. Jaune, I would like you to know that back in the Great War, I was a pilot, just like the captain. And since he brought you to this hangar in particular," he glanced a look at Bartlett who had a similar grin on his face, "you need to learn how to fly." Jaune nodded at Pops' words.

"Then I'm willing to teach ya. We'll do this over the course of a few weeks, but I believe you should be fine." Pops patted Jaune on the back. Bartlett coughed into his hand, catching their attention.

"You might want to finish packing up before it's time for your first course." he said. Jaune caught on and nodded with a lazy salute.

"Yes captain." he said before returning to his Barracks.

1 week later

Jaune is in hangar 5 working on aircraft with Pops and the other ground crew, learning the inside and out of the F-5Es on base.

2 weeks later

Jaune is mock dogfighting in the Jaguar trainer jets against other cadets, though he struggles to win any, he is getting better day by day.

3 weeks later

Jaune has caught up flight-wise with the rest of his fellow cadets, though he still struggles with the science behind flight.

4 weeks later

Jaune is sitting with Chopper in their room. Bartlett had taken half the squadron out for a patrol, slash test flight over the ocean between Sand Island and Mistral. Chopper was jamming out to the same song he did as always, Flip of the coin. While Jaune was sitting at a desk looking through his book on avionics.

"Chopper, for the love of the brothers, if you don't turn that down I'm tossing it out the window." Jaune growled. Chopper glanced at his irate roommate before shrugging and turning the volume down.

"Man, why don't you go 'study' with Nagase like you usually do? That way I can listen to my music as loud as I please." Chopper complained. Jaune blushed slightly at the thought of his fellow cadet. She had helped him throughout his weeks at Sand Island. They had become close friends, so much so as rumors were being made within the squadron. Though he, may, have a crush on the pilot, he still didn't like the other's joking about it.

"Why don't you study at all Chopper. You know Bartlett will still ride your ass about it." Jaune bit back. Chopper raised his hands in surrender and mimicked a frightened jump.

"S-Sorry captain, I was too busy licking your boots to know how to..." he began before a book hit it him in the forehead. Jaune chuckled as Chopper rubbed his forehead.

"Okay, I may have deserved that." Chopper chuckled. Before any more banter could continue the siren went off around the base.

"Warning, 3 damaged aircraft returning to base. All medical and fire crew are to move to the airfield to assist." Jaune felt his heart skip a beat before he ran to the door with Chopper in tow. As the two ran down the hallway and the stairs, another group of four pilots had joined them.

"What's going on?" Coral Lina, callsign Rose, asked fearfully.

"Damaged aircraft? What happened" Rick Hampt, callsign Mud, wondered aloud.

"Gods I hope they're okay." Gerard Nickel, callsign Alloy, prayed.

"Oh god Mei, please be there." Ashley Birch, callsign Woodcutter, prayed.

"Can it kids! You know the drill. Get to the airfield and support the ground crews anyway you can. Me and Chopper will go with the medics. Mud, with us. Rose, Alloy, and Woodcutter, go with the firefighters and help them set up hoses. Move it!" Jaune ordered.

"On it Blaze." They all echoed. Jaune internally cringed at the callsign, but ran out onto the field with Mud and Chopper in tow. They made it to the medic trucks just as the three aircraft came into view. Jaune looked towards the incoming aircraft and could make out the silhouette of Bartlett's F-4E, it was fine, with maybe a little tumble here and there. He could see two other silhouettes of the F-5E's the cadets flew. One, again was relatively fine, but the other was trailing a line of thick black smoke.

Once again, Jaune felt fear grip his heart before he shook his head clear of the thoughts.

"Get ready to get that pilot out." he ordered his two squad mates. They nodded as the three watched with baited breath as the F-5 trailing smoke came in to land. The closer and closer it got, the more and more dread filled Jaune. Just as the plane was over the tarmac, one of the engines blew, causing the F-5 to burst into flames and crash into the tarmac below in a ball of fire. Jaune's heart dropped, he was about to run over when a hand landed on his shoulder.

"We can't help with that." Chopper said as he pointed at the now burning cockpit of the F-5. There was no movement, only the raging inferno that was being dealt with by the firemen on sight. Jaune nodded silently, feeling empty at watching one of his squad mates die with no way to help. The next F-5 was coming into view, Jaune watched with baited breath once again, though exhaled when the plane landed without a hitch. He and the rest of the medical crew ran to the plane with medical gear, ready to assist. The canopy opened as the crew made it to the plane. The pilot ripped the straps off the helmet and dropped it off the side of the plane before weakly getting out of the cockpit. Jaune ran to the plane when he saw her. Nagase made it to the ground and stumbled slightly, nearly falling. If it were for Jaune catching her mid fall. He held her up as she breathed heavily, slightly hyper ventilating.

"Shh, shh. I got your Kei. Come on breath. Breath." Jaune said softly as the captain's F-4 stopped just across from Nagase's F-5. Nagase and Jaune stumbled to the Ambulance as Bartlett exited the F-4 and gestured to the WSO seat. The rest of the crew moved to help the "WSO" as Jack moved towards Jaune, Nagase, and the ambulance. He gave her a quick look over and saw that she was unharmed.

"Nagase. Keep flying like that and you'll die real soon." he said before moving back to his plane to help the other crew.

"I won't die captain." she mumbled as her breathing slowed to a reasonable pace. Jaune, for his part, remained silent as Nagase gazed blankly at the ground.
